I thought the location, pool and beach were all awesome! The actual hotel room needs a face lift...old moldy bathroom, with shabby carpet.

The Westin exceeded my expectations. The hotel is lovely. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location on seven mile beach is the best. Close to everything. No need for a car. Gorgeous beach. Good restaurants in the hotel. Hotel staff was very helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

Overall Westin gets 5 stars from me. The rooms were a bit smaller than we like but they were very nice.

We were do excited to stay at the Westin in Grand Caymon Island. I was surprised at the lack of detail at this hotel. I have stayed at Westins before and never felt like this. The hotel cost a lot of money per night to look over a parking garage, the service and cleanness of the room was poor and the lack of good food at the pool side bar was unacceptable. […] When I go to the Islands I want to sit by the pool and order some hot food especially at a 4 star hotel. Instead it was cold sandwiches with bad fruit and limited options. I tried to upgrade but it was full. Not impressed. Læs mere

Great location, but nothing else very extraordinary here. The service was widely varied. One really great server at pool area during my stay, but the rest were more interested in interacting with other staff members than guests. Everything else adequate, but not special. Not sure why this property would rate 4 out of 5 stars.

Very nice hotel and reasonably priced. Welcomed with a freshly squized mango/pineapple juice. Friendly staff, beautiful view, nice swim-up bar and a pool. Two hot tubs outside. Plenty of palm and pine tree shade around the hotel or the beach. Rooms very clean and very comfortable beds. Small reef just outside of the hotel with beautiful tropical fish […] and occasional sting ray (even saw a lion fish). Red sail sports liaison in the hotel lobby and everything can be charged to the room with full program for sailing, diving, sting ray reef, etc. Beach food/cocktail servers. Food reasonably priced and of reasonable quality; cocktails little expensive but well made and so worth the money. We had a great stay at the Westin Casuarina and look forward to the next visit. We had reserved a ocean front room, we got an ocean view room! It was not truly an ocean front, our room overlooked the pool and we could see the ocean for our balcony. The price we paid for the unit, we were extremely disappointed, they have very few what I would consider ocean front rooms. Room was small, decent furnishing. Pools were way too cold, […] to the point nobody wanted to swim in them. The onsite restaurants had very good food, but it was extremely expensive. Front dest staff was okay, fairly slow. Location was pretty good, grocery store and other restaurants about a 15 minute walk away. Beach area was nice, very well kept. Læs mere

We had a great stay as the staff was friendly and very accommodating to families with kids. However The hotel feels dated and needs to get a facelift.

Our family stayed in Westin and Marriott for this winter vacation. So I have a side by side comparison. Westin has the best location in seven miles beach and easy access to restaurants (we love eaters cafe and legendary sports bar, so American! just cross street from Westin) and grocery stores. Their front desk staff, Hadi is the most professional and […] friendly and knows how to serve customers. You would feel Westin is open and spacious. Marriott, on the other hand is a deep U shape building, you would feel confined and they only have small beach and limited number of rooms face the ocean. They gave me a room on the back end of the U shape, and called me the night before check out and told me the check out time is 11am, and will charge after 11am. They charged local calls for $1 Cayman dollar for 1 minute. Westin local calls are free. In addition, the ocean in front of Westin has two very good natural reef snorkeling site just swim about 100 feet. We took lots of pictures and video taped my son and my husband playing with group of fishes. Marriott has a man-made ugly reef just in front of the hotel. I would definitely stay in Westin again. We had an amazing time and everything was wonderful. The one issue we had was dealt with swiftly and entirely to my satisfaction by Mike the AGM, who was courteous, sincere and really concerned in us having the best time possible. We will be returning to Cayman soon and will not stay anywhere else. If you go to Cayman, stay at the Westin!

The Westin hotel is older and dated but clean and acceptable. The service was just ok, nothing fantastic and not terrible. We did have an issue at check in which was due to Hotels.ca not passing over our reservation correctly to the hotel. The hotel was at capacity and luckily I had the confirmation printed out. The on duty manager was excellent with […] handling the issue and got us a room relatively quickly under the same package (price) booked and confirmed. They did have the charge incorrect at check in but again were fast and efficient with correcting the issue. The pool and beach area at this hotel are very nice!! Læs mere

The hotel is nice but the room was not clean properly. The bathroom was even worst. From the door you can smell old urine coming from the toilet area.

We stayed 8 nights at the Westin and will go back again. One major problem though, do not order a frozen drink from any bar! Essentially they crush ice then pour a syrup on top. Ugh!

I requested for an ocean view room. There's only a slit of the ocean view. The window is facing directly in front of a conference room. Why am I paying for an ocean view room if there isn't one. Also the concierge was impossible to deal with. She made me not want to do anything or eat anywhere. Good choice of employee Westin!

We probably had the worst room in the hotel I would guess. Room smelled of cat litter I assume trying to mask some other smell. Rooms are small and surprisingly quiet. Hallways are hot and musty. EVERYTHING there is only to take money from the customer. There is nothing left as a service. No free Wi Fi either. If I cam back to Cayman I would definitely […] try someplace else. The beach and property were amazingly beautiful. The pool and beach service was great. From a vacation standpoint it seemed like a great place to spend an afternoon. However, I was traveling on business and was underwhelmed with the room size and lack of work station in my room. I stay in a lot of Westin properties and the room just did not feel like […] a "Westin Room". The AC was below average (hot all night) and the room seemed undersized for a Westin. No area to set up a work desk and lack of free wi-fi was very annoying. THey charge $12 CI for 24 hours of access. That works out to around $15-$16 US dollars and is absurd. The check-in process is a shambles. They seemed like they were surprised to have a rush of people checking in at 3:00 (which is check-in time). They were inefficient and claimed not to have a room ready for us. We suspected their poor service to us was because we had booked through Hotels.com, so they already had our money. However, someone else checking […] in said he'd stayed there before for his honeymoon and they were just as bad. He'd hoped they had improved. It's a very nice hotel but the room service was terrible. We didn't get our room cleaned one night. Booked oceanfront room but got partially oceanview room.

It was perfect for a couple honeymooning who wants to be away from a huge party crowd, but was close enough to great food and party's if there was a desire for that.

My husband and I just celebrated our 10 yr anniversary in Grand Cayman. It was the off season there (October) which was great because it was not crowded. We had full run of the beach, pool, dining areas, rental cars, etc without having to wait for a thing. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always providing extra details about the Island and […] willing to answer any questions. We liked the fact that Grand Cayman is a melting pot of different people - both the staff and the vacationers. We spoke with hotel staff from all over the world which was unique. The hotel is right on the beach and the water was clear and warm at this time of year. There is waitress service on the beach, including food, which was convenient. Pool was lovely, although could use more skimming throughout the day as bugs often fall in. Hotel dining at Ferdinands was good and affordable. Crab cakes were awesome. Ask for bugspray if you sit outside and they will happily oblige. The hotel is directly across from a small shopping center which has a casual dining place called Eats. Food there is good and affordable as well, and has a large selection. Same shopping center also has Captain Marvin's which does stingray and snorkling tours for a reasonable price and great service. Capt Marvin's also sells snacks and water at a cheaper price...especially water which is fairly expensive in all the hotels since it's all imported. They have disposable underwater cameras as well. The two bars in the shopping center are Legends and Marumba. Legends is a sports bar and Marumba is a mix of events - open mic, latin dancing, karaoke, etc, depending on the night. Since it was the off season, both were pretty slow, but they're likely much more active at other times. We rented a car to see the island which is fully recommended - unless you're freaked out by driving on the left. The beach is absolutely beautiful, the pool area is nicely landscaped and the hotel is overall satisfactory. It is not a luxury hotel though (the ritz is much, much nicer). The biggest negative about the hotel is that there were no free umbrellas in the pool area or on the beach (hard to believe in this day and age! You could pay for a cabana but it […] was not cheap) The other negatives for me were that the gym was way too small,and the pool water was too warm to be refreshing ( in August). I also found an enourmous flying cockroach in my room and noticed that the rug had been pulled up and was still unfinished against the wall. Totally gross. They finally ended up moving me as the cockroach went under the wall. Room service was not good (the driest chicken I have ever had), but there are good restaurants across the streets. We have stayed at the Westin numerous times; this was the 6th trip we have stayed there. Unfortunately, it will be our last, even though it is our favorite hotel in GC. The Westin's rooms are fairly small and the bed choices are limited. We have 4 in our family, and just don't fit into the rooms anymore. The double beds are too small for two people. […] It would work well for us to have a king room, and two rollaways but they only allow one rollaway. This trip we also stayed at the Grand Cayman Beach suites and the Ritz Carlton, to check them out. Both fit a family of 4 much better. The Beach Suites had the largest rooms and closer proximity to the beach. The Ritz was a bit cramped and the walk pretty far to the beach (and the snottiest people at the pool I might add...) The hotel was very comfortable, staff was attentive and location great.

Starting to look run down - Room was not very clean, lots of dust and worn out furnishings.

Hotel location on Seven Mile beach could not be better. Wide beach and sea safe for families. Excellent pool, staff friendly and helpful at all times and in parts of the hotel. We were there in the low season (occupation 15% Nov 2009) and enjoyed the experience. Room was clean and fully functional, no adverse comments like some other reviews we had […] read. this was our third visit to this hotel in last 6 years and we'll be back. New cafe (Soleil) closed too soon (open only 6:00 am - 11:00 am). Breakfast had very healthy choices available each day. Læs mere

Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable and clean room. I appreciated the fact that I could open the patio door and let the wonderful Caribbean Sea Breeze come in. For me, the location was perfect.

The best hotel on the most beautiful beach! We've been home three days and are already planning a return trip back to the Westin. Cannot say enough about the hotel. Nice sports bar and inexpensive diner right across the street. Loved it!!

The hotel was a little disappointing because it seemed that this Westin was not up to the standards of Westins in the US. Overall, it's not a bad hotel. But it is aging and probably in need of updates. Service at the Westin was pretty good. The quality of the room was fine, but nothing special at all. Our room did have a strong musty smell, so we moved […] to another room. That room also had the same smell but it was not nearly as strong. The best hotel on 7 Mile Beach is no doubt the Ritz Carlton. We took a walk around the Ritz and it was clear that the Ritz is in a totally different league. The other guests at the Westin were pretty normal people too. This can be contrasted with the guests at the Ritz where everyone looked like they thought they were too good be in the same room as everyone else. The Westin has the best beach though. Compared to the beach at the Ritz, the Westin's beach is wider, longer, has a better reef, and feels more relaxed than the up-tight Ritz beach. The Casa Havana restaurant was disappointing. They get high marks for creativity and presentation, but the food tasted pretty average. I would not waste my time on this restaurant even though it is the only 4 diamond restaurant on Grand Cayman. Copper Falls Steakhouse (a 15 minute walk) is a much better choice for fine dining. Also, the $10 BBQ special on Mondays at Macabuca (a $20 cab ride) is a great and delicious deal for more laid back dining. The 50% off wine special at 7 Restaurant (inside the Ritz) is a great deal. Their wine selection is impressive. The total price paid through hotels.com includes the US$20 per day resort fee, so make sure they don't charge you for that. Also, the resort fee covers unlimited local calls, so be sure to have the charges for local calls removed from your bill. Læs mere

The hotel seems to have lessen the quality of upkeep from three years ago. It is still a nice hotel. I would defintely stay there again.
