Avenue Plaza Resort - New Orleans

I can not say anything negative about Wyndham Avenue Plaza Resort. We had an absolutely wonderful 3 days. Perfect service, surroundings, location. Very nice people. We will be back!

The staff was terrific - helpful, knowledgable and pleasant. The room was large, had kitchen facilities and a great shower. No restraurant on the premises. Eateries close by. The location was convenient for traveling through the Garden District and to the French Quarter, Warehouse District, etc. The only drawback was waiting for the streetcar. We were very happy with our room. It was spacious with a fully equipped mini-sized kitchen and a separate dressing room. Bath was small but had a rain shower head, which was fun as I'd never used one before. It was a good location for visiting Tulane University, the purpose of our visit, just a 15 or 20 minute ride on the quaint St. Charles Trolley […] line which passes by many beautiful homes. (You can take this line the other direction straight into the downtown also and get off at Canal Street across from the French Quarter.) The hotel staff does not come clean the room or make beds for a 2 night stay. Not sure what the service is if you stay several days. I prefer that myself - it felt private - like our own little apartment away from home. We used the dishes, glasses and mugs and I was told just to leave them in the sink - they would clean up. I would stay here again, over downtown hotels because I like the quiet, more residential setting. There are restaurants and drug stores close by without the noise and hustle and bustle of the city. The most important thing to know about this hotel is that it is on St. Charles. The street car runs right in front of the hotel, so when you want to go to the French Quarter - taking the street car is very convinient. The hotel itself is nice. My wife and I got the king bed and we have no complaint. Please note: They will not change your bedsheets […] or towels. You have to go downstairs between at a certain time if you was to exchange these items. Læs mere

We had a great time. The hotel was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Parking costs added to the room cost but were not out of line for the area. We easily caught the tram across the street with $3/day pass and runs almost 24 hrs to visit the nearby French Quarter & Riverfront. This resort is only 5 mins by cab or 10 mins by streetcar from Canal St. and the quarter, great location. I march in the St. Joseph's parade every year so it is good for me, I will use it again. Just be aware it is not a hotel, so there is no daily maid service. My suite was adjacent (double doored) to a suite of people who cooked every morning and […] talked loudly, but it wasn't too bad. The accomodations are comfortable and the availability of studio type rooms with kitchens is great. A bit noisy as New Orleans partygoers return in the late evening but otherwise a very good value.

Was in New Orleans for the BCS championship game, and the Avenue Plaza was a late find, but exceeded expectations. Not sure how old some of the previoius reviews were that I read, but I don't think those folks stayed at the same place we did. Polite, courteous staffers, and efficient, too. Knew the area. Right on the St. Charles streetcar line. Easy to use. Great workout room facility and hotel has rooftop area to see the lights of New Orleans. Great city. Minutes from the Fr.Quarter. New Orleans is a great destination city and has an awesome New Year's Eve celebration.

Check in at 3pm was a zoo with some irate folks. The suite room was very nicely arranged. Grocery and restaurants were convenient

Only stayed one night so the lack of housekeeping wasn't an issue for us. Room was great, very clean and with a very confortable bed. Found this hotel after searching for vacancies all over NOLA for the Saturday night before the Saints' home opener. Most hotels were booked solid. Cost at Avenue plaza, on this night, was $100 less than hotels near Canal […] and the Quarter. Walked to the Garden District for some food and drinks and then paid the $1.25 for the cable car ride to the Quarter. Had a great time and the location, while not directly downtown, was great. In the Garden District with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, and a quick walk or trolley ride to the Superdome and NO Arena. Trolley or taxi recommended for Bourbon St area. this hotel is part of a timeshare so no daily maid service, must take out own trash, etc. however fresh towels, toiletries were available with a call. not a problem as long as you're expecting that. great location right across from streetcar stop. love the kitchenette. great shower. needs more mirrors - only 1 in room - not good for 4 girls! very nice […] courtyard for enjoying am coffee, pm wine. beds very comfortable. free wifi was convenient. elevators slow. When we came back to our room at the end of the first day of our stay, I noticed our room hadn't been cleaned. I called housekeeping, and they said that they didn't clean the rooms during our stay. Iwent back and loked at the brochure we got at check-in, Several pages of small print and it did say that they wouldn't clean the room. It doesn't say that […] anywhere on their website or the Hotels.com website. In my job, I spend ahlf of every month in hotels, and I've never heard of not cleaning rooms. Also, we reserved a king bed, but got 2 queen bed instead. I also called about parking and they told me $11 a night, but when I arrived they told me $22 a night. Find another hotel. Læs mere

Hotel staff was very friendly. The room we stayed in was recently updated and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, appliances all new. It was a great place to stay overall. Also enjoy being able to catch the street car right in front of the hotel.
