Very nice, enjoyed our stay and would come back. It was very busy but still was enjoyable. They handled and served many many people for breakfast. Your breakfast staff did a wonderful job, even though it was very busy, they stayed friendly and accommodated the guests. We have family in the area and intend to come again in the future. "Great Family Friendly Hotel"
We said here with my soon-to-be 2 year old and my 5 year old; they had a great time in the pool area! The staff was very helpful/friendly and the breakfast in the morning far exceeded my expectations (it included hot scrambled eggs, sausage links, and waffles besides the normal bagels and toast). "nice hotel"
Very nice hotel, the room was really cold when we got there, and the pool was busy and had a strong chlorine smell but it was clean and very nice, we ended up staying another night, and had a GREAT time, wonderful breakfast and nice staff!

Great place for the wee ones. They loved the two pools and the morning breakfast! Having the steakhouse right next door was an easy evening out for 16 people! Would return to this hotel easily.

This hotel is very clean. Hotel is very kid friendly with small water slide and water fall in pool area. Breakfast eating area was very large and food was hot. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.

We stay here when going to doctor appointments in Chicago. The staff is very courteous and make sure all your needs are met. The breakfast is a great start to the morning, before hitting the road.

"GREAT FAMILY HOTEL"
We have stayed in many hotels and this is the complete package. 1) Rooms are a little above average but very clean and spacious. 2) The pictures do NOT do the pool justice. They have one adult pool, a kiddy pool with a frog slide and fountains, and a seperate hot tub! "Comfy stay, even with the fire alarm"
My 2-year old loved the pool! Everything was great except that the fire alarm went off during the evening hours. The cause of the alarm wasn't investigated (my husband is a fireman and went back inside to see if he could help) by the maintenance staff, the panel was just silenced. "Hotel was ok"
The hotel was our last stop before going to Chicago. It is very close to the highway. Although you can't hear the noise from the cars and trucks the surroundings are not that nice. At least there is a great steakhouse (Longhorn) next to it. The rooms are big, but the furniture is old.

My kids loved the pool especially since it had a smaller kiddie pool with a slide in it. I really wish we could have stayed there longer but interstate traffic held us up so they didn't get to swim long. Very nice hotel!
"Near Bass Pro Shop"
Beds were very confortable - this is something that a lot of other hotels are missing. We enjoyed the size of the suite even though we were there for just 1 night.

First off, the front desk clerk, WOW! She asked if she could help me and I said yes I have a reservation under, she cuts me off and says hold on a sec. That was RUDE!! Then when I was asked for my drivers license, I asked "do you need it out of my wallet (it's such a pain as we all know to get them out of that darn 'SEE THROUGH LINER' so I removed it […] and she BARELY glanced at it and said OK" ugh talk about RUDE!!! I get upstairs and they have fans (as in portable blue blowers fans) running in the hall way right outside my room. No one EVER said anything about WHY!!! I shut it off and never heard a word (can we say LAZY people work here?) The air in the room worked and was nice but, I set it at 70, it went up to 75 then kicked on and brought it to 70 so there were HUGE differences not really the way to cool and or heat a room! Not much else but the couch was REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE!! I know it sounds like I am whining but for waht we pay for a night nowadays, I WILL WHINE AWAY!!! Læs mere

"Portage IN"
The hotel was very nice except we had a hard time sleeping due to children jumping above us in the room above us. The noise was so loud we had to call and complain. The noise continued for the two days we stayed. I also did not like how the general manager turned the channel in the breakfast room as all of my family was watching a certain show. Perfect spot to stay outside of Gary, decent restaurants, bars and shops to check. The pool looked nice, didn't get a chance to swim, but would stay again.

Nice Hotel, large pool area, ok breakfast, clean and good. Heating system to laud and hard to program. Good location. The Management of the Longhorn restaurant next door is terrible. They closed at 7pm because of a little snow and did not have the courtesy to let us know when we sit down. My wife and I spend just a few nights a year in hotels since we are campers at heart. After 31 years of marriage this one was the best yet. We arrived early because we did not know that we were traveling to a different time zone and they were very nice about it and let us check in early. All the staff was very nice from the front desk to the housekeeping […] staff. The room was extremely clean and we both loved the comfortable bed. We were both worried that since this was the most affordable hotel in the area that it might not be all that good. The free breakfast and free paper in the mornings topped off the visit great. We were only there for 2 nights but had a wonderful stay. The staff was really nice, the hotel was very clean, and surprisingly quiet. We found the Adult Swim in the pool/rec area very nice. We were able to swim by ourselves from 10p.m. -11p.m. which is nice without any kids running around splashing. The day we were to check out we were running a little […] late due to a hectic schedule that morning and the hotel gave us an extra hour to check out without any trouble. "Country Inn and Suites Portage, Indiana"
I chose this hotel because of its price and location. I was able to wrap two vacations into one because of its location. I wanted to take my children to the Indiana Dunes State Park and in to Chicago. There wasn't very much in the immediate vacinity of the hotel, but it was close to I-94 and to I80/90. It was about 10 minute drive to the Indiana Dunes […] State Park, to downtown Portage, and to the Dunes Park Station for the South Shore Line of the Northern Indiana Commuter Train. I also chose this hotel because it included a free continental breakfast. The breakfast was very nice there was a different hot entree in a chaffing dish every morning as well as bagels, muffins, toast, cereals, fruits, and make your own belgian waffle. I have two children (3 and 6), that travelled with us. The indoor pool area was nice, it had a decent sized 3 foot to 5 foot pool, a 1 foot wading pool with a slide and a hot tub. We were here for two nights- close by the dune area and also less than two miles to shopping and food. restaurant close by was excellent. Pool area was great the grandkids loved it. OK so room was amazing, lots of space, but King size bed was a tempra-pedic mattress and we didn't sleep well at all. Found out later we could have requested a serta, only 2 nights at hotel so we'll know the info. for the future. The pool area was amazing, best i've ever seen. My husband and I stayed here before a Norte Dame Game. There was a Bass Pro Shop and a steak house near the hotel. The staff and room were nice. It was our first time sleeping on a memory foam bed. "Good customer service and extras"
We enjoyed our stay and felt it was well worth the money. The hotel staff was helpful and fast. The pool, jacuzzi and children's pool area were all more than we expected and we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is newer, but does smell slightly of chlorine, due to the indoor pool. We also appreciated the breakfast available every morning.

The hotel is immaculate from the lobby to the rooms to the amenities. The staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable. The breakfast (included) is great, and the pool area is terrific for all ages, with a toddler pool, hot tub, and big heated 3-5 foot pool. Location is convenient to the Dunes. Don't miss the Bass Pro Shop next door. It's fun!
"Great room for the money"
We just wanted to get away for a night to the beach. Well the weater did not cooperate,but our room was comfortable and clean. What I can say about there bed was it was AMAZING!
