Ameritania at Times Square - New York

ok. toilet var i stykker. de lovede at lave d samme aften som vi gik ud, men d var ikke lavet da vi kom tilbage og håndværkeren måtte igang mens vi sad på værelset og ventede på d blev repareret. Vi flyttede dog alligevel værelse fordi d var meget småt og lå ud til gården. Vi fik ikke helt d vi ønskede men værelset var lidt større og ud til gaden. Sengene […] r meget små for 4 mennesker, men der kan næppe være senge i den værelses størrelse. på d nye værelse var vinduet i stykker. for the inconvenience fik vi en gang morgenmad (som var absolut ringe og vi ku dog heller aldrig finde på at købe d m i NY) samt gratis wifi. Et par af dørmandene var også lidt for hustlere agtige v afgang. (har boet der før og der var d d samme. når de skaffer en transport går man som regel ud fra at de priser de oplyser holder når d nu r netop vi hotellet man gør d). Ellers var alt fint. Læs mere

De ikke renoverede værelser er forfærdelige. Air-con larmer så meget at vi ikke kunne sove med den tændt. På trods af at vi blev lovet et renoveret familie- værelse, lykkedes det ikke, og vi skiftede hotel efter 2 dage. Svamp i hjørnerne på badeværelset. Vask revnet og klinket 4 steder. En morgen var vi uden vand i et par timer, og morgenmaden (som […] ikke var billig !) blev serveret på plastic service. På grund af byggeri og meget utætte vinduer kunne vores senge lige så godt have stået på gaden, larmen var den samme. ingen nattesøvn. udover det oplevede vi mus eller andet kryb på værelset. Det kunne ses da der var gnavet et stort stykke af en plade chokolade som lå i kufferten.

Perfekt beliggenhed & Super service men under hårdt tiltrængt renovering...

Valgte hotellet primært udfra beliggenheden tæt på Central Park. Men også udfra billederne, som viste nyrenoverede værelser, flot indretning. Desværre levede værelset ikke op til billederne. Helhedindtrykket var ikke så lækkert som billederne. F.eks. var der en gammel vask på værelset som ikke fungerede og som de ligeså godt kunne have fjernet og brugt […] pladsen til skab, som helt klart manglede. Men da man ikke bruger så meget tid på værelset i NY, var det til at overleve.. Tilgengæld var dørmændene serviceminded ud over det sædvanlige og kan varmt anbefale at tale med Jeff - he´s the man! Hotellets beliggenhed er helt i top og egner sig godt til børnefamilier. Det er ikke noget luksushotel, men der var pænt og rent, og det kan fint anbefales til de der mest har behov for et sted at overnatte, og hvor hotellets beliggenhed er vigtigt. Børnene elskede badekarret.

Vores mål var at rejse billigt og med den beliggenhed hotellet har, synes jeg prisen var i orden. Værelset var lille, men da vi jo skulle se New York og ikke opholde os på hotellet hele tiden, var det ikke et problem. Indretningen er lidt 70er agtig, i brune toner, men sengen var tydeligvis af nyere dato og meget god at sove i. Badeværelset var stor […] nok og med vindue (altid en fordel). Selvfølgelig var der lyd fra gaden hele natten, da hotellet ligger på Broadway, men det hører ligesom til et ophold i New York, syntes vi. Mange ting kan nåes på gåben, såsom Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Central Park og meget mere. Metrostation med forbindelse til fx World Trade Center ligger lige på næste "street". Man bor lige ved siden af David Letterman's Late Show. Der er mange muligheder for at få mad af forskellige slags eller bare en kop kaffe på café. Eneste ulempe var vist, at vi skulle betale ekstra for at få internetadgang på værelset, da det plejer at være gratis på mange hoteller. Men alt i alt var vi tilfreds og personalet var meget venlig og behjælpsom. Læs mere

Staff was over the top helpful. Room clean and neat. Wish there was something other than a deak chair though. Not enough room power outlets.

The decor looks like a 70's pr0n film, in the room and out. My pillows were bedazzled and the lamps were pleather. I found it hilarious, but others might not. My main beef was with the hotel staff... I waited a long time to get checked in and even though my reservation was made well ahead of time, they had to scramble to find a room. Also, I accidentally […] locked myself out of my room one evening and the man at the front desk was completely unresponsive when I walked up to the desk. It seemed fine when I got to my room , then had to go the bathroom when I flushed water came out everywhere!! Called downstairs they came an "fixed"it...so I thought till I came back that night an wouldn't flush again ! Also a fuse blew in my room as I was getting ready! Took 20 min for soMeone to come up an fix the toilet an electricity . I told them […] to leave the plunger because I knew I would need again . Newly-renovated with nice staff! Room was larger than expected and very comfortable!

While this hotel is perfectly located for exploring all that NYC has to offer, many of the rooms directly face a large building under construction. At night the flood lights make your room incredibly bright, and the noise is very hard to ignore. When booking definitely clarify that you do not want a room that faces W. 54th st. Rooms are cramped. I had (2) different rooms because the first night they put me in a room with nothing over the window except plastic blinds that were too narrow by 12inches and too short by 2 feet. With a construction site across the street with very bright lights. The staff was accommodating about changing rooms, but why would you ever put someone […] in a room like that. Great hotel and amazing location. Right in the hart of broadway. Very small room but it was nice, clean, and modern.

My room was the size of a shoebox. Also -- the front desk staff talked about me while I was standing right in front of them. They almost charged my credit card twice, someone had to intervene to fix the charge. The person with my card admitted "she didn't know what she was doing" which is not a reassuring thing to say in front of a customer. this is a nice small chic hotel close to all you want to see in times square/central park area, staff was very helpful and friendly, a coffee maker in the room would have been nice but not a deal breaker, we will go back and recommend it.

The hotel is being renovated so I would assume that the management would place you in room that are not so close to the work and workers. NOT. Also, my room was on top of the air conditioner/heater compressor and very loud. Had hard time resting and sleeping. Talked to front desk but not assistance was extended to me. I stayed at this hotel about 4 years ago, then returned just last weekend. I was eager to see the newly re-modeled hotel. I loved the modern updated look! It's in a great location. Not far from Central Park or Hell's Kitchen. It's real close to my favorite brunch/lunch spot called the EATERY on 53rd and 9th AV. Enjoy!

This was a great hotel. The staff was friendly, and rooms were clean. The location is unbeatable, around the corner from The Late Show with Dave Letterman!

I was hesitant to book at this hotel b/c I read poor interviews, but I took a chance anyway...and I'm so glad I did. The room was clean, nice bathroom, flat screen TV. I would recommend using earplugs at night, but otherwise a good hotel if you get it for a discounted rate. Hotel was so close to Times Square, Theaters, 5th Ave and lots of great resturants and 4 blocks to central park. There is a subway station close by as well. The room was small and it would be hard to stay there with more than 2 people, but my husband and I were ok. Very quiet room. Staff was exceptionally helpful, we were able to check in early and had our check out time extended as well. Rooms were clean and modern. Lobby was cheerful, with a breakfast bar by day and an adult bar by night. On our last day, our bags were held for no charge while we enjoyed one last lunch in the "Big Apple" before our flight home.

The hotel has been renovated so the rooms are fresh and modern. Of course the rooms are on the small side but it is NY after all and they are fie for 2 people. Hotel is a short walk to Times Square or Columbus Circle and subway drops. Both the front desk and the bellhops were extrememly friendy and helpful.

The hotel was right in the theatre district, just two blocks from the Gershwin Theatre. Was also close to a number of great places to eat. We (2 adult, 1 child) stayed at Ameritania one night. The room was good sized esp. for NYC. Furnishings were new and very nice. Location was great in midtown. Could not beat the price. Would definatley use this spot again.

Could not imagine a better location, close to some of the major NY sites. Only a few blocks away from MOMA, a few blocks away from the bars and restaurants of Hell's Kitchen, a few blocks away from Central Park, a few blocks away from the shopping of 5th avenue, and a few blocks away from Times Square. If you're looking for a great location and price point in NY, don't look any further. I've stayed at my fair share of hotels in NY and this one is by far the best. The rooms may be a little bit small, but for the purpose of leaving your bag and sleeping, I think it's perfectly sized. It has a modern flair which is nice and not too overdone. An excellent place to stay, the room and en-suite shower was very impressive. Newly decorated and very modern and clean. I took my 13 year old daughter with me ( teenagers are hard to impress), however my daughter was thrilled. Staff were very happy to help, we had a great stay.I have already referred this hotel .

The location is great - right near the heart of Times Square. But it's down hill from there. The hotel is dirty, the rooms, despite being renovated, have old mattresses, old towels (which you may not need anyway - read on) and a smell that says "moth balls." After Checking in I went to take a shower before joining my friends at a local restaurant but […] surprise - there was no water in the hotel that night. When I called the front desk the manager snapped at me and said "there has been literature for 2 days stating that we will not have water here tonight." when I asked why it wasn't brought to my attention at check in OR when I made the reservation he simply hung up on me. Very good location close to Time Sq. Room is small but nice and clean. Overall good stay for the cost.

The hotel has been recently renovated, and the rooms are well appointed. However, I had requested a queen size bed and was not given one. They are currently building a new office tower across the street from the hotel on W. 54th and if your room faces that side of the building you WILL definitely be awakened at 7:00 am when the jack hammers and construction […] begins. Very nice boutique hotel near everything. Beautiful, comfortable bed linens. Would definitely stay there again.

The location was perfect! Step outside of the lobby and Time Square is just around the corner. The rooms are small but the price (considering you're in Times Square district ) can't be beat. We'll be back!

Took a bit of a flyer on this hotel. Got a great rate so was a little skeptical. Turned out to be a great choice. King Bed, completely remodeled room, walk-in shower, very modern decor. I would highly recommend the deluxe room for any business traveler. I was going to stay in Chelsea, but the rates and hotels there were not half as nice as this one. The staff were quite helpful and ready to take care of my needs. The bed was wonderful. I want to know the name of that mattress maker for my next bed. It was very firm while having a soft top. The only drawback is that they were doing major construction […] of 2 new skyscrapers across the street, so either ask for a side room or ask to be on a high floor to keep the noise to a minimum. doormen are kind and helpful. the room needed new windows. they had done a complete restoration-renovation of the rooms yet forgetting to put new windows. The old ones let in noise, cold air, didn't close properly. the construction there is a nightmare. ask for a back room away from the street, high above, but then you'll be waiting for minutes on end […] for the slow elevators to make it up. it was cheap. it was located perfectly. it lacked proper over-viewing management. but they did their best to make my stay pleasant. there is no better hotel I found for that price. I took my daughter to New York for her thirteenth birthday, so she could see Phantom on Broadway. We stayed at the Ameritania, and thought it was wonderful! PROS- AMAZING location close to times square, good sized room, friendly staff CONS- in the bathroom you could only have the fan and the light on at the same time, i had to shower in the dark because it was too cold with the light and fan together, NO FREE WI-FI it was $10 for 24 hours that was really UNIMPRESSIVE the middle lamp in between the beds […] did not work my mom thought that the room was quite dark Læs mere

Their computer systems are messed up. The room I booked was a two double bed. They have me a single double bed. I had a lot of time wasted in trying to have them understand this. This fault was their computer system they said and they had not other room where my children could sleep. The extra bed they gave was tiny and not in a condition that any one […] could use. Let me just start and say we are not people that expect much . We understand things can get messed up sometimes so we are understanding of mistakes but I felt like the Ameritania was not trying at all . To start we arrive at 4:30p for a 3:00 check in and our rooms were not ready along with about 5 other couples seeming quite upset that it was taking […] so long to get our rooms . After waiting till 5:00 to get our room we made our way to the really slow and stained floored elevator . Our floor had heavy fumes of paint . Our rooms were nice and clean but small ( even though a deluxe ) . After being in the room 3 minutes a random engineering worker opens and enter our room claiming "he was looking for the wi-fi" . In the morning they had a basic continental breakfast in the lobby , which we were asked for our room number . We ate in the lobby, but when we went to see the dining room there was a small sign off to the left side headed Contenental breakfast. Then below in literally fine print 10.00 per person . We got the charge taken off after complainging but i dont think most hotel guest saw the sign . Then on the way back to our room at 9:30am the housekeeper yelled down the hall what time are you checking out? You don't know what time you're checking out? This was a first for all 3 of us. The hotel is within walking distance of nearly everything you need to be by. The area is pretty safe, just be wary if you have children, we did pull up beside some shady characters. The hotel staff were all friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The room was small - duh, it's New York. But the bed was extremely comfortable. One issue we […] had was that the windows are VERY thin and there were two construction sites across from us, they would start around five in the morning every day. I would just recommend ear plugs. Otherwise, it was clean, well kept, recently renovated and safe. It was a pleasant stay, and we ended up spending the first night we arrived just in the hotel eating pizza.
