Springhill Suites by Marriott Chicago Downtown/ River North - Chicago

Very comfortable, quiet, and clean.

This hotel was a wonderful choice for our annual girls getaway. The staff were very friendly and hot beverages were available all day. We were within walking distance of most of the sites that we were interested in. The only complaint that we had was with the elevator. One elevator was out of service and one was being used by the staff, which left one […] for all the guests. This would sometimes result in a long wait time to get to and from our room. Læs mere

Really liked the hotel. Nice modern suites where you can watch TV in bed OR on the couch. Comfortably slept 5 with the sleep. Only negatives ...the pool is small and loud, and there is almost no place to store clothes. It wasnt an issue for our one-night stay but might be for a longer stay.

this is a simple hotel, so don't book if you're expecting luxury. It is a nice, clean hotel in a great location if you're okay with walking a little bit to the main attractions. You're no more than 15-20 minutes away from Millenium Park and the Magnificant Mile. The free breakfast was nice, however, it's a little chaotic to find a seat and wait in line […] for the food. The pool was pretty small so that was a little disappointing. Also at busy times, it can take forever to get an elevator. Otherwise, it was perfect for our little family getaway. Læs mere

we had several complaints while at the springhill some minor but nonetheless very errtating : a/c dripping water on the floor where luggage was , squeaking door on the bathroom, clogged sink drain, missed wake up call and much dissappointment to the 5 grandchildren on the last night at the hotel the pool and hot tub were DISGUSTING yellowish and cloudy. […] The breakfast was great the dining room great the lobby great and most of all Chicago was great fun Læs mere

Welcoming and very helpful staff, easy to locate hotel. Clean and well kept lobby and rooms. Breakfast included in our price, very convenient when travelling with infant. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others, with or without infants/children.

I was delighted with my stay at Springhill Suites. The staff was excellent and things were very clean and well managed. I would definitely stay there again. It was great to have such an excellent room with free conveniences like breakfast and wifi. The location is convenient to many Chicago attractions.

I thought it was a bit high parking, but comfortable room.

The hotel staff was excellent and the room was very clean and big enough to move around in. The first night was good sleeping and comfortable. However the second night the party started next door at around 11pm and finally stopped about 5:30am. Hotel desk was called twice before 1:30am and the party did leave for a while but returned at 5:30am. Kids […] on spring break!? We were offered a late check out and a complimentary night stay at the hotel...we will see if the coupon shows up. Staff was very helpful but they offered us a different room that night instead of moving and or asking the other party to leave, that is my only complaint. Great location. The kids had fun in the pool which has safety soft stairs and kept warm. Rm service was pretty quick. The rm was small but nice. The snacks and ice were all downstairs and a little expensive but the rm had a mini fridge and microwave. Would definitely stay again just in a bigger room. Very clean hotel. Professional, helpful staff. Awesome location, close to everything downtown. Since I had to checkout early, held my suitcase while I finished meetings. I didn't think the breakfast was as awesome as I had read about in reviews, but I am very picky. Also I expected the King suite to be larger than it was, but it was still adequate for […] my needs. Great location, great service, great everything. I highly recommend the valet service, for only ten more dollars they take care of your car and you just call before you leave your room and it is downstairs waiting for you. Totally worth it. And they were very accommodating for my nine month old.

We took our children there and they really enjoyed the pool and hot tub for us! Its on the 27th floor great view of the city! Our room was really clean and had plenty of room for the four of us! It also has free breakfast which is nice for a family of four that can really add up! We will be staying here again great value!

This hotel was centrally located to many major attractions that tourists want to see when they come to Chicago. The amenities were immense and more than we ever expected. Loved the central location and walking distance to lots of beautiful architecture! Close to great food and great shopping. I walked everywhere. Grabbing a cab was super easy outside the hotel. You can't beat the central River North location. The Springhill is steps away from clubs, restaurants and more. We had a nice little suite for less than the cost of a normal hotel room. We were meeting friends so it was nice to have the extra seating space to gather. I already recommended the hotel to my nephew who is coming to town next weekend. He […] checked out Hotels.com and found that the Springhill had the best rates. My only complaint is that breakfast ends too early on Sunday. Many hotels serve until 11 on Sunday but Springhill only serves until 10. However, there is a bagel place next door with an entrance from the hotel as an option. Læs mere

A great stay in downtown Chicago, you won't be disappointed. The staff is helpful if your not familiar with the area. I recommend it to everyone.

We booked this hotel because it was family friendly (indoor pool, free breakfast, pull-out sofabed, etc.) and close to Shedd Aquarium. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, and the breakfast had A LOT of options, more than any other complimentary buffet I have seen and the eggs were actually very good (for once). The pool was a bit of a disappointment. […] The water was pretty cold (we could only stay in with the little ones for about 20 minutes), and the surrounding tile was so slippery, my 3 year old slipped 3 times while walking carefully and grazed her head on the tile once. The pool liner was rumpled in a couple places, so it was uncomfortable to walk on. It just didn't look like it got much attention during the day from the staff. The hot tub wasn't too hot to get into like many others I've come across, which was nice. The traffic on the street below kept me awake until about 4am (constant honking for some reason). We were on the 17th floor. It was pretty busy on that 1 block that evening. The room in general was pret quiet though. No bathtub in the room...shower only. Not ideal for those with small kids. The pull out bed was nice for our 2 girls and was separated by a desk with a sliding partotion. The room was bright and cheerful. Would stay again, but not on a weekend. Great hotel, reasonable price, beauitful room and great breakfast

This hotel is really a really good distance from Union Station. It was also near alot of good quality steakhouses. I also liked the way that you couldn't get on any floor of the hotel without a key. The only complaint I had was that one of my hotel keys didn't work as well as the other one. Lots of good things in walking distance from this hotel.

The hotel was really nice. The entrance is weird because you have to go up a floor to check in. Also, to use the elevators, you need to swipe your room key. But the room itself was lovely. It had a nice seating area with a comfortable couch and a useful small fridge. Overall, it was a nice stay and at a great price!

This was an excellent location along with a wonderful room and accommodations. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay downtown or near Michigan Ave.

The Springhill Suites is a hidden steal right in the heart of the city. The cleanliness and amenities can't be beat and you are so close to so many popular destinations when visiting the city. Don't let this gem pass you by. So affordable for a family.

This hotel was very clean and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

Great location, nice pool and hot tub!, amazing breakfast- waffles, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, pastries, muffins, etc.

I stayed at this hotel on nye 2011 and When I arrived was anxious to get out . Being that it was NYE .. when arriving back to the hotel was ready to lay in bed.. After laying there for a minute I smelled something in the room... I decided ti investigate.. As I investigated I came to the conclusion that the smell was urine.. And the I was determined […] to find the culprit.. after 10 minutes of investigating I smelled the bed and then realized the sheets were damp.. Long story short the mattress was soaked in urine .. Then the maintenane superviser says a comment about how the housekeeping staff didnt spot the bed right. I was grossed out. I have a bed at home and I have a waterproof mattress cover.. all I can say is never again.. I will say the hotel staff gave us another room.. but I never plan on staying here again. Læs mere

This is our second stay at the Springhill Suites River North. Both visits found the front desk staff to be very friendly and service-oriented. The rooms are generous size with a separate bedroom and living area with pull-out sofa bed. The continental breakfast was excellent and included hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, waffles and sausage. 10 min to the navy pier 10 min to the Art Institute close from the city's best rated restaurants and bars. Would definitely go back to this place for my next visit in Chicago

I looked at the web site, AND called, AND included this note in my reservation: "I called to check, and it sounds like we're booking a room with a wall and a door (so our little girls can go to sleep and we don't have to have the same bedtime). Please let me know if this isn't that kind of room." Turns out there was no wall. When I asked at the desk […] about another room or the other Marriott property that *shares the same lobby*, I got the very typical, "Your note got cut off. There's nothing we can do, you have to call hotels.com". In the middle of the night with two young kids in tow. Obviously sharing one tiny room with two small children who go to bed at 7:30 had a HUGE impact on our vacation. It's easy to say, "good morning" and check people in when it goes the same way every time. Staff was friendly and I appreciate that. But good customer service is dealing gracefully and helpfully with the 2% of the time when something different happens, when some creative problem solving is necessary. Unfortunately if you're part of the 2%, you're out of luck. Someone in management needs to empower their employees to help customers in these situations. As far as the neighborhood goes, unfortunately we ran into a group of drunk and rowdy guys who decided it would be funny to slam random passers-by, including a single woman and my husband, into the buildings as they walked by. I would avoid being out late if you want to avoid drunk crowds. Otherwise the location was good (Rick Bayless a block away!), view was fabulous, and room was tiny but nicely put together. We enjoyed having the pool to ourselves on Christmas Day. Læs mere
