Great place on all fronts, however: Drinks are way too small for the price associated, (14-for most mixed tropical, at 12 oz) Food is so extremely overpriced for the quality. We are from manhattan and are no strangers to high prices for anything, but the quality has to be there.

Overall: tremendous. I never write these, but this is a very quality place and begs a review. I would write more but they don't allow you to skip lines in this little text box. The Grand Hyatt is a massive place with enough to do WITHIN THE HOTEL for a week without even stepping outside. The rooms are large, clean, modern, and the help staff is second […] to none. Amenities include tennis courts, on-site luaus, an impressive spa, multiple pools and saltwater lagoons, 24-hour fitness area, live music, a half dozen restaurants or more, and an exceedingly helpful wait staff. Perfect for a couple getaway, but many families were there, too. Right on the beach, although not a particularly good beach for swimming. The south side of the island has among the least rainfall (Mount Wailealea, for example, not 20 miles away, is the wettest place on Earth). Absolutely amazing! The pictures don't begin to describe this beautiful resort. Just wish we had more time to hang out at the resort...so much to see and do in Kauai! Definitely recommend it!!!

honestly don't waste time going to any other hotel. After spending two weeks in Kauai and travelling all over, this hotel is by far the best on the island. Book yourself in and get a car and go touring for a few days during your stay to see the north shore too.

I have been to Kauai every 2 years for the last 10 years and while I always go to this Hyatt, I have never stayed. I stay at the Hyatt Huntington Beach via Hotels.com at least 4 times a year and book rooms for my friends. I have NEVER had that hotel over charge my card for things they couldn't explain. This hotel completely drained my checking account […] when I only had 2 small charges. They couldn't explain why they did this and just blamed it on their system. They could have cared less that they did it and they left me with NO money on my last day in Kauai and didn't do much to fix it. Resort and spa with almost all amenities needed for a great time. Offsite access to all activities via concierge desk. We stayed around the pool and had a rental for excursions to the rest of the island. Hotel staff was awesome. I have never seen so many people smiling. Everyone was extremely pleasant and responsive. Not really a location to swim in […] the ocean although there was an adjacent public beach with surfing. Not my thing. Spa was very nice and was a quiet spot to relax and be out of the sun. Exercise facility was great. Restaurants were very good and had several price levels so you should be able to eat at various price points. Club Hyatt was ok, but it did not do much for us. Continental breakfast, hor devours, snacks, desert ok, but not much room to sit and crowds quickly with families. Pour your own limited selection alcoholic drinks on honor system were downright cheap. Spa access but not massages, (I think) also come with Club fee. Resort is not within walking distance to anything but plenty of pools, hot tubs, water slide, lounging, dining, reading opportunities and yes drinking fruity drinks. Golf adjacent, we are not golfers. We would definitely go again. I recommend a view of pool and at least partial ocean. worth it if you endure the long flights. lives up to 5 star status. If you have a rental, a stop at Costco (close to the airport) will give you some financial relief for water, wine, snacks, snorkels, etc. Refrigerator in our room. Læs mere

I paid for a partial ocean view which advertises an extra deep marble tub and was given a room that had a shower stall only. my wife is a bath person and that is very important to her. The only accommodation the hotel offered was to take a garden view room with two double beds in it's place and that room would have a tub. we were not willing to give […] up our kingsize bed and believe we are due some refund for this. Good overall, second time to stay here. First time to use club level. Description said that coctails, wine and beer in the club at a nominal charge. When the $9 glass of wine in the onsite restaurants is $15 in the club do not see how charging 66% more is nominal.

This was a beautiful resort to come and relax with my family. My daughter loved the pools and the lagoon! We thought the staff was very charming and always there to accommodate. We spent seven nights at this fine establishment and loved the time lolling by the pool or slumbering in the large room. We didn't leave the grounds even once because we wanted a place to "chill" in the mellow Hawaiian climate. There is no denying that the Hyatt is a beautiful place. The grounds are amazing with tons of pools and a water slide. It's right on the beach too so what's not to love (except for all the kids). The service was great and everyone was super nice... We stayed in a grand club room with access to the spa and the private lounge. The lounge was nice for […] free food (we had to pay for the alcohol) but it felt more like an airport lounge filled with families and children then a private lounge. At times it got kind of chaotic trying to get to the free food. If you dont end up using the perks of the grand club everyday (so much to do on the island) I would say its not worth the extra $$$. Overall the hotel feels generally overpriced for what you get. The rooms and hallways are in need of an update. Also, not much happening in Poipu outside of the resort. The North Shore ended up being our favorite. Beautiful waterfalls, charming towns and a few more things to do. If we went back we would rent a house on a north shore beach, save on the touristy luxury hotel and spend more on adventures and exploring! Læs mere

My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Hyatt. After visiting the north side of Kauai in a lower-end hotel, this was a welcome change. We enjoyed the beautiful pools and extensive grounds, attended the hotel's luau and ate dinner at the Tidepools restaurant. The room had a nice view of the ocean as well. Our only complaint was the beds. The […] room had one king and one queen bed; the king bowed severely in the middle and the queen was nothing special. We got enough sleep (and thankfully didn't spend too much time in the room) and were quite happy to get home to our own bed. We absolutely loved our stay at the Hyatt. We went back and forth on a couple of options for our honeymoon hotel, and so happy we selected the Hyatt. The grounds were gorgeous, spent a lot of time at the pool/lazy river. There were many dining options and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I'll stay here again.

Impressive resort, good gym (for a hotel), great staff. If I had to pick nits, I would like to see the wait staff at Tidepools restaurant dress more professionally. The service was good, but a 20-something in droopy cargo pants looks tacky. I will be back, it was a great trip. Oh, by the way.....lose the resort fee please!!

Great resort. Fantastic pools. My one complaint is that due to the structure and size of the pool area, servers have to cover large areas, which may lead to long waits between drinks.

A great resort with remarkable staff! The only shortcoming would be Tidepools. The first night there we tried to have dinner there and were told it was by reservation only, even though there were no less than 12 open tables (and it was 9pm). I knew that I would not be disappointed when I booked this hotel...and I was right! Being our first time in Hawaii, we wanted a romantic place to be at where we could relax and truly enjoy ourselves. The staff are all very courteous, accommodating and friendly. Natalie from in room dining was a beautiful person to work with. She anticipated my needs when I asked her to help me organize a surprise romantic dinner for 2 at one of the cabanas in front of the beach. With such a short notice to work with, we were able to pull it off without a hitch. Everything was perfect! Victoria, the beautiful woman who served us on the night, did such an amazing job. We spent the last week of August 2012 here and it was a fantastic experience! My husband and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we couldn't have ask for a more romantic place to spend it. An amazing hotel, immaculate in every regard, friendly helpful staff and although a large hotel it never felt busy. My only negative was wifi was awful everwhere in the hotel. If you want romance or just tranquility you won't find a better hotel.

The Grand Hyatt Kuaii is a magnificent property with spectacular landscaping and beautiful swimming pools and interesting restaurants. Anti-develoment forces will not allow this type of mega hotel to be built anymore. It is so grand and comfortable that you don't really need to leave the property during a week's stay although the island does offer some […] interesting activities like sightseeing cruise and helicopter rides. The resort is truly full service with everything you need, from well-staffed concierge to convenience store, shops, Luau on the premises, golf, all kinds of restaurants, super luxurgy spa, 24 hour fitness center, Kids Club, etc. Rooms are large. For a family of five, we had a room with king and a queen bed and there was room to easily fit in a roller bed for the toddler. Bathroom and balconey were also large. My wife and I prefer a firmer mattress though. Location is on the south side of the island with the best weather. The breakfast buffet is fine but the coffee is rather bland, which surprised me. Fortunately there was a Starbucks on the premises. Even though the resort was at 98% capacity, it never felt crowded, Kudos to the architect for creating a masterpiece. Læs mere

If you want to stay around the pool, its TOTALLY worth the extra $80 for an all day cabana! Best to reserve in advance or asap. This is not an inexpensive hotel. additionally […] there is a $25 /day resort fee for crap you probably wont use much -- but we did use the wi-fi, the 2 daily water bottles, and LOTS of towels to go on our daily trips -- so i feel we got our money's worth. The hotel is amazing. Wonderful stay, beautiful setting, extremely well kept, plenty to do. Do yourself a favor and get at least an oceanview, there's just something about laying in bed with your lanai door open and hearing/seeing the ocean...it just added to the experience. The Hyatt was a great place to stay- no complaints. If you can, go for the ocen view room- it was amazing! It was our first trip to Hawaii so I will include a few things I wanted to know when booking my trip... the north shore is more lush and tropical...you should DEFINITELY rent a car, highly recommend the convertable- we drove with the top down day […] and night- about $600 to rent for a week. It only takes about 1.5-2 hours to drive from north coast to south coast so easy to explore the whole island wherever you stay. For 3 adults (went with my girls age 15 and 23) the average meal was about $100 including tip. The room at the Hyatt includes a fridge, but no microwave. We went on many excursions from ziplining, snorkling, kayaking, etc., which averaged about $100 per person. The north shore was prettier, but the Hyatt seemed to be one of the best resorts in Kauai...the pools, salt water lagoon, the food was amaizing at every restaurant, the beach, the views, friendly staff, solid walls to block out noise from other guests. Make sure you drive all the way to the beach at the end of the north shore (till you reach the dead end) to watch the sun set- And MUST see the Na Pali Coast in some way during your trip. Overall an amazing experience- I hope to retire in Kauai and live the Corona commercial :) Læs mere
