We didn't mind being in our room as it had a great bed and a nice sitting area. The staff were all very nice. The front desk gal Jade was such a pleasure to deal with.

Hotel was clean, well located and beautiful. I loved the wooden floors. We were a bit surprised that we had to pay 10usd extra per night for breakfast/WIFI even though website mentioned breakfast was included. Breakfast is actually just some Danish and coffee down the hall. When the permits, you can sit outside in the patio next to the pool.

This hotel is a good hotel. No frills, no amazing attributes, just a solid, quaint hotel in the quarter. Elevator was broken so third floor access was a pain. My husband & I recently stayed a night here on the 2nd floor balcony suite. It was wonderful. The room was small, but just what we needed. The french doors opening to the balcony letting in the cool breeze, & the sounds of the city, hearing the horses hooves on the streets & the local music playing on the corner,it was a wonderful NOLA experience. It […] was right near the French Quarter where I wanted to stay so we could walk over to Cafe Du Monde for beignets! The only negative thing I would have to say is the earth shattering loud noises from the garbage truck that arrives right outside at 5:00am and empties all the dumpsters from the Omni hotel across the street. But I had read this would happen in a review prior to our stay so if you know it's going to happen, it's not as alarming. haha Læs mere

The hotel was 2 blocks to Bourbon street and 2 blocks to Jackson Square. The rooms were very nice and clean. Nice bedding and flat screen TV. The rooms were a little loud but it was Mardi Gras. So people were coming and going all night long.

There was no A/C, the hotel is extremely hard to find, the bathroom smell like the sewer, and no light switch. All light have to be turn on manually. The only good thing about is the customer service.

As it was that my fiance stole my wallet to go out and have a french quarter experience for an entire day without me, I ended up really getting to know the hotel well, spending most of the time there. After a night of drinking the comfortable beds make things seem not as horrible. The shower does take a while to heat up. What a great place to stay! Cozy cute rooms. Very minimalist but everything you really need. A short walk to all the sites. The staff is so friendly and helpful. There is no valet parking but parking is available in 2 locations across the street. There is a large generator at the hotel across the street, but the staff said it should be out before the […] 2013 Superbowl. There are 4 rooms on that street side. It did not bother me as I am used to sleeping with a noise maker so the hum lulled me to sleep. There are other quiet room available. The court side rooms would be quiet and romantic. The balcony room, by the generator, have a GREAT view of the city and would be great for a morning cup of coffee or lunch/dinner if you order delivery. The balcony is large enough for a small gathering if you are there during Mardi Gras. There is a great breakfast restaurant 2 blocks away on the same street. All the reviews I read before going were spot on- this hotel is in an amazing location and is pretty clean. However, the rooms are small/cheaply renovated and there aren't amenities like at a bigger hotel. Overall I'd recommend the Hotel St. Helene- with the understanding that it's not a luxurious spacious experience.

This is a small hotel nestled into a great location and definitely worth the money paid. The rooms were clean and as quiet as could be expected for this location. All of the staff were very lovely and helpful. The only odd thing is the heating and cooling issue which were a bit out of our control, and while I understand that it is an old building and […] can only have controls for either the heat on or the ac on at a time (meaning if it is cool outside and the building has the heating unit on to account for that, you cannot use the ac at this time, even if your room is hot, and vice versa) I did not mind this once it was explained to me, but others who are looking for full service might? Also, there is a side niche with a day bed where one can watch tv (which easily and conveniently swings from the wall on hinges) or set out their things... however, there is no light there whatsoever. I had read previous complaints about this to which there was a repeated response that lights were ordered to correct this... months ago, so I figured the lights would be there during our stay, but were still not. That aside, this is a clean hotel, with a comfortable room and friendly staff. The location cannot be beat for walking to anywhere in the French Quarter, the waterfront, Canal St., cemeteries, etc... We were blown away by this hotel. It is right in the middle of downtown but on a side street so it's really quiet. The staff were nice and while they do not have parking, there is a parking place right across the street that is reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for an affordable place to stay!

The Omni hotel across the street had an extremely large portable commercial chilling unit right in front of Hotel St. Helene that sounded like a jet engine, even with the doors shut. Great location and feel. We were able to hear the guest in the neighboring room quite easily. This is most likely do to the age of the building. Hotel St. Helene is a nice boutique hotel in a perfect location of the French Quarter. It’s far enough away from the rowdy Bourbon Street, yet a short walk to the bars, great restaurants, shopping, and the river front. The building has tons of charm typical of the architecture found in New Orleans - I really didn’t want to stay in a chain hotel that […] looks the same no matter what city you’re visiting. The bed was comfortable although, I wasn’t overly impressed with the polyester pillows; nice marble shower with plenty of hot water. There is a restaurant/bar next door that sometimes has live music so expect to find a noise level might be a concern for some. My major compliant is a slow response by the staff to a need to adjust the heat in the building. There HVAC is set up so that the whole building is either on AC or heat, you can’t access both. When the temperature dropped big time during my stay, it took them two days before switching to heat. I expressed a concern the after the first night it become uncomfortably cold and wasn’t happy about returning on a second night late in the evening to once again find the room temperature in the low 60’s. Nonetheless, I found the décor and French Quarter vibe very appealing and would probably stay there again – only during a time of the year when it’s warm outside! Læs mere

Great Hotel. One BIG Problem: Across the street is the Omni Hotel's Dumpsters. Big Boys! 40 footers I think. They empty them at 5 AM Daily and it takes them almost an HOUR! To say it was loud is an understatement! Crashing down on the pavement repeatedly the dumpsters seemed to bounce and the trucks sounded like they were grinding gears as loud pressure […] releases of their hydraulic lifts screamed into the night. I think this hotel tries but has too many things going against it. I read some reviews that the rooms were small but that was an understatement for the premium we paid for a French Quarter balcony room. Could barely squeeze by the bed to get to the bathroom. The location of the hotel is fine but not for the rooms facing north into the OMNI Hotel. Yes […] this is a busy part of town, and it's New Orleans, but the noise level throughout the night into the morning when the hotel trash and deliveries started was nuclear. I've lived in New York and other urban areas and this was many times greater. So, got no sleep. And due to typically fickle NOLA weather it was warm, but when I turned on the AC at 1am it blew hot air. Staff said AC had been disabled for the season. So then I had no choice but to open the balcony doors for some breeze only to allow in more ear shattering noise from street. Would not stay here again. Læs mere

If you are just looking for a bed in the French Quarter, this is fine. The Hotel is very old and has been renovated. Unfortunately I think the owners should have chosen better contractors. The picture shows french doors onto a balcony. They are very small. One side is still painted shut. Someone decided to put add on shutters on the inside which further […] restricted the opening an additional 8 inches. The shower took about 15 minutes to get hot. Make sure you lock your french door before you go out. ALSO DO NOT DRINK THE WATER FROM THE WATER BOTTLE!!! THEY ARE $10 EACH!!! Amazing hotel from the second we walked in the door. Beautiful foyer area as well as courtyard. Updated rooms were gorgeous! Perfect location to walk to all the streets around. Close enough to walk back and forth throughout day to visit all the local shops and restaurants.

i very much enjoyed my stay here. great room. the customer service was excellent! very friendly and helpful staff my entire stay. bed was very comfortable, room was clean, reasonably quiet, great courtyard. the only drawbacks are: 1. NO ELEVATOR! (i was on third floor), though they did offer to carry my bags for me!, 2. someone was spraying down the […] tables and chairs where you would eat your breakfast in the courtyard at 8 am the place was standing in water! hhhmmm!!! (this makes NO sense, unless it was done on purpose to keep people from eatting). this left absolutely no where to eat at all (unless, of course, you want to climb back up to your room!) and 3. the thermostat in my room did not operate very well. the room never got cool until around midnight. i would hesitate to stay here in the summer months for sure!! all in all, however, it was a great room and great location with superior staff!!
