Hyatt Regency Newport Beach - Newport Beach

The hotel was lovely, the service was great. The rate was very good also. Would definitely stay there again.

Second stay within last 60 days. First was a disaster due to unfriendly service and bad room (tired and mildew smelling- stayed in main building). By the way, the GM did in fact respond to my last comments hoping to make good on future visit - did not inform her of this reservation. Stayed one night this time in the two story building facing the golf […] course. Bedroom and especially the bathroom where in much better condition and the AC unit wasn't on the balcony so it was quiet. Front desk people were very friendly and helpful this time around. Had a late dinner in the bar area - both the wait staff and food were excellent. Also, wonderful breakfast of eggs benedict and hash browns in the main restaurant in the morning. Understand the hotel is slated for a major renovation sometime soon - much needed. Extremely convenient location to beach areas and shopping as well as all the beach communities in the area. A very nice hotel. I wasn't aware that they charge $20 for overnight parking and $10.95 for internet service which is very high.

This hotel is a party place and our neighbors room was partying until 3 in the morning, we couldnt sleep at all even after complaining, we realized that most of the surrounding rooms had the same partying going on so it wasnt worth complaining further, a disaster weekend with no sleep, no enjoyment and would never stay there again...complete money waste […] and a ruin of our anniversary weekend....Disaster Læs mere

The hotel is out dated. My room smelled like mildew so I asked to switch rooms. The new room also smelled like mildew. I met a gentleman in the lobby who over heard me complaining about the smell, and he told me his room smells also. I definitely will not be staying there again.

Loved our stay. Loved the ping pong. Pools and hot tubs. Volleyball court. Great room service. Need a car or plan on cab fare to see the beach and restaurants

Great location!! Nice hotel, great pool and jacuzzi! The shower was not great. Not much pressure and kept getting really hot and then cold...but otherwise great!!

Hyatt is in a wonderful location. Less than 1/2 mile from PCH and mile to Balboa Island and mall. Great area. Only big downfall was the parking situation...$20 per night to self park 200 yards away and every time you wanted to enter or leave parking lot the scan card would not work. had to look for hotel staff the first few times to get the gate to […] open. On a recent business trip to Newport Beach, I happened on the Hyatt Regency on Hotels.com. It was a lovely experience. Lovely, garden setting, with 3 pools. It was close to my conference, as well as to Newport Fashion Island, Balboa Island and Laguna. The hotel staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Loved our stay.

I needed a place to stay for a wedding near Newport beach. Found this hotel for cheap, and I decided to try it. The property is awesome to walk around at night, and it has a nice little bar. My room was down by the pools and It was a fairly basic room, which is all I needed. Everything was clean and functioning. I was satisfied with the stay.

I stayed at this Hyatt for a couple of days of work in our Orange County office. It was very convenient that there was a Hertz rental car location on site, and a great cafe area for breakfast and coffee in the mornings. Walking through the property in the evening (seeing the many pools, ping pong tables, bikes to rent, etc) made me want to stay through […] the weekend and have a relaxing and fun time. A beautiful hotel. Room was big and very clean. Big comfy bed. The parking was far away from the room and had to pay $20 a day to park there. My only major complaint would be hearing EVERYTHING that was going on in the room next door at 11 o'clock at night. You're paying for scenery. I was actually pretty disappointed.

I was in town for business and was recommended to stay here, and was not disappointed. Easy, fast check in, big 'ol pool, and a nice setting. The only remark I would say is that the hotel is definitely older, so if you're looking for ultimate luxury, this is not it. Great stay for the money!!!

Great hotel. Great location. Parking is a big hassle, super far, and very expensive.

Old golf resort, old decor in rooms and had to walk 200 yards to my room in the rain.

There is a great system of trails / roadways to run in the area of the hotel. The hotel also provides a route map. The hotel gym is not so good, but access to outside is wonderful

The shared potions of the hotel (lobby, lounge, dining room, pool areas, etc.) have been renovated and are very nice, and it is very clever how the morning coffee bar is converted to a full service bar in the afternoon. The self parking area is a long way from the rooms and elevators are few and far between but these drawbacks detract little from the […] overall experience. I stay at hotels on average 100 nights per year - i was expecting a lot more from this property. Very old rooms - old beds, furniture, shower.... they were very understaffed - parking fee $20 for self park and $29 valet and fee for internet access were a bit much. I will start with the good. The people we wonderful! The valet staff, front desk and bartender were really nice, helpful and cordial. The room and parking however were extremely disappointing. I chose a Hyatt for the reputation. It was late and a last minute night stay and I thought we would be comfortable in a Hyatt with 3 1/2 stars. Not even close […] to 3 1/2 stars or comfortable. It was old, really needs updating and cleaning. The chain on the door didn't add any feeling of security. There was one blanket and a sheet on the bed. We were freezing so I turned on the heater. I listened to the heater and other people's showers running all night long. Needless to say, we didn't sleep much :( Far cry from the last Hyatt I stayed in. Very thin walls. You could hear toilets flushing and showers running from every room that surrounded our room starting as early as 6:00AM.

The room we stay in was at the very back corner of the hotel. You can hear your neighbors as if they where in the same room as you and dust bunnys everywhere.

After checking into our room, we did not have water for over 3 hours and then come to find out we did not have hot water. It took a total of 5 hours to get water issue resolved. EXTREMELY INCONVENIENCED!!!

We got a really good off-season deal on this hotel and for the price we paid it was heaven. We enjoyed the three pools at different temperatures, the large outdoor hot tub, the bikes for rent, the beautiful estuary to bike in right behind the hotel and the outdoor ping pong and shuffleboard that had everything you needed to enjoy an impromptu game. […] The room was not as sound proof as I would have liked (I could hear the shower next door) but the neighborhood is extremely quiet and the other guests were considerate after 10 pm. Beware - I booked and paid full for Bay View room but ended up getting a Pool View room. The hotel gave us a voucher for dinner at THE SOL (which was tasty but weird server didn't talk much and mumbled when he did) and comped our valet (which was outrageously priced for overnight). Now I know the definition of a lumpy mattress. Very uncomfortable bed. The room was clean but the beds were obviously old.

Always a wonderful Hotel to stay at. So much to do and always have a wonderful time.

Very small, dated bathroom. The $29 parking charge is a stealth increase in the room rate. You can hear people's converstations on both sides of your room.

After we sorted out weather to stay at the quiet area of the hotel or close to the action, we had a great stay, feeling at home after 2 weeks stay. The Sunday brunches were a real treat, the pools, the library, the shuttle service were all there for our enjoyment. I can hardly wait to return.

Totally underwhelming of what I expect from something named "Hyatt Regency". Very old, rooms exit to outdoor hallways. I had a great view of the backbay parking lot and jetty. bleh. Service was inconsistent: friendly staff when I encountered them, but no maid service on the second day. Lush grounds, close to everything...shopping, airport, restaurants. Our fourth stay there! Looking forward to returning soon!

The only real complaint we had was that someone left food in the fridge and the maid didn't clean it out. Left a kind of stink in the room. The other was the iPod station didn't work and that was disappointing. Other than that the room was great and convenient to the location we wanted to visit. Balboa Island

I stayed at one of the newly renovated buildings, so room was nice and comfortable. Beacuse of the staff working there I have no complaints what so ever. Front desk people were great! They were all helpful and very friendly. Also the shuttle driver and valley guys, actually everybody. Liked the atmosphere in the lobby and the bar, especially the outside […] part of the bar. This hotel is great. It is conveniently located to all attractions of Newport/Balboa island. It is thoughtfully laid out - with a pool, including hot tub, in every section. The room was comfortable and clean, but very "tired" really need a doing-over as the room is darkish and feels old. The parking was a challenge, we had to ring for help every time we left the property. Reception was very good, although far too many bellboys descended on us on arrival. Bed was great but pls get fitted sheets!!

This hotel was FABULOUS for this price. It was well worth every penny. I wouldn't pay full price + parking + internet fee, but the hotels.com rate was perfect.
