We don't usually travel with our lab and didn't expect to spend a night in Detroit, so I was really pleased when we saw the accommodations. First rate all the way. I was sorry we were only staying one night.

It took the clerk over an hour to check us in, hotel staff was not knowledgeable about there system or how to check guest that used hotel.com, a very frustrating experience.

Nice place to stay but do wish they had better movie channels.

The room was clean & quiet. The only 2 things that I had issue with were the speed of the internet in the evenings when I was trying to work was horrible and the phone did not work at all. When maintenance came by to fix it all they did was look at it to see if it was plugged in, which I am not an idiot and had already checked all the likely reasons […] the phone would not work, and then left & said he would let the manager know...? huh? I needed the phone in the room to communicate with my corporate office (for them to call me) so I wouldn't have to use my personal cell phone since my company does not pay for it....big inconvenience for me. Very comfortable hotel with big rooms. We were with two kids in our room with no problem. Hotel is very clean and staff is very friendly. The breakfast is a little like the battle for the waffles, but staff tried everything to make up for that.

Stayed 2 nights. Room like a small but comfortable apartment. Very clean, quiet. Close to shopping and within 10 minutes of downtown amenities since close to I75. Good breakfast selection. Would have liked more fresh fruit and a non-pork breakfast meat eg turkey sausage. Check in clerk was forced to multitask, and theeby slowed down check in process […] but she was polite and patient. We loved the layout and size of the suite. The breakfast was very good, too. We will definitely recomend this hotel to friends!

Everything was fine about this hotel, except we kept running out of hot water in the shower. Other than that it was great.

In this world that seems to have forgotten what customer service is I have ceased to expect much. Every employee at this hotel that I had interaction with was genuinely friendly and enjoyable to interact with. I have stayed here before and will again. I was disappointed with this Marriott Hotel and it could be because I have come to find that 99% of the Marriott's are great. This one could have used a good clean bath. The room's apperance was clean, but when you took a closer look it was pretty dirty.

very nice, but shower curtain had mold; internet went out on last night, not fixed by morning; yard work started WAY too early; some dishes were dirty upon arrival; cleaning crew slammed neighboring doors all morning.

The bed was so hard and rigid that we couldn't sleep! I would look elsewhere before staying here. The room was clean and otherwise fine. The hot tub was not in good condition - the grout was cracked and the tiles were falling off the side walls. Breakfast was not real great, but enough to get your morning started for free.

An excellent value, with ease of parking etc.

We have found this hotel and its' personel to be very professional, clean, and accommadating. Any time I have had a request, they have taken care of it. We wish that other facilities would emulate them.

Overall hotel was nice and clean with very large rooms, but the noise level is high since they are like townhouses, you can hear your neighbors upstairs.

I travel a lot in my work and stay at many different hotels. I typically try to keep expenses at a minimum. This was far and away the best bargain I have encountered. The room was huge, and had a complete kitchen with place setting for four. However, the hotel provided a light meal each evening Monday through Wednesday. The breakfast was much better […] than most. Staff went out of their way to be friendly. The only possible negative that I can see is that, while the neighborhood & setting seemed safe enough, the entrances to many of the hotel units are rather secluded. Nice hotel, good breakfast and comfortable stay. Needs prominent signage at the entrance. It was the best in the price I got.

Since Royal Oak does not have many options for hotels, the Residence Inn in Madision Heights is a great option. It is close and provides a nice room. A full hot breakfast is included and the social hour in the afternoon on Mondays-Wednesdays are not bad for a quick bite (though not the most well balanced meal).
