"Hotel Citadines i Kyoto- Høj kvalitet til prisen"Anmeldt af Jens B. fra "København" den 14. nov 2011
I forhold til prisniveauet i Japan får man virkelig mrget for pengene. Stort godt udstyret værelse med rigtig gode senge. Personalet helt i top.

"Great Hotel, but little out of the way"
I stayed at the Japanese room. The mattress and pillows allowed me a great night's sleep. The service was great, though the hotel is a bit far from all the action in Gion Traditional Market or downtown. The main reason why I rated the overall rating as only '3' was that after reaching the airport for departure, I realized that the two luggage straps […] I had to strap smaller bags to my larger bags were missing, which I assume was due to mishandling. I understand how this could have happened with access to the Japanese room requiring carrying my heavy luggage without the assistance of an elevator. I really don't blame the staff, I blame the hotel that does not have easier access to the Japanese rooms. Læs mere

"The Westin Miyako Kyoto- No WiFi in room"
There was no WiFi in the room. You can see a lot of hotel guests sitting at the lobby and trying to download emails during night time.
"The Westin Miyako Kyoto"
We booked for Japanese Kasuen room. It was fun. The room was old but clean. The surrounding area was very beautiful, and it's only 3 minutes from the station. It also provides shuttle bus to & from Kyoto station every half an hour which is convenient. The only downside was the Japanese room we had was old. The corridors were very cold, and it has lots […] of stairs. They were about 5 steps each so no elevators or lift to the room. We struggled to carry our big luggages to our room. The bathroom was very cold as it has open drainage, and the shower head was old fashion. The toilet had no exhaust fan so.. good luck. The light in our room was white fluorescent covered in Japanese paper lamp, which I didn't particularly like. It reminds me of office/hospital/grocery store than a hotel room. There was no WiFi in the room which was inconvenient. We had to go to the lobby for WiFi access. If you can't afford to stay in ryokan for many nights and you wish to stay in Japanese room with a budget, this is a good option. For a Japanese room, the price is reasonably cheap. Though the room and the furniture were old, the room itself was big for Japanese standard. The Japanese bedding (futon and buckwheat pillow) were great as promised. The garden surrounding the Japanese building was very beautiful. It has access to walk to the nice lookouts up the hill in the area. Overall it was good for what it costs. Læs mere
"Westin Miyako-home away from home"
Miyako is extremely comfortable and well located. In my previous visits to Kyoto, I have rented an apartment in Gion- although I enjoyed the Miyako, I will do the apartment option if and when I return to Japan. This is because the restaurants are far too expensive - and we were there for 10 days, so self-catering is the best way to eat economically. […] Staff were always helpful and obliging, and the shuttle bus is a great service. Good coffee maker in the room, too. Læs mere

"Better than expected"
As other reviewers have pointed out, the hotel is on the "outskirts." What they don't say is that the outskirts aren't so far away. The hotel shuttle and the very close subway solve all problems. Kyoto is not Tokyo. Also, there are lots of taxis and, although not dirt cheap, not prohibitively expensive. Yes, restaurant meals and buffet breakfast are […] expensive. You get what you pay for. My husband and I upgraded to Executive Club knowing that we were going to pay for the breakfast buffet anyway. We got a fabulous upgraded room, access to Executive Club cocktail hour. This also gave us Wi-Fi access in the Executive Lounge. Otherwise available only in lobby . That's my only gripe. I travel with an iPad and require Wifi for connection. Even if I were willing to pay for daily internet access in my room (I might have), I had no technological way to access their hard-wired ridiculously expensive option. Seems like a silly hold-out policy in an otherwise gracious and wonderful hotel. Shuttle - if you arrive at train station, head for ground floor West (Hachijo) exit. Shuttle is across from Harves store. There is an information station near there. A gracious English-speaking lady walked us out and pointed. It is not as hard as others say. Do not panic. Læs mere
"Classy and comfortable"
It was a very comfortable stay in this hotel, service was also good. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Kyoto station and to Sanjo keihan station. The downside is the location. Many times I had to take a very long walk around 30-40mins walk from sanjo keihan, the place where there are more stuff to see. Overall, quite a good place to stay […] for the price. Læs mere
"Great Kyoto Hotel"
The Westin Miyako is a great hotel. I'll start with the only two cons I have... 1) The bed is really hard. But, my husband and I stayed in a queen size room and the bed was closer to a King. I will take the firm mattress to not have to sleep in a twin bed Japanese style. 2) The hotel restaurants are WAY overpriced. It's not worth eating at the hotel. […] To include the breakfast buffet. Save yourself the money, and go to Starbucks. The food isn't that good and the prices are outrageous. Now, the pros: 1)The customer service is great! They definitely know how to make their customers feel welcome and happy to be at the hotel. 2) They have a free shuttle from Kyoto Station to the hotel that stops at another train station and Gion. This saved us a ton on taxis. Plus, it runs all day! 3) It's close to lots of great sightseeing locations to include Gion and Kiyumizudera. The Westin Miyako was amazing! I highly recommend this hotel! Læs mere
"Great Stay in Kyoto!"
The location of the Westin Miyako is lovely. It's just far away enough to enjoy the soothing spirit of the area but close enough to walk to several of the great paths of interest throughout Kyoto. There is also a convenient Metro stop nearby that helps to get to the outlying areas and shrines. Staff was very helpful and spoke great English, which made […] things very comfortable for us traveling Americans. Would definitely recommend it for a stay if you don't mind a little walking - the Gion district is about 20 minutes away. Læs mere
"Westin Miyako - Testament to Japanese Service"
Business stay, executive class. Included large Western / Japanese breakfast buffet. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to ensure your stay was pleasant. The large grounds of the hotel itself are a pleasure to take in. The hotel itself is located amidst the temples spanning the eastern edge of the city. But it is no trouble at all to […] get to downtown as the closest subway station in right beside the hotel. I would recommend the hotel for business or personal travel. Læs mere
"Best hotel in Kyoto"
Cannot say enough how much we enjoyed stay and how well we were treated. They have a free shuttle bus to town or tube stop next to hotel
"The Westin Miyako Kyoto - a Kyoto gem"
Rooms with Balconies are great. Ours was spacious comfortable and the bathroom great. Location is close to subway and walking distance to old quaint parts of town.
"Nice location, nice hotel"
Loved the hotel, really nice location and extremely professional staff. Only downsides were pricey restaurants and a bit distant location. On the other hand, the bit distant location allows for peaceful surroundings and beautiful views from the hotel.
"Nice hotel. Great view over kyoto"
Nice hotel. Nice room, very comfy. Away from the busyness of central Kyoto. Some great views of the hills surrounding the city. We enjoyed our stay. On the downside, no wifi access in the rooms and the bar is pretty bland.
"Westin Miyako, Kyoto, Japan"
We opted for the Japanese style rooms and were happy with our choice. These rooms are set at the back of the hotel and require a short walk outdoors to reach them. But they give a give a good experience of Japanese rooms in a modern Western hotel. The futons are removed during the day and laid out in the evening, making it hard to nap during the day […] should you want to. The bathroom also allows you to experience Japanese bathing style. There is a nice short walk up the hill just adjacent to this block with beautiful views (bird watching trail). Rooms were clean, service was excellent, and we had a good deal on Hotels.com. Overall very happy. Læs mere
"Westin Miyako in Kyoto"
Really lovely hotel, near the Philosopher's Walk and several temples/shrines in Kyoto. Room service wonderful. However, restaurants way too expensive; I never ate in one. Would recommend this to anyone going to Kyoto, especially if they found a good deal on hotels.com, as I did.
"Tired outdated rooms"
We booked this hotel for 2 nights during our honeymoon expecting a Westin hotel to be of a high standard. The common areas were clean and modern but the bedrooms were tired and in need of refurbishment. The bedroom and the bathroom were both very cramped, and the bath tub was cracked and peeling around the plug hole. The room was very hot and the air […] conditioning was very basic and insufficient, even for a moderately warm October day. It was good to have windows which opened though. The hotel is right on the edge of town and although there is a subway stop just underneath the hotel other hotels offer a much more convenient location. Overall I don't think the hotel lives up to expectations and wouldn't recommend. Læs mere

"Best place in town"
When we mentioned to local people that we met that we were staying at the Westin, everyone said that they thought it was the best place in town. There is no doubt that this is a well run hotel. The quality of the rooms and the facilities offered are of an outstanding quality. The service provided by the staff was friendly and professional throughout […] our stay right from the welcome we received getting out of the taxi until saying goodbye at the railway station. We wondered whether the location would be a problem, as it appears to be out of town. In fact it is ideally situated - try the lovely walks recommended by the hotel, use the free shuttle bus, or use the nearby public transport. Læs mere

"Westin Kyoto - worth considering"
Chose the Westin Miyako Kyoto for a business trip and got a great deal on hotels.com. While not centrally located in the city, the hotel in very close to the subway (very easy to use and safe) and runs a shuttle into the city for free. "Westin Kyoto - away from the city"
Overall the hotel is ok. Having stayed in many 5 stars hotel, we were disappointed with the hotel's condition. It's a bit old for us and not up to the 5 star hotel standard that we saw online. Online, they pictured themselves to be beautiful by the hills but they are nothing like the photos posted online. The staffs are generally very polite but I don't […] like the concierge's "know everything" intimidating and impatient look. "Nice but maybe not worth the pricetag..."
This hotel had the biggest bed we have ever seen!! So insanely comfortable, their heavenly bed truly is! It is in a really nice part of Kyoto, out of the main drag but near the Philosophers Walk and Heian Shrine as well as walking distance to Gion district (although the complimentary bus and local subway station are also great). We really enjoyed our […] stay here, the staff were really nice and helpful. However, this was our third hotel in Japan and while the most expensive, was definitely not our favourite. One of the most disappointing part of this was that you had to pay to use the amenities. Internet access was charged whereas every other hotel provided free room access, you had to pay to use the pool (which while the outdoor pool is beautiful it wasn't anything spectacular) and there was no way we could eat at the onsite restaurants as they are extremely expensive (about 10 times what we normally paid for family meals for a single meal). Nice hotel but perhaps there are better places to stay for the money. Læs mere

"Westin Miyako Kyoto - A wonderful experience"
Everything about this hotel is to die for. You pay well under standard 4-star accomdation rates but you still receive impeccable service and spacious, modern rooms. At this hotel you are treated like royalty. Let's talk about location first. The nearest subway station (Keage Station) is less than 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Unfortunately […] a JR Rail Pass is not valid at such subway stations but holders of one will be pleased to know that the subways are quite cheap, usually not exceeding 300 yen for a ticket. In this regard, practically the entire city of Kyoto is well within comfortable reach. If you are unsure exactly where the station is or what train to catch, the friendly, english-speaking staff at the hotel will be more than happy to provide you with a bountiful supply of information to help, including offering a free rail map to take with you. On that note, I will reiterate how pleasant the staff are. It doesn't matter what your request or query is they will go above and beyond in assisting you. Just small niceties such as a warm-hearted greeting when you pass one of them is entirely common here. Not much more to say; if you want something, you've got it as far as the staff here are concerned. Now we get to the truly blissful part - the rooms. After staying at relatively modest (I.E. small) rooms during my trip across Japan I was amazed at the size of my living space. You are provided with a huge, modern T.V., a bed that in every way lives up to its "heavenly" name, a fully stocked mini-bar, complete air-condition control, a clean and modern bathroom and plentiful closet and storage space to name a few. In short, picky or not I am confident you'll fall in love with your room should you choose to stay here. One thing I will mention is the hotels shuttle bus service. It took me a while to work out where the pick-up point was. Most other major hotels pick you up from right outside the station at the Hachijo exit. The Miyako shuttle bus picks you Læs mere

I could not say more about how much I enjoyed staying at the Westin Mikayo Kyoto. The service was absolutely impeccable. "Westin Miyako is the perfect getaway in Kyoto"
My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon to Japan. In Kyoto we were looking for a hotel that was out of the middle of the city but close to sights, an a great place get away from it all and relax. They definately delivered. When we arrived we decided we wanted a nicer rom than we booked, and the front desk staff was amazing. They worked with […] us to fnid exactly what we would love, and gave us a package that included extras like breakfast and club lounge access. When I told them we were on our honeymoon they even gave us a bit of a break and made a cake for us! I was totally blown away by how much the staff at the Westin Miyako Kyoto went out of their way to go above and beyond in every respect. The food in their breakfast buffett was great every day, and they have a great take on hard boiled eggs you'll have to try. Our room was perfect. Clean, good size with plenty of room, and a balcony that overlooked he mountain side. The hotel is walking distance from a few amazing Temples and Shrines, notably Heian shrine which has the most beautiful gardens! Also Chion-in temple was just a spectacular sight to visit, and a must see. A bit farther of a very scenic walk down streets filled with nice shops is the famous Kiyomizu-dera temple which is built hanging off the side of a large hill. Overall a great experience and hope to go again soon. Thank you Wesint Miyako Kyoto for an unforgettable honeymoon. Læs mere

"Westin Miyako Hotel in Kyoto, Japan"
I was very satisfied with the hotel and its staff. The room was superb. Particularly important was the level of service. The staff made a great effort to meet my needs and requests in a prompt, courteous manner. Also, the hotel is conveniently located and provides a shuttle to Kyoto Station, the main bus/railway hub of the city.

"The Westin Miyako: Kyoto's historic jewel"
The hotel was celebrating its120 year anniversary in Kyoto. Located in the western hills overlooking Kyoto this hotel was the perfect mix of heritage architecture, beautiful gardens and modern facilities/amenities. Our room was spacious and clean with all the modern conveniences. The fitness centre had a beautiful indoor lap pool, gym, spa and sauna. […] The Executive Club coffee and cocktail lounge was well stocked and very enjoyable. The buffet breakfast was delicious with both western and Japanese foods to choose from. The hotel is located in the quiet and beautiful western foothills with a spectacular view of Kyoto. It's central to many famous temples and shrines and near iconic Gion. The shuttle bus (every 30 minutes) was very convenient to transportation centres which gave easy access to buses or trains to visit other sights. Numerous restaurants were in the area. Our stay was made even more enjoyable by the excellent staff: extremely helpful and knowledgeable, very pleasant and fluent in English. Læs mere
"Nice place if you get a good deal"
The superior rooms we booked were ok but nothing special. Strangely, while there is a fabulous view of the city from the corridor on the way to our rooms, the rooms themselves overlook a run-down garden and fountain at the back. Westin Miyako while not located in the centre of the Kyoto downtown area presents no access problems. It is adjacent to a […] subway station and is within 20 minute walk of the river. The hotel facilities (restaurants and bars) are way out of reach of the purse of most travellers but for breakfast there are some friendly Japanese run coffee shops within a 5 minute walk. We would recommend eating dinner in the city rather than in the hotel. Læs mere

"Convenient location"
The Westin Miyako isn't right in the thick of it, but it's a stone's throw from a subway stop and about a twenty-minute walk to Gion. Overall, a great place to stay.
"The Westin in Keage Kyoto- great location"
We were pleasantly surprized by this hotel and compared to other hotels in Japan the Westin was excellent value and the quality of the service was unbeatable. All of the staff were friendly and showed an excellent grasp of English which is often missing in other hotels. The free shuttle bus back and forth from the station was a very convenient service. […] The hotel is in a great location close to all the major temples and gardens, and you can walk to most sites. We were upgraded to a renovated room so the bathroom was well sized, the bed was comfortable and roomy. The walk to the room passed some fairly old furniture which I would remove. The outside of the hotel is old and dated however they are gradually making changes. This should not influence your opinion as the interior is nice and the quality of the staff make up for this.We only had one meal at the hotel which was excellent although pricey, and you can find better meals close to the hotel that are much better on price and atmosphere. We did have a couple of cocktails in the bar upstairs which looks out across Kyoto and the standard was top notch - in fact my husband said it was one of the best martini's he has ever drunk. However again the drinks were overpriced. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and other travellers. Læs mere

"If you're headed to Kyoto, book a room here!"
The Westin Miyako has got to be the best western-style hotel in Kyoto. Although it's not as sparkly as the Hyatt Regency, it's a much better value, and the surrounding neighborhood is much prettier and quieter (and much less annoyingly tourist-oriented). Really, this hotel's location in the Higashiyama district is key, and you won't be disappointed […] with the interior or the service, either. The bathrooms in are especially amazing, and the beds are quite comfortable as well. One thing that did annoy me was that I had to pay a surprisingly high daily rate for access to the internet, but I don't suppose most people visiting Kyoto will really want to waste time on the internet.
