The Royal Plaza was a beautiful hotel in a great location, and it was very clean. However, the concierge/front desk were not helpful AT ALL. We were new to the city, so we wanted advice on a nice, local place to dine and where to go the next day for a day-tour. The restaurants they recommended were tourist traps, and the food did NOT taste good. But […] the worst part was when they told us to go to the train station to take a day trip to Gruyere and visit the cheese and chocolate factories. They told us that we did not need reservations and we can just go to the train station and buy a train ticket. We planned our whole day around this, and when we got to the station, they told us we needed a reservation and that our hotel should have known that. It ruined our entire day! Luckily we had a car and were able to visit Gruyere, but if we didn't have a car, which most visitors wouldn't, then we would have been stranded! Læs mere

Situated in the best location for the Jazz festival - at the end of all the busy stalls on lack Geneva. So, it was a bit quiter than the rest of the "strip". The hotel had all the conveniences that you needed - room service, mini bar, room darkening blinds were amazing (first time seeing something like that). Staff were friendly. You will be disappointed if expecting 5 starts hotel, but overall is good for a 3 max 4 starts.

Everyone was very pleasant!!! Happy with the service and everything.

They claim that this is a five star hotel. I have stayed in much better. The area is great. Vevey is next to Montreux and the sites to see are wonderful. Not a real fan of the hotels in this area. Would like to see some others step up.

The location of the hotel is excellent, as everything is within walking distance and there is also a bus stop right outside the hotel so one can use that also as the passes are included in the resort tax that one has to pay at the hotel. I do not think the rooms justify the 5 start rating as they are quite small and cramped but the additional amenities […] like complimentary internet and pay movies make up for that. Overall it was a very good and comfortable stay. Parking is expensive but I guess on swiss standards that is not too bad either. A word of caution; do not park your car under the big tree in front of the hotel. I think teh birds had serious diarrohea that day as our car was a complete mess in the morning. Læs mere

Beautiful views. Rooms very small. Our room was on a floor not accessible by elevator and had to take luggage to and from room ourselves. Nice folks at front desk but understaffed; the folks at the front desk appear to do everything including taking care of storing luggage etc.. We spent five nights at the Royal Plaza, Montreux in September 2010. The hotel is in a great location, right on the lake front with an easy walk into town beside the lake, or there's a bus stop just outside the front of the hotel if you don't want to walk. The hotel gives you a Riviera Card when you check in and this gives you free bus transport as […] well as other good offers. My parents were given a 'lucky upgrade' to a large room on the 6th floor. We had a room half the size on the 3rd floor. Comparing the two rooms, we had more modern plumbing and it was easy watching the TV from the bed. In their room they had twin sinks in the bathroom plus a bidet, but older plumbing. Although there was room they had no easy chairs and the TV was too far from the bed to watch it in bed. It worked well for them as they spent a lot of time on the large balcony, and as my partner has a problem with heights the 3rd floor balcony was high enough for him! We will go back to Montreux and stay at the Royal Plaza again. Læs mere

Well-located, nice lake view. iPad users beware, the "free Internet access" is wired only. Wireless is expensive and not reliable.

It was a great three star hotel, It woudl have been a dissappionting four star hotel. We had difficulty finding a suitable room that was quiet and in the end gave up. The hotel management did try to work with us as we were part of a large group. Everythign in Montreux is expensive and so was this hotel. Wonderful hotel, staff great in all departments. For a 5 star though everything is tiny...room, pool, gym. However, this hotel is close to the promenade during the festival which comes to life at dark. I half expected to see Snookie or Bill from True Blood. Aside from the small problems at check in, our biggest complaint was the absence of wifi - we could step outside of the hotel and occasionally make a free wifi connection in the park next to the hotel, but there was none available in the hotel. This is the first time I can recall being in a hotel in a city of any sort with no connection at all - some […] hotels require payment, others don't, some have wifi only in their lobby, others throughout the hotel, but it has been some years since I have been in a large hotel with NO wifi. the hotel was old but well maintained , close to the lake and the city center ,the only problem we faced was that there was maintenance and it was a bit noisy at times

The hotel is beautiful, situated right on Lake Geneva. The Sinatra Bar is right on the boardwalk overlooking the lake as is the main restaurant. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The hotel was undergoing some renovation which should have been more fully explained at check-in. However, this […] was only a minor inconvenience and did not detract from our overall view of the hotel. We ate in the hotel's main dining room and sat on the outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. The meal was quite good. We had a continental breakfast each morning on an outdoor balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent cafe o lait and espresso, pastries and bread with preserves and fresh juice. The first room they gave us, was suppose to be lakeview deluxe, it was more street view with a side view of the lake. I requested a specific room I saw was vacant and they did move us. The room itself was nice. However the room service and the concirege service left a lot to be desired. Wake up calls were not given at all, the towels were not refreshed […] on 2 days and the room did not bring our luggage down as directed and the tour bus had to make a return trip to the hotel. Skeptical at first because of the price - we found this hotel worth every penny! Within walking distance from the train but local transportation also available,.. directly on the lake.. the most comfortable beds, beautiful room, nice view even though we weren't facing the lake... the list goes on. A wonderful place to stay.

Montreax is stunning and so is this hotel. The staff are very helpful especially the concierge who helped find me a dentist when a problem arose. Breakfast was very good if a little expensive.

Overall impression is favorable though the check in process soured us a bit. Despite our being the only two people at the counter, it took a while for us to even be acknowledged by those behind the counter who spent their time looking down or staring into space while talking on the phone. I paid extra to have a lakeview and was given a view of a park and trees. When i complained about situation, I was told by the front desk staff to ask the next morning because It was late. When I asked the next day about possibly being moved to another room, I was told it was not possible eventhough the hotel was basically empty. That I was in the highest […] floor possible for the categuory that I had booked. My issue was not the floor but the location of my room not facing the actual lake. In addition, I paid 14 euros to have what can be at best considered a continental breakfast. (croissants,juice and coffee). The best feature of the hotel was its location right on the pedestrian boulevard along the lake. If you want a five star experience book the Fairmont Montreaux Palace not the plaza. Læs mere

Sehr schöne Ungebung, gute Atmosphäre und gute Lage in Montreux

Ich hatte das Hotel während des Jazzfestivals Montreux gebucht, da es nahe beim Festivalgelände liegt. Die Übernachtung war allerdings der reinste Horror!! - Sowas Schlimmes habe ich noch nie erlebt. Wir hatten bis 04.00 Uhr den allergrösten Lärm durch ein Freiluftkonzerte. Auch mit geschlossenen Fenstern und Ohrstöpseln konnten wir nicht schlafen, […] da der Lärm und die Vibrationen der Bässe das ganze Zimmer erfüllen! - Wäre ich darüber informiert worden, hätte ich niemals dieses Hotel für so viel Geld gebucht!! - Von den Angstellten fragte niemand nach, wie der Aufenthalt war! Montreux Jazz Festivalを観るために宿泊しました。 イベント会場の1つにもなっておりロケーションとしてはバッチリです。 が、部屋の場所によっては終夜開かれるFestivalの音が気になる事があるかもしれません。 また駅から徒歩約10分ですが、途中急な坂道があるため、重いキャリー(or スーツケース)を引いていくのはつらいかもしれません。行きは駅前からタクシーを利用すればよいのですが、帰りはホテルの車寄せにタクシーは常駐しておらず呼ばなければなりませんので、そこは不便と思いました。

Taso suomalaisen perushotellin tasoa, hinta silti viisinkertainen. Sen lisäksi törkyhintaan ei kuulunut aamiaista, saunaa eikä autopaikkaa. Uskomattominta oli, että ikkuna kadulle oli myyty vuoristonäkymänä.

Perfekte Lage, besonders wärend des Jazzfestivals. Etwas abgewohnt, dadurch nicht ideales Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis.

Il y a surement un meilleur rapport qualite service a Montreux.

Nous avions réservé et pré-payé une chambre avec vue sur le lac. L'hôtel devait être sur-booké et la réception a tenté de nous donner une chambre avec vue sur le parc. Nous avons du négocier pour obtenir ce pourquoi nous avions payé. La vue était magnifique mais les chambres sont usées et le service est approximatif. Définitivement pas à la hauteur […] ! Læs mere

Très bel hôtel, chambre spacieuse confortable. La salle de bain mériterait d'être rénovée. Impossible de dormir plus tard que 0730, beaucoup de bruit dans les couloirs.

When we had arrived this hotel, they require us to credit card for guarantee(What guarantee?? TouristTax, Resort Tax, Tax Tax Tax, minibar, etc....). But we don't have credit card. So we have to give them prepayment 300 CHFS!!! Even though we already pay every cost but we feel disgard that they consider us as a beggar. They didn't explain us any information […] of hotel.. restaurant, swimming pool, cafe.... They just give us room key and very unkindness. Even though we have to find ourself elevateor. We got back guarantee 259 after automatically payment Tax, Tax, Tax. Another Swiss hotel they didn't require Tax and guarantee. This is the first time we experience unreasonable regulation of hotel. Som en del av vår bröllopsresa skulle vi övernatta i Montreaux. Vi skulle resa vidare dagen efter men ville ändå lyxa till det genom att ta in på ett 5-stjärnigt hotell. När vi anländer får vi reda på att det inte ingår frukost i priset. Jag finner det mycket märkligt att en sån enkel sak som frukost inte ingår. Sedan hade vi blivit lovade ett rum med […] sjö/bergsutsikt. Vi fick ett rum med utsikt mot parkeringsplatsen! Inte riktigt vad jag hade förväntat mig. Vi hade veckan innan bott på ett 4-stjärnigt hotell som höll mycket högre standard och personalen var betydligt mer service-minded. Badrummet var minimalt och rummet stelt och inte alls särskilt fint inrett. Besvikelsen var stor. Det enda positiva var att sängarna var mycket bekväma, men så var det också allt. För det priset kan jag inte rekommendera Royal Plaza i Montreaux! Læs mere

Wij hadden de deluxe kamer met uitzicht over het meer van Geneve. Een groot balkon, met prachtig uitzicht en waar je 's avonds heerlijk kon dineren met datzelfde uitzicht op het meer en Montreux . Malgré une façade peu engageante, hôtel superbe et superbement placé. Les chambres avec vue sur le lac sont extraordinaires. L'accueil pourrait être amélioré : pas de prise en charge de la voiture, pas d'aide pour les bagages : Seuls détails négatifs. Séjour très agréable.

L'hôtel est très bien situé, les vues côté lac sont splendides ! Belles prestations dans l'ensemble : chambres confortables, bar et restaurant très agréables ... mais l'espace spa / piscine est très petit, les douches méritent une rénovation et il n'y a pas d'endroit pour profiter du soleil. Remarque sur la chambre - standard avec vue lac : la chambre […] était très petite, mais la vue est belle. Avant de réserver, vérifier les concerts dans la salle à côté : nous avons eu droit au festival techno Sundance 2010 : impossible de dormir côté lac, même avec des boules quies ! Nous avons changé de chambre après minuit, pour une chambre sans vue (donnant sur la grand rue !) mais au moins nous n'entendions plus le bruit assourdissant des basses. La chambre était plus grande, et au final plus agréable que la première ! Mieux vaut demander un étage en hauteur, car côté rue le week end il y a du passage. Eigenartige, kühle Atmosphäre. Freundlichkeit wirkt unpersönlich und aufgesetzt. Man fühlt sich nicht wirklich willkommen. Völlig verschmutzter Stuhl im Zimmer - eine Frechheit! Alle Zusatzleistungen viel zu teuer. Zimmer eher klein. Gute Betten. Strassenlärm ist laut.

Struttura non nuovissima con vista splendida sul lago. Ci siamo fatti cambiare la stanza perche' troppo vicina ai concerti nel parco, quella nuova era eccellente, il servizio in camera eccellente, c'e' un po' troppo da attendere in portineria. Location fantastica per chi va al festival perche' e' a 100 metri, ho usufruito della piscina di un hotel collegato. […] consiglierei senz'altro la permanenza al Plaza anche se il prezzo e' elevato Læs mere
