Super hotel - værelse etc passer til de 2 stjerne, men beliggenheden og udsigten fra altanen er super. Kan du lide strand, surfing, solnedgange, afslappet livsstil er dette lige stedet

We got way more than we expected at this hotel. We chose it as an affordable option close to the beach and the shopping/dining in PB. As such, I wasn't expecting more than the very basic amenities but received excellent service (they held our bags all day, etc.), a great pool (with a deep end), good sheets, etc...Only drawback is that I'm not sure the […] room had A/C (which wouldn't have been a problem if we could have slept with the patio door open (with screen) but we were on ground floor near pool. I had to change to the second floor for a view of anything. I liked the room but was not happy that at the price of the room we had to pay daily for parking in their hotel lot. I think visitors that come to the beach should pay not customers. There were lots of stores & restaurants to walk to which is a big plus. Other than that it was good.

Disappointed in the room. There were no chairs or a table/desk in the room. Requested two chairs and a table and received white plastic patio furniture. We put them on the balcony and moved the metal table and two chairs on the patio into the room. The metal chairs were rusty and stained our clothes. Bed was a queen - not king as advertised, phone did […] not work when we arrived, wireless network was not available the first two days, elevator was out of service for three days and parking was $15/day. I appreciated the availability of Carlos (taxi driver) to transport me back and forth to the seminar located at Paradise Point for the past 6 days. I also appreciated the availability of having a cup of hot chocolate in the morning and evening located in the lobby. Although I was quite comfortable in my room, it would enhance the comfort of guests by […] having air conditioned rooms during warm days. The weather was great during the six days in San Diego. This was a poor choice from the minute we stepped into the lobby. We had called to see if an early check-in was available and they advised it was. When we arrived and told them we had booked through Hotels.com they advised us we were in an ocean view room on the 4th floor. We left to checkout our room and moments later the same subject who had just […] checked us and and told us our room was ready informed us he had made a mistake and we were now on a bottom level floor with a view of the parking lot. There were no bathroom towels available, there was used toilet paper in the toilet and hairs on the toilet bowl. We discovered the screen door leading out to the pool was broken, the knobs on the nightstand were covered in wax and there was a dead fly splattered on a white door which hadn't been cleaned up. My wife found stained pillows, sheets and dust all over the headboard. I was fortunate to locate the manager as he was walking my our room. He moved us to "his last room available" and what he termed ' a suite." It couldn't be farther from the truth. Although the toilet was cleaned, the drapes had a huge hole in them, the screen door was again broke, and was generally just dirty. Save yourself the heartache and stay somewhere else. Læs mere

The hotel is the perfect vacation for a beach get away. Ocean views from your bed, lots of great food nearby, places to rent bikes/surf boards, spas to get your nails done. Great place!

This place is very out dated and in need of maintenence. There's very little parking. If you're a surfer this place is for you. Don't expect a hair dryer or a coffee pot either.

I cannot believe how we were mistreated at this hotel. The power was out for one full day (someone crashed into the powerline). The manager lied and said it affected all the hotels on the shore. False. We could see other hotels had lights on! Anyways, we had no lights. No shower. No heat. No hotel keys to get in and out of the room! The hotel did nothing […] to make customers feel better or give an estimate of when the power would be back. (Arrived at 3pm) Finally, around 11, the hotel gave us a tiny flashlight. This was after we made the trip in the hail to go buy candles. Did they reimburse me for buying candles? No! No discount at all! One day of free parking! Which is fifteen dollars a day by the way to park in a shady alley with very limited space. I was ripped off. I paid a lot of money to stay here for just two days and for a day and a half, the hotel provided no services to me. Were they apologetic? No. They were rude. You can bet that I will tell everyone I know about the miserable treatment and disrespect I received here. We won't be going back to this hotel, ever. No will any of my friends who go to San Deigo. The weather was terrible and you could hear the wind so loudly in the room that it kept me awake all night. The walls let in plenty of noise from other guests, all night long! The bed didn't even look made when we arrived. It looked like someone had rolled around on top of it. No towels were put in the room after cleaning it. The rooms had rust inside. Læs mere

Where to begin. I saw the mixed reviews of this hotel, but decided to book it anyway because of location and because they accept pets. It was a mistake. I've stayed at two star hotels in Europe which were cleaner and nicer. Do not be misled, nothing a out this place is a boutique hotel. A modern leather table lamp and white down comforter with a white […] Cotten duvet are not enough to transform this very run down beach motel into a "boutique.". The property is also run down and without amenities. There is not even a jacuzzi by the pool. The pool itself looks like a throw back to the 70's which would be fine, but it looks like they havent done anything to it since, including clean it. The stairwell was dirty at all times with old food strewn about and the smell of urine. The room was dingy, grimey, smelly and the bathroom was filled with black mold. The sheets were nice cotten but all our sheets were stained with stains in all colors of the rainbow. It was also tiny. Don't be misled by the pictures. We booked a double ocean front room for a fairly hefty rate. Our room did not even have room for a chair. Two double beds and there was about six inches between one bed and the wall and about 4 inches between the second bed and the sliding glass door to the balcony. The carpeting was so soiled, even my children were afraid to walk barefoot. The room does have a small fridge and a large flat screen tv with cable, but but no safe and no coffee maker. You can get coffee in the hotel office/ lobby. That about all you get in the lobby because don't expect any service. This was the worst aspect of the stay. When we first checked in, no offer of help and the desk person didn't even crack a smile. Also, even though we booked an ocean front, we were given a partial ocean view. He did immediately changed us to a full ocean view room when we asked. Beware all of the ocean view rooms are either over a large restaurant or over a taco stand below. Definitely cannot beat the location of this hotel! Nothing super fancy about the hotel, but with a location right on the beach, you can't ask for much more! The room was clean, nice walk-in shower, and the balcony with the ocean view was awesome! I booked a room with a King, and they accidentally gave me one with two fulls, but to make up for it gave […] us our parking permit for free, which is normally $15. This hotel really is in a great place, proximity to the beach is wonderful. I could tell they have upgraded the rooms with super comfortable beds and flat screen televisions. The exterior of the hotel is old and run down. The elevator and stairwells were poorly lit and a little scary at night.

My husband and I stayed here and the view from our room is amazing (top floor). I love that it's right on the beach and there is no street to cross to get to the ocean. This might be a small detail but the beds were amazing. Lots of hotels have those stiff blankets but these pure white blankets and sheets were so soft and fluffy. Bad thing is we didn't […] want to leave the bed. The pool was heated and being April when we stayed, that was needed because the ocean was quite cold. Only thing that we didn't love was the area. Being on Pacific Beach, it had a college feel and us living in Madison wi, the last thing I wanted to be around were college kids. Friends told us that we'd be more comfortable on Ocean Beach. We're more of dive bar kind of people. All in all, great place, great view and more most people, great neighborhood but next time I think we'll look at another area. San Diego is beautiful!!!! This hotel is right on Pacific Beach and in walking distance to lots of places. The staff was very nice and I will stay here next time I am in San Diego.

Our room had a great view of the Ocean and it was nice that the hotel was right by the broadwalk. Conveniently located to shops, resturants and grocery store. Will stay there again.

Other than the great location, the stay left much to be desired. The “King” sized bed was actually 2 twins pushed together. Not a huge deal except my side was broken. My wife’s side was about 6 inches higher than mine. When discussing the bed problem upon checkout, was told that management was aware of the issue, but did not think it was a big deal. […] It was to me. There were 2 TVs in our room, one directly in front of the other. I’m guessing the one behind was broken. Probably should take it out of the room. Would have really enjoyed spending time in a Jacuzzi…but the hotel did not have one. Læs mere

The bathroom in our room flooded from the upstairs bathroom. We went to the front desk only to find out that someone that had had that room before us complained and got moved right before we were moved in there. We had to use the restroom before we left the hotel and they told us to go to the beach restroom down the street. They would not let us use […] the employee restroom. We were very unhappy with the service and will not be back there ever again. Læs mere

Great location and nice beach. Saw a duck in the pool do decided not to swim. View of ocean was great except the roof top of the restaurant right below our balcony but definitely cannot beat the price for an ocean view room in San Diego. Bed was comfortable and room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Parking fee kind of sucks but for the price […] you are paying, who really cares? There is a walk along the beach right outside the hotel which is great!!! Spent more time in La Jolla though at the tide pools but would stay here again!!! Læs mere

This hotel is basically ON THE BEACH. It is the best location, and has the best view. The attached pool has an amazing ocean view, and the restaurant World Famous, has unbelievable breakfast. The staff is super friendly. I will be going back!

We came here on our honeymoon and it was awesome. The ocean view was great, we actually watched dalphins jumping out of the water from our balcony. Even the house keeper was awesome and so friendly and helpful. Great place to stay.

Absolutely loved this hotel !! There is a door that connects to the beach and is near everything in San Diego ! The only down fall was no sacuzi ... But nothing to complain about!! Loved loved the hotel !! I can't wait to go back !

Room was great,kinda of small but in a great location,would stay there again

Once a small snafu where they couldn't find our reservation was resolved our stay was wonderful. We got an "ocean view king" room, and it was totally worth the upgrade price (which wasn't much). The view is spectacular, and our room was clean and modern, not at all dated. Our room was on the top (4th) floor. We were a little hesitant to book this hotel […] because of some of the bad reviews it had gotten, but a friend had stayed there and said good things about it, and we are so glad we stayed there. There was no damp, musty smell in the room, and it was immaculate and spacious. There are floor to ceiling glass balcony doors, and if you want to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean then this is the place for you. We also saw inside a standard two twin room (during the reservation snafu), and it was definitely smaller, but still had a balcony and view of the ocean. We had a coffeemaker in our room, as well as a fridge and a microwave/sink in the "kitchen" area, and there is also coffee available in the lobby (machine with regular/cappuccino/hot chocolate, etc). We booked the room for the location, not expecting to fall in love with the hotel, but we did, and we can't wait to go back! Læs mere

Our stay was great! When we checked in the manager moved our room so we were up higher and had a direct ocean view. It was beautiful! The room was spacious, bathroom was nice (tiled floors and walls), mini-fridge, free wi-fi, king size bed (very comfy). The location was great. We walked everywhere. Would definitely recommend!

The Surfer Beach hotel is old, but the room was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The location is on the boardwalk, they have many ocean view rooms. The area is awesome, walk to restaraunts, shopping, liquor, bars, etc....The pool is barely heated. I would go back, really good value.

Room was okay, but dated. Really, really, really needs some insulation between floors. We could hear everything going on upstairs.

Two night stay with one day of rain. We ate breakfast both mornings at the World Famous, the restaurant connected to the hotel -- fabulous but huge portions (at least for breakfast). The tile work in the entry and bathroom seemed a bit shotty but looked good. Windows and patio doors seem very new. We could here the guests above us enter and exit their […] room as well as conversation during the night. Bed was very comfortable despite some the reviews I read before booking hotel. Towels could have been updated and a bit more plush . . thin and old. I think paying $15 for parking per night is rediculous, just give guests the parking pass so you will know the car is supposed to be in the parking lot. Loved the complimentary coffee and hot chocolate in lobby. We chose not use the pool during the day of rain so no comment. I am nit-picky but would return to this hotel. Læs mere

they gave us a dirty room to start off second room the water was running so fast in the bath tub it would fill up in 5 minutes if the drain was in. third room was a charm besides the screen door fell off first time we tryed to open it .the bed was very comfortable. nice linins and we could see the ocean from front and back windows of the room. 314. […] no table or chairs in room just couch. no internet they say there is but I had asked people that had been there 5 dys and they said no internet the whole time.. you have to pay 15.00 a day to park also. I understand that we stayed here for the location (which is why we paid the high price), but the rest of the place is the pits! The room stunk like sweaty, dirty feet and they need to replace the carpets. They told us the room was recently remodled? when? There was no proper ventilation of the room unless we left the door open over night? Who wants […] to do that when your on the first floor and the gate is unlocked? The room had a floor fan, which was pretty dirty. The shower was tiny, and the curtain was filthy. Our top sheet had blood on it, gross. Our pillows were flat as if they hadnt been replaced in about 10 years. Top it off, seaguls were swimming in the pool. If you know anything about birds in the pool its pretty bad, they poop in the pool and it cloggs the filtering system, which is gross. In the morning when we did open our door the management decided to have a full blown conversation about other employees right outside our door! How tacky!! Pretty dissapointed in this hotel considering its in an absolutely perfect location on the beach. Next time, I'll have to not think about location and think about cleanliness. Læs mere

It was a relief to find a hotel next to all the yummy nearby restaurants so we didn't have to drive any where. The sunrise and sunset from our room was amazing, the sunset at nearby lahaina isn't bad either. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Reserved a standard king room. They joint two single beds to make a king size bed.it had crevice in the middle. They did not have crib to give. It's a worn down place.most of the guests had some or the other problem.there is no standard king size room with an ocean view. The pool was not heated. We booked Ocen-front view well in advance, when we arrived they offered us partial ocean view only and they said all other rooms were filled, we had no other option but to live there. Carpet was too old, not very clean. I would only recommmend this hotel as it is economic and ocean front but do not expect much.

Overall, the Surfer Hotel does have a great location on the sand in the heart of the Pacific and Mission Beach neighborhoods. A warning if you are booming the last regular room is that room 201 is next to the Maids HQ and laundry room. Since I boomed a 2 night, weekend stay we had hoped we would have a good chance to sleep in. No chance! The constant […] rumble of the industrial sized washers and dryers plus the talking of the maids made sleeping in impossible. A great hotel location, but we got the worst room in the place...be careful!! Læs mere
