The Lucerne Hotel - New York

Hotellet er flot, og nyrenoveret., men desværre var det værelse vi boede på ret lille i forhold til hvad vi har været vant til på vores tur (13 andre hoteller). Vi boede på et værelse med 2 queen size beds. Der har vi erfaret at der normalt er enten en lille sofa, eller mindst en lænestol på disse værelser, og dermed lidt plads omkring sengene. På dette […] værelse var der de 2 senge, og meget lidt plads ved siden af sengene. Faktisk var det meste gulvplads optaget af vores 8 kufferter. Badeværelset var også temmeligt småt. Men når det er sagt, var der pænt og rent. Der er god service, både med baggage og hjælp til os som turister. Jeg tror det egner sig mere til lidt ældre ægtepar, end til en børnefamilie. Kan man leve med det lille værelse, er belliggenheden til gengæld meget god, det er et pænt kvarter, og der er kun 200 meter til metroen. Det var dejligt. Læs mere

Skal man opleve Manhattan, og resten af NY for den sags skyld, så ligger The Lucerne Hotel rigtigt godt. Centralt, men dog ikke så centralt, at det bliver meget dyrt. Man kan gå til mange attraktioner ellers ligger Subway lige for enden af vejen og taxi er til at betale for. Man bor i NY, så støj fra gaden hører med. Perfekte familieværelser for os […] med to børn. Stilen er en smagssag, men kvaliteten er bare i orden. Restaurant Nice Matin i stueetagen kan anbefales og går for at være en af de bedste i byen. personalet var supert, restaurenten ved hotellet superb, der er nogle supergode morgenmadsrestaurenter i nabogaden, et biludlejningsfirma i næste gade, havnen er tæt på med en lækker bar om natten, underground lige for enden af gaden, og hyde park 2 bloks væk. værelserne var dejlige store og rene, der var ro om natten. absolut anbefalingsværdigt.

It was the first time we stayed in the Upper West see of NYC - Good location and nice hotel for the price. W+Easy walk to Central Park. Quick ride to the East Side and museums and shopping.

The Lucerne was perfect - the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff was very courteous and the gym was very well equiped.

The hotel was exactly as presented on their web site. I felt very safe both in the hotel and the neighborhood. The front desk personnel and bellmen were curteous and helpful. We ate in neighborhood restaurant and were very pleased. We (two women) felt comfortable walking in the park down to Columbus Circle and back (after dark) on Broadway. This is the second time we stayed at the Lucerne Hotel, and we were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is extremely clean, and it was quiet even though there were numerous guests. The hotel restaurant Nice Matin has a wonderful breakfast menu. We will stay here again when we return to NYC.

WiiFi not working

I stayed four nights, and was not impressed with the room. The bed was not clean, there was hair on the sheets. I would suspect that the bedding was not changed prior to our arrival. We came from Australia and needed to borrow or buy a plug adapter. The desk staff would not help us with a plug nor did they offer any advice as to where we could purchase […] one! We bought two tickets for the Broadway show Wicked, $60 seats ended up costing us $180 each plus a $60 booking fee. The tickets had to be picked up at the Sheraton Hotel! My all- time favorite place for breakfast is Sarabeth's (1/2 block) and now a new Cuban discovery, Con Leche (1 1/2 blocks). Lucerne is all i'd want in a hotel where my stay is focused on the city itself.

Nice- Matin restaurant- we hardly ventured elsewhere for breakfast,lunch and dinner and post theatre needs--inspiring good food. helpful concierge. Walking distance to 79th st. Subway to theatre.

Overall a safe bet. No bad surprises. Wish they would convert old heavy bed spreads to new down comforters.

We loved the Lucerne! The bell service was great, self parking nearby was reasonable (make sure you tell them you are from Lucerne if they say they are full). Nice Matin, the French restaurant downstairs was great - we had a fantastic dinner there, but didn't try the breakfast. The bagel place across the street was our preferred breakfast stop. The […] hotel is in an old building, so it has its quirks, but it was exceptionally clean. The location is fantastic - in a very safe residential neighborhood with plenty of dining options, close to #1 subway, which takes you straight to Times Square and downtown, and right behind the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. We stayed here with our two kids (9, 12) and would definitely look to stay here again if/when we return. Læs mere

I would recmmend this hotel with great enthusiasm. My stay was relaxing and the hotel management and staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The food delicious!

Great location in upper westside, convenient to subway and great restaurants. Nice Matim is attached to the hotel and is okay, but I would recommend walking one block to Sarabeth's - fantasticfor breakfast!

Charming hotel with lovely cafe next door. Close to many museums , restsurants and the park. Our room was on the 10 th floor and a bit noisy with banging pipes from heat or water lines. ..? We also noticed the bathroom sink had a leak on the cold water handle, but only a few drops. Traffic noise was noticeable too but typical of older hotels. The staff […] was very pleasant and helpful. While our stay at the Lucerne was comfortable and location wonderful, my experience at check in was not. We arrived at 3:45 Sat. afternoon hoping to check in, leave our car and expediently head down to the village to meet family. Unfortunately it took an especially long time to do so. The hotel clerk kept searching for an available room. While waiting, […] at least 2 other customers helped by another clerk, were given keys to their room and happily left the lobby. It occurred to me that perhaps the true hold up was because I had booked the reservation on line with Hotels.com. Maybe the Lucerne gives preference to customers paying full price. Læs mere

The Lucerne is a great little hotel in a great neighborhood. Just one block to the 1,2&3 Subway and just around the corner from a dozen good restaurants. three blocks to Central Park & Riverside Park. We have stayed here a couple of times now, and it has been great. It is an easy spot to drive to in NYC and have valet parking. It is right near Zabar's, a very fun kitchen and grocery store. Very close to Central Park and Strawberry Fields. The best part for us is the ease to jump on the subway and head a few stops up to Columbia where we have a student. […] The restaurant next store has a delicious breakfast, and there is wonderful wine bar around the corner called Tolani. Lovely hotel, everything was great. One small negative observation, the tiny closet was useless. It was not even deep enough to hang a coat!

Super friendly staff, great location (9 block to Broadway buses and subways, 3 blocks to Central Park). Arrived at 10 pm on Fri, installed ourselves in the Nice Matin cafe downstairs for wine and cheese = perfect. Sarabeth's is a block away for yummy breakfast. Room impeccable. Yes, small by modern standards, but quite acceptable for this 50ish couple […] for the weekend. No razzamatazz, but they deliver the basics here perfectly. Will definitely stay here again. Læs mere

We loved the location of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff, plus parking was reasonably priced and fairly easy.

Based on one nights stay I would return here in a heartbeat. Even if it is a bit out of the way I would make a point of spending the night here. Things were just as they should be at this hotel. We stayed here for three nights just before Christmas. It was our second time at the Lucerne, and although I would still consider it a fairly good hotel, I think the overall standard has definitely taken a turn for the worse. The first room we were given was a pokey shoebox next to the lift with a view of a wall. It was awful and we were very disappointed. […] When I complained, the receptionist was very helpful (all reception staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay) and we were given a different room. This was a lot better, so we were pleased with that, although if you are a light sleeper I would recommend that you get a room that does not face Amsterdam Avenue. On the whole, the staff were great, but the hotel is starting to feel a bit tired and although our room was comfortable enough I am not sure if I would return. Læs mere
