i had a good time helpfull service only minus i could hear the nabo making love not good, so more isolation at the room will be good, not just only for my kind of a person,no problem coming back

The hotel was really nice, however be aware that certain rooms dont have windows and you will se the occacional cockroach in the courtyard. Other than that everything was really satisfactory and i would recommend this hotel.

What I didn't like about this hotel was the poor soundproofing in our room - no 257. Also, our room didn't have a window. Otherwise, it was a pretty decent hotel.

I guess we didn't get a renovated room because the room was awful. The old spring mattresses left my back aching for days. The bathroom was dark and small and tub looked disgusting. I think everything was clean but just so old that it looked dirty. Carpet was ripped. The water didn't go down well in both the tub and in the sink. It took a good 10 minutes […] to even get hot water. Staff was nice though and location was excellent. However, a lot of drunk people walking in the hallways in the middle of the night and walls are super thin. So every hour or so we kept waking up because someone was screaming or talking loudly. I will choose to stay elsewhere for my next trip. I am willing to walk an extra block so I don't have to endure the discomforts of this hotel. Læs mere

This is a quaint, clean hotel that exudes New Orleans charm. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you want a shiny fancy hotel look elsewhere. If you want the real French Quarter experience with a GREAT location stay here.

Beautiful and charming hotel in a great location within walking distance to everything.Only disappointment was requested early check-in with our reservation - confirmed and when we arrived we had to wait past 4pm to get in our room. It is very conveniently located but the service/maintenance was very much disappointed. First thing I found bathroom roll holder was broken and came off when I used it first, which was not a big deal. Went out for a walk to the city and came home late, tried to take a shower but hot water did not come for a while. So, I called frontdesk and the security […] guy came to check. Yes, the hot water came, let's say like 15 min later after turn the handle. I thought it is too long to get water for a shower. To make the things worse, while he was checking the shower handle, the handle came off. I would not mind those type of problems if I am staying at very cheap accommodation, like a hostel. But I was paying decent room rate and had this type of avoidable issues (it can be maintained properly) is not acceptable. When I talked to the frontdesk manager following morning, she just said 'this hotel is old'. Those issues were not because of the age of the building, but a matter of maintenance. Læs mere

I'd booked this room late, after a friend couldn't accommodate me for my entire New Orleans visit. Amazingly I was able to stay at the French Market Inn for two nights during a very busy tourism week (Jazz and Heritage Festival). The location is right along Decatur Street at the edge of the Quarter. From the rooms you can hear boats and trains passing […] alongside the Mississipi River less than two blocks away. The hotel is within easy walking distance to music clubs, the French Market, various (free!) National Park Service interpretive centers and the best and worst of French Quarter tourist draws. Also, on its first level there's a Community Coffee store, the region's superior version of Starbucks. As a veteran solo visitor to New Orleans, I enjoyed it all - including the hotel's exposed-brick and courtyard ambiance, the humor and graciousness of its service staff and the location. My comfort zone may not suit everyone, of course. This is a well-maintained basic accommodation, not a deluxe hotel (although others under the same ownership offer more amenities) and the proximity to the excesses of the French Quarter could work for pleasure seekers but not necessarily for families with small children or couples looking for quiet romantic getaways. But 30 years after my first stay at the French Market Inn I was delighted to return, and I'd gladly visit again. Læs mere

Great place, great location, friendly & responsive staff. Hotel was undergoing renovations, but did not cause any inconvenience. Parking was expensive, but better than trying to drive everywhere. All interesting sites were within walking distance, including Bourbon St., casino, River Walk, etc. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

I am a former resident and frequent visitor to New Orleans and I never noticed the hotel before but I will plan to stay again. The location could not be better and the rehabilitation of this beautiful old structure with inner hidden gardens and fountains made for a very relaxing and comfortable stay.

Where to start... My wife and I went to New Orleans for 4 days/3 nights and chose the French Market Inn due to location and historic ambiance. The rooms were so sparingly decorated it was hidious. There was a chair, two very small night stands and a small roll top desk and the most uncomfortable bed known to mankind. I was literally sore when I woke […] up each morning. The air conditioner didn't work, maintance came and looked at it and agreed it wasn't up to par and would have the front desk call me. Later, when I called the front desk they informed me that they'd have to see about it the following day, nothing came of it. The tv had a wad of cables hanging from the bottom of it and the 4 bulb light fixture had only two bulbs burning. For the nearly $800 I spent I could of stayed elsewhere and took a cab to and from the Quarters and been more comfortable and saved money. Læs mere

This hotel is just so old and full of history. The staff is the best i have ever encountered, you need anything, they will be above and beyond to help you in any way they can. The rooms are nice and comfortable and always clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone at anytime!!!

I live in Louisiana and know the French Quarter very well. This hotel is a steal. What it may lack in pompocity (Royal Orleans, Omni, Royal Sonesta, Monteleon, etc.) it makes up for in value, character and a truly friendly staff.

Very convenient location for new tourists in New Orleans. My room did not have a window. Tubs needed to be cleaned due to soap scum build up. Desk Associates and concierge were very friendly. Building is older but very unique and under construction.

We arrived at the French Market Inn and were impressed by the location and exterior. The Courtyard was nice. However, the room was disgusting. It appeared as if someone had kicked in the door recently as the molding on the door had been screwed back in. I would not stay again.

Look, this hotel is at a great corner and right in the FQ by the river. Location gets an 'A'. Now the rest: desk staff, indifferent. 'Bellman' (why?), slow, lazy, sullen, obese. The room we were given was an 'upgraded' room; we know because we asked to be moved and were shown 2 other rooms that were not upgraded - they were ratholes. Many rooms with […] no windows, these are dark caves indeed. Ours was very small but decorated exactly like a Homewood Suites hotel room; however the plush-looking, seemingly comfy bed gave both my wife and I horrible backaches. The room was cramped by big furniture in a tiny area, and CONSTANTLY rang with motors, pump noise and water streaming sounds from the brick wetwall... as well as hearing whistling, coughing and other very clear sounds from the next room (we each thought at first the other was whistling, that was a little funny). I was reminded utterly of a cruiseship inside cabin near the waterline, from my college days working on one... it would have been nostalgic as such but for a couple it was no fun. We would NOT choose this place again despite the rustic buildings and 'historic' (why?) name. It was not a good value and wouldn't upgrade us, only offer horrible alternate rooms. It was a maze to get to the room but once there it was a recently remodeled, beautiful room. The employees looked a little run down, unprofessional but still friendly. Walking distance to some delicious restaurants and bars. The website said valet parking, there was no such thing but parking was conveniently across the street.I'd stay here again.

When you show a room (on-line) that looks put together that is what you are expecting when arriving. We had a room where there was only sheets on the beds, no bedspread and had to look in the closet for blankets which were mismatched and old looking. The room was terribly dusty and the ceiling fan needed to be cleaned. I liked the hotel. The front desk staff was exceptional, vrey helpful, personal attention, friendly, I so liked these people. The hotel has a lot of character and charm. Located in the French Quarter, accessible to many attractions on foot. This was my first time in New Orleans, and I will book at the Inn my next visit, which I hope is soon.

The French Market Inn was a functional place to stay. It Was completely convient to most of the attractions in New Orleans. Everything was in walking distance from the hotel. The good thing about the hotel was that you can go back to rest throughout the day without driving far away to get back to the hotel. The hotel was extremely close to all amenities […] such as resturants and coffee shop. It was also close to the shops that sell the famouse beignets. Overall good experience. If you are looking for old history and great hotel staff, this is the place to go. The rooms are very basic, however worth it for the historic value. My sister and I were very comfortable staying there. It is very near the French Market, MIssissippi River, river cruises, offered tours, shopping, eating, and anything else you want in the French Quarter. […] Our room was overlooking the courtyard ~ so rustic and Old World! I've been loyal to them since Katrina when I was one of their first guests. But the beds need replacing and the elevators are wearing out. I kind of like the place but clearly they are letting it run down a bit more than most of New Orleans. But the staff continue to be very nice.

The Hostoric Fr Market Inn was perfectly located for our recent trip to NOLA. Not an upscale establishment but we loved our room and did not find the noise of the Fr Quarter to be annoying. I'm sure we will stay there again. Oh, it's haunted as well, but the ghosts were also very polite and did not disturb our sleep or revelry.
