"Abel Tasman"
Close to shops and town, but the room we had was tiny with barely any room for 2 suitcase's. Bed was comfortable but TV was tiny and there was a strange burning smell coming from the bathroom.

Everything was very good except we could smell smoke in our room. Also we were not aware that we would have had to upgrade to get more than 3 TV channels.

The ad suggested it was a 4 star accomodation. I usually stay in a 3 star in Wellington that is much cleaner. The rooms needed maintanence. Not an enjoyable stay.

As this was my first trip to Wellington it was very nice to have such friendly staff that made you feel so welcome ill most definately be back to stay Im a vollenteer Ambulance Officer in North Canterbury & the break away was wonderful Thanks so much
"Great place to stay, with only one issue"
Looks like an older building that has been nicely furnished -- so it has some flaws, but they can be considered character. There is no air conditioning (I guess Wellington's climate doesn't really call for it), but the front desk supplied a fan upon request; between that and the open window everyone was comfortable. Convenient location, but sound traveled […] easily from the street and from the next room. Very big, spacious, and very nice staff. Loved the provided hot cocoa! My only real complaint is that the water in the shower was always scalding (turning the knob just gave you less water pressure but didn't change the temperature). Læs mere
"Nice location in downtown Wellington"
The hotel was conveniently located in downtown area of Wellington. Close to restaurants and bars as well as shopping. Its also close to the ferry (~10min drive). Parking is availble for a price, but better off on the street as the garage is small and spaces are extremely tight. Our only complaint: our room was extremely hot at night. We could not find […] the thermostat and only one small window could be opened. It made it uncomfortable for sleeping. Læs mere

The room condition is good as it is clean and well maintained. The staff is helpful and always cheerful. My only complaint is the door locking system which should provide more security (door can be open from outside after closing unless knob is manually turned and no latch) even though the hotel is located in the city area.
