The New Casablanca on the Ocean - Miami Beach

Værelserne var meget nedslidte, gode senge. Parkering koster 17$ i døgnet men til gengæld henter og parkere de bilen for dig. Ligger dejligt ud til stranden.

Et ok hotel, fin pool, standard værelser og simpel morgenmad. Til gengæld får man noget charme og stil fra "det gamle Miami" som de nye hoteller ikke har.

Vi boede på The Casablanca on The Ocean fra mandag til fredag i uge 8/2012. Trods de 2½ stjerne, som hotellet har, var det et forholdsvist dyrt hotel i forhold til standarden. Dog er hotellets placering 50 m fra stranden dog helt perfekt. Det samme kan siges om den indbydende pool, som vi intet havde at udsætte på. Interiøret var af lidt ældre dato […] ligesom hotellets samlede indtryk set indefra. Det er der i og for sig ikke noget at udsætte på. Hotellet var mest besøgt af spansktalende gæster, men klientellet var ganske fint, og der var sikkerhedsvagter på både inde og ude. (Ved ikke, om der noget at være nervøs for, men det virkede da betryggende, at der konstant var øjne på de 16 tv-skærme, som viste aktiviteter på alle hotellets gange. Det eneste, vi reelt har at udsætte på hotellet er deres helt forfærdelige morgenmad. Udbuddet var simpelthen for pauvert. Vi havde bestilt værelse med to dobbeltsenge og lille tekøkken, da vi rejste med to børn, men vi skulle betale $10 per barn for morgenmad, Med det resultat, at vi købte morgenmad, som vi opbevarede i køleskabet. Desuden skulle vi betale $17 om dagen for "vallet parking" - parkering i en p-kælder p.g.a. hotellets beliggenhed lige ud til den befærdede Collins Avenue. Læs mere

Dette hotel er uden balkon kæmpe minus i sådan et klima! Der er vinduer der er boltret fast og det var først sidste dag vi fik af vide de kunne løsnes! Noget slidt men dejligt det ligger ved stranden. Langt fra south beach hvor aften og nattelivet forgår

Fin beliggenhed ned til vandet og med gode transportmuligheder til South Beach. Udendørs faciliteter fine. Værelserne noget slidte og relativt dårligt rengjort og vedligeholdt. Servicen ok.

The best part of this place is that it is steps away from the beach. If you are just looking to have a place to rest and eat in between the beach fun then this is perfect. It has a kitchen with fridge, oven and microwave. The beds are very uncomfortable but again you are close to the beach:) if you don't get this room at a steal compared to its neighbors […] it's really not worth it:( Læs mere

Basic hotel for good price in great location. Only complaint is that it lacked some basic amenities like a pen in the room or a directory of hotel and area information, most of which you find in the cheapest hotels.

Although I was booked into 'The New Casablanca on the Ocean' (which is actually just called the Casablanca), I was moved to another nearby hotel 'Sixty Sixty' due to 'emergency repairs'. The other hotel was ok, but not 'on the ocean'. A free breakfast was added, but I would have preferred to be in the main hotel. I wonder how often this happens.

1. Parking: you can use public parking which is located 1 block away from hotel (1 $/1hr, free from 6 pm to 8 am) or valeting parking (17 $ for public parking pay time). 2. Front service: not pleasant 3. Room service: 1 hr delay to get new towels. And towels are not fully dried. 4. Location: convenient, private beach access, 7/11 just across street. […] 5. I liked how the hotel had direct beach access and we did have a nice room, it was in a great area. The hotel is in need of some renovations and upkeep. Our ceiling was cracked and had paint patches all over it. Our toilet got plugged and it took over 30 min for someone to come fix it after I had to call twice and then no one came to even clean up the […] bathroom so we had towels all over the floor. We stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights from the 29th Dec 2012 to the 2nd Jan 2013. Our room was on the 4th floor and we had a balcony, which was nice. The room was run down, and the carpets were dirty. The sliding door to the balcony didn't lock. The kitchen and bathroom needs upgrading. Across the hallway there were smoking rooms, so every time we opened […] our door our room smelled of smoke. We had a non smoking room. Every morning we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and the order got messed up every time! The internet did not work, and we couldn't get phone service in the hotel. Only 1 lift was working out of 3 on the day we checked out! The location of this Hotel was great, and the beach was lovely! We wouldn't stay at this Hotel again! Læs mere

We enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect, on the beach, and in nice part of town, 7/11 store is across the street and Publix is witheen the walking distance. I rented a car, but then we walked everywhere so it was not necessary. Part of the building was under construction, but it did not bother us. Our room had a little kichenett, with newer appliances […] and granite countertops. The bathroom was recently remodeled, clean, the whole room was inviting, beds vere comfortable. The swimming pool was HUGE, fun for adults who wanted to swim laps and kids who wanted to play. Water was heated, no problems getting clean towels, plenty of chairs to sit and relax. The restaurant BOGART on site has good food, great fast service and was very affordable. Very good experience overal, recommend to everybody. Læs mere

Right on the beach, 7-11 across the road, a good variety of restaurants within walking distance, and a bus stop nearby which for $2 will take you to either South Beach or Aventura Mall, I would definitely stay here again when in Miami.

The location of the hotel is excellent - between North and South Beach, right on the beach. Because the hotel is on the small side, but the frontage on the ocean is wide, the beach is very uncrowded. The pool is nice. There is a 7-11 right across the street. The refrigerator and microwave in the room was very handy. However, the room itself is desperately […] in need of an update. The carpeting is stained, the bathroom is sad and there are holes in the ceiling. Additionally, we verified twice that the beds in the room were Queen-sized, and despite the fact that this was confirmed by hotel staff, the beds were clearly doubles, not Queens. Læs mere

Hotel was ok, restorant service horrible no wonder is always empty, reception employes will make u stand and wait while they enjoy a rather long personal call, happened more than once, maintnance employee very friendly and helpful

The hotel is in a bad condition. The entrance hall looks really nice, but that´s all. It was so loud in our room that it was hard to sleep. The Location is ok for Miami Beach, but not more. Windows do not close properly so you hear the noise of the wind all the time. Air condition is old, too. Valid parking is 17$ a night.

This was a horrible experience. The worst. The hotel lobby was borderline dingy. The floors were dingy. The rooms were mediocre. At 3:11 in the morning, I called downstairs to ask them to come up to the next door room ... to quiet the inconsiderate people next door. At 4:11 ... with the noise still going on ... I TRIED again. But, no answer. After several […] attempts, I gave up. I took a shower ... and LEFT the hotel. It was like being in a dormitory. I have been staying in hotels for 35 years. This was the first time this had ever happened ... not leaving, not repeated attempts to address the situation ... but, I have NEVER had to ever call a hotel front desk to ask them to quiet another guest. Never. Not in 35 years. I am trying to get the hotel manager on the phone. BUT, TO NO AVAIL. I will keep trying ... but, I strongly urge guests to stay away from this place. Læs mere

During our trip in Florida we stayed at 3 different hotels (2 in Miami, 1 in Orlando). We had the highest expectations to Casablanca, because of the description, price, pictures etc.. The room had a really nice view to the beach, no finger to put on that!! The room was though really used and old, nothing at all as we expected. The location didn't reached […] our expections either. Without knowing anything about Miami, we figured out that the location on Collins Ave might be a great location, but to get to south beach, were everything happens, we had to take a bus for 15-20 min each way (at least we could take a bus 3 min away from the hotel for $2). The staff were helpful with etc the busses. I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel again, maybe if I'm coming back with a future family I would stay here, but while I'm still young and/or travelling with friends I would choose a better location (south beach!). Renovations seemed to be about furniture rather than the actual room although tile floor was nice. Wall and door frames paint chipping here and there. Requested a queen bed and was given two doubles. Also given a city view although Expedia advertising said all rooms have at least partial water views. Little soundproofing. Could hear conversations in […] nearby rooms, traffic. Very nice room with two double beds, a full kitchen including an oven and a huge wardrobe. Our room had a great view of both the pool and the ocean. Right on the beach which is great. Enthusiastic staff. Clean rooms. Only downsides were that there was some maintenance going on although not very early in the morning and that parking was a little expensive […] but that's to be expected in Miami beach! Læs mere

The service was good and we had a wonderful view. The rooms were spacious but the bathrooms were uncomfortable and tiny. The outlets were loose so anything that we plugged in would fall out. There was construction in the hallways and the cables and pipes in the ceiling were exposed. The options for breakfast was poor. The food was mediocre. Friendly staff, but did not allow early checkin. The hotel is under renovation, so the drills and hammers start early in the morning. Don't expect to sleep in. Had a nice water view, but the hotel is very dated.

Most of the pictures are very misleading. In particular the bathroom. I was very horrified with my bathroom and our friends was just as bad. Very gross, in much need of updating.The kitchen did not provide a coffee pot or toaster had to ask the front desk for one (which they promptly provided) The rooms are clean but also very much in need of upgrading. […] Unfortunatly because of this they give the overall feeling of being dirty. I would never pay the full rate for this hotel but the sale rate is worth it. The lobby is beautiful. The pool and beach are fantastic and and make it worthwhile. The staff were helpful and nice. Restaurant had good food. My room had a balcony that was literally on the roof and was disgusting full of garbage and filth and connected to other balconies. I did not feel too safe. My balcony and sliding door appeared to of never been cleaned. The door was rickety and I had to struggle to open it. It seems that some of the rooms are rented long term as condos I think. There was one broken chair on my balcony and no table. I would of enjoyed my stay a lot more if the rooftop had been cleaned as it was a shame to have a beautiful view of the ocean and have to look over the filth on my balcony and the roof. We felt very safe on the beach, even after dark. The hotel had security on site. The area doesnt have a lot of shopping and few restaurants. We found a gem of a little cafe across the street. Overall a pleasant hotel, but could need some TLC. Perfect location, and mostly service minded staff - did have an "oh well" encounter with one receptionist - he did not really care about a cockroach in my room, bit disappointed.

Wasn't allowed to take coffee from not free continental breakfast, in our own coffee cups. Advertised continental breakfast doesn't mention charge or that every item must be consumed within diningroom.

Dissapointing.totally completely disappointing. This is the worst hotel I stayed in the states. price is too high for that hotel also. Pool is so dirty. Final comment: unhappiness guaranteed.
