Clarion Hotel Scottsdale - Scottsdale

The beds are fantastic, bathroom a bit dingey, and there were gouges in the ceiling with bugs coming and going.

This is the second time I stayed at the CLarion. It was a perfect location. Very close to shopping and movie theaters and hiking. HOtel was very clean and comfortable. Free parking. I plan to stay here again on my next visit!

The pillows were a little uncomfortable but overall, great staff! Nice pool!

Can't beat the location. The Staff is effeicient and courteous. Carpets in rooms need a deep cleaning and a coat of paint. Avoid outside facing rooms as they are really noisey. The air units are ancient and extremely loud.

Unfortunately, wireless Internet did not work in my room and was not corrected during my 2 day visit. That being said, there isn't a better-located or nicer hotel in this price category in or near main downtown Scottsdale. I would recomment it to everyone. Dark, damp and stinky but most of all don't even think about this place unless you want to get, violated, knifed, and have your car broken into!

tolit leaked and automatically flush all night; next morning it was fixed smoke dectector battery low caused noist all night until a maintanence person took it out to stop the noise; new one had not been put in when i checked out hotel employee taking a survey asked if my room had a microwwave or fridge. answer no i got a bad room for an expensive […] price, it was not worth it ; never again for me Læs mere

This place needs a good make over

The bed was a little creaky and the bathroom was questionable. For the money, stay somewhere else.

The Clarion Scottsdale is a good/basic 3 star hotel. It's in an excellent location in downtown Scottsdale making it easy to get around the area to great restaurants and shopping (with a rental car. ) The rooms are large, clean, more old than new, and a good deal for the price. No Flat screen TV, other than that, good business mans hotel

It's only marked up because of the area it is in. The hotel is old and rooms are dirty in the corners and the drapes were filthy!

Friendly low-key staff, Clean comfortable room. Good restaurant and non-sleazy bar on site. I was only there for a day so didn't check out the pool, but the courtyard looked nice. The hotel grounds look like they could use a little sprucing up, but the rooms, entry lobby, bar and restaurant were up to date. Would stay there again.

We wanted to see Old Town when we were in Scottsdale as well as Taliesen and Cosanti and the location of our hotel was quite perfect for us. This is a great affordable hotel to stay at if you are going to spend time in Old Town Scottsdale or shopping. The staff were friendly, the room seemed to have been recently updated with nice decor, very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The restaurant on site will deliver room service; the food tasted okay but was cold by the time I received […] it. As a single female traveler I felt very safe and was able to relax for an evening. The hotel is centrally located to old town scottsdale and surrounded by great places to eat. shop and entertainment! Fabulous art galleries, Fashion Square mall is within walking distance which was awesome! The hotels restaurant, Papi Chulo has great food! loved the service! Super fast and hot food and yummy drinks! We loved our stay as we got there […] on a night that their bar, The Speakeasy Lounge, was having comedy night, we had dinner and walked over a couple steps to enjoy some great comedy! The beds are comfortable and bedding is premium! lots of fluffy pillows!, however on the downside, theres not any security apparently around the hotel, we arrived early, around 6pm and already there was some crazy drunk woman screaming into her phone out in the parking lot, then later that night another drunk couple were screaming n fighting right outside our room! needless to say regardless of the awesome beds we couldnt get much sleep with all the craziness outside our room! In the morning we woke and took showers, drain was plugged so water gathered in the tub as we showered! gross! then the water wouldn't shut off the water would not shut off so we left it running waiting for maintenance or someone to fix it, they never came so we told the front desk again upon checkout. The place is nice for the price so im not going to complain anymore about it, overall we had a good time because we didnt have to drive anywhere and the bed and pillows make up for a runnin drain! Everything was wonderful.

We were looking for a hotel that would be in walking distance to a few restaurants. This place was perfect. Mexican rest on site as well as a comedy club that just opened. Across the street is the best happy hour in town. Roaring Fork is not to miss! We went there every night! Too cold for the pool but I would highly recommend it! Very convenient for Old Town Scottsdale and very reasonably priced. Rooms were clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable, would certainly recommend for anyone on a budget!

I did enjoy my stay in that hotel. very comfortable bed. The only inconvenient the pool was not heated like it was advertised. Big disappointment about that.

We stayed at this hotel 2 nights. We are from Southern California. Location is excellent if you want to spend time at Scottsdale. Rooms are nice & clean. Mattress was pleasant, but the furniture needs to be remodeled. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The only complaint we have is the bar flys in the stairwell at 2:30 AM.

The bed was wonderful & room was clean. But some updateing & maintenance is needed. Exterior of room windows needs touch up paint. and our bathroom corner looked as if there was a leak at somepoint. Really could have been repaired better. But for the price the bed made all the difference.. For Scottdale I would have expected more. Very nice pool area […] though. Læs mere

great place to stay but only wish they offered a continential breakfast. They offer vochers for a resterant near by for money off but not good food at all.Over all stay good hotel nice and comfortable.

This was a clean place to stay. It had a common pool, barbeque, picknic area that was maintained well. It is a little older looking but if you don't mind the outdoor access of a motel, it's well priced for the value and location. Just minutes from Scottsdale Fashion mall and Old Town Scottsdale.

Nice hotel for the price. First time I stayed here, nice pool, and room. only thing that was missing was no microwave or refrigerator in the room, had this at another hotel in the same area for the same price. service was good, room was nice.

Stayed here for 4 days during a conference (cheapest price). I know - you get what you pay for. The hotel is set up in a U shape. Pool on inside of the U. Rooms on the external outside (odd numbered rooms) were not updated (big bulky TVs, poor TV service, old carpets). The rooms facing the pool (even number rooms) had flat screens, and were updated. […] I could see into the rooms (shades open). The ice machines spit out 10-20 cubes every hour. I had to buy ice from the local stores. My room was a handicap room -- didn't want that but that's all they had (even though I saw several unused rooms during my stay). The shower was handicapped and when used the shower head basically sprayed into the bathroom -- when done with the shower --- there was about 2 inches of water all over the floor (every time I took a shower). The Clarion has a wonderful front desk staff - especially Vicky - who were very friendly and helpful. The grounds were lovely especially the pool area with cabanas and tables surrounding the area. The one complaint I have is the housekeeping...had coffee that morning and in the evening my bed was made but my coffeepot was not cleaned. I had to wash […] it myself. The hotel is clean and convenient to Old Town Scottsdale. I found it easy to drive around in and I would go back.

I work at a higher end resort in Scottsdale but since I needed a room for cheap at short notice I chose the Clarion. I stayed there two different nights and the first night was wonderful, the staff was very helpful even though I was checking in, in the middle of the night. I thought for the price it was going to be a dump but I was very happy with the […] room I recieved. It wasn't very modern or fancy but it was clean and comfortable which is really all I needed at for the price more than I expected. The morning we were supposed to check out (we chose to pay a half day rate to have the room til 5 p.m.) my boyfriend spilt a drink in the bed and since we were still trying to sleep we wanted new sheets. Although there was some confusion with getting the sheets to the room, once the housekeeper came instead of just handing me the sheets which is what I expected she completely redid the bedding in a matter of minutes. Some of the best customer service I have ever seen at a hotel. I believe her name was Veronica. Then when I went to check out at 5 p.m I was told that for some reason someone had already checked me out (would explain why my key wouldn't open the door after 12). Since Vicki (the front desk lady) couldn't figure out why someone had checked me out, she removed my half day rate for the inconvenience. Like I said I work in the hospitality industry and deal with some of the same situations at my resort, I was quite impressed with how well I was treated . I would certainly come back to stay . I didn't choose to "recommend" this hotel (yet...) because they really need to get their property maintenance and quality act together, to live up to their listing as a 3-star property. Seems like it has great potential, and I'd like to see this hotel be that good, because the location is really great. A couple of nice things, first, though... The […] pool area was really well designed, landscaped and furnished, with great fabric canopies, and comfortable chairs (and beds!...?). The pool was uniquely shaped, and integrated into the overall pool area design, and was in a lovely central courtyard, with many of the rooms having a view into this space. The room itself was comfortable enough, with great beds and pillows, and reasonably adequate A/C (it was a 111+ deg. F day in the Phoenix area, so a bit warm was to be expected). Everything worked in the room, which had a nice micro, coffeemaker and good-sized refrigerator. The room was quiet and could be fully darkened. However, these niceties were overshadowed by a couple of things... Though we paid a very reasonable rate for what is billed as a "3-star" hotel, (and it probably has the amenities to earn it), the maintenance and overall quality of the property was more like a "1-1/2 star". There were dirty, narrow, balcony type walkways to the rooms, maid's carts parked en masse at the head and bottom of the staircase nearest our room, strange bikes locked pell-mell at the base of other staircases, seemingly never moving, and several large shipping containers (for hotel storage?) placed in the parking lot, etc. In the morning, when everyone is carrying bags to and fro, large maid's carts would take up the entire walkway, and make it difficult to pass. Definitely didn't feel the luxury outside the rooms. The room itself felt really cramped, too, with furnishings way too large for the otherwise adequately sized room... If you have ever seen the movie "Cool Hand Luke" you will know what I mean by spending a night in the box. By 6:30 a.m. the sun comes up and starts to bake the room. The AC runs like crazy but can't even keep up with what the environment dishes out on the wall. You can't even keep you hand on the door for any length of time without it roasting. Even […] with the AC running full out all day by the time you crawl into bed at 10 p.m. it is the heat radiating from the bed that now warms you. About 3:30 a.m. you finally might consider pulling a sheet over you after you stopped sweating for the past few hours. Perhaps a pool side room would be a better deal. I opted not to get one thinking there would be a lot of potential noise from people in the pool at night. Gads...I wish I had spent the night in the pool at this hotel! Læs mere
