the lodges are old in a good way which make them nice to stay in. The owner is very serviceminded,- and he means it. Our childern spent a lot of time on the playground and we almost didn`t see them.

The man who checked us in/out was very friendly, and our cabin was ready so we were allowed to check in earlier than the posted time. They have wood for the fireplace for a small fee. The only downfall was that our cabin was next to the road so traffic woke us up too early. I would definitely stay here again.

The room didn't feel clean. We had ants. so all food had to stay in the refrigerator. The bedding was awful, Comforter was ripped and had a pretty big blood stain on it. But what could I say! You get what you pay for!!!!

Well, I read a review beforehand stating it was very dirty... but there were also some good reviews so I thought 1 person had had a bad experience. Unfortunately, the cabin we rented was extremely off-putting - so much so that my husband and I decided to leave (which has never happened). When we first walked in I noticed 4 large windows in the cabin. […] I quickly realized that none of the blinds shut - I'm talking huge gaping gaps where anyone who was outside could see in. Both my husband and I tried to fix them, and eventually went to ask the owner to move us. He came to the room and "fixed" them (they were much better), but my husband still had to wedge newspapers into the gaps for privacy. Then, I went to take a shower... there was a paper on the toilet saying it had been sanitized, but I lifted the lid to use it and to say it politely, no, it had not been cleaned. There were also enormous amounts of dust in the TV area. I just felt gross and as if the cabin was contaminated with germs. To be fair, the cabin was spacious, there was a large fireplace, and the owner was kind. But that wasn't enough to entice us to stay. We preferred to drive 3 hours home and sleep in our own beds. Our stay at Timberline Lodge was pleasant. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and gave us discount tickets for ski equipment rental. The cabins were nice but the cleanliness left something to be desired. There was a sock left on the floor from a previous occupant. And I am not sure when the cabin was last vacuumed and dusted. For the price […] we paid, we were given a great value for our money. The fireplace was a definite plus. We would stay there again. And we would recommend it to our friends. Læs mere

Stayed in cabin 9. Liked: full kitchen (but terrible dish soap provided), fireplace, friendly staff Disliked: radiator not able to heat bedrooms or bathroom adequately (therefore uncomfortably cold), relatively dirty overall (e.g. hair on blankets)

It was way bigger than I had expected. Plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels. I will def be back to stay next time im in area.

I have never been in a more dirty place.

I can't wait to go back when the snow falls. Room was cozy absolutely adored the fireplace at the bedside. Will definitely come back :)

We scored a mid week deal, and had an amazing time. The woman who works at the front desk was so nice. She gave us toothpaste and a nice razor upon check-in, and we could even take movies from their collection to watch in our cabins. Everytime I interacted with her, she was just the nicest woman. The beds were not the most comfortable. We had a king […] sized bed, and it felt more like a trampoline. If y husband moved, I moved like it was a waterbed. And the pillows were not very comfortable, but they did their job. The fireplace was awesome, and made up for both the bed and pillow cases. They sell logs in the room, and we had a fridge in our room we could put food in. The cabin was just so cozy and quaint. I really loved it. And the location was awesome. We were right by everything, including Alpine Slides, which have really fun tubing. My only gripe would have to be the lack of a blowdryer in the room. Not much fun to have to go out in the snow and cold weather with wet hair. But who knows, maybe if I asked the nice lady at the front desk, she would have given me one! Very cozy and nice surrounded by tall trees. Nice little mini cabins.

Staff very friendly. Very basic amenities, no hair dryer, no can opener, older appliances. Every cabin had a BBQ and picnic table. Convenient location.

some fixtures needed repair, but staff was very accomitiating. enjoyes our stay.

This lodge is perfect for a leisurely getaway in a beautiful area. With fireplace in each cabin, and the possibility of stay in different cabin themes make this a different vacation experience.

If you are at all prone to Asthma, allergies or sensitive to dust, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL! The proprietor was very nice and helpful but was leaving right after we checked in. That was fine but upon entering our room we discovered it to be very dusty and musty smelling. We tried to open the windows to air it out and when I opened the curtains there […] was a wasp. Killed it, no others to speak of, it must have flown in and forgot how to get out. We dropped our bags on the bed and clouds of dust lifted into the air. We ditched the room in the hope that it would air out. We were sorely mistaken on our return. My best friend slept very poorly on account of the dust and allergies. VCR, no DVD. I can live with that, but not when the tape contastly gets stuck in the VCR when trying to eject. I was a Girl Scout for over 10 years. I'm used to roughing it, but this hotel was a big disappointment. Maid service everyday is EXTRA CHARGE! Læs mere

excellent place to stay,peaceful and nice.

Timberline is a cool hotel option/alternative. We stayed in a cabin like building, our room was a free standing building so no shared walls with other guests = very quiet. We had planned on being outdoors the whole trip, so we only needed a place to rest up between adventures, and Timberline worked for us. Very affordable, and always ample hot water...which […] is very important to me when showering (bad experiences at other hotels around the country). I would recommend bringing your own pillow if you're picky about the comfort or softness of your pillow...and probably blanket too if it matters to you. Owner is very gracious and kind. We received free cranberry snacks, tooth paste, and had the opportunity to borrow movies if desired. called for late check in no problem, very nice at front desk. quiet at night, decent group of people checking in. Not new but clean and comfy stay. Would reccomend it to anyone who doesn't expect 4star just quick, clean and convenient.

The lodge is a good place for budgeted travelers. It has a full kitchen, clean bath and ample room. The owners are very kind and easily approachable. Definitely a place to stay for budget conscious travelers.

We stayed at a snug yet cozy cabin, staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is walking distance to the alpine mountain slide place, and a short drive to big bear village and snow summit, the room had a very nice fireplace with instructions and supplies in the room, using a bundle of wood only cost $6, I would definitely stay here again sometime […] soon, our cabin was clean with a rustic old feel. The room also has a heater that was kept on for us upon late check in, the best part is the price. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking cozy, clean, friendly and affordable. Læs mere

This hotel is in the edge of the town as you drive into Big Bear Lake. The lake is right across the road on a 2 minute walk. The Alpine slide is about 5 min walk only. The room was clean, warm and good enough for a night or two. Nothing fancy, nothing bad. There was a microwave and a coffeemaker. The room had clean linen and clean bathrooms. Would have […] been nice to have some silverware even if to just eat the microwave meals. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Some freebies were at the office incl toothpaste. VHS tapes available for checkout at front desk. No one uses VHS anymore, but not complaining. Was a nice rustic touch. Logs were available in the room(for a cost). But heater was sufficient. This place is great. Great customer service, amazing room and a great price.

Con: Nothing special, a bed to sleep in for the night. I chose this location because I had to stay a week for business, and knew the cabin had full kitchen. It is not the cleanest. Pro: it is located close to town and the lake.

I can't begin to explain all I endured on my getaway here in Big Bear. The entire stay was the most memorable time I have ever had. I plan on making the Timberline Lodge my #1 place to stay from now on. The atmosphere, owner, housekeeping and the guests we talked with were all on my list of the best!

Well, a feng shiu cabin would look pretty stupid in Big Bear, so be prepared for back to the 80's style with duck decorations and cute yard sale decorations. Carpet was new, brick fireplace was awesome, loved the little kitchen. Even the other guests were unpretentious and friendly. Its not the Hilton, but, neither is the price. The cabin was small but it was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For the price you can't beat it. If you are looking for luxury this is not the place.

My husband and I stopped in here during our Honeymoon when we were driving between Vegas and San Diego, and we totally wish that we had actually booked it for more than just a one-night stop over between destinations. The cabins are adorable and homey, and the fireplace was a big treat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. Big Bear […] itself is also a very charming area. Lots of cute little shops, nice restaurants, and we had the pleasure of checking out a zoo where they care for injured and abondoned animals. Loved it here!!! Læs mere

We checked in eary and the staff were great at getting us in and settled. The rooms are a cozy log cabin stye. They were clean and neat, and not to many frills. We did not use the pool as it was under renovation. Shopping down town was quaint with small stores and home made candies. The lake was fabulous.

This hotel was a fair price, and good location. However, I'm sure the Timerline Lodge has seen better days There are overgrown weeds. A playground that is in it's final years of life. Cabin #11, had filthy carpet, I would feel better about having my shoes off outside than in the room. The couch in the room was sunken in and seemed like someone picked […] it up off the side of the road. The bathroom hand towels were yellow. It made me have some real reservations about the bed sheets. The light in the living area had at least 10 years of built up dirt and dropping with dead bugs inside. Upon arrival it was the little things that annoyed me. The little things: stove has no pilot light, and there were no matches nearby, door handle fell off as I entered the bathroom. When I mentioned my complaints to the owner he literally dropped what he was doing and came to the room to fix the handle, and had one of his cleaning ladies deliver matches. […] I am a customer service junkie, and this guy won me over. The room was nice sized and comfortable. This is an older facility, and the staff is upgrading one cabin at a time. Doesn't feel like a hotel, feels like you are staying in your own little cabin. BBQ available right outside the rooms and the owner wanders around the grounds and chats with people. He encourages chatting with each other and soon we’re having a block party in our neighborhood. The upstairs units will hear more traffic than the ground level. Læs mere

i have been at other little cabins but this is the best for the money, we go up there to bring our sea doos, most don't have room for them but this place dose, it had somewhere for the kids to play it was great! timberline was the best cabin in big bear and YES i will go back.
