Our first time in Lyon. The staff could not have been nicer. Their recommendations for restaurants, etc. were most welcome. Yes, the hotel has a few signs of wear but is very clean and welcoming. Also, the buffet breakfast was excellent. We would stay there again and are happy to recommend it.

This is a wonderful old hotel, a bit faded in a few spots, but enchanting nonetheless. The bar/sitting room next to the lobby is stunning, and the old (but efficient) elevator adds to the charm . We were in one room overlooking the adjacent public square for the first five nights; even though the rooms are well […] insulated, the noise from late revelers outside finally got to us (we are light sleepers), so we asked to be moved to the quieter side of the hotel, overlooking the street. The outstanding hotel staff was very accommodating and moved us without a hitch. The full buffet breakfast is pricey, but the hotel also offers an express continental breakfast at a much lower cost. We stayed in the junior suite (for the price of a single room, thanks to hotels.com). It was absolutely perfect for us. We loved the open-spaced design of the rooms, the charming decor, the old-fashioned elevator, the stunning lobby, and the friendly and helpful front desk. One of the best deals we found on our trip. The location was absolutely perfect--set […] in between the two rivers in the heart of the city. The old city across the river is a short walk away. Don't miss the Sunday markets--the artist/artisan market across the river was outstanding and the only of its kind we found in France. The food markets across the way were also a delight. The front desk is nothing but helpful--sending up chocolate cake late at night, staying on hold while setting up various appointments, sending up cutlery, plates and glasses to our room when we dined in, and always with a smile. Note: the elevator is up a few steps, which was mildly problematic with our luggage (there's no bellboy) and would pose a issue for disabled individuals. Wish the sumptuous--albeit overpriced--bar had more patrons (it was just the two of us the night we decided to grab a drink). The Carlton Hotel has an ideal location for exploring the city, a slightly old-school decor (including an old-fashioned elevator that is either endearing or simply dated, based on your tastes) and friendly service.

We only stopped in here one night, but found the hotel very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was REALLY good (the best we saw in 2.5 weeks in Europe) - lots of high quality choices and the staff person was very attentive. We took a cab from the train station, as the bus and metro system, though thorough, seemed like more than we wanted to learn for […] one night. if you aren't spending much time in your room, this is the place for you. The hotel itself is a beautifully decorated historical building, but it is definitely time for an update. My husband and I spent a weekend at the Mercure Carlton Lyon to sightsee in Lyon. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and English-speaking. The breakfast buffet was very good, with far more choices than we expected: eggs, meat, cheese, cereal, juice, fruit, pastries. The hotel location is perfect for sightseeing in Lyon, within […] easy walking distance of the historic area, and convenient to the easy-to-use public transit system. Shops and restaurants abound. This attractive hotel is in the perfect central location, and yet is quiet, too. Elegant and "old style", with a wonderful old elevator as the defining feature of the decor, with the rich colours of wallpaper and curtains. Excellent hotel, great location, the staff is very kind and helpfull. Very recommanded!!

It's not the most fancy hotel I have stayed in, but for sure one I will recommend. The staff is very friendly, serviceminded and helpful. It's placed perfectly in the city center of Lyon. The breakfast is one of the better ones and it has the charm of an older hotel, especially the very charming old style elevator. It's good value for money.

Hotel Carlton Mercure Has an excellent position to both rivers and the old city centre which is full of wonderful restaurants. It is housed in an elegant historic grand style building, a few minutes from the major shopping precinct and walking street, Rue de la Republique. breakfast was very good and rooms were very comfortable.

This is a large Hotel centrally located and close to main station. Charming Hotel with friendly staff. Excellent room and service. Intend returning to Lyon and will stay here if possible.

The Mercure Carlton is an old hotel that has undergone reservations. Our room was large and well laid out. However, the walls looked a bit worn as did the bathroom fixtures (for example, the tub had been refinished, but was peeling and the sink stopper did not work). Belle hôtel historique, malheureusement les chambres n'ont pas autant de charme que les parties communes!

Hotel très bien situé, proche du vieux Lyon et de toutes les commodités. Environnement magnifique, buffet excellent. Je recommande fortement. Je regrette seulement la vue de notre chambre sur d'autres murs.

Personnel très sympa et attentionné, situation centre ville parfaite, magnifique ascenseur et escalier ainsi que tout le bâtiment. Rien à dire, tout était parfait !

Lage des Hotels sehr gut. Restaurant im gleichen Haus preiswerte und gute Küche, empfehlenswert. Zimmer eher klein, aber fein. Reception sehr gute Bedienung.

Accueil trés professionnel, service irréprochable. Hotel certe dans son "jus" ( parquet qui craque...), quoi de plus normal pour un hôtel dans un bâtiment classé monument historique. Position trés centrale, donc pratique pour une visite à pied du vieux lyon.

Un quasi sans fautes pour cet hôtel de charme. Au coeur de la ville, calme, accueil parfait, petit déjeuner excellent, peut-etre prix un peu élevé 16 euros par personne.

Excellent emplacement, parfait pour une courte visite du vieux Lyon. Accueil remarquable et immeuble de charme authentique. Chambre standard calme et confortable. Si on veut être pointilleux, tout petit bémol pour le petit-déjeûner dans notre cas, avec un buffet chaud dégarni à 9h30 et un service pouvant être amélioré.

Hôtel bien situé, pores d'une rue piétonne. Le charme d'une autre époque.

Hotel de charme à l'ancienne idéalement placé près des rues piétonnes et commerçantes. Personnel très aimable. Seul regret, petit déjeuner en sus.

Tres bonne qualite prix. Propre, avec un vrai style et tres central. Fortement recommande.

Klassiskt franskt hotell (med grind+ trä/glas-dörrar och soffa i hissen) som väl sett sina allra bästa dagar, men med charm och vänlighet. Mycket rymligt och fräscht rum med sköna sängar. Riklig frukost med både kallt, varmt och gott om frukt. Läget perfekt för shopping och kultur. Mindre bra för flygplatstransport - det fick bli dyr taxi.

Små, men bekväma rum. Fantastisk hiss. Bara den är värt ett besök. OK frukost för att vara i Frankrike. Mycket välstädade rum, men badrummet stank av mögel. Gratis internet med hyfsad fart. Svår med parkering, även för avstigning, men P hus finns ett par kvarter bort. Använd dom!! Gjorde misstaget att parkera på gatan sista dagen och när jag kom ut […] stod bilen framför och bakom så nära att det var omöjligt att komma ut. Cet hotel est situé en plein centre de Lyon.Le personnel trés gentil ,les chambres sont confortables.L'ascenseur ancien était un petit plus .Nous avons pris le petit déjeuner dans la chambre et ce fut un moment trés agréable.

Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer waren etwas klein aber in Ordnung. Das Frühstücksbuffet war ausreichend, vielleicht etwas teuer. Die Bedienung an der Bar war leider lausig. Alles in allem aber eine sehr empfehlenswerte Adresse.

Luxe à l'ancienne vitraux remarquable dans la cage d'escalier,peinture au plafond du bar ....tous y es pour passer un excellent séjour, accueil petit déjeuner qualité parfaite. en plein centre ville de Lyon à deux pas de la place Bellecour...vivement que je puisse y retourner
