Ballsbridge Hotel - Dublin

The hotel was good value for money. It's a bit outside the main tourist attractions, so one has to negotiate the local buses. We thought the beds a bit hard but otherwise the room was great. The price of WiFi was exorbitant, so we didn't subscribe to it, given that there is free WiFi at every café and even on the buses. Seeing as how every other place […] offers it for free, it is quite aggravating that the hotel doesn't. The hotel's surroundings are a bit bleak (a mixture of industrial buildings and embassies), but a few minutes' walk down the left from the entrance one can find a few shops, eateries and so on. We had a nice stay at Ballsbridge, except for the fact that the room was really cold in the night. Seemed like they turned the heat off. Despite that, the room was great.

godt hotel, Bussen holder lige uden for døren. der er rent og pænt. Tjenerne er søde og meget hjælpsomme.

It was very easy to get to the hotel from Dublin airport by taking a bus. When we arrived, we're "greeted" by a line, and after some time got our key. The first room stanked of cigar smoke, and since none of us are smokers and we ordered a non-smoking room, we requested another room. This was quickly arranged, which was a plus. However I must say that […] I was disapointed over the staff in the reception. None of them seemed interested in their guests, and I became very hesistant towards asking them about good places to eat or must-seees in Dublin, due the fact that they almost laughed at me when I asked about walking to Heston station instead of taking a cab or bus. The only highlight staff wise, was the (supposedly) Irish receptionist who helped me some adresses I wanted to visit. The second room was fine, great beds and clean, only minus was the old shower which was a bit hard to regulate. I would recommend this hotel but would also advise future clients not to expect too much friendly service from the reception. Læs mere

My stay at the Ballsbridge hotel was just for one night. It was a quick stop over on my way to a meeting the next day. Room was clean, beds were comfortable and the hotel also had tea making in the room. The Staff were lovely and I could not fault it in any way. It suited me for what I needed.

Absence of air conditioning reduced the room to a sauna, the window only opened a inch or two and was chained closed. Receptionest was curt but competent. Bed was as good as any i have been in. No toiletries as promised, no satellite tv channels as promised which is such a basic for any b+b nevermind a hotel like this. No wifi either which is simply […] ridiculous. Hotel is in need of updating. Rooms okay but tired. Think the overnight parking charge of € 10.50 a bit steep for guests. Don't think I would stay there again. Better hotels available at less cost and with free parking.

We spent 3 nights here as we had one night before our bus tour of Ireland was supposed to start and 2 nights there as part of our tour. The hotel front desk staff was excellent. I needed assistance twice with things and they were very attentive and helpful and it was very much appreciated. Omar was very helpful with concierge related matters for me […] when the concierge was away from their desk. Another gal was very helpful letting me use their front desk phone to contact my phone provider as I had no cell phone service. Our room did not feel very clean. There were two stains from leaks in the ceiling. One in the closet appeared to have mold around it. I did let the front desk know about this when we left so hopefully they will repair and repaint it. The location by a bus stop to get to town center was right outside the hotel which made it very convenient for us to get there and back. So as I said the staff was very good. Good location. Rooms are clean but extremely dated. Other hotels in the vicinity charge the same (or less) and are much more comfortable and modern. I wouldn't be rushing back.

Great value hotel. Located in a pleasant district, some lovely restaurants within walking distance, 15-20 minute walk to the centre of Dublin. Good sized room, very clean. Great varied choice for the buffet breakfast. I have only one complaint and that is you have to pay extra for wi-fi.

Our first disappointment at arriving at Dublin airport was to find the airbus no longer stopped at this hotel from the day before, i.e. 29th April. We got the bus to O'Connell st then a taxi to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel, the entrance & foyer looked very impressive for a 3* hotel. On checking in, Ester on reception offered to book my luggage […] for our return flight on Ryanair which my son hadn't done & it was worrying me. She did it willingly, saying she does it all the time. For me it was a weight off my mind & I could look forward to our break. If you pre-pay the buffet breakfast at reception it was E.9.95 or E.12.95 on the day.Great selection of hot & cold food, fresh fruit as well. Location of hotel further away than I had expected, but bus stop outside & DART train station Lansdowne Rd. within 10mins walk away. We booked a triple room which was on the 6th floor room 636. Big room, double & single bed. Lovely bathroom but THERE WAS NO HANDLE ON THE DOOR, & damage to the side which could cause it to stick. Quiet room away from the lift. Tea/coffee facilities in a cabinet on the wall, there should be a socket next to it to plug in the kettle as it would be safer. Had to unplug TV or lamp to boil kettle on dressing table. The room was a good price, staff very helpful. The sheets/towels were changed daily, plenty of hot water, good choice of Dove & Lux liquid soap dispensers, great food. Just improve the bathroom door, put a plug on the wall & reinstate airport bus. Læs mere

Stayed here once before and was given a double bed when I'd booked a two bed room with the hotel. This also happened this time when I'd booked through this site so it must be an issue in the hotel itself. The double room was quiet small for a room which was to accommodate 2 people. The location of the hotel was ideal as both times I was attending functions […] in the Ballsbridge area. Generally some staff were helpful but others were bordering on rude. Having had the same room issue I had the first time I stayed there again, it has put me off staying in this hotel again. Læs mere

After a disasterous start where I could not find room and eventually made way back to reception to complain as I had lots of luggage. The receptionist was great and arranged upgrade etc. well looked after here and will return as a result with lots of business

My stay in the Ballsbridge Hotel was awful, we were awake from 9am with noise of hammers and workmen. All the rooms on our floor were being re-fit. We were not made aware of this on check in! We rang Reception twice and it got so bad we actually went down to reception to complain! BUT it didn't stop! No compensation or apology was offered! It was very poor, we asked the staff to come to the room 3 times to fix window or move use to another room, but they never came to fix or look at the problem. There was a draft and wind nose coming through the window, so we checked out at 6.30 in the morning as we could not sleep. I had to go to the doctor the next day with pains and flu simtums.

Very unhappy with the condition of the rooms. You can tell it used to be a very nice place but has fallen into disrepair. mold in the shower, missing light bulbs, a hole in the mirror was covered with a piece of white cardboard, TV was snowy on every channel. Room medium sized. 4 sockets hidden behind bed. Broken socket inside wardrobe. Socket beside desk not working. Stained duvet cover. Bathroom not clean, foreign visitors on floor. Lunch excellent and chef very frendly. Evening meal dreadful. Order incorrect, main meal overcooked and sauces spoiled with extreme use of sugar. was working at the stadium and location of the hotel was excellent. Despite the room being tired and the tv was old etc it was well cleaned and looked after. These days I would expect free wifi in some part of the hotel and I had to pay for it.

Hotel in good location, great to have onsite parking. Reception area lovely, room a little dated but clean & comfie. Staff very efficient and pleasant. Would definitely stay there again.
