The location is the best thing about this hotel. Right across from Newark's Penn Station, it also has a rental car facility on the ground floor so it's a great place to stay if you're coming in on the train and then have to travel further by car.

I've stayed at this property several times now and I have to say the service and accommodations keep getting better. Check in went smoothly. And the room held to the Hilton tradition.

This Hilton is a great place to stay if you want as close of access to NYC / Manhattan as you possibly can get by train, without being in NYC. It is extremely convenient to get into NYC / Manhattan from this hotel. From the hotel, you enter Newark Penn station without even having to go outside and NYC is one or two stops away via NJ Transit depending […] on which train you get. This is NOT the hotel to stay at if you have some extended stay or are on vacation. It is in downtown Newark which is still a downtown in renovation even though Ferry street (The Brazilian / Portuguese section of Newark with awesome restaurants) is only a walk away. The hotel was wonderful - the fact that it's location is in Newark can be difficult - however, security was great and spring in the north east is always fun!

We were pleasantly surprised at the excellent location of the hotel. This being our first visit, the staff were up to mark to make our stay memorable. Mr. JR is excellent. Will definitely opt to stay here again.

We were a group of 13 and our overall stay at the hotel was very pleasant. Service was exceptional especially a Mr.JR for going out of the way to make sure that we got on the right track at Penn Station for our trip to the bus station. For most of us, this was our first visit to New York.

This was our first time staying here, and we were very pleased with the location, the accommodations, and the staff. Room was ready early, which was nice because plane arrived EWR at 9 am and we wanted to drop off bags before exploring NYC. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Bed was comfy, room […] was quiet (except I heard a few noisy guests walking in the hall early in the evening). We had the concierge king and it was worth the few extra dollars. Complimentary breakfast in the grille downstairs on Saturday and Sunday included eggs, bacon, french toast, fresh juice, fruit, pastries, and cereal (plus lots more I can't remember). Service there was very good and attentive. Room was clean - towels and soaps were nice quality. Good, strong, easy to operate shower with lots of hot water. On Monday we had our complimentary breakfast in the concierge lounge on the 9th floor and although they didn't have hot food, there was plenty to choose from. Walkway between Newark Penn and the hotel make it very convenient to hop on a NJ Path into NYC. Free hotel shuttle to and from airport was a real convenience. Læs mere

The rooms were clean and comfortable - bit of street noise and train noise but nothing to fault the hotel about. It is an east 30 minute train ride to lower Manhattan on the […] PATH train (40 minutes to Midtown). The staff were extremely helpful as we stored our luggage after checking out (the gentleman who stored our bags was great). The hotel offers a complimentary hourly shuttle to Newark Airport - the driver helped load our luggage into the van and the journey was about 15 minutes. Læs mere

Good stay overall. There for one night on business, so train access was a plus. Restaurant had great bar service but kitchen took three tries to cook a burger medium rare.

We were extremely happy with our stay at the Hilton Penn Station Newark. It was conveniently connected to the Penn Station train station (in Newark) and practically connected to the Prudential Center via an enclosed walkway/mall with multiple eateries inside. The staff could not have been any friendlier!

We went to see a show at Prudential Center. This hotel's location was perfect. Hotel is cross from train station. There is a hallway from train station direct to hotel. As for the show, again there is a long hallway to the other end of the hotel and when you are out Prudential Center is right there on your left. The staff at hotel was very helpful and […] kind. So I loved loved loved this hotel, I would have gave it 5 stars all the way down but they don't have free wifi. It's 2013 how can you not have free wifi. The Hilton has some. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff was very pleasant, the room was gorgeous and the whole ambiance of the hotel was great. I will definitely be back. I am planning another trip April 1, 2013 to Newark, and the Hilton Penn Station will be the location I stay at. Thank you for exceptional service.

The location was good if you want downtown, but be aware that PARKING IS NOT INCLUDED. It cost $21 per day for parking! That made this an expensive place to stay if you have a car and if you have a car, stay somewhere else.

We had a very nice room which was adjoining with a couple we were traveling with. The beds were nice. The maid was not all that proficient though and forgot to replenish cups, etc. Had a crank call at 3:20 a.m. on the morning of departure (though no fault of the hotel) she was asking whether she could find a micro wave oven. So asinine; looking for […] a microwave at 3:20 a.m.??? Told her she was not calling the front desk. I would have much rather cussed her out, if I had the vocabulary to do so. Læs mere

very convenient- attached to the train station. Clean, updated, comfortable, typical Hilton service- staff friendly and protective. I paid 100 for the room- it was perfect. It was a good experience. The train station has every shop imaginable in it and there is a fantastic Portuguese restaurant - Iberia- only two blocks away.

We wanted to stay in Newark, close to the Train so we could get to Times Square in New York. There is NO better hotel for that than this one. The price was really affordable, the staff was courteous and very helpful and the room was great! The direct access to Penn Station is awesome, I would stay here again and plan on doing so!

Check in went smoothly and I requested a certain room which was made available to me. With the exception of a faded stain on the pillow the room was clean. I like that it is directly across the street from Penn Station, 20 minute train ride from NYC. Room service arrived in the time that they told me. Great Stay.

Front desk staff was very friendly! Hotel was perfect for our family visit: we took PATH train when we needed to go to NYC and we drove to local Brazilian supermarkets, bakeries and BBQ restaurrants in nearby Ironbound district. We were very pleased with everything about this motel. One very big bonus was the walkover connection to Penn Station. The price of the motel was excellent. We travelled every day for six days into New York City on the train. Easy as. The motel was very clean and tidy. All staff were very pleasant and friendly. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions about transportation. The hotel is connected to the Newark Penn Station, which was great to not have to walk outside to get to the trains into the city. Would definitely stay here again!! Two night stay, two rooms, bathroom was not serviced in first room. Sinks (2) neither drained at first. Then magically did later on their own. Front desk was called on sinks. No one every arrived. Bathroom situation the Front desk sent someone with more towels. They did give us off on (1) day of parking in "outside contracted" parking they share.

I adore this hotel! My girlfriend and I wanted to get away from NY for the christmas holidays. This hotel is clean, friendly staff especially the pretty and energetic Columbian woman at the front desk, great food in the Bar and grill..I suggest the Vegetable Quessidellias!! The Path is right across the street, many little cafes and food spots to go […] to because the price for room service was a bit ridiculous so what we did was go out each morning to grab breakfast and at night grab dinner and snacks. Need to explain better about the parking and the breakfast. I payd $82.50 for the breakfast to 3 peaple. The bathroom wasnt clean very well. The dirty dish was in hallway for 2 day. I dont ll be there back never.

The room and the entire hotel smelled of some sort of strong air freshener chemical. Sort of like going into a restroom right after it's been cleaned - a strong chemical smell. In fact it was so strong the smell kept waking me up all night long. I also thought the front desk staff was unprofessional and unpolished in their acumen in dealing with their […] customers - not something I was expecting from a Hilton. The concierge floor lounge was unstaffed and the hours were limited and not convenient as a benefit to those who are paying for the upgraded services to enjoy it. All in all - a poor experience, an unsatisfactory hotel (especially given the price), and a place I'd not choose to stay in again. The only plus is the location (right at Penn Station - Newark). Lastly when I was checking out I asked the front desk clerk where a good place for breakfast was? I was told to go over to the train station. When I went to the station all I found were multiple McDonalds. When I asked an Amtrak agent where to get a good breakfast I was told to go to the Hilton (the very folks who told me to go to the train station, and didn't even bother to mention I could get breakfast from their own restaurant - which I wasn't aware they even had). Now that's really bad. I did finally walk back over to the Hilton and have breakfast there (which was very good). Your bell staff ROCKS. They were the highlight of our stay. Informative. Helpful. Friendly and made us feel SAFE. For two midwestern women travelling alone, we were a bit hesitant. But not when we got ahold of your staff. Friendly directions, info, etc. They were the best. Hotel desk staff was not very welcoming or friendly. They did not offer up any helpful information like there was a shuttle to the airport. Doorman was excellent, helpful and friendly. The convenience of having Penn Station so close was worth the price of the room.
