My wife and I returned from Rome yesterday and were both very pleased with our choice of Residenza Frattina for a three night stay. The hotel is a series of rooms inside a beautiful old building, as such there is no elevator and you do need to be able to walk up some steps. The location is perfect, if you like to walk to you get from the Hotel to the […] Colosseum in half an hour or 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps. There is an abundance of shopping and dining options locally. The room was spacious and kept nicely warm on a cold weekend in Rome. I only marked down the 'Condition' of the hotel for two reasons, firstly the floorboards creak above you (so if people are walking around you know about it), in such an old building this is inevitable. Secondly the conversations from the hall were clearly audible in our room. However this did not prove to be a nuisance as we were up and out of the room early each day. Finally the staff are just wonderful, they speak excellent English and when we had to leave early on our last morning they made sure a breakfast was left for us in our room the night before. Great hotel for families and couples. It's a very small hotel with a few rooms in a building from the 1700. The rooms are nicely decorated and it has a feeling of living in a house rather than in a big hotel. This was our first trip to Rome, the Residenza Frattina has a fantastic location, central for all the main attractions. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, giving good advice on places to see and places to eat. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the rooms spacious and warm. The breakfast was very good with a good choice to start the day and the free mini bar with soft drinks was a great extra touch. We will definitely be returning to Rome and will definitely be booking to stay at this hotel again. The stairs some people mention weren't a problem for us. Our room looked out on to Via Frattina and was a little noisy at times, but this is a central location so it's to be expected and didn't cause us a problem. Overall, a fantastic long weekend. We were disappointed with this hotel as the decor appeared very tired and in need of updating. Our en suite bathroom was miniscule - heaven help those with the larger figure. The staff were all very kind and helpful whatever the question. Cosy hotel with a great atmosphere. PERFECT location!!! Impeccable, friendly service. Fine breakfast for an Italian B&B - including both healthy fare and sinful fruit tarts! The facilities for making tea in the room, and the free mini-bar, were particularly appreciated. Great beds. This is a small, friendly hotel in an excellent location. All of the main sights are within walking distance, and there are plenty of good places to eat nearby. It's in a pretty quiet street with virtually no traffic noise (we were at the front of the hotel as well). Had a wonderful stay here. The staff was all very courteous and helpful. They even helped me with my very limited knowledge of Italian (most shop owners could not be bothered with my limited Italian, and would quickly ask if I knew English!). Our room was an interior room, so we obviously had no view: not a problem for us, but something to ask about […] if you do want one. The staff also arranged for a private driver to take us to the airport, which was extremely helpful and convenient. Location of the hotel is excellent. Spanish Steps are only a couple blocks away. Trevi Fountain is only about a 10 minute walk. We even walked to the Colosseum. Loads of quality shopping and dining in the immediate area. As others have written: there is no elevator and the hotel desk is on the second floor (I believe they count floors as street level, first, second, etc.) but they had someone carry our bags up to our room. So if your bags are heavy like ours were: one person stay with your bags and another person walk up - I'm sure they will carry the bags all the way up from street level. My wife and I would definitely stay here again. Do your homework regarding staying in Rome (taxi rates, etc) and you can have a very nice stay at Residenza Frattina. Læs mere

We stayed at Residenza Frattina for our last night, before leaving to go back to Australia. As we were not leaving until 10.00pm on the day we were checking out, we were allowed to leave our bags at the hotel. They also arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and take us back on our departure, which was most convenient not to have to worry […] about it or our luggage. The position of the hotel was great, walking distance to all the main attractions. The service of the staff was very friendly, did not really have anything to complain about, room was clean, bathroom, other than the bath/shower being quite high to step into, therefore could be a problem if you were elderly or you found it hard to lift your leg to climb into the bath. Walls were paper thin, as we could hear the people next door, but wasn't really a problem, as we fell asleep quite quickly. I was impressed that there was tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which was a pleasant surprise after spending the last month travelling around Europe. Also a real bonus, they had a few complimentary cans of drink and water in the barfridge and in the dining area, you could relax and make a tea or coffee with biscuits etc there for you to eat, whenever you chose. These simple little extras would make it a hotel I would definately recommend to anyone who wants to be in the heart of Rome. Læs mere

If you want a room in the centre of Rome for a few days this is in a fantastic location. We walked to all the main sights easily. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast set us up well for the day. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around, some are very reasonably priced. The hotel is individualistic. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The buffet breakfast is very good. The bedroom is comfortable, has air conditioning and a fridge with complementary soft drinks. Excellent central location.

Would strongly reccommend this hotel. Situated well for sights, shops and restaurants. Only drawback is the actual hotel starts up on the second floor so for some elderly or handicapped it could be a problem--no elevator.

We were given a great family room. There was plenty of room for us as well as a view of the street below. We had a great location and were able to walk to our sites as well as close to the Metro. The hotel staff were helpful and courteous. It was quaint with character.

We loved the hotel and the location was both safe and fun. It is 49 stone steps up to the lobby, and our air conditioning was not working for most of our stay. I have to say, though, that the staff was attentive and tried to address all our problems.

As other reviewers have written, this hotel does NOT have an elevator, and we knew that when we booked it. The staff was very helpful in taking our luggage to our room and helping us down to our transportation when we left. All of the staff spoke excellent English, except for the nice lady in the breakfast area. The desk staff were very helpful in giving […] directions to different places and recommending places to eat, etc. The hotel location is one of its best features--midway between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, convenient to the Metro (about a 5-10 minute walk). Our particular room had little useable storage space, no hooks or counters in the bathroom, and no shower curtain--we were told that this was the situation for this particular room, and they were full, so no other rooms were available. This hotel is in an excellent location for seeing the major sights of Rome, but it's a bit tired looking, needs a good make-over. Breakfast buffet is OK, but nothing to write home about, bed was comfortable, and staff were very helpful. Is it good value for money? For it's location alone, probably yes.

Our room was very comfortable. It overlooked the Via Frattina, which can be quite lively (although mostly pedestrian). However, by closing the shutters, windows and internal door/shutters, all noise can be eliminated. It wasn't too hot during our stay, so we didn't need the air conditioning on - this would be a must in the summer I should think. It […] was very nice to have a fridge in the room, with complimentary water and soft drinks provided. Also, towelling robes and slippers were provided, again very thoughtful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast - Boiled eggs, cereals,rolls, meats, cheese, yoghurts, fruit, pastries, toast and jams. The only downside I can think of, is that the wooden floors are a bit creaky and the walls thin, which may be annoying if your neighbours are inconsiderate! But that's just part of the quirkiness. The hotel is very secure and accessed via an electronic gate, then up 4 flights of stone stairs. This wasn't a problem for us, but might be for those with limited mobility. The hotel is central to all the main attractions of Rome, and we walked everywhere quite easily - for us this is an enjoyable part of the city experience. However, the Spagna Metro station is just a couple of minutes away by the Spanish Steps. Overall, I would certainly recommend this small, friendly hotel, and we very much enjoyed our stay there. This hotel is perfect for exploring Rome and its attractions. It is centrally placed and we were able to walk to all the main attractions. There are plenty of restautants and cafes closeby and you are in the middle of all the shops. Do not expect a modern hotel with all mod cons. The room is a reasonable size but well maintained There are 12 rooms and a comfortable lounge/bar area where breakfast is served in the morning - Continental style but a good choice. I don't know where to start praising this hotel. We had a wonderful 4 day break in November at this hotel. A boutique hotel on the second floor of a town house in the heart of the shops and the centre of Rome... only a few minutes walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. All the main attractions are within a 30-40 min walking distance which really […] is advantageous. As if that wasn't enough the staff were so welcoming and helpful from providing information about the city to booking a return taxi to the airport..The room itself was faultless... crisp clean bedlinen, complimentary soft drinks provided in the mini bar, clean towels every day, daily room service to service the room whilst we were were out and free toiletries in the bathroom from skin care products to soap and shower caps ... they even provided the use of bathrobes and slippers. The 'continental' breakfast was something else. We expected a few croissant and rolls but were delighted with every ham, roll, cake, yoghurt, cereal, fruit ... even eggs ... which really set you up for a day's sightseeing. We loved this hotel... and would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone- it was a real gem with luxurious touches and high attention to detail. They even provided free wi-fi and the use of a computer. The bar/breakfast room was beautiful ... I could go on... but book for yourself - you will not be disappointed. We loved all things "Frattina" except two minors.., The shower in our room was quite small and there is no elevator. The hotel is on the second floor so we had to drag our luggage up the flights of stairs but only once and then we were fine. The good news is that the staircase was not steep and made for easy climbling.....a gentle slope with wide steps […] helped. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning in a beautiful european sitting room. This was a lovely, typically Italian Hotel in a fantastic location (Spanish steps (2 minute walk) and Trevi fountain (5-10 minute walk) . The staff were very helpful and friendly (without being too friendly) and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

We arrived in Rome on the 15th August 2011 for a four night stay in the Hotel Residenza Frattina. The staff were all extremely friendly and always ready to help us with anything we required whilst giving us advise on how to make the most of Rome. The location could not have been better. Next to the Spanish Steps and the Spagna Metro. The location allowed […] us to see Rome in 3 hour steps as the hotel was only 20-30minutes away from all major sights. This allowed welcome breaks out of the sun a couple of times during the day. An extra welcoming feature was the free soft drink in the fridge, cakes and the air conditioning. Breakfast was continental and set you up for the day and gave you an adequate selection of food and drinks. All the staff were friendly and the rooms clean. Although the walls are a little thin this did not affect our holiday and the drawer and wardrobe space in the rooms was more than i have experienced abroad before. The lounge was pretty and peaceful. After an expensive dinner for a family of 4, and tired legs from walking around Rome all day we enjoyed retiring to the lounge for a peaceful game of cards. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Rome. It is a small but homely place to stay with everything you need. . Thank you to all the staff. Læs mere

We arrived in Rome a little early, but Vittoria was extremely helpful and allowed for us to leave our luggage until our room was ready. When we returned a couple hours later, our luggage was stowed in our room. The a/c was wonderful after a half days shopping. My advise is to make sure your air conditioner works. Ours started leaking on top of the TV below it but had they had it fixed in 48 hours. Shower had no room to lean over to be able to wash your feet. Toilet was in a cramped space between the wall and the shower stall. For someone who is 6 feet tall and 200lbs it was a tight space. Otherwise, the […] hotel staff was SUPERB and made all the difference in our stay and made it all more bearable. Further, their bar features splits of Chianti for 6 Euros and 750ml bottles of Merlot for 10 Euros which made it even more amenable. The location of this hotel isgreat - really central, fantastic shopping and an easy walk to lovely restaurants and many of the key sights. We were made very welcome by the staff and as the hotel occupies a few floors of a genuine Roman 17th century building, there's a wonderfully authentic feel when staying here. The only word of caution I would have […] is that (probably due to the age of the building) there really is almost no soundproofing between the rooms, so if your neighbours want to stay up chatting til 4am (like ours did on one night!) you will have trouble sleeping... For those who want to be in the middle of tourism and shopping central, the location is great... right on a major fancy shopping street. But this means lots of street noise during the day, though quiet once the stores closed. We found a few good restaurants very close by. The hotel is in an old (18th century?) building with no elevator...reception is […] two flights up, and the rooms are on several floors above, so if stairs are a problem, this is not for you. Very nice and helpful staff, most of whom could manage English pretty well. My husband got sick and they were helpful about finding a doctor and locating a 24 hr pharmacy. We spent more time than expected in the room, and wished there had been some English language cable tv stations... but normally that wouldn't have been a problem for us. Nice breakfast every day; a fridge in the room with complimentary drinks, but definitely not cold. I wouldn't stay here again, but that's because we really like to have two rooms when we travel, and fancy shopping isn't our highest priority. This was my 2nd stay. Charming hotel in an awesome, very convenient location. Sits between the Spanish Steps and via del Corso. Within minutes walk of most top sites. In center of great shopping too! Very helpful, friendly staff. No elevators so be prepared to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs.

väldigt mysigt ställe med få rum och en trevlig frukostsal med högst fem bord. Utmärkt läge mitt i smeten men samtidigt väldigt lungt. Rent och fint. Enda som min sambo klagade på var stenhårda sängar vilket förekommer ganska ofta i italienska hotell. Väldigt gott frukost med färska kroassaner, ägg, och olika pålägg av utmärkt qualite. Vi ble veldig overrasket da vi kom inn jernporten til hotellet, og så det pitoreske gårdsrommet til hotellet. De slitte innvendige steintrappene fortalte sin egen historie, men opp i 4. etg. med kofferter var et litt tungt. Ellers var Frattina er hyggelig sted å bo, og både frokostdamen og resepsjonistene var veldig hyggelige og imøtekommende. Stort […] pluss at engelskkunnskapene var så gode hos resepsjonistene. Hotellet ligger svært sentralt til severdigheter og designerbutikker. Eneste minus er at det ikke er så mange gode restauranter i nærheten. Hotellet er lite, men har bra standard, er rent og har hyggelig betjening.

Residenza Frattina was a really pleasant hotel, served great breakfast and had a very friendly staff. The building is beautiful and location very good. For some people the fact that the hotel resides at second floor (two flights of stairs) and has no elevator may be a problem (plus some rooms are located in the third floor). Well worth a visit!
