Nce breakfast, good location, very large building but small rooms

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. This is the one of the closest hotels to the plaza and we walked to the plaza every day. The staff was outstanding and were constantly checking to make sure our stay was everything it should be. We had a minor maintenance issue and when the service person was not back when he said he would be (10 minutes […] late) he provided us with bottles of water for our inconvenience. Breakfast was fresh and inviting every day. I was concerned that our room was on a floor with families with small children, but we didn't hear a peep out of the other rooms. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient and made every effort to work around our schedule to service our room. This was really a wonderful experience. Læs mere

The Hampton Inn was located conveniently next to The Plaza and as a plus they offered free parking in their garage. The room we stayed in was very nice, the King bed was comfy, the shower was nice and roomy. The staff were all very friendly. We had no complaints, my wife and I would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast is a waste of time rate too expensive for quality of room.

I had the best night sleep ever in a hotel at Hampton Inn and Suites. So comfortable. I will also mention the shower was wonderful. I hate showers with low showerheads or no pressure. Not the case here. The shower head is high enough a tall person can take a comfortable shower, and the water pressure was great! So much for such a reasonable price. When we travel, we don't spend much time in the room or the hotel, but Hampton Inn at the Plaza was a fine respite when it was time to rest and prepare for our day exploring. My only complaint is the VERY loud toilet flushing--not the most suitable system for a hotel.

walls seem to be very thin, could hear people next door easily. toilets flushed very loud, could also hear neighbor's toilet flush easily. Other than that, was extremely satisified with hotel and stay.

You hear all flushes. Other then that, was a wonderful stay. Room was clean and staff was very nice. The hill to the plaza a bit if a challenge, but at 53 I should get into better shape. Will stay here next time in KC

This hotel is an easy walk to the Country Club Plaza. The staff was very nice and breakfast was okay. The indoor pool was salt water! The toilets were very loud, but the beds were comfortable which is more important in my opinion. Overall great stay!

We took our family there to see the Christmas Lights on the Plaza for the weekend. We had the King Suite and the rest of the kids had the two doubles. It would be nice to have a mini refrig in each room if possible. Makes a family stay a bit nicer. The walk up the hill from the Plaza was a bit steep but doable. The room was extremely hot even with the window open and the AC set to max cold. AC just did not function properly. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. The hotel manager was especially helpful and accommodating with our heat problem! I stayed at the Hampton, I had to use my GPS to find it, but that is because I don't know Kansas City and I am terrible with directions. The front desk worker was very nice, my room was clean and comfy! Plus there is a parking garage for your car!! The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We took a trip down to Kansas City - Plaza area, with our two kids (10,12). When we arrived, asked if we could change or upgrade to a room with two Queens or King with a fold out suite. Attendant (Melissa) said she didn't have anything available for both nights. Upon opening up the door, to our surprise, Melissa had put us into a suite. Two Queens, […] pull out couch, and full kitchen. It was a wonderful surprise. She then called to make sure we had found our way to the room. I thanked her for the unbelievable surprise!! Then we came down and she helped us find the restaurant we were looking for and even made a call for us to make sure kids good be there after 8pm. All the service was great, I looked at a couple reviews on hotels in the area and there were good reviews for the Hampton Inn, but they more than exceed me and my families expectations. Pool was nice, disappointed there wasn't a hot tub, but still not a deal breaker. Breakfast was good and had options for everyone. I would definitely recommend staying here. Læs mere

Our shower never got hot - it was always "kind of warm" at best. Also, our room was no where near and elevator or stairwell, but it seemed like we could hear people in the hallways a lot. We also could hear toliets flushing all around us through the walls when laying in bed. Not very relaxing in what otherwise would have been a very comfortable bed […] . Læs mere

Great location, great breakfast, nice room, no complaints.

Loud! I could hear the toilets flushing every 3 minutes, I must have walls filled with pipes. Not a BAD place to stay, but.... for the what we paid, we did expect a little more. We paid for drycleaning, all the items came back smelly, like they were washed in a swamp. Old exercise equipment, and it was hot in there too. We were working on a construction […] jobsite and got pretty dirty, and left footpritns int he shower. The next day, the footprints were still there, even the day after, they were still there. I was disappointed with the cost of my hotel room. I realized this was the going rate in a large city so I booked the room for two nights. For the amount I paid, I expected to have a clean bathtub, soft towels and beds changed each morning (unless I request no change). The continental breakfast had many choices and looked delicious. When I bit into […] the sausage links, it was like biting into dried out cardboard. When I tried to cut up my homemade waffle, the plastic cutlery wouldn't even cut the waffle so I had to tear it apart. Difficult to do with syrup on it! Our room was a basic room, beautifully decorated, though. There was no fridge in the room as advertised so our leftovers from restaurant had to be tossed. My biggest gripe is that the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan so whenever someone took a shower, they could not use the bathroom mirror to apply makeup or fix hair until the mirror "defogged". Since the hair dryer was attached to the far wall away from the door, the cord wasn't even long enough to allow you to stand outside the door and blow dry your hair. To sum this up, you are paying hotel prices for a room that is equivalent to a motel room. Læs mere

This hotel is exceptional-the lobby, breakfast/lounge area, the hallways, elevator areas and the rooms are in superior condition and the location simply cannot be beat. You are close to the Plaza & Crown Center, P&L, Sprint Center and the rest of downtown Kansas City. This is a hotel with extremes: The staff is very friendly, the hotel and our room was very clean. Those are good. The breakfast looked to be good but they had 4 times as many people eating those 2 days than they had room for or food to go around--we took yogurt and juice back to our room. We had the noisiest bathroom in Kansas City: The toilet clanked […] like it was falling apart every time it was flushed and the sink drain gurgled loud enough when water was run into it to wake the dead! If you're looking for affordability and convenience this is the place. Short block away from the Country Club Plaza, free parking and comfort to boot. Breakfast is quite good and was very popular the weekend we were there. No complaints here and would stay again if need be.

Overall the hotel was clean and in a great location near the Plaza. Underground parking was free with key card access. We booked 3 rooms for 3 couples for the weekend and needed 1 more room for just an overnight stay. Despite there being available rooms, the hotel would not book a 1 night reservation. Even though we were giving them the business of […] 3 other rooms, they would rather the room sit empty and wait for a longer stay booking. We called back the week of our trip and they finally let us book the 1 night only room. To their credit, they did make it a suite room with fridge at the regular room rate. Free wi-fi in room. Breakfast ok- eggs salty but waffle iron good. Beds were too soft for me and made my back hurt. Overall a positive experience. Læs mere

This may not be a 5 star hotel, but I will not hesitate to stay there every time I visit Kansas City and in particular the Country Club Plaza. You will not find a cleaner hotel anywhere - and that is extremely important to me. The staff is efficient, courtious and eager to please. The reason for my overall rating speaks directly to the insufficient execution of our smoke-free room. Our non-smoking room was directly next to a smoking room. With smoking allergies and the high, high volume of constant smoking directly next door, we barely slept, our room smelled awful, and the smell and atmosphere of the whole floor was impacted. Have stayed here several times because it does not disappoint. Breakfast is great with plenty of good healthy choices and spaces to dine.

From the map, I was worried this hotel was a bit far from the Plaza. It is NOT - it is a great location for the price. It is a quick walk to the Plaza - easy! The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was better than many hotels I have stayed at. I travel and stay at hotels a lot - this one is a great value.

Came to see relatives and have a bit of nightlife. Front desk was extrordinarily helpful, good breakfast, beds were so comfortable I didn't want to get out of them. Everything was wonderful.

We always stay at this Hampton Inn. Clean, comfortable and friendly staff. Walking distance to great shopping and dining. Good breakfast in the morning. Clean pool and comfy beds. It has all we need for a great stay in KC.

Hotel stay was ok....little scary getting back late at night, some people seemed to be just roaming in the parking garage. And when we went to our room, security was going up to kick some people out. Did find an extra $20 charge on my credit card on Tuesday morning....called and didn't get ahold of the the billing department, so still waiting to find […] out what is going on with that!! Great location close to KC Plaza for a reasonable price. Included breakfast was poor with Hampton Inn's usual wallboard paste-like sausage gravy and fake scrambled eggs.

Great Hotel, clean, quiet, beds are excellent, decent room size and walking distance to all of the great things the plaza has to offer. I will stay here again!

Not right on the River Walk but just a couple blocks away and it was an easy walk. Neighborhood is more industrial vs touristy, but not a "bad" part of town. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The breakfast was tasty too! I saw another review about noise, but we slept well without traffic interruptions.

This was, by far, the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in! The air in the rooms was so clean I kept taking huge breaths! It seemed like they were pumping pure oxygen into the room! The beds were spotlessly clean, and did not have any chemical-bleach smell. Usually I have to travel with candles to make rooms more comfortable, since smells bother me, […] but this room was perfect. I travel about 80% of the time for my job, and I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Kansas City. Another great aspect of this hotel was that the housekeeping staff didn't start banging on my door at 9am the way they do in many hotels. I enjoyed the breakfast included in the stay- more than expected and good tasting. The beds were very comfortable, but the double beds seemed a little smaller than expected for 2 persons to share.

your breakfast bar was very bland with all the process food you had. This included Eggs,Meat, and the sausage and gravy.The cold items and the hot waffle were very good. Sorry but I like real eggs & bacon for breakfast. Also enjoyed the pool.

Since our stay was for 4 days, we were hoping for a refrigerator in the room. However, the hotel was fully booked and they could not accommodate us that night. We could move into another room the next day. However, our schedule made that difficult, so we decided to keep the room. However, once settled in, we found that we could not use their WiFi. Access […] was extremely slow to non-existent. Lack of internet access was unacceptable. We reported the problem to the staff on the 2nd night. Once their IT department determined that the room may be in a "dead spot", the staff moved us into a 2-room suite that very night.. It made the rest of the stay very enjoyable. Læs mere
