The Hotel Monterey Ginza is located in a centre of major sites, such as Tsukiji Market (15min walk), Yuracucho's IT Mall - BIC Camera (15min walk), Imperial Garden (20min walk) and the shopping district of Ginza (5min walk). Right outside the Hotel, we could easily get supplies from 2 convenience store and there is the Ginza-itchome station. The Hotel […] staff speak good English and were extremely helpful in advising us on directions. They would assist you with making restaurant bookings if you cannot speak Japanese. On the Hotel facilities, newly installed WIFI facility seemed to work only in the lobby and not in the room. You can still access the LAN but do bring your own Eternet cable. Lastly, the bed was quite stiff but we could not complain since the hotel was already a steal given the excellent location, reasonable pricing and high standard of cleanliness. Læs mere

Nice clean hotel in Ginza, Central Tokyo. The hotel offers great value for the money. It’s an old hotel in French colonial style. The rooms are small (it’s Tokyo) but clean and accommodates everything you need. The bathrooms are newly renovated and Wi-Fi are available in all rooms for free. Ginza is Tokyo's answer to Regent's street or Les Champs-Elysées. All ABCD… name brands store are represented there like Apple, Boss, Chanel, Dior etc. There are several of the Tokyo’s top tourist attractions within walking distance; Tsukiji fish market (10 min), Imperial palace (15 min) and Sony Center (10 min). There are also several restaurants close to the hotel that are not crazy expensive that you otherwise would read about in Ginza. I can really recommend this hotel. Læs mere

Location of hotel is great. Close to shops and subways and restaurants. Room small, no drawers for clothes and closet much too small for a 10 day stay. Room very warm. Need to contact front desk to turn on the air and also unlock windows to the outdoors. Wish we had known that bit of info about the air/window unlock earlier in our stay. This hotel is good location in Ginza. If you alight at Ginza subway station, exit no.13, then go straight and turn right at Xxsell store. It's located next to Mercure Hotel. It's even more convenient if you alight at Ginza itchome subway station, exit no.11. Hotel is surrounds by luxury shops and restaurants. The service was really poor, the room was dirty, in the evening we would still find the rubbish we had left in the morning. This hotel was really expensive compared to what we actually got. We stayed at cheaper and much nicer hotels. The location was good. Close to Ginza and Yūrakuchō Station.

Loved the service delivered. The front desk was very helpful with directions and maps. It was with in walking distance to the Ginza shopping strip!

Within minutes walk from Ginza main shops and from Tokyo train station. Clean room, but rather small. No breakfast option. But easy to location cafe nearby.

Hotel was very close to the metro station (Ginza Ichome). Only 2 mins walk from the hotel. There was also a convenience store, drug store, MacDonalds n Subway within 5mins from the hotel. Hotel was small but enough room for two. Bathtub was a bit small. Overall, not a bad option if you want convenience.

This hotel is really well located for exploring Tokyo. Close to loads of subway lines, an ok walk (with trolley cases) from Tokyo station and lots going on in the surrounding area (especially if you like shopping, as Ginza is a shopping Mecca). We arrived from the airport at midday and our room was ready for us which was a huge bonus, and the room itself […] was quiet and clean. Our view was primarily of the tower block next door so that made the room pretty dark but the main problem with it was the heat. It wasn't until the morning we left that we noticed a tiny sign on the window telling us to contact reception if the temperature was uncomfortable. I'd definitely recommend taking this up with the staff if you find it a problem - to us it was stiflingly hot. Do not let the pictures of the hotel rooms fool you. The rooms are small. We had a room with two beds. Two single beds. You can not sleep four people in this room. The room was so small that the heat from the mini refrigerator kept the room at 75 degrees when the outside temperature was in the mid 40's. There is central cooling and heating so you have […] very little control of temperature. I finally had the front desk open the window for me. There is no storage for cloths so you live out of your suitcase. The closet is so small cloths must be installed side wise. Læs mere

Excellent location. The single room was NOT what was pictured in the superior single category. My room was about 80 square feet. There was barely enough room for my suitcase. The double room that I had later in my stay was plenty big for my colleague and I and our suitcases. Also, the hotel had not checked my preferences, and I was stuck with a smoking […] room the first night. They were able to move me to a nonsmoking room for the 2nd and 3rd nights. They also couldn't understand my question about the superior single vs regular single room. They very willingly stored our bags while we went to other places in Japan for a few days. Great location. Right next to a subway entrance and only about 10-min walk to a JR station (Yurakucho). Very well arranged in-room furniture in such a small space made us feel the room's got plenty of space to walk around. Got everything a 4-5-star hotel would offer. Great design! Location is good in ginza, surround by high end shops and resturants, at least you feel safe! Even though its a bit quiet at night. Size of the twin room is good for 2 people( Japan standard)! But hotel has no wifi need to plug in for Internet!!

We arrived at the hotel at 12:00 noon on our day of check in. We were told that our room would be ready in a half an hour, but that if we checked in before 3 pm there would be a surcharge. We have never heard of such a concept. They would rather have the room empty for two hours than let us get in and change after flying all night, if we refused to […] be extorted by the surcharge. It was our first time to Tokyo, Japan and didn't have an idea of where to stay or which hotel to choose. So, we did a little research on the web (hotel.com) and decided on the Monterey Ginza after reading the reviews. Pleasantly surprised to find the hotel right smack in the center of Ginza which was great. Hotel looked really classy from the outside […] and inside. Reminds me of New York somehow. Very convenient location if you're looking to run around Tokyo. The metro was just around the corner, literally 1 minute away walking distance. That will get you connected to all the other stations. If you're into high street fashion, Ginzais the place to go.McDonald's is also around the corner, about 5 minutes walk. There are 3 convenience stores just outside the hotel (7eleven) type which opens 24hours. A number of japanese restaurants as well. There is also a Starbucks opposite the McD's. All within 5 mins from the hotel. Overall, great location and comfortable hotel. Rooms are a bit small though, so its best to travel light. Læs mere

I arrived close to midnight and the hotel was still staffed (I later learned that not all Japanese hotels have late night check-in). The staff were friendly and spoke English. The room was small, but just right for one person, and was nicely decorated. However, I'd have to agree with other reviewers that the walls need a fresh coat of paint. It appeared […] something sprayed all over the wall and there were smudges everywhere else. The bathroom was nice and, typical of Japanese hotels, had a good offering of toiletries. The room had free internet via a short ethernet cord. I recommend you bring a longer cord if you wish to lay in bed and browse the web (I was tethered to the desk the whole time.) The Ginza neighborhood is very swanky and fun to walk around. Though I will say you should have a fat wallet if you expect to shop here! Tokyo station is a 15 minute walk away and nearby Tokyo Metro stops connect you with the rest of the city. There's also 3 convenience stores across the street that offer boxes meals. I shopped here as I opted not to dine in the expensive hotel restaurant. All in all, a good stay but for the price, I expected a little more modern hotel room. Læs mere

Location is superb, except no direct subway/train connection to Tokyo Station (for Narita Express) nearby. Have to take cab if you have luggage. Price is good for the location and quality. Stayed 10 nights in this hotel over Christmas. Loved Gina, its a great district. High end shopping, can stay out late and walk back to hotel and feel safe. Close to all sub lines. If you are a westerner then you will be shocked at room size, etc as its not like a US hotel. Rooms are small but normal for Tokyo. We were shocked first day but realized […] we were staying in a mega city and over abundance of space is not going to happen. Its part of the experience. Hotel staff was the best and always someone there that spoke English and would map out our daily activities via sub lines etc. I would stay again and also recommend to others. Læs mere

Convenient to access from Narita Airport (only 1 inter-change and took about 90 mins). Located quite near to points of attraction, e.g. Ginza, Tsukiba, Shimbashi. My double bed (48-inch width) was actually wider than the norm in Tokyo and could take 2 persons sleep comfortably. It would be my first choice in my next visit to Tokyo.

Nearly everything about this hotel was excellent: Price, location, cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness of staff. The only slight negative was the difficulty in regulating the temperature of the room; but the staff went out of their way to rectify this.

Value for money. Excellent location good breakfast choice. Rooms small but adequate. Excellent choice of restaurants and cosy bars in area. Recommended.

Having never been to Tokyo Japan before, I searched for multiple hotel options and decided on the Hotel Monterey in Ginza. It's convenient close to Tokyo Station if you're taking the Narita Express from Narita airport and it's a short 10-15 min walk to the hotel or one subway stop away. The hotel is located in a prime shopping district with Bvlgari, […] Cartier and Apple just around the corner. The hotel is super clean, no wifi but there's ethernet in the room. The only issue while I was there was the heating in the room which was unsually warm but otherwise it was great comfortable stay. Læs mere

Room was so small that we could not feel comfortable. The wall was dirty. The bed was so hard and they gave us only one pillow. TV card was sold on the hall way but did not give any detail information on the program, which ended up to find only when we used it. They were mostly porn programs but was not informed well. We had to turn it off urgently […] as we had a kid. I do not recommend the hotel for foreign guests as its size was so small and did not meet the standard of the satisfaction for the price. Læs mere

Walking distance from central railway and Tokyo International Forum. Metro stop around the corner. Staff helpful. Room facilities adequate, including water-boiling device. Desk very small, chair uncomfortable.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel (Nov '11) Although the room was smallish it was well designed, clean and comfortable. Toiletries were provided. It is in a quiet location close to the Ginza Subway Line and Tokyo main station with plenty of nearby restaurants and eating places. Our dealings with the staff were minimal but they were polite […] and gave us a location map and information. We would certainly consider staying here again. Læs mere

We had stayed at the Hotel Monterey in Kyoto and liked it so much decided to stay at their hotel in Tokyo Ginza. The location was close to the Tokyo main train station. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and high end shopping. The staff were polite but English was lacking with no concierge service.

Comfortable, stylish, very well located, quite close to Tokyo Train Station and Ginza subway line, great breakfast and friendly staff make this good value hotel an excellent choice.

While the rooms were a little bit on the small side, they were very comfortable and had all the necessary facilities. The location was very convenient for sightseeing and catching trains. The staff very helpful and I would certainly stay there again.

Nice hotel just a block away from main street. nice maintained rooms, decent size.

NICE LITTLE HOTEL IN A NICE AREA .

Decent size rooms, comfortable and modern decoration, extremely clean, and attentive services. Great location above the Midosuji line Shinsabashi station and great shopping and eating places. Overall an excellent hotel.

Clean rooms and the hotel is in a great location. -The staff was very friendly and help will def. stay again.

The hotel is located near to several metro stations and the Ginza shopping area. There are also many eateries which serve relatively low-cost yet delicious food, not to mention (at least) 4 convenience stores. The staff are warm and polite, we really enjoyed our stay here!

Hotel was very well kept. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Also, the free ethernet cable internet was awesome. The only drawback was that the hotel did not have airport limosine pickup. Graet for the price. Nice smallish room for good amenities. Could use a coat of paint in the room but otherwise clean and comfortable. Good location and good value. Reccomended.

The Hotel is close to subway. Is very convenient to take a subway, I can easily go to shopping centre and famous tour attractions. Restaurants round the corner and a 24 hour eating place. Is safe even you need a bowl of noodle during late night. The room is spacious, and I love the toiletries.

The location of this hotel is great as you can travel to any where in Tokyo , easy.The subway is closeby you can also walk to Tokyo station which make going to airport, convenient.The staff is friendly and make my stay very pleasant and comfortable.

I just would like to express my disappointment of my stay in Hotel Monterey Ginza, Tokyo. This hotel does not correspond at all to the information given in your site. The rooms do not look as those from the photos in your site. They are not renovated, walls are dirty, furniture is very used and low quality... I booked a standard double room because […] it was written that the interior of the room is traditional Japanese - that was a lie. The room had absolutely standard laminated furniture, nothing traditional, just simple room that you may find everywhere in the world. I could say that this hotel corresponds to 3 stars maximum and it is unfair to show photos that are not corresponding to the reality. Location is very good but there is enough big choice of hotels in the area - so, I would not go back to this hotel. Læs mere

Fantastic location at Ginza with lots of restaurant and shops.Walking distance to Tesuki Fish Market for fresh and cheap sashimi

Had a lovely time here. The room was great, the location is fabulous and the staff were lovely and very helpful.

Our saty was very comfortable. The hotel has a great location. The rooms were not as small as we expecfed and were very comfortable, however the pillows were like bricks. I would recommend this hotel anytime.

We love Tokyo & we love the Ginza Monterey Perfect location, perfect price We had a superb stay for 7 nights in a twin room in Monterey Ginza, the location just cannot be beaten for Tokyo, we had previously stayed at the Hilton 2 years ago & were disapointed with the Shinjuku location & the Hilton was highly overpriced. Monterey Ginza has everything […] right next to it, a twin room in the new building worked well with 2 toddlers & we had a cot put in at no charge (& this fitted nicely between the two twin beds so we had some space for the toddlers to toddle). the rooms are a little small but in the instance of this hotel it is a bargain by Tokyo standards. Infact Ginza is such a great location you dont want to stay in your room anyway. We really really enjoyed our stay here. + there is a magical izakaya restaraunt directly opposite the hotel entrance to the right & down some stairs, superb service & really good value meals, they are sensational with kids also. Hotel Monterey Ginza was awesome! The staff was very nice, helpful and serving. Most spoke English. The location was great for the shopping, lots of yummy food, and 2 convenience stores across the street. The subway is one stop from the Tokyo station then 1 hour to the Narita airport. It is in walking distance to the famous Tsukiji Fish Market where […] you can eat sushi (my husband says it's the best he's ever ate) and shop in the outer market. We were able to walk through the inner market of wholesalers where we saw a huge tuna and other fish being prepared for sale. Læs mere

Very conveniently located near subways or within walking distance of many sights. Like all Japanese hotels, service is very efficient, discrete and polite. The buffet breakfast is quite good and not that expensive given the price of a single coffee in Tokyo
