Highland Gardens Hotel - Hollywood

Hotellet ligger utrolig godt og tæt på Hollywood stjernerne, der er gratis parkering med p-kælder. Og i USA er det ik nemt at finde parkering skal man vide. Men hotellet er i dårlig stand, det mangler en Update og virker slidt.. Alle rum er meget lydt, så man kan høre sin nabo hvis de går rundt eller overboen skal tisse om natten.

Hotellets location er godt og ligger roligt, pænt og i Hollywood. lige ved alt. men ellers er hotellet i dårlig stand og værelserne er dårlige. Det eneste der er pænt er reseptionen som ser ny ud. Der er fastboende mennesker i nogle af værelserne på hotellet, og de sætter alt deres ejendele og vasketøj og planter frem.. så det ligner jo ikke hotel hvis […] man bor ved siden af sådan et værelse. Desuden er dette et HUNDE hotel, og hvis man ik syntes om at hunde der gør om natten, så er det ik her man skal bo. Der er mange unge menneser også, med fest og sprut larm.. mig om om min ven flyttede værelse 3 gange for at til sidst få et nogenlunde værelse. Læs mere

Rigtig fint hotel, hver midt i det mest kendte LAkvarter, men samtidig være lidt tilbage i ro og fred, med fin have - bemærk de har parkering med i prisen!!!

Vores ophold på Highland Gardens Hotel var ikke positivt. Det startede med at TV’et ikke virkede og efter mislykkede forsøg på at reparere det, fik vi et nyt værelse. Der var IKKE hårtørrer og kaffemaskiner på værelserne. Værelserne var meget mørke og enormt nedslidte. Servicen i receptionen, var meget dårlig. Det var vigtig for os at føle os trygge i Hollywood, og var derfor spændte på om hotellet kunne efterleve vores ønsker. Det kunne vi - selvom hotellet lå med gå afstand til boulevarden, hvilede der tryghed, fred og ro over hotellet. Det lå fantastisk og personalet var meget hjælpsomme. Findt et andet hotel. På det første værelse var der tis på lagenet !! Hotellet er faldefærdigt, så find helt sikkert noget andet i området for beliggenheden var god - ca. 500 m. til Kodak Theatre/Walk of Fame.

Dette hotel er perfekt beliggende for en vandretur i Hollywood. Tæt på alt - også de spændende udendørs koncerter i Hollywood Bowl der er i gåafstand. Hotellet har også en hyggelig poolgarden hvor man kan hygge sig. Husk at bede om et værrelse der vender ind imod haven, så får man fuldstændig ro fra trafikstøj. The front desk was great(Lobby) very "old hollywood" but the rooms were straight out of PSYCO scary but clean!

I was in town for a convention at the Hollywood & Highland center, and this place was perfect considering the cheap rates and the fact that parking and breakfast was included. It may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing or had the comfiest beds, but it was a really spacious room, and I felt that since parking was included, it was definitely […] worth the stay. It was an interesting property and colorful guests. A bit of a throw back to old Hollywood from before it was a family tourist destination. They did a great job of redecorating the lobby and the pool is cool. The rooms that are redone are interesting but the furniture leaves something to be desired. Compared to the rates being charged by the chain hotels […] on Highland Drive the rates are still reasonable. Pros - location, free parking, price is right for those on a budget. We were "upgraded" to a suite with a kitchen, dining area, living room, and separate bedroom. Rooms were not up to par. No TV in bedroom. Bed was very old and uncomfortable. Carpets were outdated and stained. Some lights were missing bulbs. No hair dryer & no iron in room. There is […] a fee to use the hotel computers. Wi-Fi did not work in room (possibly because we were given an end unit). It did appear they were making renovations, but based on my room and stay I would not recommend this hotel for more than an overnight stop to see the Hollywood attractions. Hotel is in a very convenient place for the Hollywood tourist. Free, convenient parking and charming public areas. In the guest rooms, there has been very little attention to detail when it comes to cleaning. All the most used areas are clean and well maintained, but dirt on the walls in spots, and really dirty window sills shows that cleaning is not […] a priority. There was only one lock on the room door, lending some concerns about security. The underground parking area is not well lit at night and a bit creepy. The coffee/tea service adjoining the lobby was pleasant and available 24 hours. The reception desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Like other reviewers said, great locatin, nice lobby, and then downhill from there. The beds were so bad we checked under the sheets to see if they were just stuffed with newspaper, because that's what it felt like. Tiny tiny shower.

Great location for Hollywood and Highland area to walk to. Provided continental breakfast and coffee/tea anytime. Very friendly and helpful at desk. Parking is free and little kitchen.

The hotel was well located & despite the higher rate for New Year, parking was included. We stayed in a further hotel in Hollywood a couple of months ago & the valet parking alone was $30 plus tips to the valet attendant everytime you withdrew or returned the car. This hotel is ideal for those who are staying longer as it had a full kitchen, dining […] table for 4 & living room; lots of closet space with separate bedroom & bath. My only wishlist is at least a TV and phone in the bedroom. It was great otherwise. The hotel is right in the heart of Hollywood. That is the end of the good news. The rooms are dingy and not clean. The beds are past being uncomfortable... they were uncomfortable probably five years ago; now they are un-sleepable. If you're taller than 5 foot--you won't be able to fit in the shower. The list goes on and on (strange stains on the comforter, […] etc.) Although the Maid Service request sign remained on my door for the weekend, it was never actually cleaned. Room was dirty and unkept. Shower head sprayed water everywhere and was covered in rust. Walls looks dirty and had marks on them. Lobby was nice but very deceiving. Will not ever be staying here again. Parking area was dark and scary. Thought I was going to get mugged. Hotel not in a good location. "gardens" were bare and boring. I have stayed at the Roosevelt and Magic Castle on previous trips. This hotel is comparable to the Magic Castle in style. Other reviews are mostly correct. Newer mattresses for comfort would be nice. At first we had a regular room with two beds. This room had a small shower but room was clean and nice. We had a balcony overlooking the courtyard and […] could slightly see the pool. After problems with our toilet, we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. Room #225 was wonderful. We had a full bath and shower with glass doors. This room had been upgraded with tile flooring in all areas but the bedroom. It is as large as any 1 bedroom apartment, and includes a kitchen. Large balcony overlooked pool. Even with parties going on, we did not hear anything with our doors closed. For the price, this hotel is a bargain. For the most part, the day staff is friendly. The night staff, when we had our problem, was wonderful. It does need some outside painting on the trim. Our first room did have a wobbly headboard and could have used new carpet. It appears the up-dating is being done in stages. The location is great: 2 block walk to the Kodak Theater, yet on a quiet street next to the Magic Castle. I will definitely stay there again. the kids had a great time at the hotel playing ping-pong by the pool. the room was well kept. its like a nice little studio apt. very close to hollywood blvd. only bad thing was the room smelled like gas, it turns out it was coming from the wall heater. i didnt discover it till the next day when i was putting on my shoes. other than that staff was very […] friendly and polite. Great place. I had the luck to stay this time in a renovated room above the pool area which was really comfortable. Location is excellent, staff helpful and the parking lot is an additional asset. Six months ago I stayed in a room I would not have recommended everybody but this was very different.

This hotel was great. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were quaint, old LA style. The beds were a bit uncomfortable, but ok. We were able to walk down to Hollywood Blvd during the day and walk over the Hollywood bowl in the evening. Our room had a full kitchen with small dining table. It was a great time.

Nobody could assist us, as there were no staff members who were authorized to do anything. The room was underdeveloped and they didn't try to accommodate us at all. We were unable to get wifi even though we paid for it. It was a hassle and a waste of time trying to relocate because we weren't satisfied with what we were paying for. Hotel supposedly was renivated. Attractive lobby and pool. Parking lot under building very small. Had 4 light bulbs out in room. Went to front desk to see if they had any and of course they didn"t. New TV stand in room and new headboards for beds. Unfortunately the mattresses were horible. These were the only mattresses I have ever had problems with […] in all my years of travel. We were very impressed with Highland Gardens! The atmosphere is retro and cute. Our suite was clean and I think the bathroom floors were even heated. It is VERY close to the busy Hollywood Blvd, Kodak Theatre, and Grauman's Chinese Theatre - only 2 1/2 blocks. It was far enough off the beaten path though, that when we returned, we could relax. I usually rarely complain much about hotel rooms, but this place really took the price. When we came to check in the front desk guy reminded us that we would be getting the "not yet remodeled room", and claimed we already had been notified about that. No where did we see this mentioned when we booked the hotel room or was told about that. We went up […] to look at the room, and it was disgusting and looked like a room that hadn't seen maintenance or updating in 50 years. It smelled like the doors and windows had been closed for just as long. We complained about this room, because it was in a completely unacceptable unliveable state. I've never in my life seen as bad a room as this (and I've been to some shady places in my life). We got moved to a remodeled room. While this was better, the state of this room is what I would have been expecting from a room that's "not yet remodeled". There were several items that were more or less broken. Not so broken that it didn't work, but so broken that I would never rent out a room in that state. Generally it felt like nothing is repaired until it's completely broken. Electrical outlets was missing cover plates, wires were coming out of the walls, the aircondition cover was knocked half-way off and had a power cable across the floor to an uncovered outlet. Holes in the ceiling, termite infested walls. Several of these things are as far as I know illegal! The iron was missing, and I requested one. One was fairly quickly delivered, but it had burnmarks on the bottom (would have left ugly stains on your clothes). I filled it with water and plugged it in, and minutes later noticed that the water was pouring out and down the wire. I got this replaced with a completely new one, but it's a good example of the hotel only replacing stuff when it gets completely broken, and not fixing stuff that's dangerous or unpresentable. in the regular rooms the showers are so small my 5 ft wife couldnt bend to wash without hitting head on wall, but the suits are GREAT, also the customer service is EXCELLENT ! I will return and would highly recommend this place, at least the suits.

For such a beautiful location, why this hotel is so filthy. Carpet very dirty and it cost practically nothing to replace them every year. Bathroom tiny and has molds all over. The online pictures are misleading totally. Ceiling are squicky and we couldn't sleep all night. Management did not want to put us in another room on the 1st floor to cater for […] the noisy ceiling. Breakfast is horrible and have pracically nothing. Horrible experience. But them wife wanted to be close to Hollywood blvd. She has learned her lesson now. Next time she will listen to husband. We read the mixed reviews on this hotel...it was just fine. Fabulous location...easy walking distance. The room wasn't all new and fancy but it was clean and served its purpose just fine. The staff was very professional, making everything easy. We will stay there again.

This is NOT a hotel, these are old apartments with terrible grounds, dead plants,old carpeting and dirty hallways! Great location but no safe in the room.

Location is great, lobby is stylish, free parking...it is downhill from there. The hallway carpet is black with filth. There are gaps around the doors to the rooms, sheets and towels were incredibly rough, no iron, ironing board or hangers!

You walk in the lobby is beautiful.. But one you step foot in the room.. You lighting is two lamps. The bathroom is extremely tiny, no where to put you things. The shower was extremely tiny, look up and see the painted over mold. The beds are not comfortable I would have rather slept on the flood but them again I kept my shoes on at all times. This Hotel is a older hotel and has character. We had a nice experience there.. It's not the as nice a newer hotels. They need to spend a little on fixing the headboards. Very nice carpet. Very reasonable for the location.

The Highland Gardens is a cool, 60s style hotel near the Kodak Theater and Walk of Fame. The neighborhood is quiet and provide easy accessibilty to West Hollywood. The room was clean, but needed updates - for example the shower stall was newer, but there was no counter space or hook for toiletries/towels. Only two thin towels were provided for 3 guests. […] There were cracks and gaps in the corners of the room and the carpet was a bit sketchy near the door. Beautiful lobby however. The pool is courtyard style and the hotel features secure underground parking. I would recommend it to people who were looking for low-cost and some tourist attractions nearby but would not be as concerned with aesthetics. Læs mere

Good old bones Hollywood hotel but gardens need some TLC to restore them to a lush landscape.

Hotel was ok, staff was friendly except the guy who checked me out...shower didn't work in room and told the guy at check out and I expected more than " ok we will look at it " overall this hotel is a 2 or 3..little over priced

IT IS IN A GREAT LOCATION, AND THE NIGHT STAFF WAS BEYOND FRIENDLY. HOWEVER THE ROOMS ARE DISGUSTING, THE BEDS ARE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A BETTER HOTEL

Staff was helpful and front desk. One security guard at night was pretty rude. Room was clean and smelled good. Lobby is pretty as well as the garden. But didn't have an iron? lol

If you go through expedia, hotels.com, or another website other than the Highland Gardens itself, they will charge you an additional $100 deposit. That information should be disclosed to the customer before they make the final decision to stay there. My friend woke up with bites on his neck and arm. We stayed there only one of the two nights. No happy […] about the experience. The only thing good about the hotel is the location to many of the Hollywood tourists sites. I will NEVER use this hotel again. Buyer BEWARE! Læs mere
