I'd recommen the Scotsman hotel at any time, very friendly staff, unbeatable location, good restaurant. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

Hotellet ligger midt inde i byen mellem den nye og gamle bydel, så der er ikke langt til seværdighederne eller butikkerne. Det er nemt at komme til og fra hotellet med lufthavnsbussen, der stopper 5 minutter derfra.

Excellent hotel, like everywhere in Scotland friendly and smiling staff - they don't pretend to be, the are! Great rooms, just wonderfull. Nice restaurant. Only complaint: They play loud music in the restaurant, like so many other places in Scotland. Whats wrong with low music or the sound of people talking?

This is a very charming hotel in an excellent location. Our room had beautiful large windows. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were even given complimentary water every day and wifi. I would recommend this hotel and I will definitely stay here when I return to edinburgh.

Incredible location at Market Street and North Bridge,One block from the Royal Mile and across the street from the Waverley Train Station and a block and a half from the # 100 Airport bus terminal(bus leaves every 10 minutes). You can easily walk to many of the Edinburgh sites. It is in an old but cool building next to a very steep hill so the layout […] is confusing. The lobby is on the 4th floor off North Bridge Street. If you are coming from the airport bus or train station there is a buzzer on Market Street on the 0 floor. They will let you in so you can take the lift up to the 4th floor. Læs mere

Picked hotel for location. Staff could not have been nicer, service is excellent. Also picked hotel so myself and daughter could go swimming but pool was FREEZING. Everyone was complaining. Room nice but mattress was so uncomfortable that I could barely sleep. Creaky old, ancient bed. For this reason, I would never stay again.

While I am the type to be a little uncomfortable with doors being opened for me, the use of my last name when being addressed, and having towels only used once, this level of service was performed with style and grace such that you felt they were genuine and sincere. Dreadful! Heavy base-pounding techno "disco" music permeated our room until 3:00 am, allowing us no sleep. All staff, including the general manager, deny the existence of this loud, pounding music, despite two Edinburgh police constables confirming a nightclub is situated on the ground floor of the hotel building. The staff refer to the pounding music […] as "city noise". In addition, the hotel's housekeeping staff appeared to be either slow or understaffed. We were unable to enjoy an afternoon nap at the Scotsman after being out for over four hours since our room was not made up until close to 4:00 pm. Really disappointed in this hotel. Læs mere

We decided at the last minute to take the kids to Edinburgh for a couple of days. What a good decision it was and to book the Scotsman. Quirky but excellent rooms, check in took all of 60 seconds. In a superb location and terrific views from the excellently presented rooms. We asked for a double and a twin near each other and considering this was last […] minute, the hotel arranged this for us. Whilst the pool is not Olympic size it is more than adequate plus the steam room and sauna are a bonus. ALL staff, whatever their position were extremely polite, helpful & friendly. We have just stayed at the Scotsman for the fourth time and, once again, have had a wonderful stay. The whole hotel ouzes charm and character and the staff are, on the whole, welcoming, competent and helpful. Every room is completely different, with change of view, layout, amenities, but all with great atmosphere and character. Silly little niggle, […] this time there was a lack of both pen and notepad in our room, an oversight that shouldn't occur in an hotel of this calibre. The location is brilliant for walking to almost anywhere in the city and the public car parking charges are reduced by the hotel (pity that the spaces closer to the hotel are no longer available, it makes for more of a hike!). Breakfast is terrific, and the North Bridge Brasserie, within the hotel, looks good for other meals, we have only had tea there. Læs mere

A lovely old hotel with charm. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. The gym was a little difficult to locate. . . Could use better directions or signage.

The hotel surpassed our expectations.Accommodation was excellent and food was exceptional but what made our visit so wonderful was the service and courtesy we received from the staff both in the restaurant and at reception.A special thank you to Emma who was so helpful and thoughtful .Will return hopefully soon.

Great location and lovely hotel. Stayed in room 306. Right under the restaurant and next door to the kitchen. Noise all evening and in the morning. Ridiculous.

It was our second time staying at the Scotsman and this time we were in Edinburgh to be married. Although we didn't make a big deal of the event to the staff, they immediately upgraded our room, provided complementary champagne (on top of the complementary whisky already there) and on the evening after the ceremony they left a bottle of champagne and […] rose petals all over the bed. The staff were all excellent and our bags were even carried all the way onto the train for us! The hotel is spacious and impressive; our room had many original features, which meant the plumbing was a bit elderly, but we had a fabulous view of the Scott Monument from our huge window. The final exciting moment of the stay was to see JK Rowling having breakfast at the table next to ours :) Læs mere

A very great start to our stay as when we checked in we got a free upgrade to a deluxe room as we mentioned out stay was for a speacial occasion it was a special occasion:) Can't fault the hotel, the complimentary whiskey in the room is a great touch too. We made use of the pool and sauna/jacuzzi which was great after a long day of walking in the […] cold!!!! Excellent staff and location. Rooms were well appointed and roomy. Only issue we encountered was the temperature of the room (too hot...couldn't get it low enough to comfortably sleep).

The attention to detail for the 5star hotel is falling short due to some foreign staff with their English, we booked Christmas Lunch for £178 was poor , Should have been proper Turkey meat rather than processed rolled version for this price. We were treated very well at the Judd Hotel. The room was beautiful, the service exquisite. It was very well located, just above the train station, on the Royal Mile.

Third visit to this hotel at this time of year. Location is ideal for shopping, visiting tourist attractions and restaurants. Staff as always, very courteous and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to other visitors to Edinburgh. Only downfall on this occasion was the bed which although comfortable, was a zip and link kingsize and where the beds joined, […] there was a dip as sitting at different levels which made it quite uncomfortable if you moved to centre of bed. Fantastic location with breathtaking views of Edinburgh. The art throughout the hotel and stair case is worth exploring. Concierge staff very helpful although reception staff failed to tell me that I could get free wi-fi in the room. The room decor is getting a little tired, but otherwise very comfortable. The Scotsman was great! Customer service was awesome. They show you to your room and orient you and expect nothing in return. Location was perfect and was able to get to everywhere from there. Had a great time and hotel room views is amazing. Thank you to the Scotsman staff for the great service!

Wonderful, historically quaint hotel, very centrally located to the Royal Mile and Castle, the rail station, and shops/restaurants of Edinburgh. Can walk to everything! Very nice attached restaurant, with great breakfasts. Staff very accomodating, kind. I really enjoyed my visit and would hightly recommend The Scotsman to others. sjm

This is a beautiful hotel and in the best possible location for seeing Edinburgh. All of this, however, is obvious from a glance at the hotel's website. What the pictures can't show you, however, is the quality of the service. On our first morning a fixture in the bath tub failed, requiring an extensive plumbing repair and rendering the room unusable. […] Unfortunately we couldn't move to another room as the hotel was fully booked. Instead, the resourceful staff moved us to a beautiful room at the Caledonia, with full breakfast, and provided a taxi service for us. When we returned to the Scotsman the next night, they upgraded us to the Penthouse suite (an astonishing set of rooms with a near-panoramic view of the city), with a complimentary bottle of scotch. We were greeted warmly by staff whenever we went out or returned. Everyone was fully briefed about the arrangements that were made (at both Scotsman and Caldeonia) and thihgs could not have been made easier for us. I wouldn't even think about staying anywhere else. Absolutely central location across from train station and around corner from shuttle bus to airport which is great bargain. Everything is within short walking distance. Very nice inside and good restaurant for breakfast.

We had a warm welcome from reception staff who took our bags to the room. Great location and lovely swimming pool. My only criticism would be that there was a damp smell within the hotel, though not in our room. Overall a wonderful stay.

An amazing weekend. The staff here were very, very impressive. Really knowledge about even the smallest of details - like which number bus to catch and how much it would cost etc. I found everyone I had contact with to be incredibly polite, approachable and friendly. I would stay here again purely based on the service I received. Of course the fact […] it is so close to Waverly Station / the Airlink bus stop / Princess Street and the start of the Royal Mile all add to the overall positive experience.
