Hotel Majestic - San Francisco

I en tidligere bedømmelse læste jeg, at dette hotel ligger langt fra alting. Det passer ikke, medmindre man med "alting" mener det turistede Union Square, som man ikke behøver ofre megen tid på. Hotellet ligger f.eks. tæt på Polk Street, hvor der er et leben med musik, restauranter og barer. Man er heller ikke langt fra Union Street med tilsvarende […] liv. Desuden går der busser til flere områder i byen. Hotellet er hyggeligt indrettet, dog havde vi bestilt et værelse med en dobbeltseng, hvilket var for småt. Hotellet har en god restaurant og et usædvanligt serviceminded personale. Her er intet problem - det bliver nemlig løst med et smil. Læs mere

Vi harvde et par super dage på hotellet der er meget hyggeligt, ja nærmest royalt indrettet. Eneste lille minus er at vi en anden gang ville vælge at bo endnu tættere på Union Square eller Fishermans Wharf hvor der sker lidt mere lige uden for døren -på den anden side er det jo også en fordel at hotellet ligger så der ikke er så meget larm uden for […] døren. Dejligt hotel med venligt personale. 20 min gåafstand til Union Square. Ok pris i forhold til beliggenhed. Man skal dog være opmærksom på at det er dyr parkering!

Our first room was HORRIBLE. It was dirty with tons of deferred maintenance. My husband finally so frustrated complained and asked for a new room. The staff was great and put us in a very nice siute. Had to vacate my SF apartment for repairs and found this deal. An old building but I found the details charming. This is SF after all and buildings are old. It was clean and in a convenient area. Staff was friendly. Great find for the price. No hidden charges. Think European style hotel. This isn't the Marriott. I would stay there again.

The hotel was ok, but just ok, there were some stains on the carpet and bed spread, wallpaper peeling in the bathroom, the bed wasn't the comfiest I've ever slept in, watching tv in bed was not the most ergonomic either. All in all I wasn't massively impressed, but it was fine as a base and the location is fairly central to all the different areas of […] the city and a short walk to the California line trolley car. It takes a certain type to like this hotel. Having recently been to Europe I didn't mind the old style and small room, however I wouldn't recommend staying here in summer, in mid march the room was extremely warm to the point of needing paper to hold both windows up as one window wouldn't do. The location was great for us as it allowed us to explore […] the whole of San Fran and not be stuck in the tourist areas which should be avoided. Recommend checking out Polk street for a good cheap eat where all the locals seem to hang out, plus Wholefoods supermarket is only two blocks away for some tasty treats. This hotel has been restored keeping the original beauty of the era. Our room was small but fine for us as we really spent our days out and about. Our bed and pillows were very comfortable. I love the old fashioned elegance of this hotel. Our party was upgraded to suites for no extra cost. Service was excellent. The manager opened our bottle of wine and brought wine glasses up to our rooms personally.. We couldn't have asked for more.

I was not expecting the Ritz but what I did find was a beautiful Edwardian style hotel that has been maintained well. My room was adequate for me (I was alone) and the bed was very comfortable. Flat screen TV with Direct TV included as well. Location was great and I was able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf one way and Hayes Street the other way. In the oldest standing building in San Francisco, The Majestic gives a taste of old school in Pacific Heights. The location is great, but the rooms are small and the bathrooms worn. The lobby is wonderful and has a remarkable collection of antique French books. I recommend this hotel for those who want a taste of old San Francisco. Charming hotel with helpful staff and convenient location. We were delighted.

We were very impressed with Majestic. It's old-world decor, it's cleanliness, bright lighting on the customer floors and the quiet surroundings made it a perfect place to start and end the day. The dining room was just beautiful; with its southern exposure, it was a wonderful environment to have breakfast. More guests of the hotel should take in the […] restaurant. The location near Japan Town and Fillmore street make it ideal for walking. There is a city bus that runs right outside the door which is convenient. The hotel is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle which makes it charming but we did take more taxis than we are accustomed to because of the location. San Francisco is a lovely city to visit - the Hotel Majestic reflects the quiet beauty that you'll find in its architecture and its citizens. Læs mere

Great location and convenience...

Great staff, lovely decor, but a bit threadbare and rickety overall. If you can suspend disbelief and ignore minor inconveniences a bit, this hotel makes a nice change from the usual. If you can't, this place is probably not for you.

I think it's possible the valet snagged a prescription out of my car. :-( I could be wrong, and don't want to make wild accusations, but I'm pretty careful, and this is a desirable script...where did it go? Everything else was fine.

the lobby and bar area are nice and give the hotel a comfortable appearance...until you get to the room. The rooms are tiny (my door hit the bed trying to get in and there was barely enough room to squeeze in a chair and tv), the bathroom hasnt been updated in 30 years minimum and the rug was worn to the bone. The hotel was beautiful and elegant. Pretty centrally located, and in a decent area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the room had its share of problems, but small things we overlooked since we didnt spend much time there. The main one being the shower head. It was broke off from the wall, so we had to hold it while we showered. […] The remote was out of batteries, and one of our room over head lights didnt turn on. No complaints at all about this place except one--and for me it's a big one. I need my coffee and it's very difficult to get here. Sure, you can sit down to a meal at the restaurant and order it, but I need it in my room, first thing. I can't recall ever staying in a place where there wasn't some sort of coffee/tea service in the room. Well I would definitely start off by saying I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. The rooms and hotel look old and run down. Internet didn't work the 1st 3 days we were there. The bed was very uncomfortable!!!! The water literally trickled out of the shower. We asked for a room with a view when we booked, and we got a view of a fire escape/enclosed with […] absolutely no view. Our remote to the tv had no batteries. Parking was expensive and then they taxed it, and they added gratuity to the bill, while we had been tipping each day. Just overall very disatisfied. This is one of the few building to withstand the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. It has been restored to something like its original condition, so if you are looking for a step into the past, it is a comfortable choice. Wonderful place to stay, great history behind the city's survival, ask a local. Wonderful service at the bar. I forget my bartender's name at this point but maybe thats why he was so good! We were drawn to this hotel because of its history and we were not disappointed. We loved the old furnishings and touches, however all but one of the staff we dealt with seemed disinterested and unfriendly.

If you comfort upgrade to a King suite room. All the other rooms are too small for a large family.

I booked a queen and they ended up giving me 2 twin beds...not a romantic getaway anymore...I paid more for a better room and got a cheaper room.. they never tried to accomadate me with a better room..

For as old as this hotel is, it is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. It has an interesting history, especially the list of well-known guest residents. I would stay again.

Me and my girlfriend had a great time at the Majestic. The room was very comfortable and classy. The location made it very easy to get around, it was just a 15-20 minute walk to union square and from there you can get any where with the cable cars, and other public transportation. I higly recommend the Majestic.

The only reason I gave this hotel a 2 is because of the kitchen and bar staff, good service. The hotel staff and desk is a firm 1, I notified the front dest 3 times that the toilet in my room did not flush, nothing was done. Not a fan of the hotel Majestic...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Magestic. I is a vintage hotel, but with remodeled rooms. I has a certain classic charm to it. It has a friendly staff and is well maintained. It is about four blocks for Japantown, in one direction and other areas with stores and restaurants in the other direction. Also about four blocks to the nearest east-west […] bus line. The rooms are charming in the sense that many of the original features are preserved and you get a glimpse into classic hotels of the past. The sour part of my stay was the linens are old and worn. The bed mattresses were old but just ok in terms of comfort. If you are looking for old time charm and you feel the price is right, go for it.

The service is outstanding and friendly. The ambiance is truly that of the hotels of long ago. The furnishings remind you of old world opulence, right down to the elevator. The room itself could use a carpet and upholstry cleaning but that did not detract from its statliness. Rates for the stay were reasonable. Bathroom was small but appointed. Hotel […] gives customer choice of "going Green". Parking was a problem the first night but was secured for the second night at a price. Definitely a place to relax and unwind. Breakfast with table linens, hot delicious entrees, endless coffee,and amicable staff was an excellent way to start our day. The hotel was very convenient and the room was a reasonable size (the bathroom was big!). Although being an older hotel provides some charm (the four-post bed was a cool novelty) I found the hotel to be pretty rundown. The lift didn't always work (the door wouldn't close), one of my bed lamps flickered and looked electrically unsafe, the hairdryer didn't […] work, the air conditioner was temperamental. The Hotel Majestic was very quiet and quaint in atmosphere, which I really liked. It had a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, a bar (happy hour). It was within walking distance to other eatiries, if desired. The staff was very congenial and efficient. They went out of their way to be helpfull. Valet parking was most appreciated because street parking […] is almost non-existent without getting a high-priced ticket or have vehicle towed away, resulting in more money.
