Belmont Hotel - Leicester

excellent hotel. clean comfortable. great location and great meals. bit noisy at night along corridors, creaky.

I stayed by myself at the Belmont Hotel in Leicester on the 30th of January and was given a very spacious room (which I found even had a separate room with 2 child bunk beds) for a good price. The room was generally clean and well kept, although there was considerable dust in the bathroom, double glazing on 1 of 3 windows only and the constant noise […] of some generator nearby. The noise was probably the biggest concern for me though the earplugs I brought with me helped until it intensified around 5am in the morning and made sleeping completely impossible. The contents were very satisfactory with tea and coffee making facilities and some biscuits provided free of charge. Breakfast was included in the room price which allowed me to access a muesli and bread/pastry buffet in addition to ordering warm meals such as a Full English. The quality of the buffet was very good though the Bacon on the English was rather salty and the Hash Browns tiny and rather tough to eat. Juices were fresh and service was excellent however. Locationwise the Hotel was extremely easy to find and get to from the station even at night and is within 10 minutes walking distance to the university. It has a large car park and a bar and restaurant. I would recommend the hotel to others however would advise informing yourself in advance about the location of your room and whether you might hear the generator from there. Læs mere

very close to the station. Old building but comfortable. The problem is getting breakfast on Sunday Morning - I needed to catch a train and leave hotel by 8.15, I chose this hotel as it did a full english breakfast from 8am. In the event the hot food did not arrive until 8.15 and there were still no eggs when I left at 8.24. Masses of staff around, […] all very nice, but no hot food! Læs mere

The room was lovely, the bed was clean and comfortable. Yet, dusty! The drawers were broken so couldn't unpack, the free wi-fi is very restricted. Lots of noise as the windows are not double glazd and the room looked out onto the front of the hotel which is a busy street. We were not informed as to what time, or where b/fast was served, and therefore […] didnt get it even though we had paid for it. On arriving in the room there were dirtied dinner and breakfast trays along the walls opposite our door. They were still there when we checked out. We had a 1 night stay.Near to the train station, handy for the centre of Leicester. Our executive double room was of a very good standard, good breakfast. Would I stay here again? Yes.

The hotel was nice overall, however when it came to breakfast we did arrive at 0940, which I feel was in plenty of time, however we had to wait to be seated so by the time we actually sat down, it was 10:00. Of course breakfast was then stopped. This was disappointing as the chef would no longer send out any hot food, I would understand if had arrived […] at 10:00 but I didn't. I did make a complaint about the fact that bacon and scrambled eggs was not an adequate breakfast on its own, and that I had paid for a full breakfast. I did then receive beans & fried eggs as I had stated, but felt that it was unfair that other people were in the same predicament, and still no extra hot food was sent for any of the other guests. I would advise that the hotel has a better understanding of how many guests will be attending breakfast, and ensure that they prepare for the amount of guests that they would be expecting, even if the unseated guests end up sitting at 10:00. Had a lovely stay at this hotel even thou the surroundings were tired and dated, the staff were very friendly

I find the choice of holtels in Leicester extremely limited especially if you're trying to stay Central I give this hotel an almost enthusiastic 'this will do' It's comfortable enough but won't blow you away in most departments. As staying on business very regularly I have a list of certain requirements for comfy nights - this gets away with it but […] a big black mark goes against the quality of the shower- old and outdated with a huge effort to actually get wet - not a great start tot he day but great breakfast service and decent choice probably balances things out Læs mere

The hotel and room had tired feel and 1st impressions at entrance and reception were not made any better when getting to room. The breakfast was mediocre for a hotel professing to be in this bracket and for the cost of £89 I would have expected a better room and facilities.

Great location for the university and always great service. Would highly recommend it.

This hotel is beautifully situated - near to the station on the Long Walk which is lovely. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom lovely and spacious. We had a meal in the restaurant the first night of our two night stay and it was excellent with very friendly service - the wine was also an excellent standard! What a lovely hotel - shame there aren't enough staff! We waited to have our order taken in the restaurant fir so long that we went to find someone. When he finally came with our wine and someone else's water, he left our wine on another table and we had to serve ourselves. Not a big deal except the restaurant is trying to be high brow with it's menu, […] which is reflected in the prices but not the ambience... could do with reviewing their background music policy and a bit of redecoration! The food was lovely, though, and the room was gorgeous. Had to go and ask for an extra towel as they had only given us one but that was provided straight away. Beautiful hotel with old wood trim, loads of pictures, and plants. The breakfast was brilliant with a wide variety of items on the breakfast bar and attentive staff. The room was beautifully decorated and had a very posh feeling. It was close to the tube and many places to eat. We certainly would recommend this hotel.

I arrived at hotel rather late at night and I felt that the receptionist was not very friendly nor welcoming. He did not even tell me what time breakfast was, where it'd be until I asked (it was my first time staying here)...at any hotel, I'd expect this as standard information to tell your guests when you know they booked bed+breakfast. Room was nice […] and bed was comfortable. Breakfast I ordered was delivered on time and nice but would be nice if they provided pepper/salt and better still tomato sauce. Læs mere

The service was top, as requested there was champagne ready and waiting in my room, one of the glasses int he fridge was cracked and someone was sent immediately to change it. The rooms when you upgrade are lovely, iPod docks, big plasma screens, spots in the bath wall, modern, spacious and funky. Comfortable king size beds and all in all we had a fantastic […] stay, in fact we could have stayed in the room all night. Thanks to the staff/hotel receptionist who was lovely.
