I was absolutly disgusting. Barley cleaned up puke on the floor by the bed and puke all over walls in bathroom. Not clean at all, smelled very gross. Overall I would stay away from this disgusting piece of a motel! I cannot get over how gross it was. I wanted to take a shower after stepping in the room for one minute

I stayed here due to the dog show was down the road.. It was one of the worst stays I have ever had, room dirty and musty,stains all over the floor, mold on bottom of curtain in shower... front desk was not helpful and unfriendly, most of the lights in the parking area didnt work.. No garbage cans anywhere outside....I will never stay there again

The room smelled funny and was extremely small.

This is very basic accommodation. I stayed here during a blizzard and was grateful for a warm room. The room needed some basic maintenance: there was a draft through the door crack and the caulking in the bathroom needed replaced. The sheets were not very nice. But the room was clean, the clerk was friendly and the price was right.

There was not a smoke detector in the room, but that was the least of this hotel's issues. The bedding still smelled of the last people who stayed there, the room was disgusting. It was the only hotel with availability and cheap, but would have been better to have slept in the car.

This is your average ghetto hotel. There was what sounded like 2 crack heads fighting in the middle of the night outside our room. The staff knocked on our door before it was time to check out, and the breakfast was awful. The guy at the front desk was really nice though. I was expecting this, so overall I'd say it was Ok.

They upgraded us to a king for no charge. The price was cheap but the motel is in need of updating.

Ok, so this is not the Ritz and that's reflected in the price. This was less than half the price of the other hotels in the area. I took my niece to Dekalb for her 21st (yes, I realize there are more exciting places, but I kinda like the atmosphere of the college town) and decided to just book a cheap place to sleep for the night instead of driving […] back home. This is a really basic hotel. I checked with some friends in the area and they said the neighborhood was fine. The room was adequate and clean (albeit pretty old and worn down), so for the price, really what more could I ask for. Staff was super nice and laid back. Brenda even offered to let us stay for a couple extra hours if we wanted to sleep-in, which I thought was nice. It seems to be really close to NIU. If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, especially after the bars - it's close to Starbuster's and Daisy's and I think Molly's new location (when it opens) as well - I'd recommend this place. It's kind of run down but has the basics and is really cheap. We got upgraded to a king bed because a dresser drawer was missing.

A little old and run down. Could use more channels and a thermostat on the heater would be nice. Just on and off is annoying. It's half the price of the other motels in the area and that is important.

Great hotel for the discounted price. Very close to NIU campus. Easy access. Bottom sheets on bed were flat sheets that did not cover mattress. Bathroom was recently remodeled. Nicely done! Breakfast was more variety than expected. Hot items on breakfast buffet.

We booked the room at the Travel Inn in Dekalb on accident. We had stayed at the hotel next door a few months ago and when I saw the address I thought it was an extremely discounted price for the hotel we had stayed at previously. The room was completely inhabitable, it smelled terrible, the paint in the shower was peeling, the carpet was stained and […] torn, the blankets on the bed were ripped, and the TV did not work. We tried to get another room, and this turned out to be in worst condition. We left within 30 minutes of check in and stayed at another hotel down the street. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the price was very low, but it was not worth saving a little bit of money! Læs mere

I knew this hotel was substandard, but during the university's homecoming there are few lodging options so close to campus (and bars and restaurants all in walking distance.) However, it's location is also next to the train tracks (used by freight trains all night) make it challenging to sleep. The TV gave me 36 channels of fuzz and snow, but no picture […] or audio. There was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room which I did not use. The bedding was clean, but ripped and thread-bare. If you need a roof for the night and nothing else, Travel Inn will do. If you're travelling with family, plan on spending time in your room, require modern accomodations,or are a light sleeper, this hotel is definitely not recommended. Læs mere

The locayion is good but the hotel is really run down.

If you can get past the faulty wiring, TV's that don't work, lack of running water, bugs all over the room, only having one room "key" total, and a barely functioning AC unit then this is place for you. Pay the extra money to stay elsewhere because you'll regret even considering this motel as an option.

It's a nice, affordable motel for NIU students. The staff were nice and friendly. The room was simple, with no frills, but the microwave oven and the small fridge were very helpful. You can not expect too much, but the breakfast was nice, too.

The signs on the office door was rather confusing to begin cause it had an arrow pointing to the night desk. The lady that greeted me was a bit confused as to if she should use my NIU address or the address on my driver's license. The overall appearance of the room was ok, but there was some issues. In the technology age in which we live there was only […] one outlet and that was the bathroom!!! I had 2 phones, a laptop and MP3. The bed had springs in it that not only made sleep uncomfortable for me but for my daughter. The shower, there was no bathtub, was dirty and I was afraid to use it. And being a resident of Dekalb, of course I saw that the pool wasn't in use. If you aren't going to keep the pool, place a tarp over it. I wish that I spent the extra 20 dollars and stayed at the Baymont Inn down the road. Læs mere

Horrible hotel. Very few of the amenities listed were actually available. No laundry or Ice Machine. The pool was not open and had not been for years. The wifi did not work. People were yelling outside all night. We got a call at 4:00 a.m from some ddrunk 20 something looking for his friend. You get what you pay for. The rooms were small and outdated. The furniture was old and chipped. The staff was excellent. We had a smoking room without ashtrays and when we asked for some we were told to use cups with water???? You will See the Broken Down Decrepid Pool as You Drive In followed by the archaic computer system used to "check" You In although they would take anybody and they have. We had the previous room occupants garbage still in our bathroom garbage can. Room was very small, used electrical conduit for shower curtain rod, pool was out of order, TV in room kept shutting itself off and staff would only offer you to change rooms rather than change TV, sheets were worn and stained, blankets had holes and I found a dead bug in my son's bed. Without a doubt this was my worst hotel stay anywhere anytime!

This hotel was grossly over rated. I wouldn't send my dog there.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a hotel. The gal behind the desk said we could have a smoking room on first floor, after we reserved a room for non-smoking, or a room on second floor that the toilet wasn't working properly in. We chose the room on first thinking that it would be better to be able to flush then a problem smelling […] the smoke. We got up in the morning and our shower dind't work. They said we could go use a room that had not been cleaned to shower in or we could move rooms. Since we had plans and didn't want to mess with rooms plus showering we decided to pack up our stuff and move to different hotel that working facilities. Læs mere

This place is awfull

Older hotel, clean room, nice staff, needed miner repairs but was close to everything I needed. Only complaint I had was with the college age student that stayed above me one night, a bit noisey. but all-in-all worth the price.

We booked this room due to its location to NIU for a one day visit. The room is dingy and small and not very appealing but it is what it is, an inexpensive motel. It comes up pretty low on my list...the sheets on the bed did not appear to be exceptionally clean and I passed on taking a shower but it seemed safe and it was close to campus. I wouldn't […] necessarily recommend this but for the money and a one nighter, it served its purpose. freezing cold outside had to go back to the front desk 3 times because twice my key didnt work and finally i got another room. took me 40 mins to get in my room. Bullet proof glass awaits you in the check in area. tv,s didnt work, barely any water pressure, just the worst hotel i have ever stayed at. it said 1 1/2 stars but i really don't know how it […] got that half star.
