Been coming here for 4years and am so happy when I arrive. Staff so friendly and remember me each time. Love seeing the renovations going on...Must say that Jerome is the best!! He always takes such good care of us when we come. Feel like long lost family when I return to visit. BEST AND ONLY PLACE FOR ME IN NEGRIL!!!

If you want a cheap hotel it`s ok If you want breakfast or other meals it depends on whether any staff turn up on time. The swimming pool was green when l arrived after complaining it was usable 4 days later The front desk staff were very good, the yards cleaners always working. I would like to see the hotel amenities cleaned up especialy the pool area. The chairs are not in good shape at all. Also I was not impressed with the restaurant. The hotel does not have a full kitchen as the bar was being used to cook food. The landscaping of the porperty is not being kept up either. I also was confused with the room service. The staff […] came so late in the afternoon to clean. And only once they left a roll of toilet paper. The porch of the guest room was very dirty. Love the hotel, But Housekeeping was bad, THE MATTRESS ON THE BED VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY HARD, VERY DIFFICULT TO SLEEP AT NIGHT!!!!! THE MATTRESS WAS SO HARD THAT IT HURT MY CHEEKBONE

...but it is a low budget hotel so don't expect more! Although i would recommend it and i will go back for sure.

This hotel is a complete false it is nothing like it is advertised to be. These are the issues with this hotel. 1. THE FRONT DESK/CONCIERGE….had no information on any of the local or regional attractions. 2. THE POOL was disgusting...the water was it was green, littered with debris & it was only painted half way. There were exactly 5 lounge chairs […] available for guests to use...three were cracked straight down the middle & two were covered in mold & mildew. 3. THE RESTAURANT/KITCHEN consist of two chefs cooking on a HOT PLATE…we had to wait a hour for our orders to be cooked…..the continental breakfast consisted of coffee or tea with a slice of toast that's it. 4. THE ROOM (villa)...all the sheets were stained & dirty (we had to wait 1.5 hours for them to be brought to our villa)....there were no towels in the room when we arrived (we had to wait 1.5 hours for them to be brought to our villa)....there are no electric outlets in the bathrooms....there is no iron or blow dryer provided in the room (you can request one from the front desk but they have a very limited supply of them)….the villa was has a kitchen which was suppose to have a stove what is actually provided is a hot plate (it didn’t work properly)….they do not provide no pots, no plates, no utensils or no cups….the microwave did not work….refrigerator did not work properly…the sectional couch was stained, had cigarette holes & it was full of black ants (we had to ask them spray it down with bug spray), a telephone is not provide in the room…. only 1 key is provided per room… the window glass is very thin & one can hear all the noise from the reception & restaurant area….music is played extremely loud in the restaurant….we saw large roaches in the room…if you request extra toilet paper or garbage bags they are left outside of the room in a large garbage bag outside of your room if you are not there….we were told to put the garbage out on the walkway for someone to pick-up (this attracts insects). 5. Very good value for a hotel located in the center of Negril. We had to pester the staff for proper blankets and towels, but they were pretty willing to supply them once we asked. During peak tourist season, music can be heard pumping in the distance until slightly past midnight, but was not too disturbing. A few of the hotel staff will try to set you […] up on tours and for local taxis - which is convenient for those with a large pocketbook. The rates quoted are often 2-3x the market rate for such fares - even by tourist standards. Do yourself a favor and walk down to the taxi stands at the bottom of the hill, look for the red licence plates (they are the registered ones), and do a little bit of negotiating before signing up at the hotel. The staff there do all they can to make you feel welcome. The place needs some paint and a few repairs here and there. The staff keep it as clean as possible. I have nothing to complain about they are good to me.

Checking in was pretty good, but on entering the room that I was assigned I immediately felt like checking out. The bed was covered with only fitted sheet, the room was smelly, the shower had no sprinkler so the water poured out like a garden hose. There was no wash rags and the towels were worn. There was no iron in the room nor was there a remote […] for the TV and the Air Conditioner. I requested these items and I was only given a remote for the Air Conditioner. I was told that the iron and the TV remote would soon be delivered, but until I left the following morning it was not delivered. I turned up at the dining area for continental breakfast during the allotted time, only to be told it was finished and I would have to purchase breakfast. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. I would never stay at Caribbean Sunset Resort again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Læs mere

I have stayed here many times and the people are always good to me. I do think some of they need to upgrade it and paint it but overall I am satisfied.

no towels, no shower nozzle, no hot water, no ac, flies, bad location, view of nothing........ It will be a memorable experience though... not in a good way.

NO DRINKING WATER, NO SUGAR FOR COFFEE AND TEA. NOTHING IN THE BAR BUT A BOTTLE OF PEPSI, TWO BOTTLES OF BEERS. I WAS SO EMBARRASSED BECAUSE I HAD TAKEN MY UNCLE AND TWO OTHER FRIENDS WHO LIVE IN THE U.S.A. I BELIEVE I SHOULD BE REFUNDED. ITS A RIP OFF.

The hot water pressure is a tinkle, the mattress are not good to sleep on more than one night and the room was not cleaned propperly....

My friend and family really enjoyed our stay at the Sunset Resort Hotel during December 2011. The location was excellent. The food was great. It has many fun activities in one place. I would stay at this resort again if I travel.

Do NOT book this hotel. I arrived there on 12/31/11 @ 6pm tired from the long drive for the front desk to ask me for $25 key deposit which I refused to pay. Then I was taken to a room with no bedspread on the bed, no towels, no water coming out of the showerhead so no shower and was unable to go out at all for New Years Eve. I had booked to stay here […] for 5 nights of which I could not take a shower and go out for New years Eve so I slept on the couch and we left at 5am for Montego Bay and I had to pay for another hotel for our weeks stay. The pictures that this hotel submitted to Hotels.com did not exist. They must have taken pictures of another hotel and one of their rooms and posted them as their hotel. I took pictures of this hotel and how bad it was and how it was nothing like the posted pictures for proof that this hotel misrepresented themselves. Læs mere

It is really sad that the hotel has no extra towels or pillow cases. Those are human need .. HYGIENE.. come on... Every time the cleaning lady cleaned the room she took the used towel then bring new one around 9pm or 10pm sometimes they don't even bring any that I have to go to the front desk and request some towels... Every day the there was a power cut for at least 5 hrs.They controlled the AC and it was kept at 24. Not really very cool. I felt like I was sweating all the time. And awful when the power cut. There was no swimming pool and the par and resteraunt was closed. The security did not controlled who came to your room and over all I'd say the place has deteriorated […] in the hands of new owners. SUNSET RESORTwas ok however if you dont have a car there is nothing to do sunset on the beach which is the sister hotel to sunset resort is much much better because you are right on the beadc

Lovely hotel and room super comfortable!!! Love that it's apart of the town where everything was conviently available! Wish the wifi was available to the rooms and not limited to the lobby area and not happy that there was no room service for the last two days and yea, the pool was really dirty didnt get a chance to use it... This Hotel is under new ownership fom the information I received from locals. I am a very experienced traveller, and usually stay in hostels, this hotel was so bad, I stayed my one night and left promptly upon waking. Jamaica is based purely on the sea, or the mountains with views of the sea. I moved to a boutique hotel with 24 rooms for for 20 usd […] more per night. It is clean and beachside.. Today I go to a hostel for half the cost of the first hotel per night with views of the carribean. Læs mere

If you are on a budget, this place is for you. me and wife's 2nd stay there. The taxi drivers and staff are great people and we were glad to see them again. I definetly recommend this resort

We had a hard time locating this hotel..not that near to the beach as we thought it was going to be..its hidden up hill with just a small sign down by the road and the larger sign up near the hotel..Its clean..the staff is most friendly out of any where i have stayed in Jamaica..the room was on the small side and we had to wash cloths..just towels..found […] that odd..just sheets on the bed and no spread..the curtains where not black out curtains..so the you got the sun as soon as it came up.. We had tv..microwave & fridge in room..if you ran the microwave more than 3 mins..everything shut off..had to start all over again..there is some construction going on..if i stayed here again it would be do to the staff in keeping the room nice and neat and there friendly attitude .. I got to Negril every two months. This was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in. Although the front desk staff was nice the rest of the staff was not. The bartender was not happy to serve my boyfriend and I. I am sure because I am white and he is Jamaican. There were no clean towels in the room until after 5:00 and about three phone calls. Our first room was older and not yet remodelled, we where upgraded and the second room was very nice. Wood floors, stone feature wall and flat scene TV. The washroom was remodeled and the stone shower was lovely. The service was very good and the free shuttle to the beach was a nice surprise. I would not recommend taking any of the taxi's that park […] at the gate without negotiating a price first 500J was the standard so be wise ask first. We where just up the hill from the grocery store, burger king and bakery. The town is safe to walk in and the 7 mile beach was fabulous. I would recommend Rick's cafe for sunset, the red stripe cat snorkelling tour (the lobster lunch was amazing) and Bourbon on the beach for jerk chicken and cheap redstripe. Cheers Læs mere

The grounds were unkept and not trimmed or mowed. Restaurant was a joke, The same 3 meals served with only 3 dishes to choose from (if they had it). Waitress had an attitude problem. Service was very poor. Sugar bowl was cup with handles knocked off as well as chipped plates/cups. Linens/towels were dingy. No face clothes/regular size towels, just bath […] towels and if you gave them up for clean ones in the morning...you didn't have any towels until 6 p.m. that night until the "clean" ones were delivered. Had a big couch next to bed which had no purpose as you couldn't get to it as there was little space between bed and couch. Would have been nice to have a small table and 2 chairs so you could eat on or use. Shower had no curtain or ledge for soap. If you asked for a patio table to go with the 2 chairs outside, forget about it, they never accomodated your request or it took days. Some staff were nice but under staffed. Only had 4 hangers in closet. Would look for another place before staying there and would only do so in a pinch. Læs mere

After spending two weeks at the caribbean sunset resorts in negril, i would not recomend this hotel, it was a real mess, there was rat mess in the draws,cock roach in the room, work man boots on the cup board top, never use the hotel towels, i never use them, mess on them, plus saw hair on the towels.. The staff are extremely superb, the front desk […] staff are so help full and friendly and professional, the lady at the bar never smile, the pool should not swim in, it is really dirty, never seen it clean, dark at the bottom, the bath room have mildrew and mould in the shower, the face basins never seems to wash, the security gaurds are doing a excellent job, this hotel need urgent attention. This hotel is for the traveler who does not need a fancy resort. The rooms are simple, maybe a little dingy, but you get what you pay for. The front desk people were great to me, even though I asked to switch rooms 3 times because I wasn't happy with the room. The king poolside rooms are the better rooms. The thing that amazed me the most was the fact […] that they had hired drivers to take you to/from beach area, during certain hours, for free (minus tip). The hotel is in the Square, walking distance to local food/stores, 5 min drive to nice beach area. If you are just looking to go to Jamaica and have somewhere safe (maybe not so comfy) to rest your head at night, this place works. I didn't "love" it, but I would go back. Læs mere

This hotel is not a luxury resort but caters to locals and people traveling on a budget. The room was not in the best condition (towel bars missing, noticeable wear & tear) but it was clean and very affordable. It's not on the beach but you can walk to a public beach from there. Shopping, restaurants, craft markets are all within walking distance […] as well. IF you want a night or two and don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room this is a very affordable option. The special price was right, but I knew the hotel was not near the beach and I had a car. Very basic services and do not expect to order room service. Beds were comforable and the plumbling worked. I will stay ther again if I just a room.

The Hotel is close to the beach and it is inexpensive: Those are the pros. Dirty rooms and weird people hanging around the resort gate, are just a few of the cons. The employees are nice to the guests. If those things were fixed and they offered some type of activities of the property......this would be a great value.

It was not completely horrible. I didn't mind the room size, but the bathroom was tiny. The shower was great but the shower curtain was flimsy and wouldn't stay in the shower. When the water is on, the curtain blows in the wind and the floor gets wet, The hotel towels smelled clean but looked a bit dingy! Bring your own wash clothes as they are not […] provided. The irons are limited, may take up to a day to receive one. The sink faucet head was not long enough and it didn't have an easy stream. Made handwashing a bit difficult. The beds were acceptable. A/C worked well and the cable TV was an added perk! I did have a really bad ant problem. There were everywhere! It didn't bother me til like the 3rd day. If you bring food into the room, keep it in the fridge and wipe up any spills, crumbs, debris immediately! I brought disinfecting wipes and the came in handy! Used every one of them. It wasn't horrible and I would stay again, I may look into staying in a villa as opposed to the superior room. Oh yeah, one more thing,the bar and restaurant had no food. It was amazing how they had ham and no burger and pb but no j...I had to sort of put my own meal together. This was a great trip so I didn't let teh room spoil it. We needed a cheap hotel for a one night stay in Negril. They are upgrading certain areas of the hotel. The water pressure in our room was horrible and the air conditioner took a few hours to kick in. But it did cool down the room pretty well after a few hours of running.

This is the cheapest we can find at that time of the year in Negril and it has a great location (at the round about, kind of at the connection of Long Bay and West End). Pros: good location. Has a big pool. Has free Internet at lobby area Our room has AC, but no remote, so we can't adjust at all Bathroom is updated, but there is hole on the wall (where […] the outlet is) - I guess either they are still working on it or they didn't care enough to make it complete Has hot water, but not very consistent. If you shower at 7 PM, mostly cool water, but if you try again at 10PM, you get hot water. Cons: very loud at night due to parties on the beach (well, this is part of Negril. I am sure West End is a lot quieter) Room is super basic and we see some insects We didn't have towels in our room. We asked several times and was promised they will be sent to our room. The last time, they finally admitted that the towels are still in the dryer. We finally got our towels, but the whole experience is quite disappointing Læs mere
