Clean, spacious upgraded room.Good basic ammenities. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill but frequent bus service if required. Free car parking.

A most wonderful luxurious experience. Lovely comfortable standard room with loads of space. The bathroom had underfloor heating.

Hotel appears "tired" and in need of some updating. It is a bit of a walking trek up the hill out of town, but convenient for bus services.

I would give the hotel 3* its a shame the hotel must have been fantastic in its day. We upgraded our room improvements had been made but i would have sacked the workmen the jobs they did were shoddy shame! The staff were good. enjoyed our evening meal breakfast was mediocre. we didnt mind we were using a groupon voucher. we walked into town very convenient. […] wish they would spend some money on the deco and finish. could be an excellent place to stay. The lift was horrendous hated it. I would stay again as I could overlook the faults as the hotel was clean and for Bath the price was excellent. Læs mere

Hotel looked and was quite dated but that does'nt make it a bad place to stay, in fact for the money we paid it was very reasonable for this time of the year. Staff were very friendly and helpful so all in all we were happy with our stay and would recommend it to others.

The staff was polite and accommodating. We didn;t get a family room, but they were fantastic about meeting our needs and brought a roll away bed for our son.

We had three rooms booked for a family wedding and staff went out of their way to make sure we were looked after - they helped with luggage, offered vases for flowers and all over the hotel every member greeted us politely. It was a very comfortable stay.

The restaurant felt like it was run by a catering company rather than a chef, and the food was plain,'homely' and 'no frills', but plenty of it.The hotel corridors and stairs are in need of decoration and it is like a rabbit warren. It is up a long steep hill from the shopping centre 15 mins walk down and 20 back up, not for the elderly of whom there were many staying. Good value and close to the city centre. Accommodation spacious and clean, although the breakfast was not brilliant!

very happy with the room as it looked recently refurbished. Room was very hot but as you could open the windows got it to a good level quickly. Breakfast was pretty basic although what you got was good it left you looking forward to a mid morning snack.

Not bad just a bit naff. No toothpaste in the bathroom either. If I had to stay here again I wouldn't mind but I'd rather try somewhere new.

Location was further than expected,.Although we had a lovely large spacious room we thought the hotel was a little tired and in need of updating.

The public areas do have a bit of a dated feel but that's more the style of the property than anything else. The rooms are a decent size, quiet, clean and comfortable. A couple of things missing like water, a mini bar and a safe but you get free wi-fi through The Cloud and free parking too. Good value for sure. The staff were friendly and the morning […] service was very attentive in the busy breakfast room. The only downside I guess is the location at the top of a steep hill but it's only 2 minutes in a cab from the centre of bath if you don't fancy the walk. Læs mere

Having practically lived in this hotel on business some 30 years ago it was nice to return. Although under new ownership it seemed that little had changed. It was clean but a little tired in places however, it is an old building so maintenance / updating needs to be continuous. Lovely hotel, only 5 minutes walk downhill to the town and a £4.00 taxi back. Yes the hotel does need updating but it was clean and the fact that it needs updating did not put us off. We would definitely return back to this hotel and the fact that it had a car park is an added bonus. This hotel is at the tip top of a very curvey road in Bath, but fortunately our GPS got us there. The parking lot has a locked door with a sign telling you to walk around the building to get in, but there is actually a buzzer and camera so the lobby can buzz you in. We were frazzled, having had a 330 am wakeup call to get an early morning flight, so […] we just wanted a quick bite before we crashed for the night. There were no other restaurants or shops within walking distance, and the dining room didn't open for an hour. We really didn't want to move the car out of the tiny parking spot we had manuevered it into. Also, we didn't want to do a full, white linen dinner meal. The desk clerk first told us the dining room was the only option, but we could wait in the bar until the restaurant opened. I asked if the bar served food and he said no. We asked if they had room service and he said no. Then he said maybe but for 10 pounds extra. Finally he said we could order off the daytime menu and eat in the lobby. I asked if we could eat in the bar, and he said no, we'd have to sit in the reception area by the main desk. Finally we went into the bar and asked the bartender if we could eat in there and he said "of course." Very frustrating at the end of a long day. To top it off, the door to the carpark wouldn't open, so we had to drag our bags through the hotel even though our car was 10 feet from our room! Læs mere

Enjoyed our stay. Our room rate included dinner/bed and breakfast for one night. Getting to and from our room with heavy suitcases from the rear car park was a bit taxing with lots of doors and stairs. One of the corridors was a bit smelly and the carpet could have done with a good steam clean but otherwise our room and the hotel in general was clean […] and tidy. Dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning were both pretty good and plentiful. Convenient location, the walk into Bath centre was easy...coming back up the hill got the blood pumping. The staff, the cleaning and in general the hotel was OK. I think it is a bit too expensive for the overall that offers you; the building is very old, breakfast is not great and also the position, if you don't have a car is not the best of comfort. Bathroom was very nice and new though!

A traditional hotel with lots of character. In need of a little TLC in terms of redecoration and new carpets. A bit worn and tired looking. The food was nothing special. I was a member of a party of 30 and some of the food was served cold. Otherwise nice walk down to the town centre of Bath but a climb up the hill on the way back/
