Good overall stay. Low season, not enough personnel present. We had 2 communicating rooms, and had to wait half a day for them to open the door... Made a reservation for 5 people and had towels for 4. Otherwise rooms were clean, food was good, available staff was friendly.

This was our first family caribbean trip - family of 6. Overall we found the hotel to be pleasant and the staff to be very friendly. We were able to get one suite with two rooms which allowed 6 of us to stay in one suite - alot of other hotels we needed to get two suits which was adding up to a significant amount. We had view of the beach which was […] perfect and did not expect to get such a beautiful view. The beach was awesome. We did not have to fight for space or chairs on the beach. Whenever we went, we were able to get chairs (our trip was in Feb). The food was awesome. We did not use a-la-cart as the buffet was simply wonderful and the kids were always able to find something they loved. The entertainment was very good - kids enjoyed the show at end of the night - something they looked forward to. The teen club was nice with the game room (pool table, fooseball, etc). On the negative side, issues included was one of the bathrooms had water leaking from the room above one day (they addressed it right away) and on another day, the room did not have any water for several hours (we later found out the whole resort had this issue). Some days we did not have hot water but being in a hot country, not a big issue. Overall, the stay was fantastic and definetly would go back again. BTW - we booked the taxi with Expedia at time of booking and it worked out great. The cab agent (Blue) helped up arrange shopping trip without charge and they even picked my brother from another resort. Læs mere

I just came bach from that trip 2 days ago it was great. Clean hotel, kind people, good music most of the shows good too. My kids twin girls 5yrs old and 3yr old son enjoyed a lot.

Our family of 5 stayed here mid-February for a week. We had our 3 young children, ages 5, 3 and 7 months. This resort definitely caters to French tourists. They even have French shows at night. The family room had three barely queen-sized beds, in two rooms. It also had two full bathrooms (showers, no bathtubs). The bathrooms definitely needed improvements, […] but were functional. During the weekend the water pressure was horrible! If you got any reasonable pressure with hot water, I'd be surprised! The beach was well kept and beautiful, but the waves were wayyyy to choppy for my children to go in.The three big pools were shallow enough and large, very nice. Finding a couple of chairs in the late morning was impossible. The worst thing about this hotel is that getting beach towels is impossible. No customer service at this hotel when it comes to beach towels!! The grounds were very well kept. The 'Royal vacations for life' 'timeshare-ish' guys are annoying. The food is ok. The fried chicken (tastes like KFC and Popeyes combined) at lunch on the beach grill is amazing! If you have small stroller children request a ground floor. They put us on the third floor with no elevator!!!!!! We requested a new room but didn't bother because we had settled in (we arrived at 10 at night). Overall, it's a decent hotel with some drawbacks. Definitely not a four star. Would I go back? With so many more hotels to choose from, probably not. Læs mere

The hotel and grounds itself are gorgeous!! The rooms are clean and functional..Thanks to Luis he moved my mother and I down to the ground level, close to the beach the pool and the restaurants..Thanks Luis!! You were my savior!! All the employees at Tropical were friendly and accomodating..Unfortunately the food was the worse I have ever had in D.R..The […] meat was so tough..the pork was tough..and the seafood was mush.. I never go to the Dominican expecting great things when it comes to food but this was by far the worst.. The breakfast great..fruit great..everything else wonderful..sadly the food will keep me from being a return customer.. However, I didn`t see anyone starving..so I`m sure theres something there for everyone.. But the beef and pork, you could throw at someone and do serious damage.. Also in 7 days we had fresh fish twice..So if you like your meat and fish..re-think your diet there. Other than that the vacation was wonderful.. One thing I`d like to mention..all you European travellers..lighten up!! Everyone walks around with a frown and if you say good morning its like you`ve insulted them. Superb!!!!!!. The food is very good and abundant. Drink as much as you like the domestic cocktails and beer at no extra charge. The staffs are very friendly. The best part was the efforts they put into making our Christmas dinner the best ever, being away from home at this time of the year. Great evening concerts. The hotel is situated on the good stretch […] of Bavaro beach. And they have all day snacks if you prefer to take out to the beach. We felt safe cause they had security guards at the parameter of the beach. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this trip because we made an effort to learn about the people of DR by interacting with the staffs and locals at the shops by talking to them and listening about their culture and economic conditions. Even learned a few dance steps of the Maranga and drank the mamajuana. Only one negative, a tour company on the property trying to sell us on our first day. We recommend this resort to families. As a Dominican living in the US, I think they are trying to keep the hotel for foreign tourists, which I'm not happy about. The Dominican dinner they prepared was not a good example of how delicious our dishes are. The Mexican night was really nice, but I have stayed in other hotels in the area and the services was so much better. I liked my room, even so there was no table lamp on the night stand, so it was hard to read while in bed. Broken light bulbs in hallway, so I had a hard time to get around during the evening hours. Our trip to Punta Cana was quite delightful. The setting was wonderful (we were staying right next to the beach) and the food was wonderful. The room we got had a bit of a musty smell, but after speaking with the Blue Travel representative, the issue was resolved. This room was also a smoking room even though it didn't smell like it. We asked the maid […] if there were any non-smoking rooms and she said they were all smoking. Another issue was with the tours. We went to Isla Saona on our first tour which is a beach day. However, the representative failed to tell us that we would need towels. The tour lasted the entire day, but we were only fed once. So, from the begining of the tour at 0715 until the end at around 2000, we were fed only once. We didn't even have the option of purchasing additional food other than bagged snacks (cookies, chips, and such). The same thing happened during our trip to Santo Domingo which ended even later. The accomodations were okay, although the rooms seemed to be somewhat run down. These were not polished accomodations like the Hilton Papagayo in Costa Rica. They were adequate and we didn't go to Punta Cana for the hotel, but rather for the atmosphere and the beach, sun and surf. Of that we got plenty. All in all, we had a very nice time and I would recommend Punta Cana to anyone. Just make sure you know what you're getting in advance and that you ask as many questions as you need to make sure you don't miss anything. Læs mere

recently went to punta cana for my bother's wedding and i stayed at the Tropical princess for 4 days from 08/25-08/29 and it was amazing, every thing was included, the food was great my favorites are the buffet restaurant & el pilon. you have to taste their orange juice & the coffee. they had all kinds of activities. i loved their disco. free alcohol […] ladies. Tropical Princess was one of the best things out of my first visit to Punta Cana. The food was great the staff was wonderful the shows were awesome. I was extremely pleased and suprised. I will definately go back and it was very affordable, did not break my pockets.

This is an excellent hotel with a superior customer service. I had a great time. The Show was great, but the best part was the food. The food is excellent and there is variety. Overall the grounds are nice. Unfortunately that is all I can say as good. Rooms were stinky, mirrors were sooo awful, doors would not lock, TV would not work and in the rooms that it did there was no remote and staff was unable to provide one in a whole week!! I stayed here for one night in July 2011 with my fiancee. The staff was welcoming. My room was nice and simple. The bed was comfortable. The balcony was nice to relax on. The only problem I had was the floor getting wet due to the humidity. The air conditioning and in-room fan was efficient for the hot and humid weather. The sushi with sweet plantains were the best, in my opinion. I didn't get to go into the pool but I visited it at night and it was amazing. The view of the palm trees in the background was beautiful. It was right on the beach. I would recommend to people on a budget. I went to DR for friend's wedding at the resort next door, which I stayed in for the remainder of the trip (it was triple the price..but I was main of honor and was there for the bride). Læs mere

All the services were great! Quality and maintenance were excellent. Three huge pools with various restaurants. Amazing buffet. Large room with bathroom and balcony. Everything included, with mini fridge with water and sodas.

I booked all-inclusive but don’t change your money to peso. Everything is charge in US Dollar. Room Nice but no clock! When arrived smelled moldy & mildew in our room went away only after leaving the door wide open and the patio door without a screen open the fan on high, A/C on, hot shower running the entire time from 1-9pm (we took turns watching […] the room). Repairs where needed but quickly done. They treated for Mosquitoes but they returned next day. Restaurant They have many al-carte rez req’d $$* (costly) & men must wear slacks. I had 2 included restaurant but impossible to rez. Buffet features different countries food every day. Tipping $1dollar goes along way keep them handy, got good service remember the name for the person, so when you return you could have the same person again (waiters, bus drivers, bartender, taxi driver). Lobby full of mosquito at night. Wi-Fi & laptop rental $$ expensive had mine. They have the nice shows and music at night. They have a night-club on the premises nice. Drinks not included! Læs mere

It was a very pretty resort, that was well maintained and upkept. We had a veiw overlooking the one of the three pools and it proved very relaxing and comfortable. The basic food service was great as was all the bar services and specialty resturants. The couple issues that we ran into were not too major but annoying none the less. First, upon arrival […] they stated they were going to upgrade us to a suite. Well the suite had three double size beds when we really only needed and wanted one king size. Second and most annoying was bathroom towels. We had two bathrooms and four towels when we arrived but they staff kept taking away towels and not returning any. For several of the days we only would have one towel in the room. Also they never really cleaned the rooms; they would just make the bed and take our towels. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and found everything on the resort to be clean, well maintained and problem free. The staff was very friendly, although if you spoke fluent Spanish they were quite a bit friendlier. I would recommend this resort and I would go back, just make sure you hide your towels if you do go. Læs mere

The check in was great, no problems, fast, efficient and very friendly. Food was good plentifull and very varied, if you are into drinking and eating, them this is the place to be. A lot of European specially French tourist in this hotel. Staff was friendly and if you participate in the activities they tend to like you more than if you do not.They were […] calling me by my first name after 2 or 3 days, they even knew who were my kids by name also. Pools are great, clean huge and just beautifull. Beaches are clean and very safe even at night they have private security. Downtown is very safe during the day, they have turist police, just beware of sales people, they will try to get as much money as they can from you, wathever price they say, you offer less than half and start from there.. I almost forgot watch out for the "artisan fleamarket that comes to the hotel once a week, their prices are four or five times more thant downtown and that is before you even knock the price down, downtown things will cost you eigh to ten times cheaper. Take a taxi from the hotel to the airport, just do not let them scam you, prices are posted right at the outside of the airport. Do not buy any coconut or palm products, they will through them away even before you get to check in, that is US customs in DR. If you are carefull and go to have a good time, you will be able to enjoy your stay and make it memorable,we went with our 3 kids and we all had a blast, in fact, we are going back in 2012. Læs mere

I took my 17 year old son with me, because he is a minor he was given a green wrist band, but everytime I turned around they were trying to serve him adult beverages. Reservei este hotel 'por engano', pois fiz uma reserva de quarto de R$ 260,00 achando q seriam para 2 pessoas, porém me enganei e era p/ apenas 1.. Tive q pagar a diferença.. Ou seja, o quarto para 2 adultos ficou em R$ 520,00/dia... e pagando esse valor espera-se qualidade compatível. As areas publicas do hotel são muito boas, varias piscinas, praia […] privada, tennis, atraçoes. PORÉM: como sao muitos funcionarios, tivemos desde de muitos simpáticos (principalmente garçons) até extremamente antipáticos (principalmente no lobby).O quarto é razoável, digno de um ** superior, ou no máximo *** . A comida é variada, porém de qualidade no máximo razoável. Existem vários bares, porém as bebidas do All Inclusive são ruins. Em resumo, não voltaria por um valor desses (Um preço de R$ 250,00 por dia por casal - seria o máximo que pode-se pagar nesse hotel no All Inclusive, daí p/ menos na minha opnião) Læs mere
