Caledonian Hilton - Edinburgh

What a beautiful hotel and so elegant. The room was fantastic and the breakfast substantial. The staff were so friendly, professional and helpful.

The hotel, staff, room, breakfasts, car parking and general service where of the highest standards. HOWEVER Stg15 per day to check your emails!!!! I don't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a stupid way to spoil an otherwise outstanding experience.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend and I can not priase the hotel enough. The room was spacious, full of character and ultra clean, staff really helpful and friendly without that "in your face" intimidating approach, the breakfast was superb and the location on Princes Street could not be bettered. A wonderful hotel - stay here if you can

The hotel looked lovely from the outside and we were on the side of the hotel which faces the castle, unfortunately our room was at the back so we had a view of the car park. We were fine with this as we were only booked for a standard room. The issue with the room was that whilst it was standard we booked this as a 5* hotel and our room really didn't […] meet expectations. There was a small, plug in electric heater and no other heating so the room felt cold, fortunately it wasn't too cold during our visit, if it had been mid winter I would have complained. Also the room was tiny with hardly any space around the bed. It felt like we were given a lower quality of room because we had booked through this website and paid half price. It was disappointing as I can't see us going there again, I wouldn't pay full price and risk such a small, cold room again. The hotel is very conveniently located at the western end of Princes Street. and is near to all the sights. The public areas are very plush. Our standard room had recently been refurbished and was very comfortable and well equiped. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The Caledonian Hotel is in a great location in Edinburgh, it is very clean and the staff are very helpful. The only issue I had was that the Bedroom doors were spring loaded and this caused them to bang everytime someone closed one, very noisy as a result and it was hard to sleep.

We stayed here for our anniversary, following a fab deal. Hotel is lovely, standard rooms are comfortable and clean. Not much room in mini bar for bottles etc but one call to room service and we got a bucket of ice for our champagne. Leisure facilities are a bit disappointing, jacuzzi had no bubbles and as it was during the week, the small swimming […] pool was even smaller due to children's swimming lessons. Sauna/steam room were adequate. Changing rooms are small and a bit tired. Breakfast is outstanding, everything you could want and nothing too much trouble. The self service buffet was well stocked and freshly cooked. Certainly sets you up for the day. On our last day, concierge took our cases and kept them for as long as we needed, which was ideal as we wanted to explore some more. The Caledonian hotel was perfectly situated to explore Edinburgh for a few days with all the main sights within a comfortable walking distance. All staff were friendly and helpful and our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff. Check in staff provided us with a room upon our arrival at 11am. Nice bar area. Room was spacious but bathroom not 5* and more 3*. Breakfast was buffet and excellent selection. Overall an enjoyable stay and very convenient location.

A beautiful hotel with the friendliest, most helpful staff we've encountered. The breakfasts were fabulous and the beds super comfortable! The rooms are lovely and very quiet. The Caledonian is located central to everything one would want to see with the Edinburgh Castle on top of the hill. Room was not 5 star, we booked the best deal we could but still expected 5 star, but it wasn't. Issues with room, especially bathroom and some items on breakfast were cold. A busy hotel at the busiest time of the year, the Edinburgh festival and Military Tattoo. The location was perfect for what we wanted,and absolutely central and within easy walking distance of all for all the places that we wanted to visit. The hotel car park was a bonus, being next to the hotel. Unlike so many London Hotels who " have an arrangement" […] with NCP half a mile away. All public rooms in the hotel are spacious and very comforable. Our bedroom was massive, clean and very well appointed. The air conditioning was in our controll and most effective. I didn't make use of the mini bar, nor the pay movies, which were available. The staff where more than friendly, they where friends. We ate in the resturant of an evening and I was surprised at the service and quality of food and at such a reasonable price, pub prices for a top quality venue. My two daughters booked this hotel for my wife and myself as last years Christmas present, together with tickests for the Military Tattoo. What a fantastic present. Overall great stay and the concierge team were particularly helpful...oh and the restaurant team for the breakfasts were brill! Pool was lovely to dip in and the gym was good to use! Was a bit disapointed receiving a bill for water that we hadn't taken from fridge and then lady on desk wasn't clear when I asked her about it....we then asked again […] about it and were told we hadn't been charged and that we hadn't received the bill....I still have it as proof! So maybe a bit clearer with the communication about the fridge...if you move things what happens and then clear when explaining about it to us...it was only £2.80 at the end of the day but frustrating to feel like that as it was the principle! Excellent Service throughout the hotel. All members of staff were friendly and helpful. Extremely comfortable stay in a beautiful hotel. Can't get more central, and if you're lucky - as we were - you get a view of Edinburgh castle from your room!

This is an expensive hotel but our room was tiny with a chipped small oldfashioned wardrobe which could not take a woman's dress. The shower was cool and the pressure low. A superb hotel with a well furnished comfortable room and excellent service. The breakfast had a wide choice, although wasn't as good as other hotels with similar ratings.

We were a party of 7 & they made sure our rooms were next door to each other. The staff were outstanding- efficient, polite & helpful. The rooms were spotless, the food was good - both breakfast & dinner was fresh & tasty.

We got a great offer online - very reasonable price. We really enjoyed our stay, staff were polite and helpful, good variety for breakfast, the whiskey bar is very relaxing for a drink in the evening and the location is great.

Lovely hotel very grand in the centre of Edinburgh. A lot of street noise during the night as we stayed over a weekend. Staff were very helpful,polite and could not do enough for you. Bring your credit card as it is not a bargain stay.

Flott hotell med ypperlig beliggenhet rett under Edinburgh Castle. Gangavstand til de fleste severdigheter. Det pågikk en del gravearbeid i gaten utenfor, men det hadde ingenting å si for oppholdet på hotellet og er sikkert uansett ferdig snart. Rene og pene rom og hyggelig personale. Ingenting å utsette på hotellet.

Ligging kan niet beter en de service is perfect. Ontbijt was top en met de feestdagen ook zeer relaxte tijden (nieuwjaarsdag zelfs tot 14.00 uur). Kamer was top!

Vill varmt rekommendera detta hotell till de som vill uppleva lite lyx i gammal miljö på sin resa. Fantastisk utsikt över Edinburgh Castle och andra delar av staden.

I found the service in the hotel damn near perfect. Nice people, friendly and helpful. I did not like the look of the hotel. Walking to my room I noticed the carpets are rugged and worn down, the paint is faded, the wallpaper is not only faded, but very old school. Sort of like "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson. Anyways, the breakfast buffet. It was […] gorgeous, beautiful, well cooked. The breakfast alone was worth the stay. We had some problem with noise in the corridor outside our room. We had read that the rooms were soundproofed, but that doesn't add to the door. So the door and possibly the bathroom are the weak links in the soundproofing. Over all, the hotel is nice. It's very close to both parks and shopping, and the castle is about a 20 minute walk away. The buses to and from the airport stops only a five minute walk from the hotel entrance. The pool area was rather small, but functional. A jacuzzi and a regular swimmingpool with a depth of about 4 ft. (120cm). Length of the pool was about 20 yards (or 65 ft, 20 meters). Very nice to relax after a long day of walking but not much for children. Conclusion: This hotel is one that dates back a long time. It is in need of restoration when it comes to common areas, but the rooms are nice and rather modern, although ours was quite small. Nice and helpful hotel staff, lovely breakfast buffet, and the diningroom on the groundfloor is well kept. Pool area serves its purpose, but could be more inviting for families. And last but not least, the soundproofing of the rooms doesn't matter if the doors are made of papier maché. We had a pleasant stay, I will recommend this hotel to others, but perhaps give them a little more info than the Hilton website can offer. Læs mere

Hotellet är stort och man kan behöva gå en stund om man har sitt rum långt ifrån hissen. Mycket bra standard på rummen, särskilt med brittiska mått mätt. Personalen är trevlig och tillmötesgående. Internetuppkopplingen är långsam och dyr.

Internet borde vara gratis Roomservice funkade inte så bra

Otroligt vänlig o hjälpsam pesonal från receptionen till resturangpesonalen.Vi hade 2 rum med utsikt mot slottet, som var fina men små till ytan.Vi trodde att vi hade bokat ett deluxe rum, men det var 2 st. plus rum istället.Annars var allt topen o Caledonian hotell kan vi verkligen rekommendera till andra.Passar både barnfamiljer och äldre. Overnattet 5 netter på Hilton Edinburgh Caledonian. Hotellets beliggenhet er glimrende for de som ønsker en by-ferie med Edinburgh sitt mangfoldige tilbud. Hotellet er et godt utgangspunkt for de som ønsker å reise rundt å spille golf. Det finnes massevis av flotte golfbaner innenfor 30 min. kjøring. Vi brukte knapt 1, 5 timer til St. Andrews og rundt […] 45 min til North Berwich.
