The bed was very uncomfy. But the good out weighted the bad. I'd stay there again.

I was welcome warmly by the front desk. Great people and great place, which is convenient for the surrounding areas and very close to the highway. I will be back again every time I am in the area.

Was very satisfied with my stay. Hotel was older but well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. Came in town for family emergency and the location and price were perfect!! Would stay there again.

When I checked in, a police car was patrolling the parking lot. I asked the front desk if it was a safe area and was told yes. Bottle cap under bed in room. Woke up early and went to the lobby at 5:55am. Hall door to lobby was locked.Had to walk outside to get to front door only to find them LOCKED. Rented 5 rooms all 5 were bad. There was no hot water... only warm water in all 5 One room had a broken toilet handle. two rooms had sinks that didn't drain very well. All rooms were in some state of disrepair.

Price is right. It needs a little maintenence work, but was clean and comfortable. Location is good. Can't complain. I'd stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 weeks in December, for a business stay. Got a microwave oven and room on 2nd floor on the quiet side, as requested. Overall, very good value for such fair price. Only 2 but significant problems: - Shower hot water was often not warm or even cold - Their wireless Internet network has a limited number of users that can connect […] to it, so when there are a lot of customers it's not possible to connect. The trick though in this case is to call the front desk and ask them to "reset the network", wait a little while and try to disable/enable your wireless function several times until you can connect. They are well aware of the problem (as many customers complain everyday) and told me they are going to move to another Internet provider soon. Læs mere

Great value, friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay

This Kenilworth Hotel is ideally located to the NJ Parkway; however, the hotel is in dire need of renovation. It was clean and the staff very helpful, but it is just simply "RUN DOWN." We had to be moved to a second room because the commode did not flush which can happen at any facility. And the commode is apparently made for all "little short people." […] It was so very low. The shower was great. All of this place needs is to be "fixed up" and it would be fine. Could use more parking, however. Læs mere

PROS: The staff was alright (though I didn't really interact much with them but they seem really nice and helpful). The bed was comfortable and I didn't have problems sleeping (once I got to sleep). Breakfast was included in the room price. TV had cable and that's all I needed really. No problem with parking since there was enough spaces and it was […] FREE. Room had a microwave and fridge even though I didn't ask for one. CONS: Unfortunately, the hotel is very very OLD and outdated. Hallway smelled of weed and moldy carpet (and chinese food...). The TV was a CRT TV which is a big thumbs down on my book. The room (despite the no-smoking option) still had remnants of a smoker. I was a single occupant in this room and I somehow felt the hotel was rather "creepy" and the walls were thin so i heard EVERYTHING. We stay at the Kenilworth Inn because it's close to family, but it's time to make a change. In the two years since our last visit, I doubt that one single repair has been made. The furniture is shabby, there's a hole in the wall of the room where we stayed, and worst of all, every corner of the building has a very heavy smell of cigarette smoke -- including […] the "non-smoking" rooms. In terms of amenities ... well, there's weak Wi-Fi and sugary doughnuts "straight from New York City," if that's what you like. There's a bar that attracts a horde of noisy smokers and fills up the parking lot. There are paper-thin walls that let you enjoy the conversations next door. Best thing about it? Comfortable and clean with helpful staff. Only drawback is the continental breakfast. While included in the tariff, it was VERY limited in scope (only 1 kind of cold cereal, no fruit -- just a variety of muffins and bagels of mediocre quality).

only thing that really bothered us was the area of the rooms that were fir smokers. we're used to non-smoking hotels.

Great for a one-night stay. Seconds from the GSP, & only a few blocks from very nice, very diverse, restaurants in town center.

There is nothing else in the area, and this one fits the bill. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the room conditions deteriorate each time I stay here. I may have to choose a different hotel if they don't start cleaning and fixing. TV did not work, table was wobbly, it just looks run down. We had a large quiet room on the side away from the Garden State Parkway. We had a few requests like extra pillows and a microwave which were satisfied quickly. Great bagels with the included continental breakfast. Excellent price, would stay there again.

The Kenilworth Inn was satisfactory. I wasn't looking for luxury, and I wasn't disappointed. It is an older property that had the "old hotel" smell to it. Also, there was a HEAVY cigarette smike smell in the hallway every evening when I returned from work. As a former smoker, I almost choked whenever I walked in the hallway. Once I was in my room it […] was ok. The room included a small "dorm" refrigerator. The problem was the switch was broken so it was set to its coldest setting. I put some soda cans in it and was awakened at 3 AM to one of the cans exploding because it froze. The lobby was very nice and the fish tank next to the front desk was kept in excellent condition. The coninental breakfast was sparse on some mornings and seating limited. The staff were extremely nice and helpful when called upon. There is a large grocery store right next door and several eateries within easy walking distance. Overall, it was an OK stay for a business traveller. Anyone travelling with small kids or someone with asthma should avoid this property as the cigarette smoke smell in the hallways was overpowering and stifling. Læs mere

Was told this was a smoke free location - my first room was awful as it was dingy, outdated and had a very very strong odor of smoke. The trash cans were overflowing outside and trash all over the grounds. The tub was leaking and was stained with rust. I asked to be moved to another room - which was done immediately. However, the second room also had […] a strong odor of cigarette smoke. In the morning, I could hardly breathe and was coughing the rest of the day. I will never stay here again and will definitely not recommend it. The one shining light was Lynn at the front desk. She was very professional and courteous and tried her best to accommodate me. Despite the photo which looks like a manor house, this is little more than a highway-side motel. The rooms are adequate, albeit poorly lit with few outlets, ancient TVs that only show 10 channels and old plumbing. The hotel layout is snakelike and confusing, with long, dank halls and mysterious green doors that connect more halls. There is effectively, […] no on-site food. The "restaurant" is a shared meeting room which, at breakfast, has boxed cereal, luke warm hot water, over-warmed coffee, single-package instant oatmeal and an archaic toaster for supermarket bagels. The "evening" offerings are primarily microwaved pizzas and other vending machine quality food, served in the makeshift bar. There are virtually no nearby restaurants other than mediocre Chinese and Italian, which deliver (the diet of choice to hotel guests). This is really only worth staying at as a stop-gap in the midst of a long road trip -- grab a quick sleep and retreat to a highway rest stop for far better offerings of company or to eat or drink. It is far from Niagara Falls but its worth it

Our room was large & clean. The staff was very pleasant. The location is convenient if you're traveling the Garden State Parkway (it's just a stones throw from an exit). Over-all a great value for the price.

This was the worst experience of our hotel life. The room was SMELLY we had to check out early because it was disgusting.The pool was green with moss.

this hotel is definitely worth the price. Yes, it is an older hotel but that means you get a bigger room than the standard, newer hotels. Sure, it could use an upgrade, but i wasn't concerned about the wallpaper! The room was clean and nice and big. The beds were a little hard for our liking but not terrible. The breakfast is okay (bagels, pastries […] and donuts) but the fact that it was included was impressive. The room had a mini fridge as well! Overall, a great value. Læs mere

If you are on a budget and want a hotel that is about 30 min from NYC, would like a continental breakfast and a working pool..this is the hotel for you. My wife and I stayed in a double room with our two children (2 & 4) for two nights and it was perfect. There is a kids village (indoor playground) and large nice supermarket right across the street. […] It was not seedy and seemed to have allot of long term business stays. Merck pharmaceuticals is right up the road. It is clearly an older hotel but was not seedy. It has more character than a days inn but you could tell it was once quite nice. Kenilworth is a quite little town in Elizabeth and most stores were closed by 11PM. The hotel staff were professional and nice. Pleasantly surprised. Læs mere

had a non-smoking room, but the hotel was a smoking pit, smelled horribly. the ice maker tray was moldy, the front desk was understaffed and uninformative, gave wrong information, or just didn't know what we were talking about. free breakfast was doughnuts and bagels, pool was open from 9-9, so kids had to play quickly, after our day out, it was clean […] however, seemed ok.... the place is old and run down, and needs updating real bad, paint, tiles, carpets, all in disrepair. They had a bar that we didnt utilize, and it seems they have a meeting room as well, that we didn't utilize.... they had vending machines with a wide choice of items, including bath and medicines if needed.... a stay up late grocery store across the alley was convenient, free wi-fi had to be reset 3 times, but they had free printing in lobby :) thanks, we needed that! would not visit again, sorry Læs mere

Hotel is nice, clean and decent. Spacious rooms. Convenient location. Breakfast is good. Now to minuses. Almost always there is a party in their banquet hall. Coz of that, there is no parking available if you arrive late in the night. Party hall is far away from rooms though. Although the party guests are mostly quiet, you can hear once in a while someone […] talking loud. Air conditioner sounds like a jumbo jet. Rooms wise, they are ok for now. We found the staff to be very helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the donuts for breakfast.

It was so hot in my place lights went outs in buliding. So i decided to check in a hotel for the night not knowing when PSE&G will fix the problem. The stay was great.

Great hotel. The service at the front desk was good. The breakfast must be to improve to compare to other hotels which serves the same service. No internet WIFI from three days, it was too bad, I paid $21 interest to my bank, because i didn't pay my invoice on time?!.

Property could definitely use some updating but our room was very large, comfortable and clean They were hosting a wedding the evening we arrived, but we were never bothered with any noise. The continental breakfast was just OK but the staff was very helpful with some questions and directions we needed.
