Fosshotel Baron - Reykjavik

Fint hotel, med en super beliggenhed og en god morgenmadsbuffet. Inventaret er lidt slidt, men vi var ikke kommet for at side på hotellet så det betød ikke så meget.

Hotelet er fint rent, Morgenbuffeten er superb. Personelet meget hjælpsomt. Der er fri internet i lobby og restaurent. Værelserne (Historical rooms) er små og med ovenlysvinduer, så man skal have stige for at se by/hav.

God hotel ligger centralt for mange ting der skal opleves i Reykjavik. Dejlig at der blev tilbudt morgenmad selv om man skulle med flyveren hjem tidlig søndag morgen. Også rart med internet til rådighed. Mange gode spise huse i gå afstand fra hotellet.

Hotellet ligger smukt i anden række til vandet. Der er gratis morgenmad med og den er ok. Hotellets personale er hjælpsomt og smilende. De anbefaler pro-car bil leje firma - det kan vi slet ikke anbefale, de har ikke styr på det. The Fosshotel Baron turned out to be a superb choice. The location is great, only a short walk from the main bars and attractions so you are away from any late night noise. Nice hotel. Great location, in centre of town but at edge so quiet. Easy to drive to and from if you hire a car and petrol station opposite as well as mini super market and restaurant. Very clean and tidy hotel with staff very friendly and helpful. we had an excellent view of the mountains from our room. It is also ideally suited for exploring the town (5-10 mins walk into the heart of the city) TOP PLACE!

The room was kind of small, but cozy for one person. VERY close to the downtown shops and sight seeing. The staff at this hotel are very pleasant. You will have to get use to the sulfur smell from the hot water. Its not harmful, just use cold water for tea and coffee. Each room has a kettle for hot water. There is a store similar to 7/11 (coincidentally […] the name of the store is 10/11) about 1-2 minutes walking away from the hotel for snacks and drinks. Although very busy, reception was consistently helpful. We never dreamed the breakfast buffet would be so generous and varied. Now I dream about it frequently.We liked how the hot water was unconditioned and full of sulphur. Comfortable beds. Fosshotel Baron is a great welcome to Reykjavik.

Convenient location - near to everything in town but far enough away to be quiet. Breakfast was good and a real plus as eating out can be expensive. The breakfast room can get busy but is replenished regularily. The kids loved making their own waffles. The staff were helpful and booked an excursion for us. We had booked a double and a room for 3 via […] expedia but they had not commincated this to the hotel so we were given 2 doubles which was not enough for the 5 of us. When we spoke to reception they were very helpful and found a family room even though they were extremely busy and apologied. The new room was spacious and even had a small kitchen area. Great location with the seafront 1 road down and the main shopping street of Laugavegur 2 roads up. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Breakfast choices were very good and plentiful. The high quality and friendliness of the staff just about compensates for the poor quality of the hotel rooms. I was extremely dissatisfied with the standard single room that I was given because a) the window blinds were not working (during 24hr sunshine filled summer), b) the room was next to a room with washing machines so I could hear them working […] during the day and c) it was the smallest hotel room I had ever been to. Thankfully, the staff was very understanding and offered me alternative rooms which I could view before making a decision which one to switch to. I ended up upgrading to a studio apartment for a reduced upgrade rate which was very much appreciated. I recommended the studio apartments which are much larger in size and have a nice kitchen and a dining table. I was disappointed with the quality of cleaning in the rooms. When I came back to the room after it was cleaned, I could still see the crumbs on the dining table I left the day before and the floor was definitely not sweeped/vacuumed as there was still dust every day. I was scared of using some of the items in the kitchen e.g. the toaster looked like it was 50 years old and was so dirty inside that there is no way I would put any food inside. I had borrowed an iron which was not in working order. It kept leaking all the time and it ruined one of my favourite tops by leaving black marks which I am really upset about. Hotel is well situated and affordable. The breakfast room is large and comfortable and the breakfast selection is extensive and of high quality. We had a large room with a queen bed, sitting area and kitchenette. I would stay again if ever back in Reykjavik.

The staff were very helpful in giving suggestions on places to eat and assisting with booking transport. We stayed in the antique room intentionally. The downside was the windows are skylights with poor light blocking curtains which is not a great combination during the 24 hours of sunlight. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, the included breakfast had […] great croissants and lasted until 10am and as mentioned the staff met our needs. Free wifi in the lobby, but not free in the rooms. I would describe the hotel as "basic". The rooms were functional, but that's about it. Breakfast was disappointing to say the least. If you like cereal and toast you are sorted. If you're after a cooked breakfast then look elsewhere. I think one of the things that annoyed me the most was having to pay for Internet acces. Really? This is the 21st century... […] get with it! The hotel serves as an excellent base for your stay in Iceland, but certainly no more. An above average hotel near city centre with good views of the sea and mountains. The reception staff were very helpful and always had a smile on their faces especially at 3 o'clock in the morning ( the time we got back after watching for the Northern Lights)

The location is nice. You can walk to the downtown. A 24 hour supermarket is behind the hotel. Breakfast is good. The room TV has only two channels and not in English. Very disappointed.

My sister, boyfriend and I stayed in a triple. We had a small single room and a bigger room with a couch that flipped out to a bed. It was really comfortable, breakfast was included and was good, and the location was great. The people working the front desk were very helpful and nice. I would definitely stay here again.

we stayed at the Foss Baron for 3 nights four days. breakfast was good and plenty of it.Close to the main shopping street andthe main church,hotel staff very helpfull.Would recommend to others. The only critisim was not getting a double bed after requesting one but they made up for it by giving us a studio apartment.

The Fosshotel Baron is a good base for exploring Reykjavik providing you wish to be slightly away from the central district (which can get noisy at weekends). It is a slow 10-15 minute amble into the central district, so still convenient in that sense. The staff were ever so helpful with any query we had and spoke excellent English (just as well seeing […] as none of us spoke Icelandic). The breakfast provided by the hotel was excellent - continental style and as much or little as you wanted. Certainly set us up for the day ahead. The view over the sea is great and it was a joy to get up in the morning to see the sun, sea and mountains from our bedroom. Iv just returned from a week in Reykjavic where i stayed at the Fosshotel Baron. I did alot of reserch before i chose this hotel and am glad i did as many of the ones i was going to book,for example,The Hilton,The Grand etc,were not anywhere near as central as they claim. This hotel however is. What people need to know before they go is that Reykjavic […] city centre is quite small,with one long main road where most of the shops and restaraunts are. This hotel is aprox 2 mins walk away from that road. The hotel itself is comfortable,the rooms are clean,basic in that you dont get provided with little bottles of shampoo and shower gel,but we always had clean towels and the room was tended to every day. There was no noise at night,and we were able to keep our window open without causing disturbance to our sleep. The reception desk was very helpful,and the staff spoke very good English. The breakfast buffet was good,no hot food apart from toast or pancakes,but i would recommend you eat it as food is VERY expensive in Iceland. I would stay there again. Læs mere

Fosshotel Baron is a pleasant hotel in an excellent location in Reykjavik. The rooms are quite small (even by European standards), but the location, buffet breakfast (included), friendly staff, and general feel make it a terrific choice anyway.

Easy to get to, the airport bus will take you there, and any and all tour operators will pick you up at the door. The main shops and downtown sights are within easy walking distance. love the hotel location - close to the main drag but far enough away from the madding crowd. we got a room facing the marina and had incredible view of the flaming sunset. breakfast was good, room was clean, price was great. no complaints.

We found the hotel to be within walking distance of the harbor and downtown area. The staff was friendly and courteous but not particularly concerned whether we could find free parking in the limited capacity hotel lot. The room was clean but very small and over-filled with bulky faux french provincial furniture. Although the hotel is a bit rundown it was very comfortable and in a convenient location.
