While the Boulders is 20 miles north of Scottsdale center, which may or may not be of concern to a guest and his or her family, my wife and I couldn't have found a more enjoyable and relaxing week in the sun of Arizona. The staff was amazingly attentive to our needs, and the facilities were absolutely magnificent, well kept and maintained. The golf […] courses are spectacular, and the Golden Door Spa is something to truly take advantage of. We had a small problem with bugs in our Casita when we first arrived, and the hotel staff immediately moved us to another Casita. One of the best hotel stays I have ever had. Unbelievable service and absolutely perfect surroundings. Very quiet and peaceful. Our room was huge and beautiful. I can't wait to stay there again next year.

Gave us the AZ feeling we were looking for. Beautiful and classic AZ feeling. Would love to go back.

A great hotel....so different, to all the others...excellent rooms and the service is truly outstanding. A very nice atmosphere comparable to a private lodge. Great food and fantastic location.

Me, my wife and our two 10 year old daughters spent 2 nights at the Boulders just before New Years. It's a wonderful property, the pool and hiking the incomparable natural surroundings, kept us all busy. My wife and I stayed at the Boulders 15 years ago, and have very fond memories of that visit, also in December; and we were very happy to learn that […] the resort only improved with the Waldorf Astoria management and the addition of the Golder Door Spa. While we didn't take advantage of the golf course this trip, I could see it was as breathtaking as ever. Can't go wrong with this resort, whether traveling as a couple or with kids. Læs mere

My wife and I had a great time. The hotel is a five star plus hotel. The rooms are as clean as I have seen in any hotel. The ONLY problem would be the distance from everything. The Tour Book says the hotel is eleven miles north of Bell Road on Scottsdale road. This is no lie. Would we go back?? Absolutely. In the summer in Arizona? I would have to try […] it out. Læs mere

The facility, the staff, and the overall experience were wonderful. Our casitas was beautiful, and we really enjoyed the fireplace in the evening. Can't say enough good things about our experience at the Boulders.

Wonderful service, beautiful casita. Location is superb for relaxation and beauty. Loved the spa classes available each day. Would certainly return!

If you're looking to get away, the Boulders Resort is a great way to relax and unwind. The staff was very polite and the rooms were comfortable. They could use a bit of an update, but the wood burning fireplace and spectacular views make up for that.

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the Boulders Resort and this was the first time we had stayed in the resort. The resort is absolutely beautiful, even though it is quite remote from all the conveniences. The service staff is incredible. Amazing staff,with a very comfortabel room and great views! A great place to really get away! Totally recommend.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the intent of the room was wonderful, however, we stayed in a second floor vista room and it smelled of mildew. As if there had been a roof leak that was never resolved. In addition, the wood railing leading to the second floor was rotted through at the handrail to post connection. Not a safe condition. The proximity […] of the room to the front desk was also very inconvenient. I had stayed with my 73 year old mother and the only option to reach our car or the main lodge area was to call the front desk for a golf-cart ride. Læs mere

My family and I enjoyed our stay as it was absolutely a peaceful and beautiful resort. We will definitely visit again. The staff was wonderful and the amenities were very nice as well. Worth the trip, money and experience. Hotels.com made it easy to plan and I would recommend using this as an option for planning future trips.

Great place

The hotel grounds were phenomenal. We felt like we were in the mountains in this secluded area while only being 12 miles away from where we live in Scottsdale. The staff was beyond accommodating, very pleasant and professional. Their golf car concept did get a little annoying. Since the hotel grounds are huge and wide spread, they have golf carts to […] take you from place to place. Wait times for a golf cart did get a bit excessive (sometimes waiting up to 20 minutes to be picked up). I know it's peak season time for Arizona in general, therefore the rate of the room reflected that. We stayed in a Boulder Suite, It was a nice room but definitely not worth the rate we paid. The spa was beautiful! Received a wonderful massage, met all my expectations. Overall our visit to the Boulders Resort was a wonderful experience and very relaxing. Læs mere

This hotel provided the perfect setting to be coddled and cared for. No stone was left unturned by the staff and any request was quickly provided. The unusually high resort fee was actually a blessing in disguise as it included some of the multiple tips that are expected in other resorts and eliminated the usual "digging for dollars". Very nice size rooms, friendly staff, pool area was nice. Quiet, beautiful landscaping.

Wasn't disappointed with anything at this facility. Just what I would expect from a W. A. property. Rooms were great. Pool was very nice and the golf courses are still in top condition. Getting to and from your Casita in the heat is made easy with the shuttle service. If you are booking for R and R purposes I would choose a time other than the summer […] months. The property was perfect. Extremely beautiful. The staff were very professional and excellent service. There was a giant black hair in the tub and I had to kill three spiders in the bathroom. The sheets had WAY to much starch....more than I use on my dress shirts. We loved the property a lot so we will give it one more shoot. We actually decided to […] check out early and went home. The location is a problem as it is quite a distance from all other amenities. if you want a night out you will pay dearly for car service.

We would like to commend Bradley the bar manager for his expertise in wine, and his service. two things that disappoint us was waiting 45 minutes for ice to be brought to our casita. The other was the waitress at the spotted donkey, quite honestly we will never go back there and will go off site to eat. We got a drink and never saw the "ice Queen" again. […] we had to ask the bus staff for water and napkins. Læs mere

The Boulders are nestled in... the boulders, which makes for a serene setting. It is a lovely resort. Hotel staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The checkin system is very well organized. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to explore the spa in terms of treatments and yoga classes. However, I will return for another stay to do so.

My wife and I wanted a getaway in the Phoenix metro area, we chose The Boulders because we had never been there and have always heard great things about this resort. Everything went well, we really enjoyed the view of the golf course/desert from are room, The food and service was very good. We loved going to the pool at midnight and the wonderful rock […] waterfall there. The only two small things that were negative is the lack of food/snacks late at night and we had a misqito sneak into the room and bother us while we slept. The staff are ubove and beyond what you can expect. Thay went out of their way for the little things when they didn't have to and refuse to take tips. The rooms are a 10. If they could only do something about that summer heat. A+ to their team

I understand they want your stay to be comfortable and don't want you to have to use your car the whole time you are there but the golf cart thing was pretty overwhelming. They wanted to unpack our car into a cart then valet our car and drive us up to the door... when the parking lot was maybe a hundred yards away? Maybe we are just silly people who […] like to have access to our car 24/7. Also the first night, there were two huge beetles with wings in the room and the second night there was a spider. Looking for a relaxing retreat....The Boulders offers it all. Superb location and unique in every way. Service is first class, food delicious even at the pool. Would definitely stay there again

The hotel in general, and the room specifically were outstanding. Drink prices at the pool were awfully steep though (2 beers and 2 cocktails for $39 + tip). Even still, the place was GREAT.

We never take vacations, because we cannot be away for more than a day. Our children started sending us on one-night getaways - a different luxury resort/hotel each time. The Boulders is far and away our favorite. It's perfect for us, and it's the only place we will go now. My husband love's the state-of-the-art fitness gym; I love the fitness classes […] that are offered all day; we both love the grounds for early morning or late afternoon walks; and there's even a hill for hiking. Everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful, even other guests! I think they are having just as lovely a time as we are. We don't swim, golf, or play tennis, but we find plenty to do - or NOT do. There are many dining options as well - our favorite is breakfast at the Palo Verde Room. We have stayed at this Resort several times and it is always fabulous. We love it because the grounds are so natural and no cars allowed!! The food is great and the pool is spectacular. The wildlife is the best part. I would advise everyone to stay here at least once. You will not want to stay anywhere else after that.. However , it is not a resort […] for children. My husband and I spent a few nights at this hotel as a "get away weekend." In order to get the best views of the scenery, you need to get a room on the second floor or you will be disappointed. We spent a long weekend here last weekend and had a great stay. Since it is off season now, the hotel was not crowded. This was a nice plus for us. No matter what time of day it was we always had plenty of choices of lounge chairs by the pool. Pool was very refreshing even in the 10O plus degree weather. The wait staff at pool was very attentive and […] we enjoyed the food (chips, salsa and quac, virgin blender drinks and chicken croissant club sandwich) we ordered. Our Casita was huge and very comfortable. We had our college age son with us and they provided us with a double sized cot for him. The casita had a king size bed, two leather club chair and an ottoman. Plus there was floor space galore! We really liked how spacious the room was. Oh and there was a walk in closet!! Plus a huge bathroom with double sinks, jetted tub and separate shower. Shower was a bit small but servicable. We also had a deck with chairs and a table. The grounds are lovely. I will say that the casitas are spread out and ours was far from the main lodge and pool. That was fine with us, we enjoyed the walks but some people, especially those with mobility issues might not like that aspect. They do have large golf carts that will drive you to/ from your room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Other than the pool food, we did not eat on premises. We did have breakfast one morning at the bakery the resort owns in a small mall next to e property. It was very good. We had a great stay and would recommend The Boulders to our friends and family. Especially off season when the price is so low. Læs mere

My husband surprised me with a resort birthday stay. We were very happy with the accomodations, hospitality, and services. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

I have been around in the world and visited many five stars hotel. I have to say this place is just perfect, the rooms modern, comfortable, tasteful decorated. The resort is big, the houses lovely built into a marvellous landscape. Staff courtesy is outstanding. We stay at the Boulders every year, leave the kids at home and just relax! It's quiet, intimate and quaint. The pool area is small and relaxing. The service is amazing and rooms are so nice. The bed makes you want to jump right in! We love the small casita feel - no huge buildings with 300 rooms. We also discovered the Spa Cafe this year and were delighted […] with the food and nutrition content. Overall the Boulders is beautiful and a great stay-cation!!!! We will continue to go every year! Truly spectacular setting for a tranquil get away. The historic boulders surrounding the property are awe inspiring. Couldn't ask for better service and more comfortable accommodations. Only wish I had gone rock climbing, which is offered by the resort and would have been a first for me in an unparalleled setting.

Beautiful setting with the contrast between a wonderful natural desert setting and the lush green golf course. Service was as good as it gets and the rooms are spacious, quiet and restful. A few small complaints- there was no electrical outlet at the computer station. The hotel closed the main luncheon restaurant during our stay - seems like for lack […] of demand. As we had arranged for some friends who were staying in a more central location to join us for lunch, this ruined our plans. Our option was to travel to their golf course restaurant in the unusual freezing conditions or eat off site (which we did). I would think that a five star resort should keep their facilities open during a peak season for the convenience of their guests. Rooms are, as others have said in good condition and well kept but are in their original and somewhat dated state. p.s. when I booked my room if I searched the two days as a single booking hotels.com quoted a price that was more than double the price per day compared to searching the same two days individually and making two separate bookings. We were extremely pleased with The Boulders. The resort lives up to its high rating in every aspect. The accommodations were beautiful and very cozy-- a home away from home with everything we needed and much more! The scenery and nature all around the resort was breathtaking.
