Grand Hotel De La Ville - Sorrento

Fabulous hotel, very traditional but immaculate with lots of character. Rooftop pool with amazing views of bay of naples. lovely area under the orange trees where breakfast is served. Staff are very good too. I would return. Only a few minutes walk to one of the main squares in sorrento, piazza lauro.

The hotel was clean, staff was always friendly and helpful, and the location is super-convenient. Its about a 5 minute walk from the train/bus station and another 5 minutes to the center of town as well as the Marina where all the ferries depart. We were disappointed by staff responsiveness to provide a corkscrew and knife to our room. We were not able to enjoy our wine and food on the patio and forced to eat and drink in our rooms. We had to have someone open the wine bottle which was very disappointing. Extra charges for cappuccino at breakfast seemed inappropriate based on the room rates […] and linens on the table!! I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel. I wish the beach was open when we went as well as the rooftop bar and pool. The room looks a bit different in person than it did in the pictures but overall was a great hotel, especially compared to all of the other ones surrounding it. WE VERY MUCH ENJOYED OUR HOTEL. THE RATES FORWHAT YOU GET WERE GREAT FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. OF COURSEE IT WAS THE END OF THE SE.ASON SO THE POOL AND RESTAURANT WERE CLOSED. BUT THE BREAKFAST WAS BOUNTIFUL. STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND THE ROOM WAS SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE. CLOSE TO TRAIN STATION, BUT TAXIS ARE A RIP -OFF IN THIS TOWN. DON'T. The staff were so helpful! We had lost a passport at Naples airport and they helped us by telephoning the police station and the British Consulate in Rome. Despite the stress of our situation the hotel was a haven of calm and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely go back again!

Other than a slight mix-up with room type requested (twin versus double) that was quickly corrected by the housekeeping staff my stay was about perfect. The included breakfast provided plenty of options to fuel up for some long riding days along the Amalfi Coast and the two restaurants on location offered just as many options to recharge after riding. […] My stay was off the main season in late October so there weren't issues with waiting to get in for dinner or breakfast. We arrived tired from Florence via the high speed Trenitalia and then the circumversuvisia. The hotel was like heaven after the latter. Everything was faultless. We had a room with a magnificent view over the bay towards Naples.

We stayed for 5 nights in October 2012. Great experience from check in through to departure. Room, with views of the Bay of Naples / Mount Vesuvius, was spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed. Very good breakfast. Staff and the service provided was friendly, excellent. Highly recommended.

We loved this hotel. Th location is perfect close to everything you would need. We stayed in a premier room on the top floor so had breathtaking views over the bay and Vesuvius from our balcony. We stayed on a B & B basis and breakfasts were excellent! We had a light lunch there on a our first day and the menu was varied and the food great. We did not […] dine there in the evenings as we wanted to explore the restaurants in town of which there are many. However the menu looked fabulous. The staff were just wonderful, so friendly and helpful and helped to make our stay a memorable one. We used the sun terrace on the roof a couple of times though it can get busy. Better was to use the pier down by the marina of the sister hotel "The Royal" a few minutes walk away for which we had free access. Far fewer people there and the sea was warmer than the pool. For the price I paid i expected more from this hotel. it is a good hotel and located within walking distance to the ferry, but that's about it. the staff are great especially Fabiana and Lucio. I would like to say I'll stay here again, but not for the price it cost.

The staff at Grand Hotel de la Ville, Reception, Porter, Cleaners, Waiters, Cooks, everyone could not have been more friendly, courteous, efficient and helpful. The superb breakfasts in the citrus grove were a treat. The whole stay was a joy!

this is a great hotel with a walking distance to the train station.Our room had a sea view ( a little bit obstracted), but still nice to have,with just one con - the hotel stands on the busy street and you can hear the noices ( motocycles,cars,etc). Overall I like this hotel.

The hotel does not have the "wow" factor, or dramatic views of some other hotels in Sorrento, but makes up for this by the wonderful staff, well maintained, clean accomodation and convenient location near to train and bus station and easy level walk into the centre of town. The choice of food at breakfast was great, catering for all tastes.

The staff and the view make this hotel a treat to stay in. We would have liked a less expensive dinner menu but the lunch food was great and good value. Get a sea view if you can. The pools are a little deep for a beginner seven year old. The staff are unbelievably friendly.

On arrival we were greeted by two friendly staff who made us feel most welcome. Our room was on the third floor to the front of the building with amazing views over the Bay of Naples. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast was excellent, both the food and the friendly and efficent service […] of the staff. The hotel had two pools one on the roof which was small but had amazing views over the Bay of Naples and surronding area. We had lunch serveral times in the Garden which was excellent and very good value. Hotel was only about a 5 to 10 min walk from the centre of Sorrento. It was wonderful! Staff was so friendly and helpful! Loved that there were two pools. The location was a 5 minute walk to go into main area. It really was not a big deal. To go down to the ferry area was far to walk with luggage.

The hotel is perfectly located, the rooms lovely and the staff efficient. Breakfast and food great. The 2 things that let this hotel down and not being superb are the 2 pools. The rooftop pool being the size of a jacuzzi and always ice cold and in August almost impossible to find a sunbed. Friendly front of house staff, a very good breakfast, and the roof top pool was nice if a bit small. Everyone was helpful and driving around to Amalfi was no problem. The view from our room of Vesuvius was breath taking. The hotel parking was more than expected but at least we knew the car would be safe.

We had a fantastic stay in the the Grand Hotel De La Ville in Sorrento.The staff we extrememly pleasant and helpful and the room was lovely with a great balcony. I would have been nice to have a kettle in the room, instead of always having to phone room service, but this was a very minor thing. A great, cental hotel with excellent fascilities.

The hotal and its location was very good but unfortunately we were on the 1st floor which meant we were extremely close to the road and there was a lot of noise from cars and mopeds. The Hotel Royal was lovely and we used the facilities of the pool, restaurant and beach areas every other day until on the last day we were informed by reception at The […] Royal that we were not allowed to use the pool or restaurant areas, only the beach. This was after we had spent a lot of money in all areas - very strange! Tea and coffee making facilities in all rooms would have made it perfect. Læs mere

Location outside center of town, outside of a lovely lemon grove. Excellent breakfast buffet and well trained staff make the experience a special one. Lobby and physical plant could use a "face lift" to bring it more up to date and give a fresher feeling. Some facilities were not open, which was disappointing...ie, bar by pool never open or manned, […] which would have been nice on the hot summer days we visited. Hotel is in a great location - less than 10 min walk from the train/bus station & the Piazza Tasso. We had a deluxe room that was large & very comfortable & although we did have a seaview looking out to Vesuvius there was a road & another building between us. Staff are all very friendly & helpful, restaurant & poolside in particular. Excellent choice […] for breakfast & we loved starting the day in the idyllic courtyard shaded by orange & lemon trees. We found the bathing deck & pool area at the Royal (sister hotel just down the road) suited us better although the roof-top area does have splendid views. This is an oasis on the edge of Sorrento with a lovely garden patio, large pool area and a roof top terrace with a great view. The included breakfast was excellent and the staff was very attentive. Housekeeping did a great job. Our room was on the street side and low down so we had some noise from vehicles and early morning trucks. Hotel is very clean. Location is a short walk to the downtown area. The pool areas are kept clean. Did seem to tend to an "older" crowd...mostly retirees. Good value for the money.

We would highly recommend this hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They upgraded our room without us asking. The view of Mt. Vesuvius was spectacular from our room and the pool. The room was immaculate and absolutely beautiful with tiled floor and bathroom. It was also the biggest hotel room we stayed in all of Italy (bigger than the Starhotels). […] They actually had more English speaking channels than our hotel in Rome. The courtyard was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable and the dinner is incredible. The Wait Staff are extremely attentive. We stayed in 4 different cities in Italy in two weeks and this was by far the BEST hotel! Excellent location close to the town and main train station. Beautifully decorated and high class furnishings. Pillows were a little to hard and due to the tile floors other guests cause excessive noise when they drag their chairs accrose the tile floors. All floors in rooms and hallways are tile therefore their is the high chance of being disturbed […] by activity in other rooms and the hallways.But a very high end establishment and very friendly staff.
