Highly recommend this as a quality 4-5 star hotel

Cannot begin to say how spetacular the view is at this hotel. Didn't read the other reviews prior to booking and disagree with some, but many are out of date. Major improvements have been made to rooms (ongoing) creating modern luxurious space. Service was excellent from check in to dining, food is good but possibly a little overpriced. Wonderful view of Lake Geneva from the balcony and easy lake access. The Spa looked very good as well but I didn't get to enjoy. Rooms were a little dated but still clean and functional.

the hotel rooms' decor, for 4 stars, was quite dated, particularly the bathroom. i also felt there needed to be more staff at the front desk to accommodate guest checkin and requests in the afternoon. i also felt it was a bit far from the convention center, however, the free bus was quite convenient.

The Grand Hotel Excelsior Du Lac has a funny smell and the restaurant closes at 9pm which is way too early for 4 start hotel other wise it was very nice albeit a bit shabby

the Grand Hotel Excelsior is is located on the shore of the lake. We had such a pleasure sitting on the porch lokking on the lake. it is so romantic that we decided to dine on the balcny. Althought the building is so old the management mad all the effort to bring the hotel to high standarts by trying to give the guest free TV movies free internet and […] new other renovations. A once grand, but very tired hotel. Not sure if 4 star is a correct rating. Two light bulbs burned out, no hot water for morning shower, and difficulty with internet connection. The attitude of the staff was not apologetic, but rather "you picky Americans, what... you want hot water and lights?" Great view from balcony however.

We paid for a superior room, it wasn't! Our friends room was as bad as ours but they paid for a standard room. The only difference was that we didn't have water running through the roof onto the bathroom floor and they did! What a job we had trying to get their room changed, after a lot of effort this was done but no apology was made. The service was […] poor. I've never been in a 4* hotel where you can't get even get a coffee outside of restaurant hours. The bar didn't open until 7 p.m. and then shut at 10 p.m., so if you are going out or returning from dinner you can't get a drink. The attitude of the staff when asked for a drink or coffee outside these hours was useless and nothing was forthcoming. The view is to die for, I will return to Montreux but not to any hotels in this group (of which there are four). The rooms were tired but clean, apart from ancient mould stains in the shower tile grout. Walls were grubby and tiles and woodwork chipped or scratched. This could be a lovely hotel but it needs updating badly and the staff need personality transplants as their attitude towards customers who ultimately pay their wages was in the vast majority of cases very poor Læs mere

Ecellent freindly hotel with a magnificent view of lake Geneva

a superb view from our room is worth accepting a series of negatives ( old bathroom mainly) nice swimming pool and lovely people at reception and in the biotonic aisle

All rooms in this hotel face Lake Geneva and include a balcony/patio. This is a nice hotel and short walking distances to the castle and downtown Montreux. I didn't eat at the hotel as it seemed pricy but most of the food in Montreux and Switzerland in general is on the expensive side. Das angebotene Zimmer wies einen penetranten ex-Geruch auf. Nach einer Zimmerbegehung seitens des Personals,wurde und kein Wechsel angeboten,obwohl nur ein kleiner Teil des Hotels belegt war. Das Schwimmbad ist schlecht unterhalten und kalt. In der Halle befindet sich eine offene Raucherbar, so dass es penetrant nach Zigarettenrauch stinkt. Insgesamt […] macht das Hotel den Eindruck bessere Tage erlebt zu haben. Fazit: Teures Hotel, in schlechtem Unterhaltungszustand, wenig motiviertes Personal! Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr schön, direkt am See mit prächtiger Aussicht. Das Zimmer war ok, sauber und nett eingerichtet. Man merkt der Einrichtung aber die Jahre schon an. Gar nicht gefallen hat uns das Badezimmer, obwohl sehr geräumig, war es ein Flickwerk aus den 60er Jahren. Schade. Bemerkenswer war jedoch das Frühstücksbuffet. Sehr reichhaltig […] und ausgewogen. Das Hotel benötigt dringendst ein komplettes Face-Lfiting. Aus heutiger Sicht stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältins keinesfalls - enttäuschend, nicht zu empfehlen!

eine sehr schönes alterwürdiges Hotel mit viel Charme und super Sicht. Da das Hotel nicht ausgebucht war, bekamen wir Zimmer auf dem 4. Stock (sehr empfehlenswert). Ich würde wieder hingehen. negative Punkte: Das Badezimmer (Spitalgroove) und nicht das continental breakfast aufs zimmer bestellen (preis leistung schlecht) > besser ans buffet gehen. nichts […] für modern style liebhaber. The Grand Hotel Excelsior du Lac is charming hotel with confortable rooms, some of wich have a beautiful view of the lake in Montreux. Rooms are spacious and clean. The atmosfere of the hotel brings you back to the 1950's. The rooms facing the lake have balconies and are by far the best option, even being much more expensive. Avoid the rooms in the […] back of the hotel as they face a fairly busy railway and tend to be noisy at night. The hotel is located a bit far from the main station and the city center, but close enough for a walk if you do not have luggage. Public transportation is available very close to the hotel. As many other hotels in Switzerland this one is overpriced and has a minimum staff at work. Do not get surprised if you find the reception empty. Læs mere

super accueil magnifique buffet de petit déjeuner et égalalement bon restaurant. Cet hotel est au bord du quai des fleurs et directement au bord du lac et a 15 minutes à pieds du centre ville. Vraiment à recommander en plus les lits sont top et les matelas de très haute qualité pour un excellent maintient du dos.

Hotel und Zimmer sind ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen, es ist aber ein sehr schönes Gebäude. Wer den alten Stil mag, kommt hier auf seine Kosten. Unser Zimmer hatte sehr viel Charme und die Aussicht ist schlicht fantastisch. Wir werden auf jeden Fall zurückkehren.

Sehr schöne Lage,sehr Ruhig und in 5 Minuten zu Fuss ist man im Zentrum von Montreux. Das Frühstücksbuffet könnte etwas Reichhaltiger sein.

Otimo custo x beneficio... Vista sensacional. Todos os quartos são de frente para o lago Leman.

Sehr schöne grosszügige Zimmer. Sehr gute Ausstattung, Super Lage direkt am See, zusätzlich Indoor-Swimmingpool.
