Castaways Resort and Suites - Freeport

It is 10 min drive to port Lucaya and same time to the shipyard where we needed to be. The International Bazar does not have a lot to offer because most of the businesses are closed, but we have been coming to the Island a lot and this was known already. The hotel is close to the Airport and is advertised as close to the International Bazaar which unfortunately has not recovered from hurricane damage so no special point of interest. The hotel staff were very helpful and it is fine for a one night stay.

Many of the amenities and restaurants were not available as indicated in the Guest Services Book. For example, breakfast services closed early and/or never opened at all. Pool Bar was closed. No place to get lunch unless you went off of the grounds of the hotel even though there was a restaurant on the premises. The desk staff was very accommodating, […] and even got a ride to a BURGER KING for breakfast, buy one of the staff. This hotel had once been a Best Western. Unfortunately, since the hurricanes of 2004-2005 this side of Grand Bahama died out. Only the Lucaya side of the island is booming. So sad. Læs mere

The staff went out of their way to satisfy my needs, after a horrendous experience in another hotel in Freeport. I appreciate their assistance, however, the location of the hotel was not close to the town of Freeport. The International Marketplace was basically a ghost town after the 2004 hurricanes, and unfortunately, there was nothing around to see […] or do. The restaurant in the hotel closed earlier than noted in the room guide for breakfast, but one of the employees took me to a Burger King for a fast breakfast. That was nice, but, this Castaway was supposed to be a BEST WESTERN...but is no longer owned by that corporation. Too bad. I think that things would have been much better if the hotel was operated by Best Western. Expedia needs to keep up with the fact that they no longer operate this property. Læs mere

Arrivée tard et repartis très tôt le lendemain, nous n'avons pas profité de tous les services de l’hôtel ni de la piscine qui était fermé à 20h. Hôtel correct pour ce que nous avons vu, mais le "pseudo" Bazar International proche que nous avions visité la veille n'est que le quartier fantôme délabré d'un ancien centre ville, préférez le Market Place […] de Port Lucaya et ses environs. Le restaurant de l’hôtel est pratique et permet de se restaurer même tard, mais ne soyez pas pressé. Le prix est raisonnable pour l'île. Je chercherais un autre hôtel proche de l'aéroport si je devais à nouveau ne rester qu"une nuit (vol annulé cause ouragan). Læs mere
