Samuel Durfee House B&B - Newport

We stayed in the Doris Duke room, which is in the back of the house on the second floor. This is a plus since we did not hear any noise from the street. We also did not hear any noise from the neighboring room. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was larger than a typical B&B bathroom. We spent 3 nights with Mike & Heather. Everything was fantastic to the breakfast, advice on what to see, and of course the B&B. The house has a rich history which Mike shared with us. Great place to stay in Newport and only one block off the main tourist street.

As someone who knows Newport well, this place is right in the heart of things and easy walking to all the hot spots. That being said, it's also tucked away and relaxing. I loved reading on my private balcony! Owners were super nice and welcoming.

Heather and Michael are welcoming hosts. I mentioned before arriving that it was our anniversary and they upgraded our queen room to a king suite, complete with its own entrance! Great B&B. Really comfortable room with good furnishings and for a period property the bathrooms are fantastic. The hosts will tell you everything you need to know about the area and provide good breakfasts and afternoon coffee and cookies. Great Newport location. Excellent breakfasts. Plenty of parking. No complaints at all other than that our bathroom could have been a little bigger. Of course it was still much better than the original owner's.

We stayed here for while celebrating our 15th anniversary and had a great time. The room was everything we hoped it would be - beautiful, clean, comfortable, etc. Our hosts were fabulous - they made us a specially decorated mini cake and left it in our room on the night of our anniversary. The house is about a 10-15 minute walk from the main town area, […] but if you walk downhill 1 block to Thames street, there are shops and restaurants all along the way towards the center of town. This place was great. The owners were very professional, courteous, and cook a fantastic breakfast. Our room was just as advertised and it was nice to have a mini fridge in each room (good for keeping that champagne cool). Could not ask for a better location, we walked downtown as you are only a block off the main drag. Also having parking behind the […] house off the street proved very useful. I didn't think much of it at the time but the streets are crammed with parked cars at any hour so that would have been an unneeded stress. The only complaint if there is one is that the bathroom in our room was very small, but that goes with a 200yr old house I guess. I will stay here again when we come back to Newport. Læs mere

This is our 2nd visit to Samuel Durfee, and we had another great time. It's comfortable, relaxing, quaint, warm, etc. - everything you'd want from a B&B. The innkeepers, Michael & Heather, are extremely nice and helpful - and the breakfast is awesome. Its in a great location, and you are a very short walk from the main strip in Newport where all the […] shops and restaurant are. We really liked this B&B; we had a cozy room with a little balcony and bathroom. Everything clean and very sweetly decorated. Breakfast was home-made, just as the cookies served in the afternoon: delicious! The house is within walking distance of the centre.There is private parking space behind the B&B.
