The best thing about the Holiday Inn Express was the front desk. The people who worked there were helpful and very friendly. My room was clean, but the maintenance was terrible. The bathroom sink was loose, and during my stay the sink pipes developed a leak. The problem was fixed fairly quickly, but in reattaching the sink to the counter, there were […] two 2x4's installed to secure the sink, and these were left there for a day. With this problem, the hotel should have given me another room. Also, the vending machine on my floor didn't work. I lost $3.00 in it. The hotel is also noisy and attracts a party crowd. On Friday evening people were checking into their rooms with multiple cases of beer in tow. People were screaming and yelling half the night. My neighbors would make noise until at least 2AM. Between the condition of the hotel, its location, and its clientele, I would never stay there again. Læs mere

Absolute shocker - used condom under our bed. Had to move ourselves to another room, which we were assuming was a marginal upgrade. What was puzzling was no apology from anyone at the hotel - it may have resulted in me not penning this review. The wait to get a key for a different room for night two was numbingly slow (one person handling check-ins) […] on a Red Wings night. The lobby bathroom is actually in the dive sports bar attached to the hotel where a patron was snoring in the cubicle at 3pm - nice. The hotel and rooms were very clean and it was so close to the arena which was the reason why we were in Detroit. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, in particular the valet staff....they joked with us and were so nice. The food at the breakfast buffet was good and there was plenty of it. I will most definitely stay at this hotel again.

Just a few blocks from Campus Martius Park and other sites, but not much right by the hotel. Motown Winter Blast was over-rated. Lobby opens to the valet/garage area--freezing cold! Clean, comfortable room, but way understaffed. We waited up to 20 minutes each time we wanted our car from the valet parking. I had to make trips downstairs to the desk […] to get items I requested. Coffee was not kept up; breakfast is very good, but everyone wore their coats because of the cold air coming from outside into the lobby/first floor. My husband and I stayed here because we were in town for a hockey game. It's proximity to the arena was great, but no hot water in the hotel! The elevators were scary, and there was no area information available (dining,attractions, not even a TV guide) I've paid less for valet parking in LA and New York...

The staff was very friendly and helpful, made my stay enjoyable. The breakfast was very nice.

Parking was a breeze and only $20 for the night. Check in and Check out was quick and easy. The hotel was well maintained and breakfast doesn't end until 10am which is nice for those who aren't morning people. It was the best value in the area and we had a great experience. I would certainly stay again.

The price was not worth what was received. I understand it was downtown and expected to pay more but ..... Also, if parking needs to be paid (as was the case) for this it should have been included not something you find out as you pull up. The shuttle to events stops at 10pm. I came in for business and the staff was very friendly and professional. Although it wasn't as fancy, the staff was comparable as my previous experiences with the 4 Seasons and the Trump. I didn't expect that at all. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definetely recommend this to a friend.

This Hotel is great and the location is perfect you are close to the people mover and can get to the different attractions that way.

We stayed New Years Eve night - obviously it was busy. However service was still pretty darn good. Two complaints, however slight - elevators were very slow and the free breakfast the next morning was lagging behind demand (probably because of the packed house).

Hotel has a shuttle to take you around the city. Pool, but no hot tub. Rooms were clean with nice tv and furniture. Front desk folks were all helpful an attentive.

The room we stayed in was clean, spacious and fairly comfortable. There were some items that could do with some maintenance however. The bathroom was adequate, though a little on the small side and I loved the size of the bathtub. Overall, I would stay here again when visiting downtown Detroit.

This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the games although they do provide a free shuttle. There is also a pretty decent bar/resturant connected to it and the hot breakfast that was included with the stay wasawesome! It included pancakes, eggs, sausage...the whole works. The hotel was great. Located right next to people mover if u don't want to walk. If u do take the people mover make sure to have quarters because you need them for the fee. If you want to walk to the game, it is a nice walk. There is a bar attached to the hotel that is great for entertainment if you want to have beers before or after the game. The hotel is located in a not so desireable area of downtown Detroit. BUT... the price was right, the service was excellent, it is right across the street from a Detroit People Mover Station, which took me everywhere I needed to be. Once I parked my car, I did not have to move it again. My only complaint is that the breakfast area and lobby is very […] small, especially for the number of rooms in this hotel. Wonderful breakfast. We also enjoyed the pool. This is our second stay and will stay again while in the Motor City. Close to the ballpark and we enjoyed the walk there and back.

We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. There was a microwave, fridge and coffee pot in each room. It was a little hectic checking when we got there-that being said I am sure it was overwhelming for the staff with all the events going on in the area- A concert at Ford Field, Tigers vs Indians game, an Ethnic […] festival one of the biggest and a big road rally of sorts with historical cars. Our hotel also had 2 wedding parties and a family reunion going on. Initially, we were placed in 2 rooms with King beds when we had requested 2 rooms with double beds. A quick call to the front desk and the problem was quickly fixed~! They also, offered shuttles to and from the game and the concert. The people mover is only a block away making it easy to get around. I would recommend the hotel and will stay again in the future. Læs mere

Me and my husband stayed here while we attended a concert at ford field.. The hotel its self was ok other then no sign for valet parking so we had to park at the very top of a parking garage 10 floors high.. It was super noisey door were loudly shut all night! We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on the night of the Kid Rock Concert. We had a few rooms! The staff was very friendly and well organized considering the hotel was sold out. We checked in a timely manor. GREAT FREE buffet breakfast the next morning. Well stocked! Definitely GREAT price and GREAT place to stay! Thanks Holiday Inn Express!

Everything was great here. Nice beds, pillows and the room had been revamped. The bathroom is small, but adequete. The towel bar came off the wall when we were there, but these things happen. I would stay here again. Walking to Comerica Park/Ford Field was only like 5-6 blocks. Great location.

From the moment I entered the hotel, the staff was affable and went beyond the norm to be helpful. Even in the elevators, the staff made an effort to be pleasant. The people I encountered are a great asset to this hotel, and I hope the manager realizes how well they reflect on this establishment. The location was great - near the People Mover and bus […] terminal, so it made transportation easier. So often hotels offer few TV channels; that was not the case here, for many offerings were available. Access to the computers was not a problem while I was there. My room smelled of smoke when I walked in. Service was horrible at the front desk. I locked myself out of my room and they refused to let me back in becasue the room was under my friends name who was out even though I payed for the room with my credit card. Front desk people and managers were very rude and unhelpful.

Staff was friendly & helpful. Went to Detroit for a ball game. Hotel is a block away from a "People Mover" station. Has a stop across from the stadium, very inexpensive to ride. Hotel was good, surrounding area was not, Great food @ restaurant next door.

I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was. Everything was like a 4 star hotel. Very nice.

they messed up half of my reservation. long story short. it took an hour to straighten up mess and then after we got our rooms, suppose to get 2 queens per, I received 1 King bed per room. this place never seems very organized

I would put it at the bottom of my comfort level for hotels. Not because of the hotel, but because of the location. We didn't feel safe outside of our room. Looking back, I would have spent a few extra bucks for the double tree or ren.

Perfect if attending events in downtown Detroit. Walking distance from many major venues in the city. Helpful service and professional atmosphere. Only complaint is that room service was not delivering during my stay. This may have been due to events taking place in the restaurant or possibly the recent switch to a Holiday Inn ownership.
