Very nice place to stay. Comfy beds and nice bathroom. There was no fridge in the room and the other guests were loud in the hallway late at night.

It was very clean and didnt have that that dirty hotel smell! Loved the pool and staff was very nice.
The hotel is nice but does have some flaws. I debated giving a couple of "4s." The meeting space in this hotel is still being refurbished which might account for the "business center" being one laptop on a desk in the lobby--not convenient if more than one guest needs to work on a computer. Also, the sound in the halls reverberates like those talking […] are standing in your doorway. Since the guest rooms have already been refurbished, I don't see that situation improving. Læs mere

The only bad thing I can say about this hotel was that the pillows were awful but in their defense I am a picking one when it comes to pillows. I am used to staying in marriott hotels and found this hotel to be pretty nice.

The hotel was fine - comfortable bed. The room was clean, but there was hair in the bathroom. My complaint isn't really with the hotel, but with hotels.com. I was told when I booked the room that the pet fee for a one night stay was $15. I was careful to repeat it back because I knew that the Hampton Inn charges $50 and I was definitely told $15 for […] a one night stay. In fact, the fee was $50. I understand the reason for the fee. I just would have appreciated an accurate quote. I chose the Kirkly over the Hampton Inn due to the lower pet fee, but since the pet fees are the same and the Hampton Inn also has free breakfast, I will try the Hampton Inn the next time I am in Lynchburg. Very nice rooms & not a lot of noise from outside when in room. Nice big indoor pool & hot tub - no restrictions on hours as far as I could tell. Bedding was very nice & room was nice. Mattresses were worn & needed replacing in our room. Price was excellent for hotel.

When I pulled up to the hotel, I was a little nervous about my decision. The inside was a pleasant surprise! The hotel has been recently renovated and they focused on the details. Love the pillow top mattress! Staff goes above and beyond to be sure you are happy! I will stay there again!

"Clean and Comfortable."
The hotel was conveniently located to where we needed to be. It was clean and the staff was great! We did want to use the hot tub but the 2nd day we were there it closed and never opened again!! That was disappointing....other than that, it was nice and we would stay there again. Good proximity to Liberty University!

"Nice Hotel"
This is my hotel of choice when I'm in Lynchburg. It has been renovated and it's really nice. The last time that I was there three weeks ago the water was cold. I complained. The problem was fixed. I was able to take a nice hot shower. I will stay here over and over again when I'm in Lynchburg.

We stayed @ the Kirkley with every visit with our daughter when she was @ Liberty Univ. Our last 2 visits were just weekend getaways. There is always something for us to do in Lynchburg & the Kirkley has been a great place to stay. Rooms, carpeting, bathroom was updated & we were very pleased. Bed & pillows are very soft which caused some discomfort […] in sleeping - didn't remember them being that soft so it might be a change. Also, on Fri & Sat they have activities in the restaurant/lounge....not a bad thing as far as noise or whatever, but on this visit we felt very uncomfortable with the people hanging out in vehicles in the parking lot and walking around the hotel. Didn't know who were guests and who were there for the activities.... in the lobby that's one thing, but when you get to your floor & there are people wandering around like they don't have a room that could be trouble. Had a group of guys in a vehicle stop us in the parking lot to ask the time, which I thought was really odd & then make some inappropriate comments as we walked away. Before staying here again, I'll check with management about security for guests during these weekend activities. Shame that this puts a damper on an otherwise great stay @ a very very nice hotel. When I arrived at the hotel a function was taking place so it was hard for me find a parking place. After I checked I went to my room which was right by the ice machine and elevators. The room wasn't very soundproof, and the floor was a bit noisy. My cable didn't work at first and kept cutting in and out; however, it was not a terrible place to stay. "Clean and relaxing"
We stayed for one night. Lobby was decorated nicely and staff was helpful. The room was clean and had a nice big flat screen that you could attach a kids gaming system if you wanted. The indoor pool water was exceptionally clean and little deeper on one side, 6 feet, which was nice if you wanted to tread water. It was also the perfect temperature, around […] 82. The hot tub was fully functional. My wife, my son, and I all made use of the adjoining exercise room with top notch recumbent bike, tread mill, free weights and a universal among other items I don't remember. There was a flat screen in the exercise room as well which made exercise a lot easier. The only complaint I would have is that you had to go to the front desk to get pool towels. Other than that, the pool and weight room experience was really nice. I would give the Hotel an A+ and will probably stay there if we visit the area again. Læs mere

"Recently renovated"
Very nice room. Better than I expected. Didn't get a chance to use gym or pool but both looked nice. Definitely worth the extra $15 over the next cheapest hotel which seemed like a dump. Friendly staff clean rooms.
"The oddest details matter."
I feel bad writing this review, as I have previously held a very high opinion of the Kirkley. However multiple small issues accumulated to result in what was probably the two worst night's sleep I can recall having in any hotel. First, the good. The hotel, while an older building, appears well maintained. While the external appearance is not much to […] write home about, the internal fixtures, art, and general appearance is lovely. The check in staff was friendly, fast, and courteous. The floor of our assigned room appeared recently refurbished and updated, with a faint hint of still-new paint in the air. The room was modern looking, with a digital thermostat and new-seeming furniture, the beds appeared clean and comfortable, and the television was a modern flat-screen. They had even arranged to have a gift from my relatives waiting in the room. However, the bad is significant. Apparently, the refurbishment missed some details. The heavy, light darkening curtains were still very old, and fit very poorly together, decreasing their usefulness. The air conditioner was functional, however it seems that they canot be set to have the fan "always on," which I have always found to be a helpful and useful source of white noise to help with sleep. But most problematic is that the doors were not flush with the ground, leaving a gap that ranged from about 1/4 to nearly 1 full inch open to both the hall and the connecting neighboring room. This allowed a great deal of light and sound to be transmitted. I attempted to deal with this by placing a pillow at the base of the door, but this did not completely block light or sound. Additionally, I did not have enough to block the door leading to the connected hotel room, who's occupant evidently is a morning person who enjoyed singing along with Christmas carols. "Very nice...but noisy."
This is a beautiful hotel situated near Liberty University. The rooms were great, very clean, and spacious. I would highly recommend this as a stay, but as I told the hotel staff...the walls are paper thin. You can hear quite well people in the hall, or your neighbors next door if they snore loud. "Luxury!"
What a wonderful, relaxing stay! The staff was kind and accommodating and the facility was elegant. I enjoyed the pool both nights and was able to really relax in the comfortable bed.

Overall a good value, the room which had new carpeting had a bit of an odor, but nice furnishings. Generous size shampoo and conditioner was a nice change. High shower head a plus for taller guests. "The Hotel Kirkley In Lynchburg - best kept secret!"
The kirkley in Lynchburg is a wonderful place to rest when traveling. The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious and the bed is extremly comfortable. In addition the staff makes you feel welcomed and want you to enjoy your stay.

Overall the stay was good. My only complaint was the hidden charges if more than two people stay in a room. There was a standard room rate then because we had 4 people staying in the room we were charged an additional $10.00 each for the 3rd and 4th person.

As noted in the 1-5 ratings questions, the Kirkley is spacious, comfortable, and very nice overall. The indoor pool, spa, and workout room were great. The Hotel was very nice, but what I was really impressed with was the employees. Friendly, outgoing & helpful! The gentleman @ the front desk call The Ellington to help us find out how long it would take us to get there. Then the pretty little black girl in the resturant was wonderful. "Nice hotel, but ..."
It's a nice hotel, probably even more upscale than most in its price range. Staff is courteous and helpful. I had a problem with my key card where it just wouldn't open the door no matter how many times they reprogrammed it at the check-in desk. Staff walked me into a room and fixed it at the door. The bed was great, especially pillows & extra blanket […] (it was 25F outside at night). There's a lounge on the first floor with live music & such. On a 'minus' side, the hotel is just to busy for my taste. There were kids running in the hallway chased by their parents, a conference of some sort & a lot of parents & their upcoming college freshmen children. The TV in the room has no cable box, so the selection is somewhat limited with no ability to order or see HD. What's the point of putting a nice big TV then?!?! Another thing is that, as a man, I was baffled by absence of shower gel or regular soap in the bathroom. There were shampoo & conditioner bottles and a bar of 'facial soap'. I assume the latter one is strictly for a face. One other thing is concerning actually getting to the hotel. It's located just beyond T-intersection and it's very hard to figure out which way you need to turn and where to enter. Læs mere

The Kirkley Hotel was very clean and very nice. There were a few signs of a bit of renovation but not a lot. The kids loved the indoor pool and we loved the hot tub!
