Mexican decor that was beautiful. Spa in room plus a daybed to sit in and look out over the ocean. Great deck facing the ocean with a gas grill. Next to shopping and great restaurants.

Horrible....Old Beds in need of new matress'e's ..Did not sleep because of beds and sand in them...Way over rated as a 3 star. Needs to be taken off Hotels.com.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. It is located close enough to the ocean to hear the waves and walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is an older hotel overlooking the Avila and the pier running out to the ocean. IThe Hotel has been kept up nicely and has may extra features such as a nice kitchenette with refrig and microwave. The hotel has a full Sun Deck on the fouth floor.. This was quite a bonus, as the view was spectacular. This Sun deck is fully furnished with furniture, […] tv, hammocks, Gas BBQ, etc. One drawback may be that there appeared to not be an elevator. The stairs were a good workwout as we stayed on the third floor and visited the Sun Deck daily. The hotel was a very good value for the area. We will be going back again and again, as we really enjoyed our stay. The personnel were very friendly and gave good advice on the resturants and other nearby activities. Læs mere

RIGHT at the beach-what a jewel!!!

Excellent location, friendly staff, older property with deferred maintenance.

Enjoyed our stay right on the beach. Convenience of several coffe shops/bakery/candy and restaurants. Very clean beach and play area for families. Also a general store to buy most anything you might need. The Inn at Avila Beach is an older hotel, yet our room was quite comfortable. We did miss not having a continental breakfast. They have a roof top […] deck which is great. You can bar-b-que, enjoy the hammocks, relax on lounge chairs and just enjoy the view. Free movies and popcorn to have during your stay. Fun rustic place to lay back and relax, close to fresh seafood, wine and much more, didn't miss not having breakfast as we could BBQ on Patio Roof.

We were fairly satisfied with our stay, however the temperature in the room was a significantly warm.The use of the portable fan was insificient and at other hotels that we have stayed, usually provide their guest with items such as hand soap, body wash, shampoo etc. The only item we were missing was hand/body lotion.

our room was NOTHING like the website pictures. Ecletic ambiance that i am not into. cold terra cotta tile flooring with exoticly painted room. our room was on the third floor where the roof leaked and left melon sized blisters on the ceiling dripping water on the flloor. water pipes were extremely noisy, and paper thin walls allowed noise to penetrate. […] parking was in dark tight car ports. the external walk way to our room were sloped more than normal. I heard hammering and other noises so apparently the other third floor rooms had leaks also. though the staff was friendly, this place was not exactly what "I" would recommend to others. This place is beautiful. I'm sitting in a chair by the window right now listening to the surf crashing against Avila Beach, literally a stone's throw away from the front of the Inn. If you are looking for a luxurious stay at a five diamond resort and room service, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quaint little inn, close to […] the beach, with a number of nice little amenities, for a decent price, then you should give this place a try. 1) Construction: The walkways on the outside of the rooms, especially the ones around the courtyard rooms, look and feel as though they could collapse at any moment. Seriously, I don't want to jump and test it for fear of tumbling three stories as part of a collapse. I'm sure it is safe. It feels a little more sturdy when you get to the portion of the walkways that lead to the oceanfront rooms. This could be, and probably is, just my deep seeded paranoia playing with me. The stairs alongside the building also seem to be tilting to the side. 2) Rooms: The rooms are a little dated, and I didn't find the bed to be all that comfortable, but they have a little fridge, a mini stove that looks like it was once part of a play set (this is not a knock on the stove. My family thought it was cute), a fan (I couldn't figure out how to make the AC work, but you don't really need it this close to the beach). My wife really liked the tile work in the kitchen. 3) Amenities: This is where the Inn really scores most of its points. They have free rental of beach toys, including: boogie boards, sand toys, chairs, etc... They also have an extensive library of VHS and DVD movies ranging from Disney movies, to The Exorcist, to the Whoopi Goldberg classic "Sister Act" (3 copies). They have a nice set up of coffee or tea in the morning, and a lounge area with a TV to relax and enjoy breakfast. The greatest perk is the Sun Deck. The Inn was almost exactly as the reviews I read. Older and paper thin walls, but very roomy and the deck on top was phenomenal, such a treat. For the central coast it was reasonably priced and staff was great. What I did not know is the Inn will be remodeled soon and the lobby offers very nice beach chairs and boogie boards at no cost. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and Joe gave us one of their best rooms. The ocean waves crashing on the beach heard and scene from the living area made it an experience to remember. Thank you and we will definitely come back.

The pictures are better than reality; the town (except for this Inn) was rebuilt due to oil contamination in the past 10 yrs. No A/C, windows barely closed, my wall furnace had a gas odor the first night and no staff was available after 11pm when we returned, so slept with windows open into a small well lit courtyard. Stayed here on last minute plans. Didn't know what to expect. The hotel was right at the beach. I didn't have an ocean view but the rooms in front looked awesome. The man who greeted us in the lobby was so nice. You could hear the waves at night. This place is different, hodge podge decor and a very different lobby set up. If you are looking for your typical, boring hotel room, this is not the place for you. The Inn is artsy, creative and fun. We had a ocean front room with a balcony. The Innkeeper was extremely gracious and helpful. I love this place. It is not typical - it's more like being in Spain. The beach is wonderful. The town is a quaint beach town.

we will stay here again. Great location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, older building could use some work. the roof top balcony is wonderful.

I THOUGHT THE ROOM WAS A DIVE. BUT SAW OTHER ROOMS IN THE HOTEL THAT WERE PRETTY UPDATED AND NICE. BUT OUR ROOM WAS SMELLY AND OLD SCHOOL, THE HOTEL HAD A AWESOME BALCONY ON THE TOP FLOOR, PERFECT FOR HANGING OUT, BBQ, OR PLAYING GAMES, OR JUST ENJOYING THE GREAT VIEW.

It's an older hotel and could have used some fresh paint in places, but the staff is wonderful. It was very clean. The upper deck, overlooking the ocean is great. It is very laid-back and informal which we loved. We will definitely return.

The Inn is older, but clean. We had a room with a kitchen. Although we didn't use the kitchen the room was quite large. The patio area is awesome. There are five sections of the patio area where you can have some privacy from each different section. The patio includes chairs, bar, bar b que's, and hammocks all overlooking the beach.

Directly across from the ocean, the staff was very accommodating, friendly, the room needed some pipe repair which they did promptly. There is a great hospitality room and roof top patio that can't be beat. Would definately return!

I loved this hotel! Make sure if you stay at this hotel you read the manual they leave next to the bed to find out all the great stuff they have for FREE!! Plus there right on the beach!! Only ting I would say is wrong is that one of the side staircase is leaning and there's a few soft spots on the hallways. This is why Im rating this hotel as a 4.

Funky little place. Good value. Appeared to be clean enough. Rooms are good size. Lobby staff is very friendly and accomodating. "Interior courtyard" of the hotel could use some spiffing up and the lack of elevator means being awakened by suitcases bumping up/down stairs. It was a cute quaint little hotel. It wasn't anything fancy, most everything was older but very clean. The hotel and rooms were a little older, though not exactly run-down, and were surprisingly comfortable. The lobby had a common room with a TV, internet, microwave with popcorn, tea and hot-chocolate. They also had a small collection of VHS tapes […] and DVDs that you can take to your room (you don't even have to check them out) and play on your in-room DVD/VCR. Our room had a microwave, small fridge, sink, range-top and oven; those were nice and unexpected, though not all of the rooms have them. The top of the hotel has a "sun deck," a cabana-style lounge area complete with hammocks and barbecues that guests can use. The sun deck is a great place to go and relax on a nice day, maybe have lunch while enjoying the view of the beach. Even though it might not be the nicest hotel, it was clean, comfortable, and quiet. If you're going to vacation in or near Avila Beach, it's a fun place to stay. Highly recommended! Læs mere

Avila beach is a slice of heaven, so the fact that the Inn wasn't perfect doesn't matter that much. Request an ocean view or third floor room. "Courtyard view" means looking at the rooms accross the way. We loved hearing the waves as we woke in the morning. My daughter got a kick out of watching VHS movies on the old TV. Staff was friendly.

Hotel is really close to the beach I did recommend this one to a lot Of people already

I hope all of you stay away. More room for us. The hotel is old in appearance, but very comfortable yet ecclectic. The beach is across the street and is just wonderful. The pier is a great walking experience. And walking on the beach from 6-8am is a delight. Great food awaits down the block. We are headed back soon.

This privately owned Inn was so wonderful we booked it for another night. We loved the owners and how welcoming they were right from the start. The rooms are spacious. King bed not available, although the big size of the queen beds solved the problem. Otherwise a very good surprise

Rooms small, bathrooms need updating and there was no internet service or phone in the room OK for vacation, not for business travel
