Colony Hotel - Miami Beach

I forhold til beliggenhed er der ikke en finger at sætte på hotellet. Det ligger med egen bar/fortovs café midt i South Miami Beach. Servicen ved receptionen var for det meste i orden men der hvor hotellet falder igennem er helt klart ved deres rengøring som var nærmes ikke tilstedeværende og selve hotellet som tager sig meget taknemmeligt ud på billederne. […] Jeg vil anbefale hotellet til festhungrende personer som ikke ønsker at bruge hotellet til andet end at bade og sove (efter byturen). Fantastisk modtagelse, super personale i receptionen. Hotellet har meget larm, men det må forventes midt på ocean dr:) Eneste minus er at der ikke er udsugning på badeværelset og dermed meget fugt (som lugter) vinduet kunne ikke åbnes som alternativ.. Alt i alt et fint hotel med ok standard for south beach og absolut rimelige priser.

Fint hotel... havde hele tiden problemer med nøglekort og det var der også andre der havde. Wifi gik også ofte ned. Havde også lidt problemer med at få koldt vand i bruseren, så der var nogle meget varme bad i blandt. værelser af ok størrelse og dejligt med stort tv og mange kanaler, når man lige var 10 minutter på hotellet. Nice hotel on a great location

hotellet har slet ikke en sevice og en rengørings standart der er værd at tale om, jeg boede der i 3 uger, og fik ikke selv hverken skiftet håndklæder eller sengetøj, med mindre jeg selv hev det af og smed det i en tydelig bunke foran døren til værelset. jeg måtte selv gøre badeværelse rent to gange fordi det var ved at være så beskidt at jeg ikke engang […] ville bruge rummet til at holde vilde dyr i. Great location for price... Clean place & friendly staff

Personal and professional!!! Though a small hotel, they try to go out of their way to provide you with all that you need to be comfortable. Will sure stay there again.

All I can say is GHETTO!!! We planned a girls getaway and wanted to be really close to the beach. Location was great but that’s it. I was first in line to check-in but had to wait 20 minutes cuz the concierge tried to check-in 3 parties at once. After three trips back to the front desk, we were still unable to get into our room cuz the room door was […] broken. The concierge actually got huffy with us! But my friend set him straight and yelled at him in front of the other guests. We finally got a room on the 1st floor. Our new room was clean and renovated and had good AC but the lighting was practically non-existent (this is more of an FYI for those of you who plan to put on make-up). The highlight of our stay was when our neighbors had a drunken fight at 3am. It was like listening to an episode of Jerry Springer. Lastly, our friends had booked another room, which ended up smelling like an ashtray. I am not exagerating. It was the worst smelling room I've ever been in. They ended up switching rooms as well. Best location on the beach. All our needs met and then some, We will now only stay there

Day time staff was nice and tried. Night time staff sucks. Harold the front desk person would not get us towels after 7pm. because the cleaning staff was already gone, he also stated what do you expect from a two star hotel. Rooms are too small, bed matress uncomfortable, bathrooms are falling apart, lobby bar over priced. We were a big group we had […] 5 rooms and we asked if we could get a delayed check out with just one room. The front desk manager wouldn't do it. Wood floors, new upholstery, new everything. I was in room 100 and it was amazing. The service was amazing. No bugs! I ask for mayo (lol I was making a sandwich) and the got me a squeeze bottle. I had a problem with vallet parking, and they fixed it. All in all will return. Btw location is indescribable! Awesome

Good hotel for party people not families . Crappy beds , squeeky, but excellent service.

The workers were very helpful in fixing issues that arose in the room, as well as suggesting great eats & places to go & things to do. The hotel is right across the street from the beach (in this area this is the closest you can get) and near many restaurants/shops/clubs/bars. Almost everything was in walking distance (even walking distance in heels) […] and the area felt very safe. The hotel offered beach towels (which I wish we would have known) and has a restaurant out front from it, but so does every hotel on this strip, so finding food isn't an issue. Because of the friendly staff who immediately took care of anything and had no problem throwing out great ideas, I would definitely go back. Læs mere

In the heart of South Beach, this hotel is old but well maintained. It was a little weird having to use valet parking ($22/day) but once you're at the location you'll understand why. Right across the street from the beach and beach volleyball. Good TV and wifi. If you go check out the Decobikes to rent all around Miami Beach. They are very convenient […] and well worth the cost. good for purpose of location. Hotel room was ok, staff was nice to provide extra towels when requested. Good for purpose of being close to action and for a place to stay.

The hotel is obviously older, but very clean & in a convenient location on South Beach. The initial concierge that checked us in was awesome! However, they changed shifts & the next concierge was not as helpful. We had an issue with our keys, he said he would send someone up to fix it, but they did not. Luckily the cleaning lady let us in. We had to […] sort the problem out later on our way out. Also the blow dryer kept overheating after 2-3 minutes. They said they would send another one up, but they never did. If you need to blow dry your hair bring your own! The main thing I was disappointed about was the valet service. Apparently the service is for the all the hotels on that street, and you have to valet because there is no local parking (which is fine). They say to call 20 minutes ahead of time to get your vehicle. We had Miami HEAT basketball tickets for a 7pm game. We called at 6:10pm. We did not get our car for an hour & a half!!! We arrived late to the game with only 5 mins left of the 2nd quarter. We were extremely upset about the situation & the valet service didn't really seem to care about the problem...kept saying the car was stuck in traffic. The next day when we went to check out of the hotel it took about another 45+ mins to get the car. I suggest calling an hour ahead of time. Other than that the hotel itself was great for our needs. The hotel is in an awesome location and the room was really nice, the only things I didn't like was the smell of fries in the hall and the fact that you can hear the people outside in the morning moving and getting stuff. Other than that I would have given them the 5.

This place seems to be in a great location, right across from the beach, but it is also a VERY loud area. The hotel itself is poorly lit and dingy. Rooms are fine, but the "lobby" is a dump. Also, the room had only one light and so we had to choose between charging our phones and using the light. Also, and most importantly, there was no running water […] in our SHOWER! We had a very early flight so tried to take showers when we returned from dinner/bars. No water. Then we woke up early in the morning -- still no water!! Who ever heard of a hotel in the US that did not have running water in the SHOWER?!?! Outrageous! Læs mere

Older hotel with small rooms, small bath, and hardwood floors. Great location if you want to be where the action is in South Beach. It was clean and neat , but the beds were noisy. In room Wifi did not work while we were there.

Really comfortable everything is so close...loved it there will do it all over again...

Was concerned about cleanliness and noise, but was pleasently surprised -- room was fine and quiet. Front desk & staff friendly and helpful, plus also enjoyed patio breakfasts. Great location and value. Will stay there on future trips.

My wife and I had a great time, great mojito in the lobby bar, ocean view room upgrade was a blessing and Ocean drive is fun and alive, walking and people watching, choice of street cafe's for dinner and short walk to the Mango club for dancing, street cafe for breakfast and a walk on the beach, priceless

I honestly don't understand how anyone can give this hotel a bad review. 3 of my friends and I flew down from New York to celebrate my birthday over a long weekend. We're all well-travelled and all 4 of us thought the hotel was great. Our room featured two double beds (If there was only one thing that could be improved on is the quality of the mattress, […] but even so it was comfortable enough), enough space for 4 adults to get around in the room, well air conditioned, quiet and the bathroom has a nice "waterfall" shower. It wasn't the world biggest hotel room, but I wasn't in Miami to hang out in my room. Also, The staff was super nice and were helpful for any of our needs. Location was absolutely key though. Directly across the street from the beach. (they do beach towel rentals for free with a $10 deposit). Downstairs there is a Johnny Rockets with the world's cheapest breakfast (and good!) and three doors down there is Wet Willie's, which is by far my favorite bar in Miami. Definitely book here for a good price and a great location. However, if you're looking for ultra luxury, go somewhere else. Læs mere

The Colony Hotel sits in the most perfect location, couldn't ask for better. The rooms are small, but clean and complete with fridges, ironing boards, and flat screens. Free Wifi was amazing! Harold and staff were above and beyond helpful and made me feel taken care of, making my vacation a truly relaxing experience!

Great Location

The hotel was in great shape and what I expected for an area known for very small rooms. I am glad I was aware of the small room size before I got there or I would have freaked out! The box spring was very, very noisy and made it difficult to get any quality sleep. Just outside our first floor window was the kitchen door for Jonny Rockets restaurant […] and deliveries started at 6am. Deliveries were very noisy as well for over an hour while the driver used a metal ramp to get inside the kitchen which made a huge racket every time he went in and out. I confronted the front desk face to face at 7am and he said we were lucky it wasn't one of the days that they powerwash the exterior floors! The hotel has tried to talk to the City about it but haven't been able to do anything about it. Very sad because everyone could use a good night sleep after a South Beach night! Læs mere

I reciently stayed at the Colony for four nights. I found the Maid service to be satisfactory. My bed was maid up every day and I recieved fresh towels. I did not care for the rain shower. The room could have had a table and chair for the use of my laptop. Everyone was friendly and helpfull. Definetly would go there again. Mostly the elevator would […] not work. Læs mere

I recently spent a night at the Colony hotel in South Beach at the end of a business trip. The room was clean btu very small. The hotel was right in the middle of the South Beach activities so you will not be disappointed if you want to get to the Beach or the famous club scene.

Great location, very small room, and very old building. Smelled like mildew.

The location is mighty convenient -- right in the heart of the ocean drive strip -- and it IS an iconic, Art Deco hotel, BUT... I have never paid so much for so little. Rooms are small, as might be expected in an old hotel. The bed was ridiculously lumpy and uncomfortable. The maintenance of the entire facility was obviously a low priority. Parking […] was off site and very expensive, but that also is no surprise. On the plus side of the ledger, there was a nice, 46" flat screen in the room (unfortunately, though, no high-def channels). The room did have a lot of handy shelves for organizing our gear and my wife liked the wood floors. Bottom line: I'd stay somewhere else next time and take a cab to South Beach. The Colony hotel could not be better located. South Beach is the best part of Miami. It has most of the shops, restaurants, pubs, clubs and best atmosphere and beach that Miami has to offer. Unless you are in Miami stricly for businesses and want peace and tranquility, then this location is certainly for you. I only stayed 2 nights and didn't order […] room service so I can't comment, but the room service menu is extensive and the food looks very appetising. The beds are incredibly squeaky. That's the worst bit about it. It's comfortable but makes so much noise if you move. If you are there with a partner than you'd likely wake your neighbours. The bed was freshly made and received clean towels every day. The general cleanliness of the room is very good. Despite being in a busy, loud area, I could hear nothing at all at night, and I was on the ground floor. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and the location couldn't have been better. Overall the room was clean except for the bathroom....the toilet hadn't been flushed and or cleaned. It must have been missed. Because I checked in late I just wanted to get to bed so I didn't bother calling the front desk, but i was a bit grossed out. When I arrived, […] although it was a non smoking hotel, the room smelled a bit like smoke. I pumped up the air conditioning to circulate the air which helped a bit. I was also in the room by the alley where I guess the kitchen exits out to. It was pretty noisy, music, pots and pans clanking etc... but it's to be expected on the main strip so that didn't but me too much. I cooked The Colony through hotels.com, and was a bit hesitant, due to the fact that it was cheaper than others in the area. I was very pleased after arriving - the location is awesome - literally across the street from the beach! We were right in the middle of all the fun restaurants/bars on Ocean, and had a blast. We did arrive at 2:45 in time for […] the 3 pm check in, and our rooms were not ready. We were instructed to leave our things in the lobby and go out/have fun - that was a bit frustrating, considering there is a 4 hour window between check-out/check-in, and the hotel is not that big... Our only other complaint was the amount of time it took to get extra towels - service was slow. However, we enjoyed our stay overall, and I would definitely consider staying again at the Colony. plus, no one goes to Miami for the hotel stay! ;) Læs mere

Perfect place to stay on South Beach. Only issue is parking, which is $24 (same as most places around there) and the 3rd floor wireless has poor reception (try to stay on a lower floor.

This hotel is great value for the money! You can't beat the location right at 7th and Ocean. We walked everywhere and its so close to lay out on the beach. Rooms are simple and clean. The very best part of the Colony is the great staff at the front desk...we loved the guys at the front desk...they took great care of us and made us feel welcome. hotel is right in the middle of south beach. tons of touristy eateries in the vicinity. lots of night life. hotel is quiet once you are in your room. if you stay on the first floor, be sure to request down the hall a ways as the door to the lobby slams pretty hard. room was clean. bathroom was adequate. this is definitely not on the level of the ritz […] or the sagamore but hey you arent paying those prices either. overall not a bad place to stay.
