Although the rooms are small, The Pod is a very nice hotel, very clean and in a very central location. The service is excellent and the shared bathroom are very nice and clean all day. Free internet.

Very nice hotel with comfortable but small rooms - hence the name 'pod'; Focus on design. All mod cons available. I stayed in a room with shared bathroom - no problem. Bathrooms were nice and clean all day. Great roof top on 14th floor with view of tall buildings. The only minus was that the elevators are very slow - and only one was in service. Get that fixed Pod Hotel and your ratings will go up!

I was extremely impressed with the comfort, which was not expected. It was clean, cozy and nice looking. Although the rooms are small, they have everything yo need. The bathrooms were easy accesible and the 2 nights I spent there, I had no trouble in getting acces to toilets or baths. The service was excellent. The location was great. Just outside the door, there are restaurants all around the block and the hotel is just minutes away from shopping areas and subway. The rooftop was outstanding. What a view over New Yorks skyline !

The Pod Hotel is just great!!! It so hard to find reasonably priced hotelrooms in NYC, but The Pod Hotel is a completely renovated trendy little place. The lobby is quite hip, and so are the hallways. The rooms are quite small but they'ss get the job done: a cosy bed, an iPod-dock and a flat-screen tv for entertainment and a washbasin for brushing your teeth and stuff. And a safe for your valuables and your laptop. Don't be scared about the shared bathrooms in the hallway. The bathroom are completely new refurbished with tiles in granite and marble, nice zink, cosy lounge-music from speakers and stuff. A very trendy showering-experience! great location in midtown, a few steps away from subway and a great deli on the corner. And free wireless internet!! Highly recommended.

Virkelig sjovt hotel med en super beliggenhed på E 51st mellem 2. og 3. Avenue. Gåafstand til shopping på 5th, FN bygningen, metrostationer. Og så er der en tag-terasse med fed udsigt til NY skyline. Ulemper: værelserne er godtnok små, og toilet og bad på gangen for de fleste værelsers vedkommende.

Just spent 5 nights with my daughter beginning 1/15/2010, great location and very clean. bunk bed room with shared bathroom. bed was comfortable and had no problems ever finding an open bathroom. Loved the personal TV and I pod docking sation. quiet at night and staff very helpful. lots of great little restaurants near by, grocery store and drug store within two blocks. We had a great time at the Pod.

Very much enjoyed our stay, I have paid a lot more for a lot less trying to get accommodation in NYC! Excellecnt location and rooms and facilities extremely clean. My only hesitation in recommending this hotel is it will make it harder to get a reservation next time I want to stay!

Someone described my recent stay at this hotel as like when you stay on a train.. It's the same size, perhaps a little smaller. The bathrooms and showers down the hall are ok when clean.. I did have a mouse scoot along side the floor but I kept the lights on. Great neighborhood!

I have no complaints about this hotel. Room was very small but I was expecting that. Everything was very clean and well organized. Had no problem getting access to shared bathrooms. Staff was very friendly and responsive. For the money and location, can't be beat.

excellent stay during the holiday period. The small room was so intricately designed to maximize living space it felt that it had more living area than the 100 sq ft advertised. Very professional staff and the location was great.

The location of the hotel was great. Only 2 blocks from the subway. Quiet neighborhood. The bed was kinda hard and the room was small. But, it was clean and quiet. Get restaurant right around the corner on 2nd ave. The Pig n Whistle tavern. The staff there was really great and the food was good and reasonable.

the cleanliness was impressive. The spcae is small, but if you only sleep in your hotel room, this is ideal.

Good location, very clean and organized hotel, but the hotel crew could be more helpful.

I was looking for a cheap stay and stumbled upon the Pod Hotel. Since I was going to be staying with a friend the following night, I figured an in-room bathroom wasn't an important feature. The problem is that if everyone around you doesn't have a bathroom in their room, they all have to leave their room to use the shared bathroom.... which means random door openings and closings in the middle of the night depending on your neighbors level of incontinence. The room was fine. It was clean and passable for comfort for the price. If you can sleep through your neighbors going in and out of their rooms to "relieve themselves" then this is an ok place to stay.

I was at a conference in Times Square and wanted a cheaper place to stay than big hotels. This place was just right for what I wanted. I had a room without a bathroom. Never had to wait to use a bathroom. Showers are great. Bathroom clean. I'd stay there again.

I was a little wishy washy when booking with this hotel because of how small the rooms were and the fact that you had to share a bathroom but it was surprisingly perfect! Yes, the size of the room is extremely cozy but I've been called a hermit crab before so it was right up my alley. It was also very clean and the rooms had private sinks and safes. Yes, you have to share a bathroom but the bedrooms are equiped with a light display above your door that indicates if any of the four bathrooms on your floor are being used. I never had to wait for a bathroom at anytime during the two days I stayed at The Pod. Another note, the bathrooms were clean and there were shampoo and liquid soap dispensers in the showers (bring conditioner if you use it.) I was happy to noticed that the shower curtains were cleaned daily. The neighborhood is great because there are plenty of restaurants nearby to take a quick walk to, there is a police and fire station not even a block away (I felt safe), and the 4,5,6 subway is just steps past the police and fire station. An extra special bonus the hotel offers is a rooftop patio! It has tables, chairs, and benches so that you can enjoy the city lights at night (awesome view) or, if it's a nice day, I picked up breakfast and brought it back to the hotel! I will definitely stay here again!

The Pod Hotel was better than I had expected. The bed was comfortable, linens were clean. I had a private bathroom, which was very clean. The shower was always hot. I did have a problem with noise in the hall outside my room. Guests who did not have private baths were using the shared toilets throughout the night, and because the walls were thin, I could hear the sound of doors opening and closing. One elevator was not working. I would stay here again.

It was a very small room much like a dorm. Very clean, near several great restaurants. Everything I expected. Would definitely stay there again.

Overall, the Pod is a great hotel with a couple of caveats. First, the rooms with a private bath are handy, but if you are spending a romantic weekend together, there's not a lot of privacy. They've figured out how to cleverly work module doors and curtains, but in a small space, sounds and smells travel. We were fortunate to be across the hall from one of the shared baths (which is large and clean) and luckily, it was almost always vacant when we needed it. Second, it's difficult to wake up and get motivated without morning coffee. There's no room service and the restaurant that apparently is connected to the hotel was closed for renovations. Fortunately, the hotel is in a neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops within a block or two. However, for the price you can't beat it. The location is great, the rooms were very clean, and there's free wifi.

the pod is like a living and breathing ikea catalog, the rooms are chic and modern, and very clean and efficient. we had a room with a private bath and i loved the utilitarian all white and metal feel of it, very clean too! for the price and location you cant beat the pod.

The Pod was clean, comfortable, cheap and in a great location. The room was as advertised (if not a touch nicer than expected) and we were able to check in two hours early. My only complaint would be not being able to access the rooftop deck -- but it was early November in New York -- so I guess I can understand why it would be closed. Had to ask for an extra pillow, but delivery was prompt.

my only complaint are the elevators: one is out of service. The remaining 2 are small and slow, so at busy times you can wait for 5-7 minutes for an elevator that you can squeeze into. At non-busy times, elevators are fine. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly.

First, if that was a 'queen size' bed, then my name is Victoria! (I hate to think how small their 'double' bed must be.) I believe that the single, with the shared bath, is a true bargain in NYC; but there is limited value in their more expensive rooms as for only a few dollars more there are mainstream properties (with rooms larger than a closet) available. [No one with luggage larger than an overnight bag or backpack would be comfortable here.] The hotel is clean, safe and convenient and for people looking to save maximum money, this hotel is a very good choice. For others who are willing to spend more money, there are better choices.

Stayed in the single with shared bath. This room is very small even for those used to staying in small NY hotel rooms. The room is intelligently organized and at the end of my 4 night stay the "smallness" didn't bother me. Flat screen tv is excellent, 20 channels maybe. Remote didn't work, but hotel promptly replaced when informed. Hot water and showers worked well. Toilet and shower in separate rooms which makes sense. Everything very clean. The only negative to this place is the walls aren't very sound proof. I could hear person in another room talking on cell phone plainly. The E, V and 6 subway stations are just a couple minute walk. A couple of interesting bars and restaurants very close, but in general not the selection of eateries and bars you can find in a couple of other Manhattan neighborhoods.

I spent 1 night at The Pod on Nov 3 -- there for less than 8 hours. The room served its purpose as a place to sleep and shower that was close to where I needed to be. Having lived in a tiny apartment in Hong Kong a few years back, I was fine with the set-up (and liked the light system for the shared bath). I could have used an iron but did not bother to call to inquire if that was even possible (so bewarned). After waiting a few minutes for an elevator in the AM, I decided to walk down a few flights as 1 of the 3 was out of order.

I spent one night at the Pod in a room with shared bath. It was perfect for a single night, and I spent very little time in the room, so the tiny room was fine. It was clean and had everything I needed, but I probaboy would not spend a several days' stay here. Hotel very convieniently located, and staff helpful.

A nice clean, small room with basic amendities, just as advertised. The walls are a bit thin tho', as the sound from adjoining rooms and the hallway are pretty apparent. But overall, a pleasurable experience and I would consider staying there again.
