The outside looks like any other concrete building in Reykjavik. The interior is great - classy - Icelandic art (paintings, drawings) everwhere. Nice, clean rooms. Great breakfast. Fantastic bar. Quiet area - walk to down-town in 10 minutes. And: very close to the volcano show - go an watch!

This is the oldest hotel in Reykjavik. Excellent service from hotel staff when it comes to advices on excursions etc.. They also helped with booking trips etc. The hotel has the biggest private art collection (of paintings) in Reykjavik (I was told) and it had a very nice bar with excellent Whiskey selections. My room was clean and nice but not the […] highest quality. We were two people, had not specified that we wanted two single beds, and got one big bed. When I asked for a room with single beds, the hotel did not have that available. However they offered us two rooms instead (without any additional fees) until they cold move us into a twin bed room the next day. the bed was super soft and comfortable! but there are still a few things that i wasn't so pleased about. The Wifi signal was too weak that i had to use a cable in the end(the service was good) The wall and door seals not so good that i can hear the noises from the upper floor and the corridor, was a bit disturbing, fortunately in the evening it was […] all quiet. Old fashioned high quality Hotel with best location available in Reykjavik and this time for very good price. I can gladly recommend this for everyone

This hotel is in an amazing location. It's within walking distance to all attractions but on a side street for a more quiet setting. The front desk is very helpful and the morning buffet and free wi-fi made up for any difference in cost between this hotel and a less expensive hotel. I would highly recommend the hotel HOLT. The staff were great, the food and location were excellent and it was very good value for money. 5 out of 5.

Nothing to complain about!!

The hotel has a very good restaurant with a lot of art on the walls, in a very traditional athmosphere, from local Icelandic painters. I recommend all guests to visit this culinaric restaurant.

Excellent place to stay. Rooms themselves pleasant and comfortable, decent-sized though not large. Lovely communal areas to sit and relax in, and fascinating artwork on display there and in the hotel corridors and rooms. Would highly recommend the restaurant if you can afford it. Wireless free if sometimes erratic.

The hotel was a little dated, and the room was a little crowded for 3 people. Bathroom was a little small and not much counter/space to put things, but those were my only complaints. We found […] out that the hotel was built a long time ago, but was limited for senators and people of importance to stay. Service was friendly- they arranged for our airport ride, gave us late checkout. Just be aware that if you come home late at night, someone has to come open the door because they lock the main doors. My girlfriend and I stayed at Hotel Holt for 5 nights, and had booked a twin/double (only available) so I contacted the hotel about getting a double room. No problems there, they were quick to reply and extremely helpful. During our stay the service was impeccable and they helped with confirming bookings etc - excellent service and very nice room and […] big new bathroom. This hotel was just what I expected and more. Lovely room, quiet neighborhood, excellent staff, delicious breakfast, and a five minute walk to the main shopping street. The hotel is well cared for and my room was very clean. Beautiful oil paintings by Icelandic artists and oriental rugs make this hotel really special.

We have only good things to say about the Hotel Holt. The hotel is very clean, conveniently located, and very quiet and comfortable. And best of all, they have terrific service! Here are just a few examples of the service: My wife called the desk for an ironing board and iron. It was brought to our room in minutes! There are no ice machines on the […] floors, so we called the desk about getting some ice in our room and the desk manager had ice at our door in a couple minutes. When we checked out, we intentionally left a small article behind in the room, not wanting it any longer, and the hotel staff promptly alerted us by email that they found the article and were concerned if we wanted it sent on. These and several other examples demonstrate why the Hotel Holt impressed us with their awesome service. We'll happily return here and recommend it based on our experience. Læs mere

If the Holt hotel had looked at our booking request (from 4 months before) for a double bed, our experience here would have been more positive. They gave us a twin - when we pointed it out, unfortunately they said they had no double bedded rooms available, so the only thing they could do was downgrade us to a queen size bed which they use for single […] guests. I get tired of hoteliers saying 'you can just push the 2 beds together'. The answer is 'no you can't - there is a big dip in the middle, and why on earth should I just for your convenience?'. The girl on reception did her best by offering us breakfast (we had booked on a room only basis) but I still felt disappointed. Læs mere

The Hotel is very comfortable and warm. The junior suite we stayed in was roomy. We had buffet breakfast included which was good. The bar prices were expensive. The Hotel Holt is a wonderful little hotel conveniently located near the center of Reykjavik. The room though small was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful making reservations for excursions, giving directions etc. The buffet breakfast they offer each morning is adequate to start your day.( We had it included in our rate). The staff were all very friendly and the location of the hotel was great. Very handy to have a carpark too. Excellent hotel restaurant.

The hotel staff was so friendly and nice. We arrived very early in the morning, ~7:30am. Our room obviously was not ready. The front desk staff offered us a room to shower if we wanted. We rested in its lounge area instead. We actually fell asleep. Since this lounge is a private room, the staff closed the door and put a "Do Not Disturb" sign. We woke […] up around noon when our room was ready! We often went back to the hotel very late at night after our tour. The front desk staff was more than willing to try to book our next tour for next morning. And when the pick up was late, they automatically called the tour company for us. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood within easy walking distance of downtown (5 to 10 minutes depending on where downtown). Especially on weekends you don't want to be on the noisy main streets where the bars and restaurants are in Reykjavik. This place has a lot of character -- original paintings, prints and maps in the halls and rooms, and […] the concierge and reception staff offer friendly, personal service. Within a few blocks are a bank, two bakeries where you can pick up breakfast, a supermarket, a lovely park surrounding a lake, and a major bus stop for city buses (though if you have mobility issues, be forewarned it's on a hill so the walking is not flat). You can arrange to take "Golden Circle" tours at the front desk and get picked up at the hotel. Excellent gourmet restaurant on the premises, and a somewhat less expensive and fun seafood restaurant around the corner. The neighborhood is charming and very safe at night. Also be aware the "fitness room" is one of the hotel rooms with a treadmill, a stationary bike and a TV, period. They give you a voucher to use for free use of the fitness and pool facilities at the Laugardalar. The pools out there are vast, with several hot tubs; didn't look at the fitness room, but had a great time swimming. It's in a totally different part of town, though, had to take buses or a cab to get there, and at night the buses run infrequently, though I did manage. Læs mere

Good hotel. Other hotels nearby are almost similar in quality for much less. This is a good place to avoid street noise.

Wonderful staff and great location. I booked a few months early, but for the busy travel season I had a really great rate, made all the better thanks to an upgrade at check-in to a fourth floor jr suite with a wonderful view of the city and nearby pond/lake. All the tour companies knew the location of the hotel and the morning breakfast was wonderful […] based on past offerings at hotels in Northern Europe (not quite as robust by American standards, but that isn't a bad thing). Even though the room was near the elevator, hallway noise was never and issue. While the room was very modern, clean and well appointed, the lobby and hallways had the feel and appearance of a grand and old-style hotel. The walls were filled with beautiful original artwork. Cozy European-style lobby. Lots of lounges, reading rooms. Classy white tablecloth breakfast room. Artwork on all the walls. Room was a bit smaller than expected, but adequate closet and drawer space. A good deal all around.

The food we had for our dinner at the Holt was excellent. The buffet breakfast was good as well. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We would not hesitate to stay at the Holt if we return to Iceland.

Stannar ofta i Reykjavik och provar olika hotell under några nätter. Väljer hotell efter stjärnbeteckningen, läget och gästernas åsikter. Hotell Holt lever inte upp till de fyra stjärnor det stoltserar med. - Hotellet kanske var fräscht för 20 år sedan; nu är det precis tvärtom. Ett fyrstjärnigt hotell måste framför allt satsa på rummen och sovstandarden. […] Mitt enkelrum var ett ca 10 kvadratmeter stort skyffe med en smal sängbotten i ett hörn med lutande madrass och håliga, fläckade lakan som borde ha kastats länge sedan. Rummet saknade den lovade vattenkokaren och radion fungerade inte. TV visade få utländska kanaler, tex ingen riktig nyhetskanal på engelska. Vidare står det i hotellets beskrivning om att det finns både handdush och takdusch, dock fungerade de bara tillsammans, icke var för sig. Det fattades också läslampa för sängen. Halva rummet fylldes med en jättestor , gammal och sliten, på köpet obekväm läderfåtölj. Hotellet skulle vara en rökfri fastighet men tydligen används reservutgången som fritt rökutrymme. Samma gäller den gemensamma balkongen. Hotellet var också lyhört. Frukosten var en smaklös upplevelse med bl.a kalla kokta egg varje morgon, dåligt skött, tidvis rådde kaos på grund av brist på personal. De stora umgängesytorna fyllda med utsökt fin konst kan ej kompensera ovannämnda brister. Ej heller den påtvingade vänligheten från personalens sida. Restaurangen ej prisvärt trots vacker inredning. Som helhet är hotellet överreklamerat, det finns bättre alternativ i samma prisklass. Och - sevicen är vänlig överallt i Island. Læs mere

　２週間滞在しました。４つ星ホテルとはいえ、日本の高級ホテルのように洗練された清潔さや慮るサービスはありませんが、こちらから要求すれば快く応じてもらいました。 　部屋は暖かいですが、その分乾燥が激しいので何か対策を練るとよいと思います。 　朝食に関しては、静かな雰囲気のなかで落ち着いて食べることができます。料理自体はどこのホテルも同じような感じですが、りんごやオレンジが常においてあることと、アオかびのチーズがとても気に入りました。りんごは頼めばこころよく切ってもらえます。 　ランチも食べてみましたが、かなりおすすめできるおいしさでした。ビーフかつがとくにおいしかったです。ただ、ホテルを運営している会社とは別らしいので、宿泊客も財布を忘れず持っていってください。 　夕方になるとたまに受付のひと […] がどっかにいっていて、受付の電話をしてもつかまらないことがありますので、近くにちょっと夕飯にいくぐらいなら、鍵を持って行った方がよさそうです。 　防音対策はなく、一日だけ隣のカップルの声が夜中の３時ごろにまで響いて困りましたが、まぁ許容範囲です。ただ、それはよっぽどの場合で、ふつうは落ち着いた客層が多いので、基本的に静かで心地よかったです。 　なにより素晴らしいのが、立地です。中心からほんの少しだけ外れているので、便利さと静かさを両立しています。 　個人的にはヒルトンホテルに泊まろうかなとも思ったのですが、費用を考えてこちらにしました。十分満足です。落ち着いた雰囲気のホテルを好む方にはおすすめします。 Læs mere

Tross i at jeg hadde rom over et konferanserom der det ved to anledninger glemte å slå av viften, og som stod og "durte" lenge. Jeg ringte resepsjonen, og de løste det med en gang. Dagen etter den første telefonen, kom en fra resepsjonen og beklaget så mye, og inviterte meg på middag på husets regning. Schönes Hotel in zentraler Lage mit einer ausgezeichneten Küche und guter Weinauswahl. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

bra läge, bra frukost, finfin restaurang för god middag, trevlig personal

Greit hotell, Romene er greie nok. Frokosten inneholder det nødvendigste ikke noe fantastisk utvalg. Men det er kort avstand til Reykjavik Sentrum. Ser vesentlig bedre ut på innsiden en det gjør utenfra.

Fine rom, bra frokost, gratis parkering. Anbefales!

Det så litt trist ut fra utsiden, men vel inne ble alt bra. Hygelig betjening, nydelig mat i restauranten, imponerende vinkart og den største private kunstsamlingen i Island. Et klassisk litt gammeldags hotell på en hyggelig måte. Kommer til å bo der neste gang også!

Hotelli Holt sijaitsee rauhallisen kadun varrella 300 metriä pääostoskadusta ja vilkkasta baari- ja yöelämästä. Holt on vanhanajan laatuhotelli, jossa palvelun ystävällisyys ja säntillisyys ovat kunniassaan. Huoneet ovat pienehköjä, mutta erittäin siistejä ja 70-80-luvun henkeen sisustettuja. Yleisissä tiloissa silmiinpistävää on mittava islaintilaisen […] taiteen määrä kaikissa tiloissa. Holtin ravintola Gallery edustaa ranskalais-islantilaista gastronomiaa parhaimmillaan, ja täydentyy erittäin laajalla ja korkeatasoisella, mutta hinnaltaan kohtuullisella viinilistalla. Aamiaistarjoilu on runsas ja tunnelmaltaan rauhallinen, erikoisuutena coolerissa jäähdetetty kalanmaksaöly. Ravintolahenkilöstön palvelualttius ja viinitietämys ovat huipppuluokkaa,. Perinteistä arvokkuutta henkivä baari tarjoaa poikkeuksellisen laajan valikoiman mallasviskejä ja konjakkeja sekä huippuviinejä laseittain. Puutteena voi mainita oman saunaja spa-osaston puutteen sekä ennen digiaikaa olevan tv-ohjelmatarjonnan. Hotell Holt bærer preg av høy kvalitet, både på personale, innredning, utsmykning og servering. Det er godt å komme til et slikt hotell!

Eit fullservicehotell i ordets rette tyding. Klassisk stil, vennleg og sørvisinnstilt personale og god hotellrestaurant. På den andre sida noko små rom

litt små rom, men ellers var det supert beliggende hotell, rent og pent med god service.
