The hotel was very close to the Birmingham Christmas market which was great. Just a pity the car parks are several minutes walk away - not easy when having to drop passengers - but as a city hotel it was lovely.

This was a great location It is right by the railway station and the shops The room was to a very high standard and very clean The only minor problem was the hot breakfast was a little cool Apart from that it was excellent

Couldn't fault my over night stay in the Burlington Macdonald Hotel in Birmingham. I was most impressed with the attitude and helpfulness of the administrative staff who checked me in and offered their experience of the location and surrounding areas. I would like to make special praise for Vanessa in this circumstance.

The room was dusty, bathroom sink was faulty had to call three times to have it looked at but still nothing worked. The noise from the traffic and local council road works carried on all night so could not sleep.

Clean comfortable hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying here next time I'm in Birmingham.

Old city center hotel given facelift. In middle of one way traffic system, OK if arriving by rail, bit by car. arking is exensive and four blocks away. In heart of borderline area. Some may not feel safe walking to car. Reception understaffed. Free wireless in lobby only.

Nice clean hotel and rooms situated ideally for the centre of Birmingham. Stayed for 2 nights. 1st night no problems even though we arrived late. 2nd night ordered room service which was of a very high standard. Only problem was that on the morning we had to check out there wasn't any water. The hotel has it's own well and the pump had failed. It […] meant we couldn't shower. Everyone staying there was offered a full refund for that night, so it wasn't an issue, just a slight inconvenience. I would stay there again, if visiting Birmingham again. Læs mere

This hotel is great. Didn't eat there but the room and staff were marvellous and it's one minute walk from the station and to the shopping centre and good restaurants. Recommend highly.

Single room was perfect, sometime single rooms very tiny, but this was wonderful, I was very surprised, a beautiful room with a great bathroom with the choice of a bath or shower. The price was very reasonable. The Hotel was situated right near New Street Station and Shops, a really good night sleep without any noise from the twon or trains...

central location but to old need to be renewed

A lovely hotel with a prime central location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was recently refurbished and was very clean and tidy.

Excellent all round, room was slightly smaller than previous stay. Reception staff well spoken and friendly, concierge service following morning an added bonus. The only hotel worth staying at in Birmingham really, will be back again.

To see a once fine and fabulous hotel so unloved and forgotten with no reason. This could be the best hotel in Birmingham yet it feels like a cross between a zombie movie and a comedy b&b

Weekenders, those people who stay just to go clubbing for half the night, make noisy neighbours.

I chose this hotel because of its location, the room was a reasonable size, and the location of the hotel was very convenient. The room was in need of decoration with lots of dirty marks around the walls, the paint in the bathroom was peeling with a large damp patch on the ceiling. The bath panel was falling to pieces, and although the shower looked […] good it was not possible to adjust the temperature of the shower. Our room overlooked a busy road, I accept that there will be some noise from outside in a city centre, but as the windows didn’t shut properly it was much louder than it should have been. I’d hoped for a room which reflected the price I paid. I now wish that I’d stayed in a Travelodge/inn for half the price. Læs mere

Very nice hotel service very good and staff very friendly and helpful.

A beautifully appointed hotel and i was provided with an immaculate room. Bathrooms were spotless and the fixtures and furniture were tasteful and cool. Certainly one of the better hotel rooms i've had in recent memory. Front counter staff were very personable but had some issues with reliability of room service and extremely long delays in food service […] within the bar/restaurant. Aside from these food service issues, it was an excellent place to stay... really charming building!! Læs mere

The hotel has substantial character and is in an excellent central location. We did have a shower which, due to a bizzare plumbing arrangement, it wasn't possible to turn on, but we had a bath which was fine instead. Would use this hotel again as all other aspects were very good.

Durante mi estancia de 3 dias en Birmingham, tuve 2 problemas: me dieron habitación de categoria inferior a la pagada en hotels.com y 2 dias no limpiaron la habitación. En las reclamaciones a recepción, fueron muy maleducados, faltandome al respeto y diciendo que lo que me pasó era porque hice la reserva en hotels.com en lugar de hacerla directamente […] con el hotel. Me sentí muy agraviado, pero con exigencia firme, finalmente despues de mucho batallar me dieron la habitación correcta. Læs mere

Mycket bra läge för tågresenären. Inget negativt att säga. Utnyttjade inte någon hotelltjänst förutom frukost.

Stort hotell, men det finns flera störande moment. Innergården är fylld med ventilationsutrustning som går av och på hela tiden, även under natten. Fönstren är svåra öppna och stänga och är dåligt isolerade. Mycket känns snabbt fixat för att se bra ut på bild. Internet är dyrt och fungerar väldigt dåligt och i få rum, max en tredjedel av alla rum som […] finns på hotellet - även via kabel. Deras lösning på det är att man får sitta i deras lobby där dom fått till täckningen med trådlösa nät. Bussarna i Birmingham går förbi två sidor av hotellet och låter minst lika mycket som ventilationen. Mycket dålig kommunikation mellan de som jobbar på hotellet. En person säger man skall byta rum, en annan vägrar låta en göra det. En tredje låter dig göra det utan problem 10 minuter senare. Bad om en taxi till flygplatsen, det glömde dom beställa så jag missade nästan flyget hem. Lämnade min väska till personalen vid ett tillfälle, dom har ett speciellt rum för lagring av gästernas bagage. När jag ska hämta ut den frågar dom efter inlämningskvitto - något som jag inte fått, och därmed hade jag en del problem att få ut mitt bagage. Av en slump mindes jag namnet på personen som tog emot väskan. Han hittade den inte. Tillslut visar det sig att han glölmt ställa in den i rätt rum och att den står kvar i receptionen. Amatörer. Positiva saker med hotellet: Läget rent geogratiskt är bra, det ligger centralt. Maten är riktigt bra också men rätt dyr. Får man ett rum med fönster mot shoppinggatan är det även tyst på nätterna. The rooms where very nice and it was close to the Bulls shopping center, but the noice from outside was terrible. The New street train station is located right outside so if you need to sleep at night bring some airplugs! In addition is was impossible for the taxi driver to find the hotel, because of its location, so I had to find the hotel by foot […] behind the strainstation. The local taxi driver that picked me up in the morning said that this was a known prblem with this hotel. Læs mere
