Loews Don CeSar Hotel - St. Petersburg

The Loews is a lovely hotel, with comfortable clean rooms, nice amenities, a great gym, in a fantastic location with pools and the most gorgeous beach to tempt us. But the best part of all was the warm welcome and care everyone took of our 60lb dog. She had a ball and was spoiled rotten. We will definitely be back!

The valet and bellman went beyond for our early check-in. We arrived earlier than expected, and we were immediately checked-in and a room was ready. Every employee made us feel like the only hotel guest. The drinks were worth every penny, and the poolside service was exceptional. Lovely hotel and you do feel very spoilt especially by the pool area staff and also the doormen although the guy on reception wasn't that friendly compared to his female counterparts. Pool loungers were plentiful and the most comfortable ever. Free suntan lotion is a nice touch as well as ice cold water with fresh fruit in. Also free fruit in the fitness […] centre is also a nice touch. Also now self parking is included in £22 resort fee where it used to be charged as an extra. A/c in bedroom (436) was very noisy and had to turn off to sleep but was extremely efficient at cooling the room when it was on. The bathroom was tiny but had everything you might need. Beds were very soft and wouldn't suit someone who wanted something harder. Lots of pillows. Sad that they charge for internet in the business centre- not everyone has wifi these days !! Læs mere

For a 4 star hotel i am not impressed, I ordered 3 drinks, it cost $42, I didn't like the bloody mary it was too spicy and the bartender said here's a can of tomato juice, gave me 2 cups and said cut it with that, for $ $42 you think he would have remixed them, so I played bartender. The hotel was overbooked and I ended up with a room overlooking the […] parking lot instead of the ocean. All aound I am very dissapointed in the service we received and nothing there was offordable, if you go make sure you brink drinks and snacks, no mini fridge or any amenetie in the room for such a pricy hotel. Nice but old hotel. Room was next to elevator and was kept up all night by sounds (like airplane engine). We mentioned this at check out and they didn't seem to be concerned about our disappointment and stated they would just note next time to not put us by an elevator.

Absolutely fantastic. We travel a good bit and this is one of the best hotels overall we have ever stayed in. The staff was excellent and extremely friendly which made the stay even more special. Beautiful hotel, great location, welcoming and friendly staff and good food. What more could anyone ask for.

This is a beautiful hotel and absolutely the best place to stay on St. Pete beach.

The hotel property was great. It's right on the gulf so you can step out of the hotel and take a nice walk along the beach. There's nice chaise lounge chairs available to hang out on the beach and a very nice pool area. However, the room had a little bit to be desired. I think it was the smallest hotel bathroom I have ever encountered. The toilet was […] so close the wall that you practically had to sit perpendicular on the seat. My husband said he'd rather go use the public restroom instead! My other beef with the room was the overlarge furniture left little room to walk around. The TV was in a cabinet to the very left of the room, so you had to sit on the very edge of the left side of the bed to see the screen. Although the hotel facility was in a great location. I regret staying here because of the room. I would not recommend staying here because of the uncomfortable room size. Læs mere

2 Things: 1)Need to knock out a few walls so a larger room is an option. My wife and I had no issue with the room size, but if a larger room was an option, I would have chosen it. One of the best hotel experiences ever!! Hotel staff bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable! Clean, comfortable rooms with a beautiful beach and pool area. Would highly recommend this property!

We loved our 37th anniversary stay at the Don Cesar in St. Pete Beach Florida. We were treated like royalty. You could not have stayed at a better place or location. Their employees act as if they should know what you need before you even ask for it. And they are always bending over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. WOW!!!

Only there for a short stay but enjoyed many amenities ice cream, water aerobics, yoga, beautiful views. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Comfortable room, real Florida feel.

We stayed for 3 days and had an awesome time. Booked luxury King room and had one of the best views in the hotel. However, there does seem to be some on going construction so I would call ahead about that.

Over all the hotel was comfortable enough I requested a gulf view room but the room I had forced you to place your face against the glass and look down the side of the window to see the gulf. there was peeling paint in the room and the showers were at best luke warm. The room was not ready until well after my arrival check in time was 4 pm the room […] was not ready until 5:20. The room was clean and presentable and the food was excelent. Resturant staff took their time serving the meal which was nothing more than appetizers and coctails. The pool area was clean but seemed to have an oily substace around the childrens pool which could have caused some type of mishap if children were running (as they do) around the pool. The beach area was pristeen but cluttered with lounge chairs almost like a movie theatre. I did not get the resort feel that I wanted and whenever i went to the concierge she was on break or had left for the day. Could have been great but instead was a glorified Holiday Inn Læs mere

I was very dissatisfied with the way they handled my situation. I reserved a room with a balcony and gulf view. I even asked the girl to read it back to me on what I had. She never told me that only luxury rooms get a balcony and a gulf view. I paid extra for my reservation expecting to get a room with a balcony and gulf view. They moved me to a room […] where I overlook the courtyard and no balcony. They moved me above where they were doing construction and they were drilling the tile. She said they would only be doing this Friday till 6:00 but they were doing on saturday also. I did not appreciate being lied to about the construction and all the noise. The hotel was nice,the beach,the people,the food BUT we were beside someone with a dog! The dog barked all night non stop....my husband told the front desk and yes they wrote a note and placed it in there BUT the dog must not have gotten the note ONLY because he continue to bark. The next morning was a Sunday and it was time for us to leave anyways […] BUT the dog was up too...YES barking! The paper was gone from there front door so needless to say the owner was all ready gone! When the gentle came to get our bags he to heard the dog and said the hotel will look for the owner...well for us it did NOT happen.NOW I too have two dogs that I love BUT I take them to a dog hotel AKA boarding.....ONLY because its a vacation from EVERYTHING....I do not want to worry about taking my pets out to potty etc. We enjoyed the hotel EXCEPT for the pet part. Beautiful hotel with some great history, right on the beach. Local restaurants within a mile or 2 drive, and historic Pass A Grille community within walking distance

Very pet friendly and staff was great in bed. They literally bend over backwards for customers. The staff are great with animals and go out of their way to give them treats. The room was a little bit dirty but was comfortable. There were many great restaurants and bars nearby. Will visit again soon in future.

We drove up from our wedding reception in Sarasota, arrived around midnight. Staff from the parking valet ( who gave us a newlywed's comp car park , then promptly delivered our luggage to our room ) to the desk personnel were very friendly and efficient. Our room was immaculate. We loved our too short stay at The Don Cesar, but we were off on our Honeymoon […] Cruise.Staff during check out was also exceptional, giving prompt, efficient, friendly service. My wife and I stayed at the Don Cesar for our anniversary. It met all of our expectatons for a four star hotel. All the employees were very helpful and worked hard to accomodate any requests. We plan to return in the future and bring our children.

Elegant to look at with good service, however annoying pop-music plays over the pa system everywhere; lobby, restaurants, lounge,... NO top resort inflicts it's visitors with noise. It's impossible to sit in the lounge or sitting areas to read a newspaper or to have any peace. Kill the canned music ! Also, the mattress was old and lumpy... This hotel is beautiful and the service is outstanding. Our kids loved the beautiful beach and pool and everyone who worked there did all they could to make our stay amazing. We wished we were there longer!

The hotel is very nice and easy to find. The staff was great. The food at one of the restaurants was excellent. Then you have the beach. Very Nice glad we choose this one.

The Don Cesar is a lovely hotel, well worth the money, situated on a beautiful soft, white sand beach, and close to restaurants and shopping. It is a bit indulgent, but an ideal get-away.

Other than some inconveniences that were inherent to the age of the building. We had a great time at the Don Cesar Hotel. The indoor/outdoor aspect of the Gulf of Mexico side of the building was a big plus. Next time we stay we will be making reservations for the health spa. We had a very good time. Began our day with lunch by the pool with Pina Coladas, an excellent lunch while enjoying the view of the gulf. Took a walk on the beach which is powder sand. Great! Had dinner at the restaurant with the fish tanks. I can't remember the name but it was first class. It must be a 5 star! We had 4 guests with us and out waitress […] couldn't have been better. She knew our every need even before we did. The food was excellent from the appetizers to the dessert. Would definately return! Læs mere

This hotel was a disappointment for a 4 star hotel. The food was not exceptional. The menu for beach wedding was the same for the cafe we attended. The 1st night the grouper was dry and overcooked. The 2nd night the meatloaf was dry and overcooked. You had to walk into the bathroom and close the door in order to sit on the toilet, because the door opened […] onto the toilet. Granted it was built in 1928, but I've been in 4 star hotels newer and older than this and did not have such an experience food or room wise. The cost of the hotel was not justified in any way. Overall, it was a very nice hotel with a beautiful view. I would recommend to anyone staying in the area. The only disappointment would be the size of the rooms... it was tight.
