"Kinda disappointed..."
It was a nice hotel. My 5 year old son and I were disappointed because we were not informed that the indoor pool was leaking adn that it was not available during our stay. It was the main reason why I chose the hotel. Then I thought that the breakfast was really free but we were given a $20 voucher for breakfast. Overall, it was not bad but was kinda […] disappointed. "Service Staff Great"
We were traveling due to moving a family member, and spent 2 nights. Ups: The service staff was wonderful and very accomadating. They responded quickly to any request. The pool was adequate and there was coffee in the lobby in the morning. The room was clean. Downs: We have 2 pre-teens and we were put in the basement near the pool. It was noisy at night […] until after midnight with slamming doors and loud voices in the hallway. Security is very lax on this floor, I found outside doors proped open and random men made remairks to my young daughters. The beds were comfortable but sagged in the center. We would not be opposed to staying here again, we'd just ask for a room on a higher floor. Læs mere
"Good Enough"
Stayed at this C-Ville location for the UVA/UNC basketball game this weekend. (go heels!) I found the location to be close enough to the main campus (central grounds in UVA speak) but certainly not walking distance. Not because it was far, but because there arent side walks on the main road leading to campus. i was surprised that the hotel did not offer […] a shuttle service to campus. the woman at the front desk was accomodating, offereing the airport shuttle to the campus, but only that one time. otherwise she directed us to the local bus. it was actually reasonably priced and easy to do, which came in hand game day night. The hotel itself was adequate. it was clean, but the bed wasnt as comfortable as you would expect. The matress certainly had depressions of the many bodies that had slept in it and the pillows should have been updated. but the room was clean. which is most important. The bathroom was worn. worn tub, toilet seat, and peeling wallpaper. but again clean. (i am a bit of a stickler on that point). the temperature was good, good control, etc. free coffee in the lobby was fresh, but the taste was less than 7/11. I was also surprised to learn that the breakfast was not included. all in all adequate for our needs. Læs mere
"Good location, NOT clean."
The sheets had stains (I'm hoping ink stains.. at least that's what I'm telling myself). The lights were flickering and everything seemed dingy. There's a lot of road noise (not that they can really help that), and the mattresses were really uncomfortable. I generally like Holiday Inn's, but this one was not acceptable.

THIS LOCATION IS VERY CONVIENT AND CLEAN. STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY BREAKFAST WAS ALSO GOOD.

The staff allowed me to check in early which was wonderful. They didn't have a king bed available which is what I originally booked, but I still enjoyed the comfort of the room. The only downfall was that I had difficulty with the phone in my room and the fact that the curtains were sheer.

"Much I proved from old days"
I have avoided this hotel for decades because it was in sore need of renovation when I was an undergrad (1977). Turns out it is clean, modern and big roomed today. It was all that was available on the crowded Duke football weekend, but it surprised to the upside just like the Cavs.
"Terribly Uncomfortable!"
This hotel did NOT meet expectations. The beds were so old and worn that you could actually feel the springs and it was horribly uncomfortable. The walls were so thin that every time a person spoke in the next room, I could hear them clearly, not to mention the phone ringing, TV noise, etc. My bathroom door handle was broken and never replaced during […] my 4 day stay as promised, so I could not completely close the door. "All said, decent hotel"
About what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn. Nice lobby, helpful staff and clean & comfortable room. Only issue we had was the drain in the tub which did not work, so we bathed in our own dirty water. Would have reported it to the front desk were it not for the fact that by the time we knew it was a problem it was already the morning after a one night […] stay and fixing the problem would likely have delayed our departure. "Close to University of Virginia"
The hotel was perfectly located near University of Virginia. The room was spacious and clean. This was all we required on our college tour. The breakfast was adequate, but I wished they could offer cappuccino or lattes instead of watery coffee.

Receptionist by the name of Dumasalie was excellent. Friendly & knowledgeable. She helped us find our other companions whereabouts. She directed us to local activities with excellent directions. Always a smile on her face. Thank you.

"Pleasantly surprised"
I usually try to stay at Hampton Inns, because of their consistency and free breakfast (with 3 children), but this Holiday Inn was perfect. The service at the check in desk was friendly and accomodating. The rooms (we had 2 adjoining) were spacious and very clean, and each had a minifridge and microwave. And although there wasn't breakfast included, […] kids 12 and under ate for free from the bfast buffet, so no complaints. I run, and the surrounding neighborhood was safe and both commercial (lots of shopping) and residential. Easy access to UVA and downtown Charlotteville, being right off 250 was actually an advantage because we didn't have to go through the university to get to the other side of town. Highly recommend. The hotel needs a facelift. It's very tired and old in the rooms, although the lobby is nice. The beds were hard as rocks and the shower had no pressure.

"Good location, Hotel needs updating"
Even though the restaurant and bar looked like it had been redone recently, the rooms were a bit dated (bathrooms need updating as well). The pool looked a bit sad, and was hard to find. And the gym was pretty much a waste of space. However, what bothered me most was that when I was leaving, I found shoes and toothpaste under the beds from prior guests. "nearly got cheated"
although this hotel was fine in the usual ways, the front desk arranged a taxi for me (i had an extra-early flight, before the hotel shuttle service began) that turned out to be an individual who tried to overcharge me by a lot of money. i figured it out by chance and because i had looked into the likely cost of a taxi. i negotiated him down. this was […] particularly odd, because the previous night's shuttle driver, who was very nice, said the front desk could be counted on to call the lowest-priced taxi. instead i nearly paid close to $40 for a ride that should have been $20 max.
