Hotellet er af ældre dato, men er i fin stand med hyggelige mere moderne værelser. Værelserne er ikke de største, men der er hvad man har brug for. Personalet er rigtig søde og vil gerne hjælpe med både det ene og det andet. Hotellet ligger super centralt med sporvognen kørende lige ude på vejen (Dette kan høres når de bimler og bamler med klokken, men ikke noget der der irriterer, mere som en hyggelig lyd à la "nu kommer sporvognen igen".) Hotellet ligger super centralt, lige ved Union Square. I området ligger der mange små caféer, dinere, butikker osv og 300 meter nede af gaden ligger der en metro station (en Bart) hvor man kan tage toget til yderområderne. På samme sted er der et hav af busser som kører alle steder hen i byen. To af SF´s tre sporvogne har også endestation lige nede af gaden. Alt i alt et rigtig dejligt hotel. Vi var i SF et par dage inden vi rejste videre syd på. Hotellet var helt ideelt. Både pga at det var hyggeligt, med i høj grad også pga beliggenheden. Det var nemt at komme ud at spise, nemt at komme i butikker og shoppe og nemt at komme til både tog, busser og sporvogn. Helt klart et hotel vi vil anbefale og et vi gerne ville bo på igen hvis vi skulle tilbage til SF.

Godt hotel og fine værelser. Rigtigt godt med mulighed for gratis shuttle til centrum samt til Fiskermans Wharf. Glimrende kompensation for den dårlige beliggenhed, så her kan alle bo - og samtidig komme til centrum uden at skulle træde over hjemløse.FIn morgenmad.

God service. Fine rummelige værelser. Vi var 5 og der var stadig god plads.God morgenmad / gratis buffet og en super ide med happy hour hver eftermiddag med frie drikkevarer og snacks.Praktisk beliggenhed når man skal flyve fra SFO.

Personalet var meget hjælpsomme, og placeringen er god midt i SF i et hyggeligt kvarter. "Ganske udemærket"
Tæt på biludlejere, da vores rejse startede herfra. Morgenmaden kostede USD 7 pr. person, hvilket vi havde håbet var med i prisen. Men efter vi har været på nogle hoteller ned langs route 1, så savner vi deres morgenmad - også selvom vi skulle betale for det. Også mulighed for gratis fitness, bl.a. et løbebånd, hvilket vi ikke lige fik nået. Hotellet […] har enormt dårlig trådløs wifi dækning - dog kan computer og printer bruges gratis i lobbyen. The staff was great... the location was perfect. Could walk to lots of places and cabs were easy to get. My bed and pillows were so comfy. My home away from home for the week. I'd stay there again. They had wine and cheese in the evening and a work-out room.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel the location was great in walking distance to Union Square,where were able get on&off tour bus.We really enjoyed the wine and cheese hour.The front desk staff was very helpful in our tour planning.

This hotel is a full two city blocks from Union Square. I have stayed at several hotels closer to Union Square that were much nicer and cleaner and that cost less. This hotel is overpriced. The rooms are old and stained. The guest services were poor.

It's true, you're offered a free chilled shot of tequila at check-in! The desk employee was very friendly and check in was very smooth. The room, like you would expect in a city, is smallish. When I check into a hotel and they give me a chilled shot of tequila at check in, I say Hallelujah!!! Then free wine and cheese at 5:00 in the mezzinine, free delicious breakfast in the restaraunt, and the valet parking is $20 cheaper than everywhere else in town, loved it!!! "One problem"
You list free parking on your site (Hotels.com) and it isn't true. I complained at the front desk and they tell me they have been asking you to remove that for months. Get you act together. 3 days parking = $100.00
"Best Western Hotel California"
Although the breakfast is included, it is horrible that the content never changes every morning (within our five days stay). In the 7th floor, the water pressure is not strong that you cannot enjoy a comfortable shower. The locus is good and gym is free. Overall is not bed.

I have stayed here many times and enjoy the layout, location, and the 4 star people that run it. The one thing to watch out for is that it is right on Geary street so don't expect a quite nights sleep!

There were two major problems with the hotel which iverwhelmed the convenient location: (1) Street noise - made sleep extremely difficult ad room insulation did nothing, (2) Rooms need upgrading - paint peeling, window coverings ... - all show signs of needing work!

Two bedroom suite was perfect for four of us but would not have worked if the five people booked in that room had all come! Clean, with friendly people, typical mediocre free breakfast but lots of places nearby to find outstanding meals.

The firstthing that you notice is the very musty and old smell of the hotel. The staff said "well, the hotel is over 100 years old. The room was like a closet. No table, one chair, old towels that had seen better days. Breakfast buffet was good. Concierge service was excellent in setting up tours and bus service. Location was central to sights, TV set […] onmly had very limited selection of channels, beds were comfrotable although mattress sagged terribley towards center. Near Union Square, we loved the location. It was an easy walk to great shopping and restaurants. The room was adorable. There was a very nice breakfast in the morning as well. It felt like old-time San Francisco. We had a great time.

"Faulty elevator"
Everything about this hotel was excellent for the price...location, cleanliness, continental breakfast, employees' attitude. The elevator was out of order for most of my 2-night stay, which could have been a problem for people who aren't able climb stairs. I would hope that it would be permanently fixed or replaced before too long.

staff was wonderful--room adequate---location was convenient but if you are a light sleeper, there were clubs right on the street below and were jumping until the wee hours, so sleep can be compromised..there are many hotels in the same area that may be a little less noisey.

My husband and I just spent four nights at the Hotel California. This hotel is very charming. Yes, the rooms are small. Yes, it's a little shabby. But if you like heritage buildings and appreciate the history, you will love this hotel.

"Great deal near union square"
A great hotel with many extras. Great breakfast every morning as well as a manager's wine reception every evening. Friendly staff and just a 5 minute walk from union square.
"Very Small and Old Rooms"
We stayed at the hotel California for 4 nights at the end of September. The check in process was easy and convenient. The hotel is located only a few blocks from union square which was very convenient. However, as a result there are many homeless individuals surrounding the hotel and it is surrounded by neighborhoods which we found to be somewhat unsafe. […] We stayed in a standard room which was incredibly small -- even for a boutique hotel. There was barely enough room to lay a suitcases on the floor and still have room to walk to the bathroom. The safe in the room was also broken. When we informed the front desk of the safe we were informed that almost all the in-room safes were broken. They did however allow us to lock up our valuables and passports at the front desk free of charge. The other major issue was that the toilet in our room was nearly broken -- the rocked back and forth when you sat on it! Unbelievable! On the plus side, they do offer free Wi-Fi and there is also a computer for public use. Overall, although there were some okay features about this hotel the cons outweigh the pros and I would not stay there again. Læs mere

Not a bad place. Good location, reasonable breakfast and free internet. Room fine but too hot and advertised extra fan not available. Water will not stay in bath., alarm clock not working. Because it was a warm few days lack of air con was a problem for us.

They told us that after we got the car in the garage and the bags in the room we should return to the check-in for our complementary shot of Tequila. There was wine and cheese at 4 and complementary breakfast. The rooms have sayings on the wall and a "mural" around the ceiling fan. It is 2 1/2 blocks from Union Square. "Not a nice hotel"
The hotel is very old and there is no air conditioning. There is a bar across the street that is very noisy until 2AM. Also valet service for hotel lost my car for several hours and initially tried to state that I checked in without a vehicle. Horrible stay do not stay here.

Great atmosphere. Terrific staff. Really terrific staff. but nothing can make up for the street noise, bar noise, and hall noise when you need a good nights sleep. Small room, Nice effort at preservation. Ceiling fan rattled. Free welcome tequila made up for their well-noted, slug-like elevator. It;s just the noise that drove me to sleeping pills
